Anchor The moment I saw her, I knew she was mine. I knew she’d be my life, but so was the club, And she understood that she understood me. Growing up, I always wanted to prove myself, To the brothers, my father. But with my Angel, she loved me for who I was. And I took her for granted. I messed up; she left me, and rightfully so. She no longer agreed with club life; She no longer agreed with me. But losing her is not something I’m willing to stick with. She means everything to me, And it’s time she understood that. Yes, I messed up, but I promise my Angel, I’ll spend a lifetime making it up to you….
Heaven Having a relationship wasn’t something I planned on, Especially at such a young age. But bumping into him changed everything. He became the reason why I breathed. I thought I’d spend the rest of my life with him, I thought he proved my mother wrong about men. Until he hurt me, and he hurt me good. I decided to put myself first, and I walked away. I moved on with my life, or I tried. He wouldn’t give up and refused to let me live without him. He wants to try again, to prove himself. But what is it that people say? Once a cheat, always a cheat…. Right?
This can be read as a standalone. It is book 4 of 4 of the Huntsmen MC series, with a HEA. Due to mature content and themes, this book is recommended for readers aged 18+; this novel may contain triggers.
Y’all, I hate to say it, but this book was buns. It was literally the same conversation over and over again for an entire book. Travis cheated on Heaven 10 years ago after she gave birth to their baby. She’s been trying to divorce him since, but somehow cus of reasons, the MC club has judges in their pockets who just won’t allow a woman to get a divorce. Sure. So for 300 pages, he begs for her forgiveness. She says she wants to forgive him but can’t. He does something dumb. She’s like see told you you haven’t changed! Then he begs for forgiveness and she says no, I want to but I can’t. The he fucks up again and apologizes again…around and around we go, over and over again, for an entire book (all the while with him telling every single other character in the book the entire story of him cheating on her—seriously, the story is told at least 10 times. Does this author not know she could just say “so I told him the story” and we will know what the story consists of???) And here’s the thing: I wouldn’t forgive this asshole. But I also wouldn’t beep fucking him for 10 years and allowing him to sabotage every date I have. Forgive him or don’t, but she strings him along for so long that she loses all the high ground she had as the victim.
Here’s the thing. Travis is a piece of shit from the start of the book to the end. He fucks with her birth control, getting her pregnant when she has just passed the bar after struggling in law school for almost a decade. And he’s not sorry. He seems to think this is perfectly fine. And everyone is just like oh that Travis, what a silly. Blah Blah, car accident, coma, she loses the baby but finally comes out of the coma, and he takes her to the motorcycle club and asks her to wait in the main room with the girl he fucked. This is not just asshole. This is like brain damaged. We’re supposed to believe he loves her (to the point of saying he will kill himself if she dies, so I mean, fuck the kid I guess, he gets to have none parents, ok), but he doesn’t immediately take her home and put her in bed?? And then is like “D’oh I didn’t even think of how that might be hard for her!” Sigh.
Also, every woman other than the author-approved ones in this book are whores and idiots. We’re meant to believe that the woman he cheated with is still hanging it around, coming onto him, touching him, TEN YEARS LATER when he won’t give her the time of day!?! No woman is that desperate. And the fact that she’s still at the club because of some dumb club reasons…it’s just exhausting how dumb this book is.
After the main characters have the same conversation they’ve been having since page 1 for the 1,200th time, she forgives him for real. Flash forward 10 years, they have 6 kids, and she’s pregnant with a 7th because he lied and told her he got a vasectomy but didn’t. Oh, Travis!!! The silly goose convention is in town and they want you to do the keynote!! Sigh. This book was balls.
Note to self : not safe, cheating, his secret wife wouldn't go clubbing with him because she just had a baby so he gets mad and fucks a club whore.
Yup that's literally the plot of the book, and she takes him back 10 years later after of course not having moved on like the spineless doormat authors like to write
Also this author is a cheating trope author so avoid her for my safety gang
3.75 ⭐️ Ok… this is a really long review but I want to explain my rating…
This one was incredibly hard to rate. I would’ve definitely given it a 5 because Travis/Anchor definitely proved himself, didn’t cheat again, and spent the ten years after Heaven kicked him out for cheating having eyes only for Heaven. But my deducting 1.25 stars was because of one big inconsistency. First the author mentions how Heaven and Micha (her and Travis’ son) were a complete secret to everyone aside from his parents, her mom, and Steal (Travis and Heaven’s high school friend). No one else knew about Travis and her marrying when they were 18/19 and a year later having a child. Side note- His dad is a club member also, and Steal is now President. So the night Travis gets patched in (he’s 19) and there’s a huge celebration planned and he’s also planned to announce to the club he’s married, is also his and Heaven’s one year wedding anniversary and 2 months after she’s given birth. She’s understandably tired and hurt he’s forgotten it’s their anniversary and he gets mad because he wants her to go to the club to celebrate but she won’t. He storms out to the club, gets drunk and screws a clubw*ore, who’s also the same girl who bullied Heaven in high school and someone Travis screwed once years prior before he even knew Heaven. Heaven shows up for Travis at the clubhouse and finds him dick deep in Ginger’s ass moaning and gives her wedding ring to Steal, leaves and packs Travis shit and kicks him out. Obviously he never announced his marriage to everyone so no one aside from Steal, his parents, and her mom know about her or their son. Now fast forward 10 years, he’s had judges denying the divorce and trying to earn her forgiveness. He’s been faithful and not looked at or been tempted by another woman and still no one knows about Heaven or Micha- or so that’s how it’s supposed to be written- at times.
So where the contradiction comes in is because first it’s just Steal and the parents, then a short time later in the story he plans a congratulatory party for Heaven when graduates college and it’s Steal, his woman and a few other brothers and their wives- but yet no one knows remember??! His dad thought it’d be best no one knew of their existence because they couldn’t offer her protection without her being officially claimed- WTF??? I mean seriously they were from this town, people knew them. It was ridiculous to write the story that way. That’s why the 3.75 stars for this book. It is mainly because of the ridiculousness of no one knowing of Heaven and Micha’s existence. I mean seriously what did Travis do while Heaven was pregnant??? Cage her. Plus he takes Micha to practice along with Steal and is active in his son’s life- like everyday, yet no one, not even his club members know about his son or the fact that he married Heaven 10 YEARS prior! It’s ridiculous and honestly I almost quit reading for that reason. He even has some of the brothers watching Micha at times and yet no one questions who this kid- who happens to look exactly like his father is?? Yeah right. Besides, you’re suppose to trust your club brothers with your life, so it was a little absurd for them to be a secret and no one know. It was especially unfair to Micha. And another inconsistency was when Steal found Heaven working at the strip joint behind the bar. He called Travis who immediately went in claiming his wife and even Heaven told her boss her husband was coming. When Travis shows up he kisses her and announced loud enough she’s his wife so at that point fellow brothers knew as well as members from other clubs. Yet the author still wrote it as no one knew he was married to Heaven. Travis even explained to everyone what happened 10 years prior and why she wouldn’t forgive him. Another thing that had my frustration at an all time high was Ginger. Steal was president. He had all the power to make and change rules. So the fact that he “couldn’t” kick Ginger out was just crazy. I’m sorry but a clubs president has every right to change bullshit rules and throw a clubw*ore out. They are a dime a dozen apparently.
This book was really good and for the most part I really enjoyed it. I loved Travis and how hard he worked to earn Heaven’s forgiveness and never hooked up with anyone in those 10 years. That was especially good to see and something I respected. But it was how the author went about Heaven and Micha. I didn’t like them being a secret and it made zero sense because in another breath it was mentioned how others did know them. And they lived in the same town, associated with the same people as they did in high school, and Travis was active in Micha’s life- everyday.
This was by far CM's most anticlimactic book I've ever read even though there's cheating in it. It was easy to forgive because he was only 19 and stupid. He tried to win the h back for 10 years while also completely being faithful while she denied him and tried to divorce him at every turn. But also had sex with him. Make it make sense. 🙃 Anyways, it was boring, and I don't think I've ever said this about this author's book before. Ginger just goes to prison then get's conveniently killed in prison. Where was the torture? The violence? 🤭😂 This is usually what we get. There's an epilogue 10 years later that's wrapping up a lot of characters except Art who's still living the single life. Is this the end of this series then? At the end she said she had a hockey romance coming, but at this point I'm done with hockey. 🤷 Overall wasn't impressed. Sorr
Then there’s my girl, refusing to give in and give me a second chance, even ten years later. I’ve done everything for her to prove she’s my all, but she won’t fucking budge.
💥SPOILERS💥
Wouldn’t forgive you either, you sod.
“Oh God, tell them to stop,” a whiny voice says from beside me, and I freeze, my heart racing, knowing it’s not Oh fuck, fuck, fuck, please let me have clothes on…. The banging gets louder, and I slowly open my eyes and look down, seeing I am, in fact, naked before I turn my head and see No, please, fuck, no….
I love this one. He worked so hard to get her back. They are perfect for each other. I need more of this series. I loved it so much. Trust issues and a second chance at love. It was almost perfect.
I started the book and read around fifty pages, but put to the side for another time. Of course I’ve not rated the book as I feel it’s unfair, but my thoughts are written below…..
I’ve just downloaded a previous book of this author as I wanted to see a comparison as I just feel something is missing lately. The newer books feel rushed….I can’t put my finger on it. The older books just feel more well rounded and seem to have a fuller more intricate story line. They always have angst, but the angst feels more deep rooted within the characters storyline, rather than just written as words on the page.
The older books feel more intertwined, well developed and cohesive. The newer series of books just feel like words on a page, no real character development, they just feel more superficial and lack emotional depth. They feel so rushed compared to previous books. I don’t know if it’s just me!! I’m a fan of the authors older books and have reread them, so perhaps it’s the older style of writing I prefer.
There is so much repeating of the main controversy even I got annoyed. I gave up at 30%. It’s a shame because it was a great premise I could have been so much better. A decent editor would go amiss either.
I’m all for grovel stories but the whole book doesn’t need to be it. I didn’t like Anchor, he was weak and whiny and listened too much to everyone else.
It got seriously boring after a while the whole he cheated 10 years ago yada yada yada …. It was overkill
Nothing happens.
There’s a few grammatical errors, no where near as bad as her older books. And a few factual errors. Such as the amount of kids she managed to have in only 10 years which when you factor in pregnancy would be impossible to accomplish when the youngest is 2.

Normally don’t like books I’ve read from this author but I enjoyed this one even with the cheating.
A little repetitive and long however I like the FMC tried to do go stuff in her life and the MMC did spend 10 years trying to get them back together. Realistic? Who cares - it was a good read IMO
I guess I need to take a break from this author because I keep expecting something better, rush to get the book then get super disappointed.
OLD Charlotte McGinley? Amazing.
ALL her new books that seem to come out way too quickly? Rushed, repeated sections of the previous books, lack emotional depth, no real character development or growth, unrealistic plots or scenes that make no sense and are easily disregarded and shallow side characters that are only mentioned to further the next book.
For some reason the editing has gone downhill again too. Wrong words, misspelled words, extra words, sentences that run on or don’t make sense, lots of errors.
I’m also over calling these books standalones, needing to read them all (I did) but then getting entire sections and scenes of the previous books repeated for the new books. It’s lazy IMO.
Anchor (Travis) is our MMC and Heaven is our FMC and their son is Micha. OW is named Ginger (Harley) who Anchor fucked in high school once and became OTT obsessed with him and bullied Heaven the entire rest of high school then applied to be a club whore when Anchor prospected.
Prologue- Instant love in high school. Anchor is absolutely obsessed with Heaven from Day 1. Sees her, likes her, approaches her, dates her, marries her, knocks her up in two years. They are 17/18 at the beginning and 19/20 when shit goes down. Then of course 29/30 when story picks up.
Anchor doesn’t even really want to be in the MC but feels like he’s forced into it because his dad is a member and his best friend (Steal) will be President someday. Reflects that he absolutely hates cheaters because his father cheated on his mom (at least twice) and had an affair baby (his sister Cassie). When his mother tried to leave his dad, she was forcibly kidnapped and unable to leave club grounds until “eventually” she gave in, forgave his dad and raised the affair baby.
Heaven is wicked smart, plans to go to college and is in AP classes despite having a very rough home life. Her mother goes through men like water and terrible men at that. She’s moved at least 2x a year every year and almost been sexually assaulted by her mother’s boyfriends quite a few times. She loathes cheaters obviously especially since her mother’s boyfriends constantly cheat on her.
Book opens to Steal, Anchor and Colt being surprised with their MC patches unexpectedly (it was a surprise). Club decides to throw them a huge party.
Anchor is married to Heaven and they have a 2-month-old newborn son. Because Anchor wasn’t officially patched yet, he hasn’t told anyone (besides his parents) that Heaven even exists or that they’re married with a son. What? Prospects are allowed to have women. Stupidest excuse ever.
He rushes home to Heaven and tells her to get ready to party.
She A. Tells him she’s still breastfeeding and doesn’t have a sitter. B. She’s still tired and worn out from being 8 weeks postpartum. C. They’re supposed to have a special dinner with each other tonight.
Anchor gets annoyed, basically calls her a selfish bitch after reflecting they haven’t had sex in 3 months (last month of pregnancy was rough + 8 weeks postpartum recovery), yells at her loud enough to make the baby cry and stomps out. Goes straight to the clubhouse and starts taking shots. Ginger approaches butt naked and he picks her up, tosses her over his shoulder and fucks her. He knew exactly what he was doing so no "drunken mistake" here. He resented his 19 year old wife and infant son.
Heaven at home is feeling really guilty about not supporting Anchor on his special day. She arranges childcare for an hour and plans to tell Anchor he hurt her feelings by forgetting their one-year anniversary and if he’ll just come home with her, she’ll make everything right. Never mind that she’s a teenage bride, teenage mother, dropped out of college and works nights to help make ends meet. But sure, she’s the selfish one. insert sarcasm
She shows up at the clubhouse and asks for Anchor. Gets told he’s fucking Ginger. Goes up to his room, witnesses him fingerbanging Ginger’s kitty while fucking her ass and groaning about how good it feels “better than the sex he had in the last few months.”
Heaven takes off, gives her ring to Steal who tries to stop her, tells him to tell Anchor she wants a divorce and happy first anniversary.
Ten Years Later
Anchor and Heaven are still married. Every time she files for divorce, Anchor pays the judges off or threatens them so it gets lost in the system. When she tried to sell the house, he blocked that too.
Biggest plot hole comes up again, supposedly in TEN fucking years, the club still has NO idea Anchor is married or has a son. Because Heaven doesn’t want him, he can’t claim her as his old lady (huh?!?) but *for her protection* he keeps her a secret from everyone but his parents and Steal.
Again, what the what? She lives on club lands. She’s married to Anchor. He takes their son all the time and goes to all his school events and sports games. But for her protection, the club can’t know about his own wife!?
Later, this plot whole gets worse because we know Steal/Cassidy, Acid/Perrie, Piston/Natalie, their children, his parents, his sister Cassie all know about Heaven too so again, WHY is it a secret from the club?
Even better, the club whore Ginger is still around and torments Heaven every chance she gets. She also tries to sexually assault Anchor almost every time she’s around him. And the club “can’t” kick her out?
Again, these plots make zero fucking sense. ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY INVOLVE THE PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT OF SAID CLUB.
Oh and Anchor’s mother hates Heaven. Because SHE forgave Anchor’s father for cheating on her and raised HIS affair baby, she thinks Heaven is a selfish twat who should just GET OVER IT.
Even better, even though they are not together, do not live together, occasionally, Heaven and Anchor fall in bed together. They both don’t sleep with anyone else (mainly because she’s cockblocked from moving on EVER) so they fight and have sex. Lingering feelings, co-parenting, whatever. Heaven always gets mad at herself for giving in and cries when Anchor leaves. It’s super unhealthy that he’s forced her to live this life because he selfishly doesn’t want to give her up.
Anchor even gets mad when Heaven got tested for STI’s after he cheated on her. Selfish prick.
Anchor’s bright idea to FORCE Heaven to be with him because after ten years she still wants to move the fuck on and get divorced is to throw away or tamper with her birth control forcing another baby on her.
If this was a book where a woman trapped a man, we’d be ready to burn her. But he wants to force another baby on her, when they already have a son just to save their marriage, it’s nauseating.
Heaven to her credit, is a pretty kick ass FMC. She’s stuck to her guns and has for the most part, stayed separated from Anchor for ten flipping years. She’s forced in some ways (like not being able to get a divorce) to do things she doesn’t want to but she’s put herself through school secretly for six years, worked nights as a stripper so she won’t take Anchor’s money and raised her son as a mostly single parent. They haven't lived together in ten years. She also passed the bar exam to become a lawyer all on her own.
Her mother is also a POS and likes to constantly rub it in Heaven’s face that “she told her” that Anchor would hurt her, cheat on her and probably liked sex better with Ginger than he ever did Heaven which is why he cheated. She’s super toxic.
Heaven’s also tried to date but Anchor uses their son Micha to screw up his mother’s dates with fake emergencies and the like. So major emotional manipulation of not only her but the kid too.
Anchor just keeps calling Heaven “stubborn” instead of acknowledging how deeply he hurt her.
Only AFTER ten years does he finally consider therapy and couple’s therapy. Rolling my eyes.
Anchor learns during therapy that he BARELY knows his own wife. He doesn’t know about her mom, he didn’t know about her terrible childhood, he doesn’t know she was almost assaulted multiple times, he didn’t know Ginger/Harley bullied Heaven, he didn’t know she overheard him telling his father he wanted her to terminate the pregnancy, he didn’t realize that he ignored her while prospecting, was barely home, she worked nights and made more money than he did all while pregnant.
In fact, he didn't even acknowledge that his wife who he “loves so much and won’t let go" while he was prospecting. She cooked for him, she cleaned for him, worked nights, paid most the bills and he even almost missed the birth of his own son all for the club. And he still blames her being stubborn. He didn't even know his own mother calls her abusing her verbally and has for ten years about what a selfish bitch she is for not forgiving her son for cheating on her!!!
He doesn’t know she doesn’t use ANY of his money for anything remotely to do with the house. The only thing she uses Anchor’s money for is essentials like clothes and after school activities for Micha while she struggles to put food on the table. He's oblivious. She’s leaving paycheck to paycheck while her son has a savings account of almost half a million dollars.
There’s also SOOOOO much stupid other woman drama. It’s fun if you like that and I do but in this book it was so unnecessary except to literally add drama.
Heaven doesn’t even know that for ten years, since that fateful night, Anchor has only slept with her and remained true because A. The dumbass has never told her and B. Ginger purposely runs into Heaven and torments her constantly. Tells Heaven that she and Anchor have been sleeping together for years longer even than Heaven has known Anchor. And Heaven has ZERO reason to doubt it which makes things worse. Anchor doesn't and hasn't lived with them so why wouldn't she assume he's screwing other women these past ten years?
Especially because NO ONE KNOWS THEY’RE MARRIED. Even funnier, Anchor breathes fire and smoke and jealousy when he finds out his wife has worked at a strip club the last six years but she works behind the bar and the WHOLE strip club knows she's married and off limits.
But Anchor can't say the same since no one knows he's married. Double standards. In fact, he thinks her working at a strip club in a bikini is worse than him cheating "just once".
Like all her books they aren’t bad just unrealistic as fuck. Out of all her books I felt Heaven deserved the most to move on. She won’t forget or forgive his cheating. She tried to get a divorce for ten fucking years. She tried to move on. She tried to forget. She tried to see other people. She lived the life of a single mother for ten years until Anchor abuses her trust and gets her pregnant again without her knowledge only to have her MISCARRY when she’s hit by a flipping car. When Anchor finds out, he tells Steal to make sure to raise his kid b/c if Heaven dies, he'll commit suicide.
He IGNORES the fact that she JUST finished law school and wants to work but he wants her barefoot and pregnant and tied to him so she can’t leave him. He doesn't even know she's been killing herself working nights for 6 years. He's one of the most selfish MC's I've ever read about.
Heaven's in a coma for a month and instead of taking care of their son, Anchor goes to underground fights everyday. When Heaven wakes up and gets to go home, Anchor is afraid she'll want to leave so he tells her to wait in the clubhouse (WITH GINGER) while he's in church. Then he threatens to keep their son if she leaves him. Heaven later comforts him and tells him she still loves him despite everything but she doesn't trust him. Rolling my eyes again
**Her mom does apologize and get therapy.
Boring, predictable, she same formula regurgitated as her other books and weak plot lines with holes the size of a car to drive through.
Now don’t get me wrong, it’s fiction. It’s entertaining. It’s a MC book with stupid Alphas. Her books suck you in with the D R A M A but the quality has really gone downhill.
IRL it’d be emotional, sexual and mental abuse with guilt and gaslighting thrown on top.
It’s TOXIC as fuck. There's no HEA because you can't call it love when she literally has NO choice other than you. He TRAPS her and forces her into a life she no longer wants just like his dad did with his mother.

I haven't read any of the other books in this series, and it still felt repetitive. That being said, I did enjoy it.
I loved that Heaven made him work for it and that even when Anchor wanted to steamroll right over her ( job), he backed off. I am confused about why he wanted to be in the club so badly from his inner thinking and even Heaven's he seemed to go on minimum runs and only show up for church and he didn't even want to join. The most time he spent at the club was when he was prospecting. I also feel like he messed up big before the cheating, and his dad owes Heaven an apology. I thought it was very contradicting that he wanted to make his dad "proud" but then also didn't want to be like him😅
I do wish that we get more on Anchor's mom and dad it sounded like at the end she finally found her backbone and it honestly seemed that she stayed because he wouldnt let her leave not because she loved him.
Yes this book has cheating in the beginning. However I truly believe Anchor redeemed himself. They both worked together and finally were able to overcome some hardship. Heaven learned to forgive and Ginger well she got what was coming.
The writing itself was not bad, the premise is we have high school sweethearts who get married and get pregnant quickly after that marriage. They were both young h having just graduated. The H is a prospect for a MC club. He does not make much during this time so h gives up college to work to support him. Anyway, it’s their one year wedding anniversary and the h is expecting the night at home with dinner etc to celebrate. She is exhausted from having a young baby and basically taking care of herself with the H always busy with the club. He forgets it’s their anniversary and wants her to come to the clubhouse for his patching in party. She is like no he says nasty things to her calling her selfish and goes leaving her alone. She feels bad that they argued and goes there only to find him fucking the ass of her HS bully. She leaves and wants a divorce.
So my low rating is due to plot holes, illogical reasons, and the over dramatic scenes with over sharing of information.
First how did the H not know that the h was bullied in HS when it states they were joined at the hip? None of his friends pointed it out which made no sense given how the brotherhood is described. Second the whole lying and saying they broke up to protect her from a rival club when they bought a house together and were married with a baby. If this club was targeting prospects would they not have followed him? It would not have taken much to discover her. Thirdly, the OW was kept as a club who’re and kept trying to get with H but they were like can’t kick her out because no one knows you are married. Why keep it quiet all those years? 10 years the danger was over and they could have worked out someone to keep an eye on her. Another thing was the way it was just spit out I fucked her bully on our anniversary etc. there was no keeping the business quiet. Also, Anchor did not slept with anyone during the 10 year semi split but there was to much of you need to get over it I made a mistake. Another plot hole she tried over a dozen times to get a divorce and he keeps getting judges to toss it out. That was really illogical she could have found a way around it seeing she put herself through college and became a lawyer which part time studies she was super woman lol. The mothers were unnecessary drama. I still did not feel like he truly understood what he did. For a chunk of the story it was like I made a mistake get over it. Even when the author tried to show he got it I never truly believed it. It felt like that part was too long. The BC tampering the accident the miscarriage was not a meaningful plot item. Him fucking the h in the same room he fucked the OW was gross no matter how long ago it happened.
Also is reasons for cheating were stupid he was pissed got drunk saw the OW and just decided to take her to his room to fuck. He also told her during sex it had never felt this good and h heard that. He tried to say he just meant in months where they had not been having sex seeing she just gave birth to their son. He told his club brothers yes brothers that he would have said it to the h if he had been fucking her because it was just about not having had sex in awhile. Like that was supposed to be ok.
If you want over the top drama with weak plot and illogical reasoning you may enjoy this.

So, I just finished this book about Anchor and Heaven, and honestly... I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about it.
The basic story: they meet, fall in love, he’s part of an MC club, she’s a virgin. They get married but keep it a secret because he wants to "protect" her from club business. Fast forward—Heaven gives birth, it’s their anniversary, and Anchor gets his cut. He wants to go out and celebrate at the club (you know, the kind where people are openly having sex and drinking). Heaven says no—she just had a baby, she’s sore, and it’s their anniversary. Totally understandable, right? Well, Anchor throws a little tantrum, goes anyway, gets drunk, and ends up sleeping with a club whore. To make it worse, Heaven catches him and overhears him saying some awful things about her. She hands over her rings to his friend on the way out and asks for a divorce.
Then the story jumps ahead ten years. Anchor’s been celibate, refusing to sign any divorce papers, basically holding onto the hope he can win her back. They hook up here and there, but Heaven makes it clear she’s not interested in giving him another chance. And honestly, I can’t blame her.
This book was frustrating. Anchor is such an idiot. I get that he was young when he cheated, but the reason behind it? Absolutely shameful. Expecting your wife, who just gave birth, to go out partying at a sex club? Seriously? And then needing his friends to explain why that was a jerk move? Mind-blowing.
But what really got me was that even years later, he’s still making stupid decisions. Like, at one point, after Heaven is discharged from the hospital (she’d been in a coma, no less), he brings her back to the MC club. Not only that, but he expects her to be alone in a room while he goes to church (a meeting), knowing full well the woman he cheated on her with is still around. I mean… what the actual hell? How clueless can one man be? Thank god she wasn't having any of it.
Yes, he stayed celibate. Yes, he’s trying. But honestly? I don’t think he deserves Heaven. At all. He’s a frustrating, clueless man, and I spent most of the book wanting to shake him.

Any holistic and genuine therapist would have said he wasn't giving her space to heal.
But shes Mans Therapist, a Dadvocate if you will, hasn't anyone thought of the poor cheaters who won't free their exes?
The first chance never ended for her, for this to have been a second chance.

The FMC has filed for divorce repeatedly but due to the MMCs influence the divorces are always denied. But what happens when the FMC gives the MMC one chance to change her mind.
Review: This is one of my favorite books by the author. I loved that the grovel was something that took years. However, I was not a fan of the birth control tampering---not cool. I find with this author you either love or dislike her. I seem to fall somewhere in the middle and will be continuing to read her books and review them.

I love Charlotte McGinlay books.. they always hold my interest and have the drama that I like to read about.
Though I do hate cheating with a passion, it's literally my only trigger ( hence the 4 starts, not 5) I decided to pull on my big girl pants and dove in! The cheating was in the first chapter, and wasn't written in too much depth (which I liked) but it still hurt my heart loads and made me furious at Anchor/Travis 😭
Anchor was a 🍆 a massive one. He literally left his wife at home with a new baby and let loose on a club wh0re. Forwards 10 years later where he is still trying to redeem himself and win his wife back. Now the grovel was good, I liked the fact that Heaven (the FMC) held strong for this long and didn't just take him back after a short time. But I still think he needed to suffer more! I don't know if this is because I hate cheating in books, or I just felt that him cheating because he felt "ignored" by his wife was a shite excuse.
But fair play to the FMC for not folding like a cheap suit and forgiving him instantly.
I liked Heaven, but she deserved more. I kinda hoped at one point that she would just move away and find a new man.
But towards the end of the book (and after several moments of hating, then liking the MMC) I was glad when the couple finally got their HEA.
Charlotte McGinlay knows how to write douchy MMC, I always read her books and moan about them to myself. BUT I am a sucker for her writing. I download her books instantly and just read away non stop. Maybe I just love the drama she brings? Who knows? But they hold my interest and for that I adore her books.
I couldn’t wait for Anchor and Heaven’s story, and it didn’t disappoint!
THE GOOD: 1. I LOVED that Heaven stuck to her guns and kicked him to the curb when he cheated on her. There’s nothing worse than a doormat female main character, and it was great to see one written with strength and conviction.
2. I loved that she put herself through law school and reached her goals on her own motivation, despite all the obstacles she faced.
3. Anchor was a great MMC; truly remorseful and determined to regain his family after his screw-ups in the past.
4. I loved seeing the old familiar characters from the series make appearances. It’s like saying hi to old friends!
THE BAD: 1. As usual, there are a ton of editing errors, which distract from the story.
2. It was annoying how, whenever Heaven was spouting her litany of his sins, she had to add the phrase “he took pleasure from someone else” when she mentioned the cheating. Who talks like that? And on that note, it was weird that Anchor spilled the whole story to the dude Heaven had gone on ONE date with, who showed up to warn him off (that whole scene coulda been left out, honestly).
3. It was messed up of Heaven to get the prospect beaten up, just to prove a point to Anchor. She knew perfectly well how he would react, and she basically assaulted the guy, then left him to get his butt whipped. That showed her in a very selfish, irresponsible way, which was a shame, because I admired her for most of the book.
Overall, I loved this series, and hope for more Huntsman stories!
DNF but I did skim quickly to find out what happened.
He: Cheats on their first wedding anniversary when she is so recovering from having a baby - she actually walks in and sees them at it.
Refuses to give her the divorce she asks for and on several occasions bribes judges to prevent it happening. (Why didn't she just go to Reno and get one there?)
Interferes with her contraception (they occasionally have sex) thinking if she gets pregnant she'll take him back - she doesn't. She works out before she actually gets pregnant that he's interfered with her contraception once so why doesn't she go and get an implant or a contraceptive injection or an IUD? 🤦🤦
Several years later after reconciliation he also tells her he went through with having a vasectomy when in actual fact he chickened out when he got there and she finds out the truth when she gets pregnant again! Altogether she has about seven kids with this feckless fool.
Yes he does indeed try to grovel for nearly 10 years but the other things he does are awful.
He is a selfish moron and she is TSTL and a doormat.
Her mother has her own issues with men but honestly as far as he was concerned she was absolutely right.
3 1/2 stars. The h and H are nineteen when they marry and soon after get pregnant. While the h gives up college and cares for her husband, he has some maturing to do. Forgetting that it's their first wedding anniversary, the H has a temper tantrum when the h refuses to leave their two month old son to attend his patching in party. Drunk, the H responds to the advances of a club girl that he f**ked behind the bleachers before his relationship with the h. The OW bullied the h for the rest of the school year. The h arranges a sitter and goes to the clubhouse party to support the H and celebrate with him only to catch him in the act. The h files for divorce. Ten years later, judges paid by the MC have continuously denied the h's petitions for divorce while the H refuses to give up. Early childhood experiences influence the choices of both the h and H. There's vague justification for why the h allows the H to keep trying since it's not clear that the H's priorities have changed i.e., the h and their son above the MC. This book is part of a series with characters and plot lines that overlap e.g., the reason that their marriage and child was kept secret from the MC.
This is book four in the Huntsmen series. I have been reading the series and enjoying the characters. They are a big family and with all the ups and downs of life they still have each other’s backs. I like the realistic feel to this MC. People make mistakes and some learn lessons and some do not. This book took us through multiple relationship trust challenges and how different characters responded differently. President Steal gets a lot of credit from me in this book because he supports his VP Anchor in every way to help his get his personal life back on track. In this book we get to know Anchor from high school to adulthood and it’s a tedious journey. He falls in love with Heaven (love the name and the character) but makes a mistake that tests their love and future. Heaven is a beautiful and intelligent woman who has been influenced by her mom’s off and on relationships with men. They moved around a lot due to this. This story is more relationship focused than MC related; it was a good story where multiple characters learned lessons and benefited from second chances. Read On!
Another DNF, Hillary?! Why, yes. 96 pages of this was enough for me.
The weird choice to skip forward 10 years without giving any fallout to his betrayal was jarring. Me as the reader? I’m still sitting in a stew of rage over what he did, but she’s had 10 years to adjust, and while she hasn’t forgiven him, she’s basically done everything but (including sleeping with him all the time).
And when he convinces her to do couples therapy to prove she and their son come first in his life, he’s late! Because the club business was more important. Not that it mattered. She did that “I’m mad but I’m still going to give you everything you want” move she’s pulled every other moment in this book so far, and I’m just done.
Add to that how she gave up college and her chance of a career to raise her son, and he’s messing with her birth control in the hopes of trapping her into being with him again when he KNOWS she just got her law degree just pisses me off. Honestly, fuck him. And fuck her for not just moving on to someone who valued her outside of sex.
Cheating = H is mad that h did not want to celebrate with him, gets drunk and screws OW
h sees H with OW = h walks in on H cheating and sees him with OW mid thrust
OW drama = OW was the h's high school bully and continues for 10 years to insult and torment the h at every opportunity while also trying to have a repeat with the H who does not want the OW at all and constantly turns her down in very definitive and brutal ways, yet she still persists. Comeuppance? OW does not make it out of a prison sentence alive.
MC = in the background
Grovel = H has been trying for 10 years to grovel until someone has the light bulb moment to suggest therapy. H and h go to therapy and it takes a while but they eventually reconcile. 10 years, lots of grovel through word and deed.
F-preg = H tampers with h's birth control and gets her pregnant intentionally. Later, H does not follow through with a vasectomy and gets h pregnant when she thought H was snipped.
I liked that Anchor was celibate during their 10 year separation (not celibate I guess but they only slept with each other), but it's so gross to try to trap someone. Ppl dislike when women do this to men, so it's not ok for him to mess with Heaven's BC to try to trap her. I felt like he proved himself, and they were doing so good, and I get the traumatic event messed with everyone, but Anchor seriously pulled the same crap and yelled at her for being selfish and making it all about her. I know he didn't know she was being discharged, but Steal seemed pretty lenient for an MC prez. She got to go on a run with the guys and Anchor got to take time to win her back, so he seriously couldn't have called Steal to say he'd be late or missing church cuz he had to take Heaven home? She was in the hospital cuz she was hit by a car and just had a miscarriage. I'm pretty sure her getting home would be more important. From the church sessions we sat in on in this one, nothing major was going on.
That's all it took to know this book is going to be super unsatisfying. If you like books where the male cheats on the female and she continues sleeping with him for 10 YEARS while he refuses to give her a divorce and all he keeps saying is how she's the problem for not forgiving him for his ONE MISTAKE, which he doesn't even remember making, of cheating and verbally insulting her while drunk, on their anniversary with her high school bully while she was nursing their newborn, then you are in luck buddy. This is the book for you. Super hard pass for me though. I don't like betrayed by my body books, cheating where the cheater isn't either kicked to the curb or made to sufficiently suffer before being forgiven, too many flashbacks, or books where the characters seem like irredeemable douche bags. This books hits all of those. Also, the writing is on the immature side.
"Pleasure" is used 22 times to describe what the MMC felt while cheating on his wife.
-his head tilted back with pleasure -pleasure from my high school bully -found pleasure from another woman - found pleasure with my high school bully -look of pleasure on his face - he took pleasure from someone else - the look of his pleasure - pleasure on his face - he took pleasure from someone else - grunted in pleasure - look of pleasure on your face - found pleasure with her - found pleasure with someone else - took pleasure from someone else - look of pleasure on his face - the pleasure on my face - gasp in pleasure - sending so much pleasure - look of pleasure on his face - his pleasure with her - screams out in pleasure
I suggest a thesaurus. Also: ecstasy, bliss elation, euphoria, rapture, desire, fervor, lust, passion, enjoyment, release
3.5 Stars Really, your wife just gave birth to your son and she was tired and want to stay with the baby and you got pissed and went to get drunk cursing her and calling her selfish bitch? And what about you? He may be drunk but he knew what he was doing and with whom and knew that even in his drunk state he told the truth about what he was feeling, even his best friend knew. He went to fuck the horrible OW and saying to her that he was getting more pleasure than the last months. Even if he knew that the OW was the h bully he still would had done that. And he was a hypocrite, in the beggining of the book he regreted that he had sex with the OW, but a few minutes later he got aroused easily by her and when he cheated on the heroine he still found much pleasure with the OW. FUCK OFF your hypocrite.
Got to give it to Anchor. That man was consistent in his selfishness. From the start of the book straight to the end everything was about what he wanted and just fuck Heaven and Micha.
He fucked the CW because she wouldn’t go to the party. Never mind that she was two months postpartum. He wouldn’t give her a divorce because he couldn’t live without her. He messed with her birth control to get her pregnant because in his twisted mind that would give her more reason to get back together with him. He decided to commit the worlds most pathetic attempt at suicide when she was in the coma because he couldn’t live without her and just fuck his son. He brought her to the clubhouse after she just got discharged a week after getting out of a coma. The same clubhouse where he fucked his whore and expected her to wait for him while he was in Church.
✨Consistency✨
His wants and needs were ALWAYS more important than whatever she needed or wanted.
I’m not even going to discuss Heaven’s pathetic self for sleeping with that man after what he did. You do you girly pop 🤚🏽
Anyway, I wanted to read something that would piss me off and this did just that. So thanks I guess 🤷🏽♀️
