Soul Shift: Finding Where the Dead Go

Rate this book
Businessman Mark Ireland’s father was Richard Ireland, a deeply spiritual minister and renowned psychic and medium who counted Mae West among his famous clients. While he loved his father, Mark followed a more conventional path in pursuit of mainstream success—until the wrenching death of his youngest son. This unexpected tragedy plunges Mark into the spiritual world of psychics and mediums in a frantic attempt to communicate with the dead. His defenses and pragmatic mindset begin to fade as he remembers premonitions on the day of his son’s death. He consults a number of well-known mediums and is struck by the remarkably accurate information their readings provide. Mark first meets with Allison Dubois, the subject of NBC’s hit show Medium, and later participates in a single-blind lab experiment with medium Laurie Campbell, filmed for a Discovery Channel feature. He then enters a new dimension of personal paranormal experience, as his own psychic awareness begins to unfold. This dramatic story of a father’s unbearable loss and his discovery of life after death offers hope to the bereaved and compelling evidence that death may not be the end.

I read this book after my 19 year old son tragically passed right before Christmas of 2008. I came across Mark's name a short time after on the internet somehow, and emailed him. The next day, he not only wrote back answering my questions, but continued to comfort me with true compassion and total understanding during my most trying times. He then sent me a signed copy of this book. This should tell you the kind of man Mr. Ireland is, and that he truly wishes to spread the message in a pure and honest way. This book opened up my mind, challenged my thinking, and literally saved what little sanity that I had left after my son passed. Mark Ireland integrates science with spirituality and does it with a sharp intellect all while letting us into his own world of grief and unanswered questions. I thank him from the bottom of my heart for writing this and look forward to reading more of his books in the future.

This book was like a life preserver at a time when I was drowning in grief over my daughter's sudden passing. His experiences helped me to wrap my head around something that required an expansion of my horizons. Ireland's book, this path, has done more to help me evolve than any therapist, medicine or anything else I tried. I highly recommend it for anyone searching for help with their grief.

This is the second time I've read this book and I think I enjoyed it even more this time. Author Mark Ireland has written a moving memoir about the loss of his son, and how he coped with the astounding grief. But Ireland happens to be the son of a world famous psychic medium, Richard Ireland, a one time "medium to the stars." While Mark Ireland was never drawn to his father's life's work, which included proving that life goes on after death, such topics become life saving as Mark Ireland struggled to contact his dead son and is led to his own mediumship and psychic skills with the help of his dead father.

Soul Shift: Finding Where the Dead Go by Mark Ireland. I don't remember when I got curious about the afterlife. Maybe you don't really think about it while your young and raising a family but after your parents, siblings, children and friends start to leave this world we start to think more about it. Also, with watching the programs "Ghostwhisper" and "Medium" on TV, I started wondering more about where our spirits really do go. With this book the author searches for these answers after the death of his son. I think he finds that we shouldn't be afraid of death and that there is more to life than being here on earth but with our own experiences and beliefs we all have to come to our own conclusions. Very good reading.

I'm exhausted. It was so good I couldn't take my eyes of the pages and finished it in a sitting.
I wish there was a way to give it 4-1/2 stars because as I was reading I wanted more research etc on the dreams or on dreams with the Spirit world because I have those dreams a lot. However, the book is chalk full of knowledge etc and it kept me engrossed to the end.

I've read a lot of books sorta kinda like this, I wouldn't say I'm an expert by any means but I understood everything, every metaphysical aspect, every thought process was exactly my path of thinking too.

Insightful. Powerful. Life-changing.

After my son's passing in 2014, I've read dozens of books regarding the Afterlife. This book perfectly captures my feelings, emotions and quest to know where my son is. Very enlightening.
