As an Omega and one of the Cursed, I am feared and outlawed. Volatile magic surges through my veins—an anomaly, a danger. That I've never experienced a Heat only makes me more of a defect to be purged.
The Beta Council has ruled the world, oppressing Alphas and Omegas for centuries. Betas control they decide our mates and even outlaw the packs our instincts demand we form. Our lives are not our own.
After years on the run from the Council, I'm captured, torn from my father, and thrown into an elite military academy where the Cursed are forged into living weapons. We're trained to kill... Then sold to the highest bidder.
I never expected to survive. I definitely never expected to find three Alphas who could touch me without dying.
Raito —the kindhearted tech genius who shadows my every move despite always wearing a blindfold. Colton —the cocky bad boy who hears every unspoken thought. Aubrey — the ruthless, mute warrior who wants nothing to do with me.
The rebellion whispers of Beta lies, of a system built on control and deception. When another pack of Cursed at the academy is discovered, they're executed, made an example of. If my pack wants to survive, we must escape.
We will claim justice by tearing down Beta tyranny. The Cursed will no longer bow—and our path to salvation will bring the Betas to their knees.
Beta Lies and Cursed Lives is an urban fantasy reverse harem/why choose omegaverse novel with fated mates, protective alphas, strong omegas, and forbidden romance. Each book in the Cursedblood Omegaverse series is an interconnected standalone with a guaranteed HEA/HFN ending. The underlying story connects each title and they should be read in order.
Raven Vespo is an Omegaverse Romance author who believes an Omega doesn't need to be soft, pliable, and controllable. Raven has a penchant for writing vast, and sometimes magical, worlds. She enjoys writing series that take place in shared universes readers love to dive into and believes that women should never have to choose between all the gorgeous, supportive men in their lives.
When Raven isn't writing, she can be found spending time with her dogs, enjoying snuggle piles.

A unique plot in OMV?! Just when I thought I'd read everything in this genre, this one comes along.
It has elements I love, like an academy setting, fated mates, and OMV, and it adds a plethora of powers and an oppressed population on top of it all. I've maybe seen these things separately in OMV, but never all together. This was a fun ride.
I really like how omegaverse was almost deconstructed here, giving us a very dystopian version of it. These people had been lied to for centuries, until they had lost basic truths about their nature and needs. I'm excited to see how this society changes as they keep fighting to bring safety and truth back to their world.
There were some issues with the story, like: the world not being completely explained in some parts; the ending happening a little too quickly by other people taking care of things while the MCs were doing their part; their powers and control coming quickly after a point; the descriptions of some of the characters; and the pushing away that one MMC did went on for too long IMO. But honestly, this was so different to read that I didn't mind it at all.
I think we'll get more of the rest of the world in other books about other packs, which is intriguing to me. I'll definitely check out other books.
When I tell you, this is exactly the kind of book I was searching high and low for.
I got to read the ARC for this when Raven Vespo wrote a thread about her beta-readers not reacting anymore and her needing feedback prior to publishing. I jumped into her comments, telling her how I'm not really a beta-reader but a well-versed ARC reader, and I'd be happy to read her book (especially because she wrote about it being Omegaverse, and one thing you gotta know about me is that I'm feral for Omegaverse).
So, fast forward to earlier today when I finished this and was sitting here, wanting to read more. Because while it is very much a smutty omegaverse with lots of good spicy scenes, it has also a hella good plot and a damn good worl-building. One thing Raven manages: she writes Omegas like I've never seen before. While they're usually soft, pliable, and very much submissive to Alphas, hers aren't.
Of course, her Omegas fit the classical narrative in general, but she manages to do so without them losing who they are and any semblance of their general personality. They fight, they have their own strengths, and they aren't helpless fools as soon as alphas are in their vicinity.
The lore of this whole book is so good and damn well thought out. We have "normal" A/B/Os, and we have certain cursed ones. Cursed in this context means that they somehow possess powers, whatever they might be. In order to control them and not let them grow too powerful, cursed Alphas and Omegas are being hunted and sold to fight in wars they didn't start by a regime that builds on their submission. Meeting their fated mates and forming a pack is not only against the law but punishable by death. Cursed Alphas and Omegas are only allowed to breed in certain breeding programs and never get to see the children actually born out of this. They are then put into academies to train their powers, and later are sold worldwide to be good little soldiers.
Not only is the whole plot and world-building immaculate, but all the characters are so well written. We switch between our main four, our Omega Miranda, and her Alphas Raito, Colton, and Aubrey. All of them have different kinds of powers, and all of them struggle to deny their immediate bond.
While the story in general isn't really slow burn, it is with one of the Alphas and Miranda, which I loved, because it makes the dynamic between them just so different and honestly much more believable.
This is a very niche book for people really enjoying the Omegaverse, but if that's you, I'd highly recommend reading this one (especially because book two comes out soon)!
this book was an interesting twist to omegaverse. along with an alpha, beta, or omega designation, some alphas and omegas have “curses” which are essentially powers, unique to each of them. and in this world, those alphas and omegas with curses are controlled by the betas.
our fmc Miranda (Mira) is a cursed omega on the run and after 10 years on the fun with her cursed alpha father, they are captured. Mira is sent to an elite academy to be trained as a weapon to be sold off to be another country to use in their army at any point. but while at the academy, Mira meets three alphas who who smell so good and draw her in and make her feel things she’s never before. and that’s when all the things they’ve all been told begins to unravel.
𝑩𝒆𝒕𝒂 𝑳𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝑳𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔 has Mira and her alphas (including one who is trying to stay away from her) getting to know each other and how their curses interact as a pack. But also uncovering the secrets the betas are keeping and what it can mean for all of society and what exactly they might be able to do about it.
though i wish this book was 100 pages longer, i definitely understand why it wasn’t because as the first book in an interconnected series, it sets up a world that needs to be continued in the books to come. and it does a great job of introducing secondary characters that you want to read their own stories and also a world where you want to know what happens next for everyone.
MFMM, 1st person multi-POV 1 omega fmc, 3 alpha mmcs biting/bond marks, group scene, DP, HEA for pack, interconnected standalone
There was so much to love about this book! I'm so thankful I found Raven on Threads and got to read an ARC of this book. I love Omegaverse books - and this was a great twist on the genre. It's set in a dystopaian earth where Beta's have taken over and rule. Alphas and Omegas with magic (the "Cursed") are locked up, trained for war and sold to the highest bidders. Our FMC, Miranda, was on the run and in hiding for 10 years with her dad before she was caught and sent to the training camp. There she meets her scent matches - MMC Rai, Colt and Aubrey (GIVE ME AUBS ALL DANG DAY!!). I give Raven lots of kuddos - this was a quick and fairly short read - and while this could have easily been 100 pages longer, she was able to provide enough world building and secondary characters without making it longer and the conciseness did not make me feel it was lacking anything. As a debut work, this was an outstanding omegaverse read and I can't wait for the rest of the story and seeing the villains defeated and more packs finding love.
This one drew me in from the first page till the last and I cant wait for more of this world. Being on the run and not allowing anyone close was all Mira knew. Till she was captured and brought to the academy. There she made friends and realized that they were being lied to about so many things. She meets Colton, Rai, and Aubrey and they realize that being close dulls the curses that they each live with everyday. This is an action packed, spicy and steamy read. This world is massive and can not wait for more
It was an unexpected read and yes, I'm rating it a 5-star. It's not a masterpiece but it's a good take on omegaverse. Solid plot too.
I found this while checking whychoose.om and saw it's a newly released one, so I checked it out. And voila, it's great!
Great writing, good characters, not an overpowered FMC and not an omega overwhelmed by scents/knots, etc. I love that the MMCs are powerful but so is the FMC. I'm excited to read Nyx and Lowe's story (bc Rai's brother is probably hot hot hot).
BL&CL is one of the few OV books that I’ve read that kept me entertained from beginning to end. This story follows Miranda and her journey once she arrives at the academy for the ‘cursed.’ Without giving too much away she meets her 3 alphas and the story develops into a chance for freedom and survival on the outside. Away from the academy. This book has adventure, found family, a purpose to rebel and an amazing ending.
In a world where packs are outlawed, and any Alpha or Omega with powers is locked up and sold as a weapon, used by those in power the Betas, Miranda is one such cursed Omega who has been on the run for years with her father is finally found, taken to Cursed blood Academy to be trained and sold, meets three Alphas that she feels drawn to like she has to no others before.
This is a dystopian omegaverse with a twist, and it's amazingly well-written, fast-paced, and slow-burn. I couldn't put this down and devoured it in one sitting.
I love the dystopian world; while there is still heat and knots, it's a world that is ruled by greed and fear.
The connection between Mira and Aubrey, Colton and Rai, is felt from the moment they first meet. How each of them fights to figure out exactly what is going on between them feels intense; with their powers often uncontrollable, their fear tugs on your heartstrings.
This is definitely a must-read for any Omegaverse fan, and with the extra dark twist, it will live rent-free in my head for years. I can't wait to read the next book, I must admit, Zephyr quickly became my favourite from the moment he appeared on the page.
I signed up for an ARC of this but didn't remember what it was about and I was blown away. i loved everything about this book!! it was such a cool concept, I loved how they powers worked, I loved the characters! I want so much more in this world!! I love that this was such a unique take on Betas being in power. I cant wait for the next book! I highly recommend.
A fantastic and original Omegaverse. This is an Omegaverse unlike any other.
While it contains elements common to every Omegaverse, this book also contains well-written elements that make it so much more enjoyable and exciting to read.
I can't wait for the sequel, which I will definitely read.
I did not expect this to be goooood. Omg. I love the magic system, characters are well developed, and this was not boring at all. Although there’s a lot going on, it’s easy to follow. No random spicy moments for no reason at all.
That was actually so good! I enjoyed the fast paced plot, spice, story line in general. You could read it in one day as it was so easy to follow yet still had those thrilling moments. Absolutely loved it
Such an enjoyable and unique omegaverse novel! I loved all the different abilities they had and each Alpha was perfect in his own way! My only complaint is that it was too short! I want more! Guess I'll just have to wait for book two! 😂
I loved this story so much! The X-men vibe with naughty bits was so fun. I cannot wait for the next book coming out in November I think. I will definitely be recommending this one to my sister. Amazing 🤩
