How to Buy Whole Life: A Framework for Becoming Your Own Banker

Rate this book
How to Buy Whole A Framework for Becoming Your Own Banker is a practical guide for how to think about implementing Nelson Nash's Infinite Banking Concept (IBC) in your own life. The goal is to prepare the reader to feel competent and confident in approaching a life insurance agent in order to apply for your first or next IBC-style whole life insurance policy.

Here's an overview, chapter by Policy Covers the basic elements of a whole life policy—the base policy, Paid-Up Additions (PUA) premium, cash value, death benefit, and dividends—and explains how they fit together. How to Avoid a Modified Endowment Contract (MEC): Explains what causes MEC status and how we can safely avoid it.Using Your Reviews various policy owner rights.Policy Gives a full breakdown of how policy loans work, including policy loan interest, and explains why the policy loan is such a favorable credit instrument.Direct and Non-Direct Explains the different approaches life insurance companies take in choosing to reduce or to not reduce dividends whenever a policy owner carries a policy loan balance into a new policy year. The Policy Purchase Dives into the logistics of the life insurance application process and suggests questions to consider to make your interaction with an agent as positive and productive as possible.
This is not an attempt to convince you to implement Nelson's IBC or buy life insurance. This book is for people who have read Nelson Nash's book Becoming Your Own Banker and have "caught" the IBC, but who want to know more about exactly how this all works in practice.

As co-host of the Banking with Life podcast with James Neathery, creator of the Whole Life Insurance Mechanics lecture series on YouTube, founder of Griggs Capital Strategies, and now author of How to Buy Whole Life, Ryan is a leading advocate for Nelson Nash's Infinite Banking Concept. In every aspect of his business, from low or no-cost education for the general public, to working directly with clients, Ryan's goal is always to equip the individual to think for themselves. Like Nelson said, "if you know what's going on, you'll know what to do." Trained in the Austrian School of economics, with three years of direct mentorship from Nelson Nash himself, and with over seven years in the life insurance business focused exclusively on the IBC, Ryan excels at doing just that—helping the reader, the student, and the client to understand what's going on in the world of IBC and whole life insurance.

If you'd rather learn, than be sold; if you're seeking deeper understanding on how IBC-style whole life insurance works; and, if you want to do IBC the way Nelson Nash taught, then this book is for you.

Definitely the best book on whole life nuts and bolts I’ve read.

This book is thoughtfully laid out. It is dense, yet concise. Not a lot of watered down pages or “fluff”. It is definitely worth the price of purchase.

The author’s writing style is direct and straightforward. If you want an author that tries to offend no one and provides boilerplate advice for the masses look elsewhere.

After reading, I feel even more confident in purchasing my next policy, and even learned more about my existing policies. Much of this content not being discussed in depth elsewhere.

For the person further along in their IBC journey, this should be required reading. I would even recommend beginners to read it after Nelson’s book.

Hope you enjoy and stay capitalized!

Clear, helpful

This book takes the big picture ideas from Nelson Nash's "Becoming Your Own Banker", and explains how to actually put them into practice. Griggs clearly explains the mechanics of whole life insurance, addresses common pitfalls and misconceptions, and cogently argues for specific plan structures and treatments that he finds most helpful.
