Technico Game

Rate this book
“Okay, so we’re getting a VR version of the game?” Sandra says. The entire school is watching this, including the people who have already graduated. The Central group is lounging on beanbags in the gym, with holograms showing the other schools watching from their campuses, in much the same setting.

Nico is floating over their heads, looking far too smug. “Everyone has their comms updated, right?” They wave their hands or call out their agreements. “Thanks to the holographic headphones that Jonas insisted on getting, I had an idea. Your VR helmet is… virtual!”

They stare at him, and then either cheer or start groaning at the terrible joke. “So we just bring it up like we do the headphones?” Carla asks, already tapping on her comm. A second later she’s wearing a semi-transparent helmet. “Oooh, we can change the colors on this, right? Wait, does this mean we’ll see the real world at the same time? Wait, here, tap… this!” she says, and a bar solidifies in front of her eyes. “I’m good, now!”

Gaming in a story

So many characters it is almost impossible to keep track of relationships. I generally like this series but had a difficult time with this one. At least the characters had fun.
