"Saint Jensen" is a deeply emotional, suspense romance about forbidden love, buried secrets, and what it really means to belong to someone...by blood or by choice.
Jade Matthews has always done what’s expected of her. Raised in privilege and groomed to be the perfect daughter, she’s spent her life chasing her father’s approval, even if it means marrying Vaughn Davis, the man he’s chosen for her. But while Vaughn looks perfect on paper, their connection feels more like obligation than desire.
Everything changes the night Jade meets Jensen Taylor, the cinnamon roll–with–a–jawline bar owner. One stolen kiss turns into an unforgettable night, and suddenly, Jade is questioning everything, especially the life she's being forced to build with a man she doesn’t love.
Torn between loyalty, shame, and the pull of a love she can no longer deny, Jade must choose between keeping the peace or burning it all down to finally be free.
For a debut I think this was pretty solid. I'll be honest, I didn't really like the beginning. And there were scenes that felt a bit off, like when Jade's mother revealed huge a information to someone she didn't even know. But once I hit 55%, the conflict started to shine and that's when I found myself completely hooked.
Jade as the fmc? Obsessed. She's strong and badass, I love seeing her growth as she finally stood up against the pressure and expectations around her. Meanwhile Jensen as the mmc is so sweet, protective, willing to do anything to keep Jade happy. I couldn't help but feel a lil jealous of her😔. The writing really pulled me in and made me feel connected to Jade, while also making me want to throw hands at Vaughn, Richard, and Mason 😮💨. And besides the main romance, Alisha also gave us a peek at the second leads, which already has me excited for Bodee and Rae's story!
Jade is an extremely rich girl who is set to be married off to a guy equally as rich. Their family still believes and arranged marriage, because her father is super wealthy and wants to keep his circle that way.
Jade wants no part of this arranged marriage. She’s moving, kicking and screaming, into an apartment with her and her new fiancé will live. The only bonus is leaving her abusive father and doormat mother behind.
Her first night in town, Jade decides to go out to a bar and live up her life one last night before she’s trapped forever. Since she’s never got to experience going on dates, having friends, or even getting drunk, she picks the first most popular bar she sees.
When the hot bartender catches her eye, she decides to really throw caution to the wind and have a one night stand for the first time ever.
Jensen is the hot bartender, who plays hero to most of the people in his life. He makes sure that his employee Rae is safe from an abusive ex, and that his brother stay sober. He’s used to saving people, so what’s adding one more person to that plate? Like maybe a pretty girl who is stuck in a life she doesn’t want?
This was a story unlike many I’ve read before! I don’t always like a darker read, but this story was very interesting and kept me engaged! Jensen is an amazing MMC, and I loved jade as well! There are a few spicy scenes, and overall this was such an interesting plot from start to finish!
Thank you yo NetGalley for the ARC of this title! I LOVED Jensen! He is an awesome MMC. Such a sweet and gentle soul until you mess with his woman! And Jade, I love her back story and how it all comes together! The twist in the middle was so shocking. This book was so well written and I really enjoyed it. I cannot wait to see what the author has in store for Rae! Honestly I was surprised that this was a debut novel! I like it so much, I bought a trophy copy for my shelf :)
If you’re a fan of Catherine Cowles or Elsie Silver, you will love this one!
This book was amazing from the first chapter! I can’t even begin to put into words how much I loved this book. The FMC Jade was set to marry Vaughn .. ew 🤮 anyways she moved to Texas from her parent’s house In Florida. Jade was trapped from the moment she was born by her dad’s dictation & abusive behavior, although her family was wealthy she wasn’t able to be free. Jade shows up to her new apartment in Texas and goes out in a need of a drink. She ends up at A local bar and has a hot steammmmyy sexy night with the owner/bartender Jensen. Their connection and chemistry right off the rip was unlike any other. Things start to get complicated once her dad arrives and is planning on staying until the horrible arranged marriage of Jade and Vaughn. Jensen & Jade were so likable throughout this entire book 😍😍😍 I finished it in one sitting because I could not put it down!!!
✨arranged marriage with a twist ✨found family ✨protective MMC ✨one night stand ✨suspense ✨family lies and deception ✨forbidden love
Read Saint Jensen because it was recommended in my bookclub and I'm so glad it was! Loved the storyline and the twist. It was a quick read that Im still thinking about! Great debut novel, can't wait for the next!
Can we say hooked from the first lines? This one “roped” me right in and what an exciting and wild ride!
This story hit me to the core - feeling all the emotions. Nerves - check Adrenaline- check check Excitement- hell yeah Anger, sadness, a lil fire if ya know what I mean (wink, wink) it was everything!
All of the characters were absolutely incredibly well written. I adore Jensen and Bodee, that brother bond is something special. Rae, she is one tough chick and I’d be proud to call her friend!
Jade was an absolutely mesmerizing character, strong and fierce. I have so much respect for how she comes into her own and develops into the badass you know she’s destined to be.
I cannot say enough about how I loved this story - but it absolutely had me texting play by play reactions to a friend…just that good!!
I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this book! From the development of ALL of the characters, to spice, love, a little bit of murder, and an amazing plot - this book is not one to be missed! I’m a huge fan of getting to know main characters, as well as side characters and I loved feeling like I knew all of them personally by the end of the book! Everything starts in such a way that draws you in, and makes you not want to put the book down. And by the end, you’re wishing there was already another book OUT continuing this story! My favorite read thus far this year, and I can’t wait to see where it goes! 5 stars for the lovers, the little bit of “getting revenge” fans, and a little bit of spice for the gorlssss!
As a debut novel, this was phenomenal! I could not put this book down and was hooked from the very beginning. I love the multiple POVs and seeing the characters evolve. This book is a wonderfully written, mildly spicy, dark romance with some murder in between, what could be better? Be aware there is some domestic violence mentioned as well, but it was written with care. Also, I loved the bonus chapter teaser! GIVE ME MORE ALREADY.
Thank you so much for allowing me to be an ARC reader, this is a story that will live rent free in my head for a while and I will be telling everyone about when it releases.
Wow, what an ending! It definitely left off on a climax! 🤭
The story of Jade and the delicacy that the author used to tell of the trauma she faced prior to moving to TX and during the book was amazing. The hard-to-read scenes were not distracting with overbearing details but straight to the point.
Also, Jensen is such a sweetheart!! His actions and feelings towards Jade are so wholesome. It was so refreshing to see an MMC be so sweet and caring to their SO, and allow her to take the lead or have space when needed.
I’m looking forward to reading the next installment for Bodee & Rae!
Saint Jensen is hands down the best book I’ve read this year. A.D. Baker delivers a masterclass in storytelling—packed with emotion, adrenaline, and unforgettable characters. From the first page to the last, I was hooked, heart racing and fully invested. This book has all the feels, all the fire, and that perfect edge that keeps you up way past midnight. If you’re looking for a story that grips you and doesn’t let go, Saint Jensen is it.
From the very beginning, Saint Jensen had me completely drawn in. The tension, the intrigue, the slow unraveling of emotions—I couldn’t put it down. It’s the kind of story that grabs your attention and doesn’t let go.
This book took me through a whirlwind of emotions. I felt it all—nervous anticipation, heart-pounding moments, excitement that kept me flipping pages, and a few gut punches of anger and sadness. Oh, and let’s not forget the spark that brought the heat (wink wink). It had just the right mix of intensity and heart.
Jensen and Jade- holy moly the chemistry. I was super lucky to get my hands on an ARC of this one and I cannot wait for everyone else to join the party.. Starting off you’re immediately hooked because excuse me, wtf is going on here. Not as spicy as other books I usually read- but the story way more than makes up for that. And holy plot twist, iykyk. I love that we really get to know all of our main focus characters- and I’m kind of excited to see what’s next for some of them. Definitely a great read, with parts that will have you on the edge of your seat as well as a few tears shed along the way! Alishia is a writer we all need to keep an eye on- because there are sooo gonna be more stories and surprises on this journey!
Here I thought I was gonna read this cute fluffy romance and while it did have its heartfelt cute moments between Jensen and Jade (love them together😩) the murders, betrayals, surprise half siblings, family secrets, and traumas these characters have been through really captivated me and kept me wanting to read it all in one sitting. This book had me audibly gasping, laughing and crying all in one. Definitely recommend and I CANNOT wait to see what A.D Baker has in store for these amazing characters in her second book!

4.25⭐️*ARC REVIEW* Wow I was not expecting all of the action in this book 👀. It had me on edge and I could not guess what was going to happen next 😅. And there was definitely some morally gray instants that had my mouth wide open. Throw some romance in, and its a beautiful recipe. 💕👏🏾
This book was amazing right from the first page! The characters are all so well written that you feel like you really know them
The FMC Jade goes through so much growing up and then when she is sent away. She is an incredibly strong woman to go through everything she did and come out in the end even better.
The absolute man the MMC Jensen is…whew. He knew what he wanted and went after it. He stood up and treated Jade like the amazing woman she is when no one else would! Also let’s just say he knows EXACTLY how to use a mechanical bull.
The side characters - Rae and Bodee (Jensen’s brother) added so much to the story. You grow to love them just as much as Jensen and Jade from the very beginning!
This was an amazing read, and to be a debut novel - it was phenomenal! The author really put her heart and soul into this. You can tell just by how well the story is laid out and written! This releases November 1st and is already available for preorder on Amazon/Kindle! You don’t want to miss out on this one!
ARC REVIEW I loved this book!🫶🏼 There's spice, love , drama, family drama, taboo, half-brother, contract marriage, murder, abuse, torture, a hot bartender, a mechanical bull, a wild best friend, a sheltered FMC, a dark and broody bad boy with a motorcycle, and a happy ending-estranged family, heartbreak. It ticks all the boxes, and I love it ! There 's literally something for everyone. You 're going to want to speed right through it because it keeps you on your toes, wanting to know more. It's written so well, and it truly is a five-star read for me, which says a lot because I usually go for the darker, darker dark romance, but this had everything I want in a book. 10/10 perfect 😍

Let me start by saying Vaughn you can eat a bag of dicks!
Jensen and Jade y’all are the best couple ever! This story will live in my head for a while. The way it gave insight to jades backstory was nice. A little plot twist in the middle which keeps you interested. I honestly enjoyed this book so much and can’t wait to read more of your work Alisha ❤️
Huge thank you to Alisha Baker for having me be apart of her ARC team for the release of Saint Jensen!
*PLEASE NOTE* I will be editing this review a little at a later date as I plan on rereading the last 20 pages. I had a very stressful day due to acquiring a two week old kitten and I did not give the ending of the book/review the full attention I wanted to! This is on me.
I really did have an enjoyable time reading this but I have a few complaints and we will discuss it all! I feel like I will be a little harsh at times but this was still a 4 star read for me!! Keep this in mind please.
This was a VERY fast paced read. Honestly, I felt like it was too fast paced… granted this was a short read too. This genuinely feels like it could have benefited from another 75-100 pages. A lot of the storyline, plot and character’s backgrounds almost felt rushed and I think the extra pages/explanation would have made the world of difference. But being a fast paced and short read is not exactly fully a complaint since I was hooked from the first page and it never lost my attention!! Like the pace was set immediately and it never wavered!
The book was extremely dramatic… like I felt like it was like a Bravo show meets a psychological thriller. Does that make sense? It constantly kept me on my feet and I had no clue where this was going at any point. With that being said, it was a super entertaining read. If you love the drama and secrets, this is for you. If you’re not one for the dramatics, I don’t think this will be for you.
Alishia’s creatively was extremely unique. Honestly, I do not believe I have read anything like this before! I really am excited to see what she continues to do with future novels. I also really enjoyed her writing. It did not feel like this was her debut novel. There were parts that felt a little jumpy but that can happen with any author (Examples: Time jumps, order of events etc.). There was a few other times where it felt like the ball was dropped but honestly, they were times where Alishia could have been choosing to not follow up on those topics (Examples: Jade’s virginity, Jensen’s shot foot, Jade’s broken nose etc).
I wish I saw more of Jensen and Jade, their relationship, background and like more build up. Like it just felt like they were skimmed over and rushed through in parts. But granted, I’m not a big insta love girl so this was a tough spot for me. However, where it felt like Jensen and Jade were rushed through.. it felt like Rae and Bodee were set up perfectly 😎 I am foaming at the mouth while I hope for their book!
⚠️ Here are my unhinged reading notes!! Please proceed with caution as there may be minor spoilers! You have been warned! ⚠️
It’s 13% and he just cut her panties off with a knife and I don’t think I’m well. Slow burn? We don’t know her. It’s 8 after 4 in the morning? And they hung out after the bar closed? I don’t believe it. And why is Rae coming back to work at like 4 something in the morning when she works at a bar? No. Not her liking a photo from 10 years ago. And me having secondhand ✨🌈 anxiety 🌈✨ over it. This chick gave him her virginity and didn’t say shit??? I’m sorry, what?! But also… you know what I’m thinking. Vaughn is a weirdo just barging in on her. Wait she def liked the photo before he sent her the panty pic. DRAMATIC ALERT SOUND THE ALARM SOAP OPERA. I honestly don’t know what my thoughts are here with Vaughn. The second hand embarrassment is real. @ 54% I am going to vomit. Bodee and Rae book?? A THIRD PLAYER HAS ENTERED THE CHAT!!! Mom, can a letter opener slit a throat? Dude, we’re in the thick of it! We don’t need to do a spin and wellness check! Let’s keep it moving! Why are you taking off your shirt in times of peril?! Bodee and Rae? Houston, it’s so dramatic. And I’m over here like 🍿🍿🍿 At any point, did anyone think to call the police earlier? I just feel like maybe that would have been a thought. Idk don’t listen to me. I’m just a girl. Are we not going to the hospital for the shot foot or broken nose? No? I mean okay interesting decision. I’m not a doctor but I trust your decision. But also I am basically a doctor because I watch Chicago Med like a doctor. So wait.. she moved in with him after like 2 weeks and one traumatic event? *starts a U-Haul chant* Is she ever going to admit that she was a “virgin?”
Why couldn’t he have been Batman instead of a psychopath?

First off, this deserves so much more than 5⭐! AD Baker absolutely knocked it out of the park with her debut novel, and I'm officially a fangirl!!
Jade, is being forced into an arranged marriage with an absolutely abhorrent human being, Vaughn, and the beginning finds her moving to Texas to be with him in a new apartment provided by her parents. Having never stepped a toe out of line, she decides to go out her very first night, and this is when she meets bar owner Jensen. There are immediate sparks & chemistry between them followed by a very interesting scene on a mechanical bull. While he is used to being the one to love 'em & leave 'em, he is not happy that she runs out while he is sleeping...but she was honest with him about her future.
Jensen can't stop thinking about her and slowly finds out her secrets and what's happening with the help of his friend Rae & eventually Jade's mother. The abu$e and secrets will have you disliking everyone in Jade's life and have you cheering for Jensen and his brother. But, those secrets...I was completely floored! Saint Jensen definitely lives up to this nickname.
Jensen & Jade were adorable & oh so likable throughout this entire story, and I had NO troubles finishing it quickly. I really cannot wait for book 2 now. Rae & Bodee are going to be great!
Thank you, so much, for allowing me access to this ARC, Alishia. I am in awe of you!!
Huge thank you to the author for allowing me to read an ARC of this debut novel!!
💥💥💥💥 POTENTIAL SPOILERS 💥💥💥💥
. . . .
What I loved most is the whole premise. I enjoyed where this story took me. It was such a unique approach and I could tell the author was aiming for something unlike anything else readers have experienced before. It was such a wild ride in more ways than 1! 😉 The spice was verrryyy entertaining!
There were a couple of moments that I felt Jade's characteristics didn't match what I would expect coming from an extremely sheltered child, as she is described, but I do commend the character growth towards the end of the story.
The 'big secret' was a great twist! The people who knew and just let her be a part of it, had my jaw dropping. I do wish the reveal was played out a bit differently. Her mom was quick to just hand over the information without even knowing his name. I think part of her reasoning was because she felt trapped and at a loss. She had tried revealing it before so maybe she felt it wouldn't matter but I think maybe a different approach would've been a bit more climactic for me. I also think having Richard and Mason together when it was brought up would've been kind of cool too.
I think readers looking for something new would enjoy this story. The characters are likeable and the direction the story ends with sets up for a continuation of more. I can't wait to see what else the author has to show us!

I am so honored that my friend, AD Baker, trusted me with an early read of her debut novel, releasing this September! I’ll be honest — when I first picked it up a few weeks ago, life and a reading slump got in the way. But once I gave this book the time it deserved, I devoured it in two days, only putting it down to be a mom before diving right back in.
Yes, it’s a romance (my favorite!), but I wasn’t prepared for the depth, weight, and heart that was woven into the storyline. The plot flowed effortlessly, the characters felt real — both the main couple and the secondary ones (whose spin-off story I’m already counting down for) — and the emotional resonance took me by surprise. It’s clear Baker writes from a place of heart and lived experience, and I found myself highlighting more quotes in this book than in any other I’ve read. Some lines hit me right in the gut, some in the heart, and a few quietly healed little pieces of me I didn’t know were still tender.
And for my fellow romance readers — yes, the spice is just right. I wasn’t expecting trauma dumping, healing, and seduction all wrapped in a beautiful, satisfying bow… but I’m not complaining one bit!
I would have supported AD Baker in any writing endeavor simply because of the person she is, but this book? Chef’s kiss. I can’t wait to read more from her — and I am so ready for Rae and Bodee. Don’t make us wait too long!
3.25 star Thank you to the author for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Saint Jensen was a promising start for a debut author. I really enjoyed the dual POV of Jensen and Jade. I'm not a big fan of insta-love, but I did really like their meet cute, sizzling one-night stand, and the way they were drawn to each other. It made sense that Jade would latch onto the first kind soul she encountered since she led such a sheltered and restricted life up until her solitary night of freedom. The author did a very good job of creating character development and growth for not only the 2 main characters; Jensen and Jade, but also for the secondary characters as well. For a debut novel, this was very good. A few of the scene transitions were abrupt, but there were no confusing elements nor plot holes. The book did take an interesting turn about halfway thru and escalated into an outlaw/mafia romance, but at least the action was engaging, and the "bad guys" got what was coming to them. The prologue was sweet and realistic and I would very much be interested in a Bodee and Rae sequel. There's a lot of promise for a full series with potential HEAs for Zane and even Jade's mom.
This book kept my attention easily and made it hard to put down while I was reading because I always wanted to know what was gonna happen next!
Jade is the FMC. All she’s grown up to know is to be quiet and take her place at a man’s side. But when she decided to take her only chance at one night of freedom before being stuck forever, she ends up finding a man who made her feel alive. Who made her want to take risks and learn to live outside of a bubble that was created by just money and no love.
Jensen is the MMC and whew, I love him. He worships the ground Jade walks on and would go to the ends of the Earth if it meant Jade was safe and happy. He’s gentle and patient and kind. His love and loyalty to those he loves knows no bounds.
I also loved Rae and Bodee. I truly felt like this whole group became a ‘found family’ in every single aspect of the word because each one of these four would do anything to help the others.
Overall, for a debut novel, this was a great book. Easy to follow along with and I really enjoyed getting to know the characters!
Thank you Alishia Baker for this ARC opportunity :)
first and foremost, i would like to thank AD Baker for giving me the opportunity of reading her ARC. i am incredibly PROUD of you and i am so lucky to have read this book before its debut.
Saint Jensen is definitely a book that will be engraved in my brain. from the start, it captivated me and i could feel how much i empathized with Jade. feeling like she was trapped in this life without choice. i feel like i can’t say much without blabbering and spoiling the whole book 😂.
i hate how long it took me to finish this, as i unfortunately was going through a reading slump. but with every sentence i read when i had the time, i did want to keep going because one thing i would love to point out is this book never slows down and it keeps its pace! im telling you the way this book had me at the edge of my seat, had me looking like 🫣, even screaming at my kindle like “COME ON”😂. i love a good romance book but add action and amazing side characters? sign me up!!
i hope you all fall in love with Jade & Jensen as much as i did. i feel as if i could feel their chemistry, their intensity for one another. AD wrote their story so perfectly. 🩵
WOW Slow burn, we don’t know her! I loved everything about this story, I am a sucker for a little dark romance, if you can even call it that, that I have ever read. Jade, such a bad ass, and a reminder that you can truly do anything and the women truly are the blueprint! Jensen, I expected nothing less from the MMC. He was swoon worthy, gentlemen-like and was not afraid to stick up for what is right. I was super excited to receive this as an arc, it was just what I needed to get out of the reading slump that I’m in or WAS in. This was a very light read in terms of pace wise. I loved that we got dual POV and a couple from Rae. Speaking of Rae, I hope her story is next in the series because she’s one of those characters that you root for from the moment you meet her. If you love small town romances with a little bit of drama, then this is the book for you! I am super excited for its release and recommend it if you love authors like Devney Perry or Elsie Silver. Small town romance with a twist. So excited to see everyone love it as much as I did!
I could not put this book down! I can’t believe this is A.D Baker’s debut novel! If you love a golden retriever man with a dash of who did this to you and touch her and die, then you’re going to absolutely LOVE Jensen! I actually really loved Jade as well! She wasn’t the typical whiny FMC that we see a lot in romance novels lately. I loved the banter and the spice in this as well! A.D Baker’s knows how to write a spicy scene, that’s for sure! 🥵 I can’t forget to mention that not only are the main characters amazing, but the side characters really made the book just that much better! With it being a romance book with a bit of a thriller suspense vibe, spice, and murder, it’s got it all! I mean really, what else could you possibly want out of a book?? You’re not going to want to miss this one, I promise!!
Thank you @adbakerisanauthor for the opportunity to beta read your debut novel!
I fell headfirst into this one immediately because the storytelling is so beautiful. It was easy to imagine myself riding in the passenger seat with Jade as she road-tripped into the next chapter of her life or the unease she felt in a crowded bar, desperate to grasp onto anything familiar like a peach Bellini order.
The chemistry between Jade & Jensen is instant and probably obvious to anyone paying them even a moment of attention. Typically I am a “slow burn” girl but I loved the instant spark here.
The first half of this novel showcases the lack of power that Jade has over her life, despite growing up with her pick of silver spoons. But it’s at the halfway mark that the story takes off running. The twist had my jaw on the floor, it is action packed, and Jensen’s character absolutely shines.
What in the hot mess did I just read? This romantic thriller was completely unhinged in every direction. The spice comes in hot right out of the gate, then completely disappears until the end. It’s far longer than it needs to be, the plot ends, and then it just drifts into pure daydream fulfillment. The writing is wildly incoherent (hopefully something a copy editor can help with). The characters are impulsive, childish, and deeply unlikeable. There’s not a single redeeming person in the mix. It’s packed with toxic masculinity and questionable behavior, and still predictable like a soap opera. I regret requesting this one and am genuinely questioning the judgment of those five-star reviewers. It reads like fanfiction written by a thirteen-year-old.
Thanks to NetGalley and A.D. Baker for access to this book.
