Welcome to The Church of Salvation, where your soul checks in but never checks out.

Raised by his drug-addicted mother in the small town of Coraki, Australia, Monroe Morgan is determined to escape a life steeped in misery. With dreams of a better future, he has secured a job at his brother-in-law’s pub in Coffs Harbour and is set to start as soon as he turns eighteen.
However, a month before his departure, Monroe’s life takes a drastic turn when his neighbour, Indi, appears at his doorstep, battered and scared for her life. She reveals harrowing details about her upbringing in The Church of Salvation and declares that she is being forced to marry the church’s pastor against her will.
Concerned for Indi’s safety, Monroe plans to take her with him when he leaves. But on the morning of their escape, he is jolted awake by blood-curdling screams coming from next door.
A violent confrontation with Indi’s father ensues, resulting in Monroe’s arrest and a year-long stay in Rozelle Hospital for drug-induced psychosis.
In a cruel twist of fate, Indi’s father denies her existence, and the doctors and authorities dismiss her as a figment of Monroe’s imagination.
After a year of treatment and recovery, Monroe returns to Coraki determined to find Indi and prove she is real. However, the visit to his old neighbourhood soon unearths a web of dark secrets, and he finds himself at the centre of a decades-old cult conspiracy. He’ll have to summon all his strength to discover not only where Indi went, but who he truly is, before more young women mysteriously wind-up dead.

♥ Overall Thoughts & Rating ♥

Whew! This was a full on horror story, mixed in with mystery and psychological thriller vibes! I was able to read and listen to the audiobook at the same time, which I absolutely loved! The narrators were amazing and really brought this story to life! This book was both creepy and terrifying. The name and cover of this book is what ultimately led me to want to read this and I am really glad I did! It is a medium paced read, has diverse characters and has vivid descriptions. The male main character ends up in a psych ward hospital because he is told that the girl he sees is not real. I had no idea what was going to happen next, because this story is full of twists and turns you don’t see coming! Be sure to read the content warnings! Overall, I give this a 4 out of 5 stars rating!

Happy publication day 🎉🥳🎧

I actually really enjoyed Psychosis Diagnosis and the full cast of narrators made for an interesting fast paced and at times really creepy read/listen. The only thing that held me back in regards to rating was that at times it was a bit confusing for me, also despite the content it has a real YA feel to it, both in the writing and the storytelling. It’s not a bad thing by any means and it could just be that it’s not my usual genre.

The story was really a mix of a split timelines, family secrets, voodoo, shape shifters the occult and a cult. If that’s your thing u think you’ll love it.

3.75 🌟

This audiobook has a full cast of narrators (Jodie Harris, Karen Chilton, James Fouhey, Ari Maza Long and Tamblyn Lord), which really brought this horrifying story to life. It is a rather creepy listen at times, with plenty of psychological suspense.

Featuring religious extremism/cult vibes, inpatient mental health treatment, voodoo/dark magic, drug-induced psychosis, family secrets, and some mind-bending twists. This story is told from multiple perspectives, through dual-timeline, and set between New Orleans and Australia. The narrators depicted the varying accents well.

Give this a read or listen if you enjoy horror stories, dark magic, or mind-bending supernatural thrillers.

After listening to this, I am definitely on the lookout for more Nikki Minty stories!

This book was a wild ride! I was never completely sure where it was going. The audio performance was dynamic, with various narrators representing the different characters, even within the same chapters.

Going into this read, I wasn't exactly sure if this book would be my thing. I will admit, I wasn't a huge fan of the title, and with the MC being so young, I was nervous that it would be on the YA side. However, I was pleasantly surprised on both fronts. The plot was quite complex and included many different horror elements.

The writing lured me in, and the audio performance kept me hooked. There were some pacing issues in the middle, which is why it lost points. However, I'm still recovering from whiplash with all of the unexpected twists and turns.

There is a dual timeline aspect. The plot contains supernatural horror and some descriptive scenes that were super creepy. Mental hospitals, voodoo, cults, and psychedelics were also a part of it. The mystery was well developed with a mind-bending ending.

Thank you #Netgalley for an audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

(3.5 rounded up)

We follow Monroe, who’s just trying to survive life with his drug-addicted mom in a small town in Australia. He’s got a plan to finally leave and start over, but then Indi, his terrified neighbor, shows up covered in bruises, saying she’s being forced to marry some creepy cult leader. Monroe tries to help her escape… but things go sideways fast. He ends up in a psychiatric hospital for a year after a violent fight with her dad, and suddenly everyone is telling him Indi never existed.

Now out, Monroe’s on a mission to prove she’s real and figure out what the hell happened—and it only gets weirder (and darker) from there.

I liked how this book mixed cult horror, mental health themes, murder mystery, and just the right dash of “wait, is this real?” to keep me turning pages. You’re constantly questioning what’s real, who to trust, and what Monroe’s role in all of it really is. The cult aspect was especially eerie, with its manipulation, control, and how far people will go to bury the truth.

It’s definitely unsettling in spots and touches on a lot of serious stuff, but it still managed to be an enjoyable, fast-paced read.

Psychosis Diagnosis by Nikki Minty, with multiple narrators this audiobook catches you from the beginning and keeps you there abused Monroe is trying to hold on until the summer when he can move with his sister get a job and be free of his abusive parents but when his neighbor Indiana comes over and tells him of the terror she’s living in he wants to help only his attempt to help leads him to the mental hospital. When he gets out of the hospital he wants to prove that not only is he not crazy but Indiana does exist but, is in trouble. The story is set in 1998 and before and as it bounces from New Orleans to Australia the story and falls but where the story ends is almost unrecognizable from the beginning this is a great horror story and there is just too much to give a brief summary I mean being in a cult is one thing But a cult with superpowers is totally another. This was such an awesome read I have never heard of this author before but I will definitely read more from them in the future. I love the Australian accent in general and the fact of the narrators were Australian made it that much better. It was so good what more can I say I totally recommend this book it has horror supernatural happenings and a great plot. There’s many twist and turns not to mention the awesome epilogue.#Netgalley, #BooksGoSocial, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview, #NikkiMinty, #PsychosisDiagnosis,

I received an advanced reader copy of this book, which I was really excited about, because I loved the Zadok Series written by Nikki Minty.
Psychosis Diagnosis was a dark and twisted story that had me questioning “who can I trust” with many of the book’s characters. I really liked Shaina’s character from the start. I appreciated that she was tough and that she wasn’t afraid to put herself in harms way for some answers.

I’m looking forward to checking out the audiobook version when it’s released because I really enjoy listening to a few of the narrators who are listed.

Religious cults, dark magic, abuse, and love.

Dual timeline starts this book - as you learn about a boy being abused and forced to deal to survive and you learn about someone pushed into dark magic when he searching for friendship. At times, the two timelines overlapped enough that it was a big confusing on when was when. The rage of the characters was terrible - I'm not sure what the push is with books having everyone just be RAGING at all times is in stories but it's uncomfortable and takes away from the read for me. The terrible people were just awful and the abuse was pretty terrible. But even though that all, this felt like a very YA read about growing up, learning from decisions, and trying to fight right and wrong and sort out the belief in god and the devil. I liked it but found the anger hard to listen to. The does have audiobook a full cast and I highly recommend enjoying this story this way.

A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

Welcome to Coraki, where cults are creepy, reality is bendy, and trust issues come free with every chapter.

This one starts with Monroe Morgan—traumatized, determined, and just trying to get out. But then Indi shows up with a backstory straight out of a nightmare cult handbook, and everything goes boom. Next thing you know? Screams, blood, jail time, and a psych ward stay that’ll have you questioning everything.

Nikki Minty’s writing is fast-paced and immersive, with a vibe that’s part psychological thriller, part dark mystery, part “what the actual heck is happening?” The twists hit hard, the cult stuff is chilling, and Monroe? Deeply flawed but impossible not to root for.

If you like your thrillers twisty, unhinged, and cult-flavored—Psychosis Diagnosis is calling your name.

4.5 stars—because nothing says “fun weekend read” like escaping a brain-melting conspiracy.

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial Audio and also the author Nikki Minty for this audio copy of psychosis diagnosis.

Love love love!! This book is an amazing read! If you love magic, witches, and betrayal you’re in for a good one! This also has a cast of narrators and they made the book so enjoyable to listen to!

This book has an amazing concept and it was well executed. Set in Australia we follow Monroe Morgan who grew up with his drug addict mother. He grew up in a shaggy house and one day he met his neighbor Indi, she confided in him about her dad abusing her and he decided he was going to help get her out of there away from her dad but then he gets locked away for a year. After getting out he finds out indi doesn’t live in the same house anymore. Can he find her before it’s too late late? As Monroe is on the hunt to find Indi he moves in with his sister and starts working at a pub, he uncovers so many dark secrets that he was never aware of. We follow multiple POVs on this book and I love how just the ending ties everything together.

This book made me remember what a 5 star book is. I loved it so much. I’m definitely buying a physical copy.

The narrators did a great job. The story takes place in the 90’s it goes back and forth to 70’s, the past, and it’s multiple POV which I enjoyed most, the story was very captivating and medium paced with horror factors and somewhat of a psychological thriller as well. The thrill and the plot twists had me hooked until the end and the ending was satisfying once everything came together. It has been a while since I was so gripped by the plot until the end and I would recommend to anyone who likes thrillers, dark magic and horror stories.

A psychological thriller that will have you questioning who and what to believe. Reading this book was like piecing a jigsaw puzzle together. The author gives you a little truth at a time until at the end everything falls into place seamlessly. If you like darker themes like voodoo spells, soul sucking cult leaders, dark magic and ghosts then you’ll probably enjoy this book.

Psychosis Diagnosis gives The Skeleton Key vibes, kinda the same concept but with its own creative storyline. It’s unlike anything I have read so far.

The audiobook production was very well done. It came with a full cast recorded in duet narration. The narrators did a great job.

Narration by Jodie Harris, Karen Chilton, James Fouhey, Ari Maza Long and Tamblyn Lord, was very good

Thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial Audio for ALC of this

A creepy church where your soul checks in but never checks out.

This is a chilling paranormal thriller set in, Australia, where we meet teen, Monroe Morgan, living with his drug addicted mother. Before Monroe has the chance to leave home upon turning eighteen, things take a drastic turn when his neighbor, Indi, has appeared at his doorstep, battered and scared. Monroe plans to take Indi with him to protect her but has a confrontation with Indi’s father, where Monroe is ultimately removed to a year-long stay in a hospital for drug-induced psychosis. Upon his release and determination to find Indi, Monroe soon uncovers dark secrets and finds himself in the middle of a cult conspiracy. Where is Indi, who can you believe, and what can you believe?

This is a first read for me by this author. Her storytelling with the creepy atmosphere, creepy characters, and the twists and turns made for a decent read. Touching upon cults, ghosts, witchcraft, and secrets

Chilling, surprising and compelling!!! Just a few thoughts I had while reading this book. It kept me enthralled until the end.
I really felt for Monroe throughout the whole story. His sense of not having control all his life… I actually felt anger towards Enzo many times.

"Welcome to The Church of Salvation, where your soul checks in but never checks out"

I was intrigued by this book because the blurb sounded really interesting, and I was definitely not dissapointed!
All the different narrators managed to have me hooked to the story from the start.

I really liked all the characters from the start, and loved seeing all the different timelines and how they slowly came together and we started to see connections.

The worldbuilding was also really amazing, and it felt like you were right next to the characters in the building.

I also really enjoyed the writing which made the story a fun and quick read.

Can definitely recommend!

Buckle up, buttercup, because Nikki Minty's "Psychosis Diagnosis" just blew my mind! Seriously, WHAT. DID. I. JUST. READ?! This book is a glorious train wreck of spooky, mind-bending twists that had me muttering "WTF?" with every turn of the page.
Minty masterfully throws you headfirst into a psychological thriller that doesn't let up until the very last, shocking sentence. The way she weaves between characters and timelines could have been a confusing mess, but instead, it adds a delicious layer of intrigue that kept me utterly hooked. In fact, it made me love this book even more!
It's rare for a book to genuinely surprise me, but "Psychosis Diagnosis" kept its secrets locked tight. I didn't see that ending coming at all. If your literary cravings lean towards psychological thrills, a dash of dark magic, and maybe even a ghostly whisper or two, then stop what you're doing and add this to your TBR immediately. Trust me on this one. Five stars? Absolutely! Mark your calendars, thriller fiends – "Psychosis Diagnosis" drops on May 13, 2025, and you do NOT want to miss it!

I received this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a solid mystery thriller with supernatural elements. The first thing to note is don’t judge this book by its cover, it is far more complex and interesting than the cover implies. We have three main POV’s two young men and one single mom all dealing with complicated family and relationships. The audiobook had a full cast as well. It was a little slow and repetitive in the middle, but I would recommend this intriguing mystery. 4⭐️

(4.5) This book follows multiple POVs in two main timelines and locations in two countries, but it does it all seamlessly. A variety of characters tell the story, each revealing parts of the story or the lies they believe, leaving the reader guessing who has the right pieces of the puzzle and how they fit together.

I read this book primarily as an audiobook because the narration was just SO GOOD and engaging!! There was a large cast of FIVE narrators to cover female and male characters and a variety of accents that added so much to the story! I rarely have a preference between audio and physical reading, but in this case, I have to recommend the audio! The voice actors even screamed or moaned when it was written in the description, which really added to the atmosphere and made the story come alive. The only things I could critique were that the child's voice didn't sound like a child (but he only had a few lines) and in one scene I couldn't differentiate between Enzo's and Jeremiah's voices. Other than that, it was better than I could have imagined! 5/5 narration!

I'm not sure if this is due to the stellar narration or the engaging writing, but I couldn't believe how quickly the nearly 12 hours flew by! I need more books like this!

Thank you BooksGoSocial and Nikki Minty for allowing me to access an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review!

Themes: family, deception, (dark) magic, supernatural, religious cult, psychosis, power, trust, secrets

Style (0.75): The style of writing was concise and clear in a way that I think is appropriate for the genre while still evoking the right level of mystery and confusion (about the plot, not the writing). It was also written from mutiple POVs, but it didn't annoy me, as can often happen with multiple POVs. They all added significant substance to the plot. Though it tells the story very clearly, it could have used some of that flowery prose I love to describe some of the imagery.

Plot (0.75): It was a well-paced mystery/thriller with some horror and supernatural elements that I loved. I love a good psychological thriller with a potentially unreliable narrator that plays with my mind and keeps me guessing. The plot twists weren't too surprising, but I still enjoyed them! The ending also felt very tidy and complete.

Atmosphere/Setting (1): In the end, I listened to the audiobook and the variety of narrators and accents really added to the atmosphere immensely! That is not to say that the atmosphere wasn't already well described in the prose. Despite jumping timelines, POVs, and locations, everything felt well-connected and I could easily separate them in my mind's eye.

Characters (1): I liked the variety of characters in this book. We were never sure who to trust, who was telling the truth, or who knew the whole truth. In reality, (I think) all the characters knew only parts of the truth and it was fun to see them all try to put the pieces together.

Enjoyment (1): I fully enjoyed this book! It was a little different from what I normally read, but I was very glad for the change!

Convinced Indi is not a figment of his imagination, Monroe unwittingly takes on powerful foes in his efforts to rescue her

Monroe has had a rough upbringing, exasperated by lapses in his memory, and things only get worse when his neighbor, Indi, comes to him for help. She claims her father is marrying her off to the pastor of a cult, and she wants to escape, but she keeps confusing Monroe with someone named Enzo. After an incident between Monroe and the man he believes to be Indi's father, Monroe is institutionalized for a year. No one can find a trace of Indi, and the entire family living next door denies her existence, leading authorities to believe Indi is a figment of Monroe's psychosis. Upon his release, Monroe is determined to find Indi and get her to safety, but a new family is living in Indi's house, where she continues to leave messages for "Enzo." Monroe will uncover more than he bargains for in his quest to free Indi from her fate.

Psychosis Diagnosis by Nikki Minty was an incredibly well-written book. Told in multiple timelines across two continents, Minty's storytelling is rich and captivating. The diverse backgrounds of the characters and Enzo and Jerimiah's experimentation with dark magic build the foundation for a haunting and thrilling story spanning decades. The intertwined relationships of all of the characters add complexity to Monroe's challenges. Based on the cover art, this is not a book I would have picked up on my own, but as soon as I started reading, I was immediately sucked into the narrative. I finished the entire book in a single sitting, unable to put it down.

While Monroe is a teenager, the story can be enjoyed by both young adults and adults. There are gruesome scenes, including depictions of torture, but none are exceedingly graphic. The narration is presented in duet style, creating an immersive experience. All of the narrators were fantastic, and I enjoyed the authentic Australian and Louisianan accents. I would recommend Psychosis Diagnosis to readers who enjoy horror thrillers, family sagas, and the occult.

I received an audio ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.

Unfortunately, this was another DNF. This time at 64%.

I was originally put off by the title and cover art, but after someone in a discord I'm in read it and said they weren't sure how they felt and wanter a second opinion I decided to give it a go.

I kinda wish I hadn't.

This is a story about abusive parents, dark magic, cults, mental health, and more supernatural stuff that I can't get into without spoilers.

Now, all of the above sounds very interesting, but the way it's handled isn't the best.

For the most part it is split between a troubled Australian teen with substance abuse and other mental health issues from abusive parents with their own substance abuse issues and a strange girl who he is trying to save from an abusive cult that may or may or not be real, 'drug psychosis', or something more spoooooky, and an American man some time before the book's setting whose mum is a witch and his best friend/ enemy does dark magic and the cult they start to stay young, as well as hoping between a couple of other perspectives for no real reason...

The stories eventually converge with some reveals that left me feeling more 'and what?' than anything else, particularly because of just how poorly the dark magic storyline is handled and explained.

I don't need to know the minutia of how magic in a book works, but it's just a thing here that seemingly only three people know and can just do. There's vague talk of offsetting darkness onto others than feels more like bullshit carbon offsetting than anything else. There's just zero grounding or worldbuilding for the magic and that sucks.

The handling of substance abuse, mental health, abusive families is all very shallow and pure pulp storyline stuff that, while it doesn't feel super disrespectful, doesn't exactly feel nuanced and respectful.

I'm sorry. I just don't care.

However, I was positively living for the full cast narration, especially the various glorious examples of Demi Lardner coined as 'Screen Australia Voice'. Honestly, this was by far my favourite thing about this book, and if someone had done the earnest, "...it's okay mum" trope of so much Aussie drama, I probably would have stuck with it.

All in all, it wasn't as bad as the title and cover lead me to believe, but that's not saying a great deal.

Rating: 4.5/5 – A brutal masterpiece with a side of gothic chills and no damn hand-holding.

Welcome to Psychosis Diagnosis—where trauma has trauma, and love is the softest thing wrapped in barbed wire.

Nikki Minty doesn’t write a story so much as hurl you headfirst into the shattered glass of Monroe’s life. Poverty? Check. Addiction? Check. A mother hunting for drugs in the carpet like she’s in a coke-fueled Easter egg hunt? You bet. The setting is bleak, the prose is raw, and the pain is so visceral you might need a breather (or five). And yet—it’s addictive.

Monroe isn’t your classic broken boy with a savior complex. He’s a mess. A loveable, angry, self-sabotaging mess, and thank God for it. His connection with Indi—our bruised, cult-survivor heroine with ice-blue eyes and spiritual PTSD—is tender in the most unflinching way. Their bond is less about healing and more about surviving long enough to maybe dream about healing someday.

And just when you think you’ve got your emotional baggage packed and sorted—bam!—enter Enzo. A 1920s New Orleans subplot that slaps you with dark magic, guilt, and the slow corruption of innocence. The dual timelines are like a literary seesaw: Monroe breaks your heart; Enzo haunts your soul. Together? They gut you clean.

This isn’t a feel-good book. It’s a feel-everything book. It’s grief and grime and the kind of hope that limps more than it soars—but it is hope, and that’s what makes it stick.

Trigger Warnings: Drug abuse, domestic violence, cult trauma, self-harm, gore, sexual violence (off-page), psychological trauma, and all-around soul-punching darkness.

Final Verdict:
If The Outsiders had a baby with Sharp Objects and raised it on a steady diet of angst, horror, and emotional warfare, Psychosis Diagnosis would be the result. Come for the devastation, stay for the strangely beautiful ruin.

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial Audio for providing me with the ALC of Psychosis Diagnosis in exchange for an honest review!

Okay, I won’t lie—this audiobook was incredible. The full-cast narration brought the story to life in the most immersive way. Each character had a distinct voice, which made it so much easier to follow the complex, shifting dynamics, and the emotional performances added a lot of depth to the experience. Honestly, one of the best audiobook productions I’ve listened to this year!

The story itself was gripping and unsettling—in all the best ways. Psychosis Diagnosis follows Monroe, a teenager trying to escape a traumatic past, who ends up entangled in a horrifying web of cult abuse, mental health misdiagnosis, and small-town secrets. The Church of Salvation is the stuff of nightmares, and the book tackles themes of gaslighting, isolation, and institutional failure with chilling clarity.

As a horror fan, I loved the blend of psychological suspense and occult themes. The pacing kept me hooked, and I never knew where the story was going—just when I thought I had it figured out, another layer unraveled. That unpredictability really worked for me and kept my brain engaged the whole time.

This was a wild ride! It took me a little bit to get into the story since there was a lot of background information at the start but once the pieces started coming together I was hooked! The narrators did an amazing job of bringing the story to life and giving personality to each of the characters. I appreciated all the various accents and switching of POVs to keep me entertained.

There were so many twists and turns I was always guessing what was next and who the true villains were. As someone who is not religious, the way the cult members blindly followed Jeremiah was how I imagine a lot of religious people are. It brought a real element to the story and I kept rolling my eyes at the stupidity of the group members at times. I wanted to feel so bad for Enzo and really hoped that he had a redemption arc but he was just as corrupt as Jeremiah in the end.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for a copy of this ARC book and audiobook!

Talk about a psychological roller coaster!! These are the books I live for… and all my wtf moments carried all the way until the end!! The very end! There’s a little bit of dark magic, a little bit of cult, a lot of bit of thriller and creepy to boot.

I enjoyed this one a lot.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the free copies.

The narration is was great and I enjoyed the full cast!

This is a great story that has a very ominous atmosphere and was really entertaining. I would recommend this! Special Thank you to Nikki Minty, BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for allowing me to read a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
