They say running away doesn’t solve your problems. I say those people didn’t run fast enough. Fresh out of options and carrying more baggage than Heathrow Terminal 5, I land in the last place I ever expected—a remote farm run by three insufferably gorgeous, infuriatingly protective men. The Gage boys. Aiden, the cocky flirt with a smirk that could melt steel. Ethan, the brooding force of nature who sees too much. And Ben, their father, who somehow feels like the kind of home I never had. I tell myself this is temporary. Just a stopover while I figure out how to move forward without the ghosts of my past clawing at my heels. But the thing about ghosts? They don’t stay buried. And when the demons I’ve been running from finally catch up, I learn the hard way that monsters wear familiar faces—and sometimes, they don’t hide under the bed. They walk among us. The Gage boys say I’m theirs. That nothing and no one will ever touch me again. I want to believe them. I just don’t know if I can outrun the darkness long enough to see if they’re right.
A raw, emotional, and darkly addictive story of survival, found family, and a love fierce enough to bring the broken back to life.
Perfect for fans of tortured heroines, protective heroes, and the kind of romance that leaves scars—beautiful ones.
Where do I start?! I felt such a close connection with the FMC and it was amazing to go through her journey with her. I devoured this book…to say satisfied would be an under statement 😏 but I need more; but with that being said and this being the first book in the series. I can’t wait to see what “comes” next…😏
This is the first book in the Northwood Dale Series featuring The Gage family. Ben Gage and his two sons Ethan and Aiden live and work on their farm in Northwood Dale.
We meet Brynne, a young woman with a difficult family history who is sent to live with the Gage family when her grandmothers illness becomes worse.
We follow Brynne as she gets to know the Gage family and settles into life on the Farm. As her relationships with both Aiden and Ethan grow and develop, she also has to face her past trauma and try to begin to heal. As events unfold, new threats arise that put Brynne and the Gage family to the test. Their relationship boundaries are pushed and changed and even the future of the farm is at stake.
I am so glad I came across Samantha and her books. I love this world she had created, giving us small town romance vibes but with some darker themes running through the story. I was hooked by the storyline and just fell in love with the Gage boys and their farm.
I really enjoyed how Brynne and Ethan's relationship developed and how we saw the other side of Ethan too as the story progressed. There were some really great spicy scenes that now live rent free in my head. So excited to read the rest of the series!
Spoiler Below! So I found out about this book on Booktok like I do with most of my books and I am so happy that I did. I love a small town romance and it was so nice to have one in my home country, the UK. I laughed, gasped and cried reading this book and actually had to put it down when I got to poor lightning, but I loved every single second of it I love the relationship that grew between Brynne and the boys and to be honest at first I did wonder if this book was going to be a why choose as I was really unsure who was actually going to be the love interest. I am so happy it was Ethan though, Aiden is definitely like a brother to her and would have felt a bit awkward. I am very excited to see Aiden's romance next and how he is going to soften up Alex into giving him a chance.
I predicted quite quickly who buys the farm, mark was t mentioned again, maybe next book? Slow start to this, downloaded next one hoping there’s more to it
