This released TODAY (June 24th)! Go read it 🥳

I honestly can't believe how underrated this author is! Her books read like the ones of a bestselling author 🤩

The pace of this book was really fast and once I started, I couldn't put it down. I loved the story premise of Aisling looking for a home and wanting to find that through travelling, I could really relate to that.

The main conflict was that Brodick had already found his home and Aisling was still searching for what could be hers. I like that their love for eachother was never question, just how they would get to their happy end.

I received a free, early copy from the author in exchange for an honest review | Releasing June 24th

Excuse me! Travel romance + workplace romance in the same book?! Just gimme it!
Seriously, this book has everything I like: a young and inexperienced FMC searching for a place (or a person) she can call home, a super hot, older, and much more experienced MMC who is totally smitten with the FMC from page one, beautiful descriptions of Irish and Scottish places and traditions, some angst, lots of swoon-worthy moments, and some delicious spice! So yeah, I totally recommend it!

I absolutely adored this story. The author writes in such a way that I felt I was right there in Scotland and Ireland, without being too heavy on every little detail.
Aisling and Sloane are hilarious together, but it's when Aisling is on her own that she really becomes interesting. And Bern. Bern! I think I now have a thing for guys in kilts!
The ending was perfect. Incredible. Aisling needed some time to figure out what she really wanted, and when she did, it was beautiful.
I started this book knowing I was going into book 2 of a series I hadn't read before, and expecting to be lost or out of the loop. I wasn't, this story is perfect on its own.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this review.

Thank you to L. Meredith for providing me with an ARC of Brodick. Brodick is an open-door romance and is the third installment in the Killorglin Series, however, it can be treated as a standalone. This was my first time reading from the author and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ainsling Bryne-Flynn has wanderlust and aims to follow in her father's traveling footsteps searching for a home when she winds up in Brodick, Scotland with her cousin to check out Brodick's version of the Highland Games. There she meets Bernard (Bern) Galbraith, the town's doctor. Bern is older and is ready to settle down.

I loved the chemistry between Bern and Ainsling. It was evident from their first introduction that there would be magic between the two of them. There were multiple times throughout the story that I found myself smiling. Bern is steady, dependable, and patient; precisely the type of person Ainsling needs. What I especially liked about this book (and I've found I like more and more) is there was no third-act breakup. It had the perfect amount of spice if you like an open-door romance.

If you love a Scottish Romance, definitely check out this book!

MEN IN KILTS!!!! CRIMINALLY UNDERHYPED AUTHOR!

🔸️Age gap
🔸️Opposites attract
🔸️He falls first
🔸️Your next book boyfriend
🔸️Scottish setting
🔸️Guaranteed HEA

Quick Synopsis:

Aisling is following in her father's footsteps traveling the world and feeding her wanderlust. Her and her cousin Sloane we traveling through Scotland and found themselves in a small town called Brodick. Whilst enjoying the Highland Games event taking place in Brodick, Aisling runs into a member of the Galbraith clan; Bern a small town doctor who takes her breath away and may just be everything Aisling set out to find.

Thoughts:
I loved this book right from the beginning. The FMC has a few embarrassing moments that made me giggle and laugh because I realized I've had similar experiences! I was able to connect with the FMC right away, through these vivid experiences and it hooked me from the start! I loved the banter between her and her cousin Sloane and Sloane has some great advice for Aisling and really is her rock in certain situations. Their relationship felt genuine and sincere and I loved her role in bringing Aisling closer to Bern!

Bern is perhaps one of the best book boyfriends I've read about in a very long time! There's nothing but green flags with him. He's thoughtful, sincere, caring, he plans meaningful dates, he has hard conversations without being defensive and arrogant and he's just all around a good guy to be around! The book was a bit of a slow burn, but I promise the on page spice was well worth the wait! The spicy scenes fit very well into the story and don't overshadow the main plot. Additionally, the intimate scenes between the characters, really highlights the importance of consent and communication which I thought was beautifully discussed as the FMC is a v!rg!n. Again, this is why Bern has so many GREEN flags, because he communicates with Aisling about her body, and her desires.

Bern and Aisling have such a genuine connection in the book, that there wasn't a single moment that felt tacky or cheesy. Their romance was relatable, to the point where I've felt the exact same emotions, or shared the same experiences as the FMC.

The Scotland setting was beautiful, particularly the town of Brodick. All I wanted was to jump through the pages of this book and be there enjoying the games, and washing it down with a "wee nip of Scotch"!! I just fell in love with these characters, the setting, and this author's writing! I've read her other books now and I can not recommend them enough! There's just something about these books that tug your heartstrings while still delivering that HEA in a plausible non cheesy way! Please go read this book!!!

Spicy Rating: 🌶🌶🌶/5

Thank you L. Meredith it was such an honor to read this book!

Brodick by L Meredith
Tropes: age gap (35m, 22f), strangers to lovers, Scottish romance, travel-workplace romance,

Spice: .5/5 🌶️
Stars: ⭐️

Aisling is a 22 year old college graduate, looking to find the place she feels most at home- we meet her during a visit to Brodick with her cousin Sloane. From minute one with Bern she’s a scared, but smitten, kitten. He’s an older, established Scotsman to her young, naive Irish lass. They have an immediate kinship though not without its hiccups from her strangely adult thought processes preventing her from just letting loose and seeing where things go. There’s also a significant amount of references throughout the book about feelings of arousal and she doesn’t seem to recognize what those are even though it is stated that she’s kissed and such before? And is also an adult woman who has, realistically, touched her 🐱 at some point in her life??
Bern is fine- he says all the right things and is a handsome doctor for the town of Brodick. There is no doubt as a reader that they’ll work out in the end, in spite of their differences in both age and life experience.

I generally enjoy an age gap romance but this one really bothered me. I’ve been trying to put my finger on why and I’ve landed on:
1. Aisling is annoying. She’s very closed off for being raised in such a gregarious family. She is extremely innocent- her inner monologue is very matter of fact and decisive while her outer persona is very meek and wishy-washy. Her virginity is not even what makes her innocent in my eyes, it’s just the epitome of her character.
2. This book is a sloowwww burn and failed to keep me captivated. The cover is cute and the premise is great, the execution just fell very short. No part of me was eager to keep reading or excited for what came next.

I’m always grateful to receive an ARC and I believe there is an audience that would eat this baby up. It just isn’t my cup of tea. ✨

eARC Spoiler free review :)

This was a cute book! I’m very grateful for the opportunity to read it. The FMC, Aisling, wanders into a small town on a last minute whim while traveling with her cousin Sloan and meets an older man that she has an instant attraction to, and the feeling is mutual! I loved the idea of this book, but i do feel that Aisling was a little annoying. I guess it makes sense with her being younger but that made it a little hard for me to read. Bern, the MMC, is a small town doctor and he is very sweet, the typical perfect book boyfriend. The setting of Brodick and the description of the different areas visited throughout Ireland and Scotland were very appealing to me.

I love reading a book and being so lost in the feelings between the two characters that I don’t even notice the timing of the relationship being too fast but I couldn’t do that with these two. I just wish that there was a little more banter between them and maybe a little more confidence on Aisling’s part. It seemed like it was more of a physical attraction from the beginning and there wasn’t enough of an emotional connection, from what I read, to warrant this instant love connection.

📖 Book review 📖 Even a rolling stone in the lush countryside of Ireland gathers no moss, and so Aisley follows in the wanderlust lifestyle of her father. But there is a longing inside her wishing for a firm place to plant her feet; she just did not expect to hear the wind whisper Scotland in her ears. Brodick, Scotland might draw anyone in with its charm but there’s more to the local landscape that’s appealing to Aisley. A certain young man has caught her attention, but Aisley continues to struggle with finally putting down roots.

L. Meredith delivers one breezy, beautiful read that is just the right tempo for summer! The writing was atmospheric and the perfect escape; my only regret during this read was wishing I was in Scotland (but I will accept that as I always wish I was back there). As I read this book happily exhausted at the end of a whirlwind day of adventure on a road trip, I appreciated Meredith’s artful weaving for both the sense of adventure and desire to find a place to call home that can find a way to coexist.

In L. Meredith romance novels, you can count on sweet FMCs, swoon-worthy MMCs, and raunchy banter between friends (or in this case, cousins).

Bern is mature, level headed, and kind. Add to it that he’s an attractive and athletic doctor and you’ve got a winner for a love interest!

Aisling is still figuring out what she wants to do with her life when she meets Bern but she’s only 22. They had cute and sweet moments together.

I enjoyed the Scottish and Irish settings. It’s clear the author does her research! I could envision what it must be like to be there with the characters. A love story in Scotland feels extra romantic.

Having read Killorglin, it was fun to read the conversations between Aisling and an older, mom-and-dad-version of Laurel and Patrick.

💝 Younger inexperienced FMC
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Swoon worthy Scot MMC
🩶 Age Gap
❤️‍🔥 Slow Burn, strangers to lovers
🔥 Some open door spice in the second half of the book
💫He falls first

This story follows a 22 year old woman who hasn't found the right person to give all of herself to. She enjoys traveling and is searching for the place that feels like home. She finds herself in the small Scottish town of Brodick with her cousin Sloane, where she meets Bern. Bern is older, more experienced and didn't realize he was missing anything until he laid eyes on Aisling.

So, so close to be a 5 star read for me. There were some things that could've been better researched. And I wish the spice spiced more 😅😂 Also the epilogue...

All that said... I'm absolutely feral for Bern 😍🫠

This was a sweet story. I enjoyed the development of the relationship. Absolutely loved the MMC.
The FMC is in a bit of denial for longer than I wanted, but she's also only 22, so I feel like her wishy washy state or confusion is a bit normal.

Overall, it is a nice story of love and finding home in unexpected places.

Cute story and nice continuation of the series.
Age gap
Strangers to lovers
I lived the fact that the FMC was still a virgin at 22 and was discovering so much about herself. MMC was not typical in how he approached this with her and it was refreshing. The writing made you feel as if you were in Ireland and Scotland right along with the characters. Aisling and Bern were a a perfect match !

This was a feel good romance that was easy to read and had great characters. The mmc is the perfect book boyfriend and the storyline is cute. The fmc was a little repetitive for my taste, but overall it was a great story. Highly recommend if you like strangers to lovers and age gap romance.

Well written sweet story, but I was in no way compelled to keep reading—I missed that “can’t put it down” feeling. There was not a lot of drama or change within characters and that seemed to contribute to flat main characters in my opinion.

“It was official. I was now traveling on my own for the first time. I didn't have a plan or a final destination. I only had a dream of finding home.”

Being spontaneous might be either one of the best things that ever happens and who knows you might end up enjoying the outcome.
Bern Galbraith I am swooning over you. A Scottish man who exudes golden retriever vibes. Ainsling is living her best life and is out exploring the world. A stop in Scotland completely derailed her plans and Brodick Bay became so much more.
Brodick brings you along in the journey of life where Ains is discovering herself at 22 her goal is to explore new countries and learn from the history and culture and more so the hidden gems that exist and not a lot of people are privy to. Bern is established and the town doctor at 35 he is your responsible adult who is working and doing what he loves the most. When Ains decides to stay in Brodick and work as a receptionist for him, that is the turning point. From working together to going out and exploring and also spending time with each other's family seeing how the relationship developed had me in a chokehold. The time they spent together the open conversations that they had just made this even better. It was so healthy and put a big smile on my face.

You know I'm a girl who loves kilts in any context, but a trip that turns into finding your forever home sounds like an amazing adventure to me!

🌶️🌶️/5

Aisling Byrn came to Scotland on a mission. Explore the world in search of a place she could call home. Though initially following in her father's nomadic footsteps, Aisling quickly realized how empty life can be when you're flitting from place to place and never planting any roots. Seeking casual employment as part of her travel plan, Aisling lands a job working for the handsome doctor Bernard Galbraith. She resists taking the position, worried that she might be too temped by working in close proximity to her employer. Thankfully, what she worried about happens and she gives into that temptation. it was a treat to watch Aisling maturing as she explored a relationship with Bern. Throughout the story, I was rooting for Aisling to start feeling better about herself and to start making choices based on her wants, not simply following a path laid out by another. The love between her and Bern was sweet and respectful and it was lovely to see how it left them both changed for the better. If you're a fan of age-gap, virgin FMC and workplace romance tropes, as well as finding your home where you least expect it, then this is the book for you!

Favourite quote by Aisling:
"This man saw me like no one ever had, instead of feeling exposed by it, I felt sheltered."
