All I Ever Wanted

You know their names, but not their story...

Isla Campbell and Eddie Marks are back, and this time, it’s all about them.

Eddie’s impulsive kiss with Isla three months ago was a momentary lapse in judgment—one that no one will let him forget. And just when he thinks it’s finally been put to rest, a new problem arises.

He needs a date to the annual Badge and Bloom Ball, the Chicago Police Department’s biggest event of the year. More importantly, he needs someone who can help prove he’s more than just the captain’s son.

And who better to shake things up than Isla Campbell?

Fierce, sharp-tongued, and never one to back down from a challenge, Isla agrees. It’s just one night. Just a little fun. But when has just a little fun ever been just that?

What starts as a harmless arrangement quickly turns into something more complicated. The tension simmers too hot, the lines blur too fast, and the act starts feeling a little too real.

But the real dilemma isn’t figuring out where the act ends and something real begins.

It’s what happens when Isla realizes she might lose him before she ever gets the chance to find out.

This is the second book in the All I Ever Duet, and since I loved the first book, All I Ever Needed (Pssst I gave it 5 stars) so much, I was looking forward to this book to continue the story, and it delivered. This is a story of enemies to lovers as Eddie does not like Isla. He thinks she’s too much, too wild. He’s in the Chicago PD and is quiet, regimented, and likes things a certain way. Isla is an Irish bartender with a wicked sarcasm that she’s not afraid to use on unruly men, a free spirit that lets her be spontaneous, and an attraction to Eddie that she feels isn’t reciprocated. In the last book, they kissed, so this book is months later, and neither of them has talked since that kiss. Isla feels like she might have gotten him out of her system since the kiss. Eddie is a single detective working on a big case, and he focuses all his time on it. Some of the guys give him a hard time, and when it’s time to go to the annual Badge and Bloom Ball, he asks Isla for a favor… to be his date and pretend girlfriend. Her ability to put people in their place is just what Eddie wants to do with another officer who is always on his case. She agrees as long as he will do her a favor and help her with a customer at the bar who won’t leave her alone.
I love the banter between these two, and when it’s time to play a pretend couple, they get along so well that you can feel the happiness between them. You just want to scream at Eddie for being clueless for so long. This book doesn’t have a lot of spice, but it’s not needed as you get so wrapped up in the fake dating that you become invested. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, so between that and the fake dating, when the book wrapped up, it felt like a warm hug. I didn’t want the story to end. If you haven’t read All I Ever Needed, you will want to start there.

All I Ever Wanted follows two polar opposites who I'd vote as least likely to fall in love.... except....

Isla is loud, funny, and more than a little blunt. 🤭 She's full of life and not afraid to be herself. ✨

Then there's Eddie... rule follower, by-the-book, and let's be honest, tightly wound. But ugh we love a tall, muscular, broody man in uniform. 🥵

Sure, they both think the other is ridiculously hot (they have eyes for crying out loud) but as living, breathing versions of fire and ice, they drive each other absolutely crazy. 🤪

When Eddie, desperate to make a good impression and get some people off his back, needs a date for a work function, he calls the only person he knows who can't help but impress. But as they spend more time together, it starts to beg the question, are they really like oil and water or more like opposing magnets? 😏

🤎 Opposites attract
☕ Fake dating
🤎 Frenemies to lovers
☕ Cool, tattooed FMC
🤎 Broody MMC

I absolutely loved this book. The characters are fun and charming, the romance is beautiful, the steam was 🤌🏼, and overall, I just had a great time reading. It definitely pulled me out of my reading slump.

It was a joy to be on the ARC team for All I Ever Wanted. Thank you to the author! 🙏🏼

This was an enemies to lovers romance that completely stole me heart!
We've seen them before, but now months after their encounter, we are back to follow Isla and Eddie.
Isla can be too much to handle, wild, care free, and fierce. Bluntness is her expertise here and I fell in love with her instantly. However, Eddie, a party-pooper of sorts, lives by the rules, sticks to the status quo and is way too tightly wound up. Being in the Chicago PD, he is quiet and knows how he wants things and the control.
A mutual agreement, and understanding, arises as Eddie asks Isla for a favor to be a 'fake date'. In return he agrees to help her with an unsavory patron of the bar which she works.
As this story blooms, their pretend relationship starts to unfold into something more for them both. Their banter with each other is top tier and man you might want to just shake Eddie at points like, DUDE HELLOOOO!
The end to this duet series was just everything that I needed and the feeling you long for in a good story. I will always love a good enemies to lovers and this just, was chefs kiss for me.

ARC REVIEW 💫

I definitely enjoyed this second book more than the first! I think I just really didn’t click with the characters in AIEN but I loved Isla since the first book and seeing her get her HEA with Eddie made me love this one so much. Isla was a fucking riot and so unapologetically her and she really gave Eddie a run for his money. The banter between this two was top tier and honestly, Isla being Isla and making Eddie uncomfortable was chefs kiss. While I love a confident man, I also love one that is easily shaken up by a confident woman even more and that was their dynamic. There wasn’t any over the top drama or too much angst but just the right amount to keep the story moving at a good pace. The slow burn was SLOWWWWWWW BURN for sure. I’m talking like past 80% slow burn 😬 but it was well worth it. Isla and Eddie were absolute perfection together and I loved how they brought out different sides to the other and also pushed the other to accept themselves as they were. 💖

Thank you so much to the author for the opportunity to ARC read Isla & Eddie’s story!

𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜—𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙧𝙖𝙬 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜.

Just when I thought I couldn’t love these two anymore…

They now own my whole entire heart. Ugh the way Eddie just lets Isla be Isla and the way Isla brings out the joy and carefree in Eddie just by being unapologetically herself.

The banter, the spice, the one liners…I am not joking when I say I laughed my a** off this entire book. I laughed, I cried, I got nervous. Every emotion I felt as if it were my own and trust there were moments my heart was in my bum.

Diving back into this world felt like meeting back up with friends I hadn’t seen in a while. These characters are so well developed they feel like friends. Like you’ve known them forever. You know their likes their dislikes, their darkest secrets, their past all of it.

This book truly was the perfect balance to All I Ever Needed, just as Isla balances Posey. The calm and the chaos.

“I just need you… Not for comfort. Not for convenience. Just…you.”

Sometimes you don’t end up with who you picture yourself being in a relationship with. Sometimes you end up with someone who is completely opposite from what you thought you needed or want. Someone who rips you open and shows you other parts of yourself that you try so hard to hide.

When I picked up this book, I did not think I would shed a tear, but there I was trying my hardest to hold back tears. I have been wanting to hear both Eddie’s and Isla’s story since book one of this duet & I am so, so, so, so thankful that Rose Bentley decided to make this into a duet and write their story. And I can’t believe I’m saying this because it feels like the ultimate betrayal, but I actually love Isla & Eddie’s story so much more than Posey & Noah’s 🫣

I love this book! All I Ever Wanted is a sweet, funny, quick and easy read! I was hooked from beginning to end! The two main characters are complete opposites of each other with an instant attraction. The MMC, Eddie, is a reserved, organized, perfectionist that needs to loosen up. He is a police officer, newly promoted to detective working on a case with his partner. The FMC, Isla, is a wild, beautiful, outgoing, outspoken Irish woman that works as a bartender. Eddie needed a date for his work charity ball, so proposed a fake dating deal with Isla. Those fake feelings turned real, but took each other sometime to understand their true feelings. I really enjoyed this book! Thank you to Rose for including me as an ARC reader! 5⭐ 3🌶️

You know that feeling of smiling while reading and then finishing and still smiling? Yup that’s what this book did to me! Eddie and Isla are just the best! The opposite attract is perfect, Isla banter is spot on and I want to be her when I grow up! I love the timeline that Rose created, not too slow where I’m screaming come on already and not so fast that it’s not believable. Rose creates strong woman characters and men that compliment them. This duet is worth every smile you get while reading it!

Yes yes yes yes yes. All of the OOFs. All of the feels! I was so hoping for a solid story on Isla and Eddie because of their steamy sexual tension in the first book and BOY OH BOY did Rose deliver!!!!! This book was intriguing, mind blowing and made me feel so many emotions! I wanted to slap Eddie upside the head, console Isla, hug them both! God it was absolute PERFECTION!!!! I am so happy how this book ended and the story to get to the ending!

Eddie and Isla were absolutely needed! I’m so glad we got a sequel to All I Ever Needed and got to dive more into these characters. I loved getting more storyline of Noah and Posey as well and loved the slow-burn between Eddie and Isla! The character arcs were great and loved that they loved each other as they were and didn’t feel the need to change for one another even though they’re polar opposites. Love this author and can’t wait to read more from her!

All I Ever Wanted was such a sweet, funny, and emotional depth filled book. I absolutely loved the banter between Eddie and Isla. I enjoy a strong female main character who really can hold her own. They say opposites attract, and Eddie and Isla are the pure trophies for this trope. It was an amazing journey to watch each character develop as individuals. Cannot get enough of this group of friends!

This was refreshing & the author makes you feel like you are in the pages! The found family and fun banter sold me on this duet! I can’t wait to read more from Rose D. Bentley ❤️

Loved this story between Eddie and Isla. The fact that they both had vulnerable moments and had their own insecurities that they delt with was really endearing. You could feel the electric pull they had between the both of them and it was the perfect example of opposites attract!!

As soon as this hit my inbox, I dropped everything. After meeting Isla and Eddie in book one, I knew I needed more of their story & I was not disappointed. I was rooting for them so hard (endgame or not 👀), and the way their connection unfolded had me hooked from the first chapter. Isla is honestly everything I wish I was. She's strong, bold, soft in the right ways. But let's not forget Eddie, our MMC. He’s everything I wish I had. This book was incredible, emotional, and full of moments that made me just take it all in. I can only hope it reaches more readers, because stories like this one deserve to be everywhere.
