Beauty and the Beast, Forced Marriage, Brooding Hero
"A Beastly Duke’s Delicate Love" is a historical romance novel of approximately 60,000 words. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
This book seems to be part of a series called "Lustful Lords and Ladies" 😂 - I just want to point out, this is a clean romance, no lusty behavior to be seen! They gently, gradually fall in love and there is a kiss or two, that's about it. Because of the hero's scars, he keeps himself away physically and emotionally for much of the book. It was a quick read, though there are hints of abuse with heroine's past and some conflicts, it's pretty low angst.
An abusive, tyrannical father forces his daughter to marry a duke who is scarred from a fire, solely for his financial gain. This story focuses on the newly married couple, their developing relationship and the challenges each faces as they battle their internal demons. This is a captivating story with well-created characters and nefarious evil doers. This is a new author for me, and I truly enjoyed my first read of her work. She was very creative in her plot building, kept the environment and conversations within the regency era, and drew me in to the story until the last page. I look forward to her future publications. I received a complimentary ARC, but I am voluntarily offering my personal opinion.
An awakening look at how there can be resilience after a life of abuse! Isabella is blamed for her mother’s death, died in childbirth, but her father hated her and she would bruised most of the time, her brother watched. When she is told she was to marry Duke Edward in a few days, can’t be worse than home. Edward was scarred trying to save his sister, hides from life behind a mask. But Isabella’s continued kindness begins to change things. Also lovely side romance between their best friends. Only confusing things is a year after they began a true marriage, they have a year old son?
An arranged marriage to a soft spoken girl & a hidden Duke who has forgotten what it means to speak up in conversation. But slowly he comes out of his shell & true love begins- but the despicable father will not let things go. He is a challenge & they soon find out on their journey together.
The author does a really good job of showing all the twists and turns in the story as well as showing the growing relationship between the two main characters.
