This book left me feeling all sorts of ways. It felt criminal to be reading it during the day with my kids running around.
Imogen is a newly divorced woman who was brought up in a catholic household. Her best friend asks her to accompany her to a party one night but Imogen is not quite sure what she is getting herself into. Dark desires is a sexy, private BDSM club where you can experience everything your heart desires.
Red masks means you want to observe. Gold to linger on the edge of temptation. Green to surrender to desire with one partner only. And Black? Black means you are willing to abandon all restraint.

This one definitely brings the spice—firmly in the smut category.
I always come to a book hoping for a good story and some solid character development, even in the smut genre, and I do believe both are achievable. But for whatever reason, many smutty reads end up being exactly that—just spice. Pages and pages of it.
If you're approaching this book purely for the smut, it mostly delivers. I'd give it 4 stars from that lens. It's generally well-written in that regard, but there were moments that stretched believability. For instance, while I understand this is meant to be the character’s inner fantasy and a glimpse into her darker, secret desires, some of her reactions didn’t quite line up—especially when it came to more intense scenes (like being double-teamed for the first time with essentially no sexual history). A bit more realism or acknowledgement of discomfort—even if it’s the “good” kind—would’ve made these scenes feel more grounded.
There were also a few small inconsistencies that pulled me out of the story. One example: the character’s comment about “growing up fast” because she moved out at 20. That didn’t quite land. At 20, you're already legally and socially an adult, so this didn’t quite align with the weight it was given. Lowering that age slightly might have made the point more believable and impactful.
From a plot and character development perspective, I get that this is a novella, so there's limited space to flesh things out. The plot is fine for what it is, and there’s an attempt at character development—but I didn’t feel like the main character's reactions were consistent with the personality we were introduced to at the start.
As for the writing style—smut aside—it could use some polish. There was quite a bit of direct "telling" of thoughts and feelings, rather than showing them, and the sentence structure sometimes interrupted the flow. That said, I suspect this might be one of the author’s early works, and there’s definitely potential. More “showing” and less “telling” would really help immerse the reader and elevate the writing overall.
But again—if you’re here for smut and that’s your main priority? This book will likely hit the spot. It certainly packs a lot into its pages.

I had the privilege of Alpha/BETA reading this and WELL. HELL. For a novella, this packed a punch. Like a sexy punch right in my pussy. There are scenes in this y’all. Capital-S scenes.

Reckless is a steamy, fast-paced novella that grabs your attention right from the start and doesn't let go. As a reader, I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly the story took off, making it nearly impossible to put down, while leaving me very red-faced when reading on the couch with the family around!
The book is centered around a woman in her 30s, which offers a refreshing change from the typical young 20-something protagonist. This was one of the elements I really appreciated—it was nice to read about someone who was a bit older, more mature, and navigating her own unique challenges.
With a spice level of 4 🌶️, this novella certainly delivers on the heat! The chemistry between the FMC and the MMC was palpable, and the romance quickly escalated, leaving me hot under the collar. Antionette (author) masterfully builds tension and passion, keeping you turning the page. The rapid pace of the plot only added to the excitement, propelling the narrative forward at full speed.
Overall, Reckless delivers exactly what you’d expect from a novella of this kind: sizzling smut, interesting characters, and a story that leaves you wanting more. I’m already looking forward to the next book in the series! If you’re a fan of spicy, fast-paced reads, this one is a must.

Holy hell.... when I picked up this little novella through ARC I was not expecting the sheer amount of smut I got. And let me tell you... it was a pleasant surprise!!! We follow our FMC Imogen whilst she tries to navigate life after a shit show of a few months that's left her broke, exhausted and desperate for something good to happen to her. Little does she know the party she is about to attend with her friend Cara, is going to set her up for the change she needed,
When Imogen is given 3 masked that decide her fate for the night apprehension still holds tight on her damaged mind and heart.

Antoinette has done a wonderful job to sprinkle in just enough plot to make the 10% plot and 90% pure smut work. It was written in a way where each spicy scene was its own, and not once did any of it feel repetitive, which is a very big deal for me! So, THANK YOU Antoinette!! I could not put this book down and will be using it as a recommendation for anyone looking for a little smutty novella. I will absolutely be grabbing the next books in the series because, I NEED TO KNOW WHERE IT GOES!!
This particular book is not a love story, it's a fun time of self-discovery and experimentation after years of being shamed and mentally abused for liking things that are out of a religious mindset. though, there absolutely is a happy ending 😏 quite a few actually. Perhaps it is however a set up for something more later on in the other books?!? Like I said... I NEED TO KNOW

This novella is the equivalent of a birds eye chilli in the erotica genre.... small but EXTREMELY spicy!!!
Obviously, being a novella, not much can be said in terms of character development, but the characters were all intriguing enough to draw you in to the story behind the spice as well. Being the prequel novella for a future series it gave you just enough information to keep reading and for the story to make sense, but left enough out to make you want more!
The spice. Was. Spicing! Utilising various combinations of MMFF throughout the story, gave the spicy bits enough difference from one another to never feel repetitive.
Definitely recommend to people that are after a short, sharp, and oh so spicy little read!

We're not here for a happily ever after, but there were certainly quite a few happy endings, nudge nudge, wink wink!
Its all the things you think - Imogen watches some very interesting shows, learns a few new interesting things that can be done with .. um, props, and when the black masks are in play, just, um, SANITISE MY EYEBALLS - but in the BEST possible way!!!! Its ALL on the page, so if you blush at these scenes for the love of spice read this one safe at home.

It's a fantastic introduction to Dark Desires, a sex club where attendees show how involved they wish to be by which mask they choose to wear; red for those who wish to observe, gold to linger on the edge of temptation, green to surrender to desire with a single partner, and black for those willing to abandon all restraint, who are up for anything.
I love that people can change their mask at will, and that everyone in attendance is a consenting adult (after all, consent is sexy). Condoms are also freely available and, with phones being secured upon entry I appreciate this club is really looking out for it's patrons (as they should).
The FMC Imogen is extremely likeable, and seeing her sexual-self blossom and grow filled me with joy. I'm really looking forward to seeing how her story unfolds going forward.

This novella is the best set up for a series I have read. You are straight into the characters, their motivations and desires and a strong beginning for who they could become. The set up sees our FMC Imogen down on her luck and working her butt off just to get by. With a disapproving religious family and a douchey ex she needs a excuse to let loose. The dark desires club gives her just that opportunity. How far into her desires she goes is entirely in her hands and could have the power, along with mysterious club owner Sebastian, to change her whole world. Imogen and Sebastian could well make it to the top of my main characters list and after finishing this novella over lunch i cant wait to get deeper into this world.

Right off the bat I knew this would be a good read because it's bringing back names for chapters. This was an awesome little novella, obviously it's quite a lot of smut but it was well written smut and the whole club setting is fantastic. Antoinette has kept the story sexy, interesting and built the main characters enough that I'm definitely going to be reading the first full length book from the series.

let me tell you. you will blast through this in one go. it's 110 ish pages and it's hot hot HOT. We have all the letter combos going on from MM to FF to MMFF (probably fucked up the order) but you get the idea. lots of O's all round.
While this is very much a spicy read it does have enough plot that it gets you sucked in and ready for the next book.
If you're looking for a one handed read then this is it.😏
Also this was a debut so I'm super excited to read her full length Ravage next !

I have so many hard-to-explain feelings about why this novella was so (ahem)positive and safe, and wasn’t ‘too much’, and was just a delightful ROMP (pun intended).
It is short and sweet/spicy and I cannot wait for Ravaged!!!
