Monster Match #2

Download For Demons

Rate this book
“Download Monstr and find a monster of a match!”

Spite is the perfect reason to download a monster dating app… at least that’s what Miri had told herself when she was rolling her eyes at her overbearing mother’s most recent lecture about spinsterhood and grandchildren. It wasn’t her fault her last couple relationships had been disastrous.

True love might be a big ask, but some devil horns and a kinky tail to have some fun with? That was exactly what she needed to get out of her slump – making her mother clutch her pearls was just a bonus.

But now that four delicious demons are blowing up her inbox? She might have bitten off more than she can chew. Hopefully, they aren’t planning to do the same to her…

It is a dating app for monsters, after all.

😈 Bookish Thoughts
This series is hilarious! 🤣🤣
I laughed basically the entire book!
I loved all four demons, but Duke totally stole my heart. It’s always the quiet ones who surprise you! 🥵

I can’t wait for the next book to be released. The only thing that would make it better is an audiobook!

📱What to Expect:
• Why Choose
• Curvy FMC
• Monster Dating App
• Possessive Demons
• Tail Play 😏

This was cute, but I didn’t like it as well as the first one. The dynamic between the demons was fun, but it was all just so easy and perfect…. It could get a bit boring. I really like Miri though. Worth it for a quick, fun read.

I really enjoyed these characters getting together.
It was fun, and there was just enough drama to keep it interesting.
I do agree with all the other reviews on the editing though. There definitely are a bunch of spelling and grammar mistakes. Mostly, extra words, though also a lot of single letter mistakes that completely change words. Like ‘doze’ instead of ‘dove’.
And I was kind of getting suspicious about how the book was written by the time I got about halfway through just because there were so many of the same kind of mistakes…🤷🏻‍♀️ idk.

Either way, it was entertaining so I had a pretty alright time.

ALL BOOK SHOULD BE LIKE THIS!!!

The humor and the relationships are so organic. I love how she knows once they get into the house they're never going to leave.

Honestly, I'm never going to base a book on editing because anyone can edit a book but not everyone can create a world that moves things. This book was so creative and fun. It builds a whole world and is amazing.

Also sign me up for four demons, please and thank you.

DNF.

I didn't mind the demon characters, they were all OK, but i had some issues with Miri.
first off, as a teacher, I don't like the way she talks about her job and the kids she works with. she talks about them being the best behaved class in the school, and in the next breath is talking about them eating crayons and colouring in the walls. they are 6, this is not behaviour your expect from a class of 6 year olds. also she is constantly referring to them with rude nicknames, calling them hellions and monsters etc etc. also her boyfriend broke the cheekbone of one of her colleagues, but she was surprised when that was taken further by the school? because it was outside of school hours? what?
secondly, I appreciate it when larger ladies get some representation, but I don't like the stereotype that has come with it here that all the plus size FMC seems to eat is chocolate and cake. at one point, she mentions how "weird" kaz is when he is eating an apple? like, what? and that she has to have chocolate every single morning, and she bakes full sized cakes and cookies etc every single day apparently. she doesn't seem to eat anything other than cake and chocolate.
I think this book has just wound me up the wrong way honestly.

Remember how last year around spooky season, I read about a woman joining a dating app for monsters and somehow coming out with her own build-a-harem?? Well I’m back this year with that story’s sequel: Download for Demons. I enjoyed the first book a little better than this sequel, BUT it was still a fun why choose demon romance with bestie Miri getting the spotlight and taking on a journey to her own happily ever after.

Set up similarly but with its own twist, our FMC Miri joins the realm of online supernatural dating and finds herself drawn to not one, not two, but FOUR different demons. Oddly enough, all four demons seem to know each other in some form or another but working out the kinks in developing a relationship with one human definitely causes some growing pains. But, oh, is watching them figure things out over the course of the story a delight. And yes, I have a favorite of the four in the gentle giant Duke. You’d have to read this sweet monster romance to see why.

tw: food/feeding fetish, sugar addicted plus size FMC that can't go one chapter without talking, thinking about, or baking sweets...
As a plus size girly myself, instead of making me feel somehow represented it gave me ick for miles to go. Especially that one particular spicy scene, lord...
The typos are included in almost every single chapter, but I'm giving the author the benefit of the doubt since it's one day post release date (2.07), so it might yet get edited.
The plot drama was rather VERY predictable, if ykyk. I found book 1 of the series much more enjoyable, not gonna lie. We'll see what book 3 shall bring...

worth the wait

I have been waiting desperately for this next instalment of the monster match series and it’s again ranking as a top 5 read,

All the characters are fleshed out and unique, I loved seeing little bits about Nicole and Co.

Also thank you for adding the little explanation about vampires IYKYK I was wondering that in chapter 2!

Cannot wait to see more from the rest of the girlies I’m hoping Marta gets a book too as she is basically the 4th musketeer.

Nothing about this book was cringy, or half baked everything felt so natural, I had such a good time reading this book, giggling and kicking my feet it was a much needed relief

I loved it even more than book one. Miri and her demon harem were lovely. I think this one had less smut than the first, but it was a delicious read all the same. I wasn’t sure how the cousin thing was gojng to work; but it ended up not being a big deal. Every monster was precious and if I could steal Duke I would, but I loved every one of them so sign me up for the package deal if possible.

I love that when the monsters choose a human they just camp in her place until she accepts this is her life now. Definitely looking forward to Ashley’s story!!! I love the girly group dynamic, and Hawthorne is a perfect precious baby who has never don’t anything wrong in his life ever.

I liked the characters and the plot was fine, but it irked me a few times.
Miri was a curvy woman that was bullied for most of her life by her mother and boyfriends for her weight. As a fattie myself I could relate, it was nice to see that she took some care of her health, the yoga and mentions of how much water she was drinking were good, but even as a fat person it was hard to read how much sugar she was eating. I don't care how people look, but eating baked goods all the time is just unhealthy, and she was rarely mentioned eating something different. I got it that she didn't want to change, but it seemed like it was such a hardship for her to eat something healthier and it made me roll my eyes. I love baked goods like everyone else, but I wouldn't be able to stomach cakes, muffins and cookies all day, every day. Oh, sorry, she liked yogurt too ;) Her thoughts when she saw Kaz eating apple slices were weird, banana bread was fine for her, but fresh, healthy apples were only for the health nut. Btw, Kaz was eating carbs only on his cheat days, apples are healthy, but it's fruit, sooo carbs ;)
The plot was kinda predictable, yet still I was disappointed. I hoped it would be different from the first book, but nope, third act breakup (yeah, it wasn't a real breakup, but still...)! The only surprise was that it wasn't Nico who fucked up. It was a little weird how easily he got over his jealousy and discomfort in the poly relationship.
I liked the guys for the most part (Nico and Kaz pissed me off a bit). Duke was my favorite, the guy was a hulking teddy bear that turned into a kinky demon in bed ;) Ace was a chaos personified, but he was cute too.

Left Something to be Desired

This book wasn't bad, but it felt lacking in a lot of ways and left me wanting. While book one had a mystery plot to help support it, this one was all emotion, and if fell flat in a lot of ways. I like the idea of watching a pack figure out their growing pains, but I don't feel like the emotions, characters, or connections were strong enough to really allow that idea to shine.

I liked the FMC, Miri, and I like that she did seem to have a backbone through a lot of the book. Her confidence was great, and I appreciated that she wasn't afraid to ask for what she needed, even if it was an hour of piece and quiet at the end of the day.

I also really liked Duke, but the other three males left something to be desired. I wanted to see more of Nico, but he really disappeared into the bachground and often felt like more of an afterthought. Kaz was a nice enough gym guy, but lacked personality - I think he was supposed to represent a himbo, but it wasn't well flushed out. And the way he flipped at the end felt totally out of what little character we did get from him. The sweet caring guy we almost got from Kaz seemed to swap to Ace halfway through, which may have been to give him something to cling onto besides comedic relief for the messy tension that was the rest of the story.

maybe it's just me but the smut scene being obsessed with large women is bothering me, not in the sense of i hate fat women, but more so the fixation of every FMC being "curvy, generous hips, large breasts, loves food" etc but then the FMC also somehow has a killer figure and MAYBE a pooch.

Like I love the love for different body types but it's either you're plus sized white/POC and you have either mom/coworkers/shitty bosses telling FMC to lose weight/instill body image issues and then you basically have the FMC be like "I love my curves! Fuck you!" which yes girl 100% support, but I don't want to be reading about that in EVERY MONSTER SMUT

Miri was better to deal with than the first protag of the other book imo (Nicole lol). Although the toxic mother trend is 2 for 2 for this author.

This story meshed a bit better for me but naybe that's because any poly situation (in fiction) involving more than 3 partners (not including FMC) gets so confusing and also I feel as if the reader and FMC does not get as much 1:1 time to see how each individual dynamic contributes to the whole. I think it was a bit ham fisted for Nico and Miri but I guess if it works for them lol

I really liked the overall dyanmics otherwise for the FMC and her demonic boyfriend posse. I think parts of it made me laugh and why I couldn't take it seriously at some points was for her 4 boyfriends, like how is it hot to watch someone get fucked and you then get sloppy 2nds to even being the last person? Also the mental image of waiting your turn to fuck someone is so funny to me but I guess if that gets ya going i cant judge.

Was not a fan of the eating sweets and getting fucked part but I've read literally worse so 🙃.

I did appreciate that the toxic mother relationship just didn't get completely thrown out the window and they're actually moving forward (well the mom is making attempts)

This was a fun read, which—seeing as I LOVED Swipe Right for Monsters—is no surprise to me.

I only rate it 4 stars because, in MY opinion it could have used more editing.
With that being said, here's what I loved about this book:

Miri! I already adored her from SRfM and have been dying from anticipation for this.

Nico- UGH I adore a broody shy boy, the horns and fangs just sweeten the deal. His character development was perfection. 👌

Ace- The comedic relief, his banter was top tier.... and the tail. I'm a sucker for tail stuff. 🥵

Duke- WOW. If I could have any single one of them, he's at the top of the list. What a giant, filthy mouthed cinnamon roll.

Kaz- Another win for a great character arc, where Duke and Ace fell short, Nico and Kaz filled in the gaps.

All in all, I adored this read and can't wait for Clickbait for Creatures!! Ashley is a wild time and I look forward to EVERYTHING she has to offer.

Now, for my reasons why I only rated this 4 stars:

There were some word repetitions, spelling errors—i.e. "thought" when it should have said "though"—and minor continuity issues that had me caught up here and there. The night Niko stayed at his studio but it still said "all four demons" fell asleep for instance. Another time one of the demons—I think it was Nico— "bit his lip, sinking his fang into his lip" minor things like that.

It's absolutely nothing that stopped me from reading and loving the story though! I'd honestly rate it 4.5 if I could.

Love the Storyline!

I mean…who wouldn’t swipe right on a monsters app? You down to Kraken? Ride a Minotaur? Swap some blood with a Vamp? Ok so none of that happens in this book, but oh the possibilities! So Miri has a horrible mother. She is a curvy gal with junk in the trunk and has always been put down for her size. She is a grade K teacher, bless her heart and sanity for that job, and she just wants to find someone to share her life with. One of her BFFs found her great loves on the app so throwing caution to the wind, Miri cast out her line and reels in a few of her own. Although they didn’t mind being caught and quickly took over her home. I loved the banter between all of them. The yoga…THE YOGA! And Ace is a red walking and talking flag, but dangit I just adore him and want to keep him for myself. So if you love RH, no MM, multiple POVs, a little monster on human action, great side characters, hysterical text messages and just a bit of angst….click read now. You won’t regret it. I also look forward to book for the other two friends. I have my fingers crossed they get their own books!

Just like the last one, this book is addictive. I wanted more and more. I was really happy to see all of the characters from the first book with equally interesting new ones. I was amused by Hawthorne's magic messing with her birth control and the kid possibly being one of teh vampires as well. And just like last time, I am counting the days until Ashley's book is out so I can have more in this universe. I have to comment on the way this author treats Miri as a curvy character, it's amazing and very realistic. I too am curvy and usually confident about my body and how good I look but comments from coworkers and family members still hit hard. I love the balance the relationship has, each demon having different features and colors not to mention personalities that are all different but still fit together with Miri's. I wish this book was longer, way, way longer. I still think Miri should have done action against the school for wrongful termination. I'd also love to see Kaz training Duke's wings. Not to mention them finally marking her. But I can't wait for the next book and all it brings

Loved the monsters, cursed the editor.

After reading Swipe Right for Monsters, I knew I’d be downloading Download for Demons the second it dropped. The wait was excruciating.

Firstly, only 3 stars because while I really really enjoyed it I honestly feel like I should be on payroll with the number of errors I flagged. Please have a word with your editor. They did you dirty!

That said… Duke stole my whole heart. The big, awkward purple grape with his weird little social uncomfortable-ness? Obsessed, I feel seen. I love that each monster has their own issues, and how Miri’s internal dialogue bounces between confident queen energy and battling that cruel little voice we all know too well. That struggle hit me in the feels. Well, minus her confidence. I could use just a spoonful of that, please and thank you.

I know Ashley’s book is next, but I’m really hoping Marta gets her own monster (or monsters) soon too.

I liked the characters. The FMC was great. She had such a great blend of body positivity and self conscious thoughts that we try to drown out. She was relatable and I enjoyed seeing her get her hea.

I liked all the MMCs. Given the length of the book, I felt they were well enough developed for the type of read this was. I also liked that it wasn’t automatic for them all to get along, but they also weren’t overly aggressive and jealous. It was a more realistic (or as realistic as dating a group of demons can get) take on a relationship with more than 2 people and then working out the kinks in their dynamic.

It was a quick, fun read. The absurdity of it was entertaining without being cringey.

The writing was okay. Definitely not the worst writing I’ve read, but nothing crazy amazing either. Some parts of the dialogue didn’t flow as naturally and seemed more back and forth.

Overall, I enjoyed it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Download For Demons is playful, cheeky, and surprisingly heartfelt, making it an absolute joy to read. The premise of a monster dating app is instantly fun, but the real charm lies in Miri’s mix of sass, vulnerability, and rebellious streak. Her decision to download the app out of spite feels hilarious and relatable, setting the stage for flirty banter, irresistible chemistry, and just the right touch of chaos. Each of the demons brings their own intrigue and allure, keeping the story fast-paced and entertaining while adding layers of temptation and danger. R. O’Leary’s writing balances humor, heat, and sweetness with ease, creating a romance that feels as lighthearted as it is captivating. Download For Demons is a perfect blend of spice, fun, and monster romance magic.

After reading R O'leary's Swipe Right for Monsters, I was so excited to read Download for Demons. Miri is everything I wish I had as a role model for curvy women growing up. Totally see myself in her. Definitely wish one of our MMCs was a "daddy" type but I still loved them all the same. With 4 demons, you know things got spicy and pretty quickly. Duke was definitely my favorite though. He was so sweet and everything he said had a purpose. This also has some of the funniest quotes or moments. Not going to ruin it. You'll just have to see for yourself. Can't wait for Ashley's book. It's already been hinted at how "adventurous" she is 😉

These books are so fun and such an easy read. I really like Miri and seeing struggle that I have experienced represented in a book was nice. (The self age stuff. Not the four demon boyfriends thing)

I had to take off a star for typos. I’m not sure if it was just in the KU version I was reading. Usually I am able to look past a few but there were enough that it distracted from some scenes. Which was unfortunate because it was a hoot to read.

All the demons were unique and interesting in their own way. I enjoyed seeing how dynamics shifted when the grouping changed. I am looking forward to the next one.

R. O’Leary, I love reading this universe and I am so sorry you had a migraine when you were trying to release it.

But despite the typos I caught and kind of being able to predict where the story would go. It is definitely a comfort read for me and I am so glad that I was able to grab a copy. Miri and the demon nest are cute and fluffy, and spicy in all the right ways. I love the fact that there is plus size positivity in the book and it wasn’t like overly done to the point where the story is lost. This is just perfect.

I can’t wait for the next installment.

First off I want to say this book was so funny. I love this series so much and the characters always just make me happy. Also the spice was spicing in the bets of ways.

Secondly, my only issue again was the typos. Honestly I would edit the rest of the series for free R. O'Leary, plus bonus waiting for more will be sad for me. But for real though I'm seriously offering to edit it. It took me out of the world everytime. Anyway I love this series and I'm so excited for Ashley and 🤞 Marta's books.

I have to say I love the way this book started out because she is jealous of her friends but don't want a man either lol then she gets on the monster dating app and everything changes for her she has a disaster of a date and her monster crush lol 😆 saves her . then she had to have to dates in one lol she's all over the place lol then she ends up with 4 monster boyfriends in her house lol .

I have to say that this book had me laughing so hard that I couldn't put the book down and this was so cute I can't wait for Ashley's story.

It's cute!

I love a good low-angst romance, plus you throw in four demons and we got ourselves a party. This was a cute read. I would say short & sweet but it has about 100 or so too many pages to get that title.

Now, I am a grammar judge in books. As a copy-writer, it's just something that sticks out to me and is hard to ignore. That said, I did read a review before reading that insinuated there were going to be some errors. Knowing that going in was good. At one point it almost became comical how many there were and it turned endearing.
