A must-read for anyone working from aboard a boat! It is full of invaluable and detailed information. I highly recommend!
As someone who has worked remotely for years, I was eager to find out what I need to know before moving to a boat. This book saved me so much time and money! Written in a very accessible (yet detailed) manner, this book is making my preparation easier and more complete. The reality of setting up a workspace in a compact, moving space was covered thoroughly. Also, the important aspect of being connected while on the water saved me hours of research (and probably a lot of frustration). So much of life aboard is unknown for those of us just beginning a boating adventure. This book helps set the reader up for success whether it's for work, homeschool or keeping in touch with friends and family. I also loved the appendices which are chock-full of checklists and additional resources. This book is indispensable if you are working, learning, or staying connected while afloat!
I wrote Remote Work Afloat because when my family and I set off on the Great Loop, I had a lot to figure out—fast. How do you maintain a reliable internet connection on a moving boat? How do you balance work with constantly changing surroundings? How do you make it all work without feeling like you’re missing out on the adventure?
I searched for a guide that covered the realities of working remotely while cruising, but I couldn’t find one. So, after years of experience, trial and error, and helping others make the leap, I wrote the book I wished I’d had when I started.
This book isn’t just about logistics (though it will help you figure out your internet, workspace setup, and time management). It’s also about making remote work work for you—so you can thrive on the water instead of feeling like you’re stuck in a floating office.
If you’re dreaming of taking your career aboard—whether for the Great Loop, full-time cruising, or just a season on the water—I hope this book helps you take the next step. If it does, I’d love to hear your thoughts and see your review!
