I was SO excited to learn that Brooke Siler was releasing a new 25 year anniversary edition of The Pilates Body.

I have been carrying around my copy of the original for about 23 years. This is THE book that you want for everything Pilates. This is the book that I used to teach myself the matwork in my 20s, along with my beloved Winsor Pilates DVDs.

The perfect blend of history, direction, and guidance, The Pilates Body is your one stop shop. Brooke’s directions are clear and accompanied by creative and helpful illustrations. I still refer back to them on a regular basis.

One last note: I was incredibly fortunate to be able to attend a Zoom call with Brooke, model/ Pilates instructor Maria Earle (who is featured in the new pandiculation section). It’s important to know that the purpose of the book is not to “get” a Pilates Body. Brooke is incredibly knowledgeable and kind and emphasized that a Pilates body is a body that does Pilates. Period.

Pilates was my go-to fitness regime in my 20s (You start by lying down? Cool!), and has been the practice I’ve come back to again and again, whether recovering from surgery or simply wanting to feel my best.

Thank you to Brooke for this beautiful book, and my Pilates teacher, Lesley Logan, for telling me about this new book and hosting the best Zoom call for a Pilates nerd ever.
