In this best-selling, heartwarming tale, a lonely older man takes home a pet-shop kitten that no one else wants. It doesn’t take long for the pair to warm up to each other, and soon, they’re inseparable. Told through the eyes of both the man and his cat, this sweet and hilarious story is a balm for the soul!
Though he still can't perform on stage, Kanda challenges himself with street piano. He never imagined his audience would include his former teacher, Margarethe Dressel. The ever-present Fukumaru is ready to win new hearts—luckily, Kanda's mentor is a fellow cat lover! Then, Geoffroy becomes Kuju's piano teacher, but the lesson gets off to a rocky start.
As often happens in serialized manga stories, a character is introduced who's been critical to the MC's development for a good part of their life, but hasn't been mentioned in the thirteen volumes before this. No matter. She's a fun character who also loves cats. Don't even tell me we're going to get any deeper into the stories of her NINE cats. That's too much!
Another of Fukumaru's sibs is introduced in the last chapter of this volume, and has had a much tougher life than either Fukumaru or Marin. I assume that his story is coming up next.
This started off as A Man and His Cat in book 1, but has become A Man and his Musician Friends and sometimes we will feature said cat. It's not bad, but not as cute as it was. I'll be glad when this one is over. Would I recommend the books? Sure, but more empathetically for the beginning ones.
This series is becoming less and less about Kanda and his relationship with Fukumaru. While I know their relationship helped blossom other relationships, it’s a bummer that the main relationship for this series is getting put on the back burner.
This volume had so much going on. It was a bit much.
I do plan to read the next volume but depending on how the next volume goes, I may drop the series altogether.
A bit disjointed, I think. Some things about Kanda's teacher, LOTS of cats, a new apprentice for said teacher, Mr. Geoffrey, and more. I mean, I'm OK with several characters, but this just felt like too much too fast.

People talk about eating a comfort food, well this series of books are my comfort read.
In this book we meet Kanda's former teacher when he tries to summon the courage to perform at a street piano. She is also a cat lover and went to meet all the cats at his house. Geoffroy becomes Kuju's piano teacher. Fukumaru is not feeling well after the teacher leaves and he also sees his older brother out the window.
What is ailing Fukumaru? Will Kanda be able to overcome his inability to perform in public? Will Kanda realize that Fukumaru brother is outside and be able to take him in? (you know he will) Will Kanda's teacher come back to check on Kanda and his progress? Will Geoffroy and Kuju lessons go well?
This one’s undeniably cheesy, and I don’t mind one bit.
We finally get to meet Kanda’s mysterious mentor, and while the whole thing unfolds with a fair amount of absurdity, it still manages to land with warmth and heart.
I also loved how Geoffroy’s shift in attitude was portrayed. His arc reminds you how powerful a bit of kindness can be, how it nudges even the most rigid characters into something softer.
Read this if you’re in need of a little emotional pick-me-up or if your faith in humanity is running low. It’s sweet, a little silly, and just sincere enough to sneak up on your feelings when you least expect it.
This is okay.
We meet a formidable lady in this volume…Mr Kanda’s teacher! She puts him through hell…I mean, training. It looks like he’s starting to recover. And then…Fukumaru’s big bro appears, jaded and angry at the world. Where will this go?
It was pretty sweet because it showed how events viewed from two different perspectives could be so different. Kanda felt his teacher always helped him and he couldn’t help her, but she felt he saved her many times.

Another really cute volume in this manga. We're introduced to a new character in this one, and she was fun; quite a few heartwarming moments with her. I also loved the moments between Geoffroy and Kuju. My man Geoffroy's heart is defrosting, and I love to see him opening up. Overall, very cute, fun, and heartwarming volume.
