The average Mukouda Tsuyoshi is summoned to a world of swords and sorcery, and he’s ready for an adventure of a lifetime! Too bad the kingdom pulled him by mistake. His stats are so laughable compared to the other heroes that he leaves immediately to make
Firstly, i love, love, love the Anime SO much, i adore them, it's such a nice cozy cute story about cooking and best friends (*cough* wolf husband i mean), and the manga is also very nice. But the novel... boi.
If I hadn't watched the anime beforehand, i guess i would be very disappointed - well I still am. So don't start with the novel, it's just ... bad. It's badly written (or translated, but i don't think so). It's very simple language, and there are so so so much repeats, it's annoying. And not just in scenes, but on one side. It has the character of Cuzcos Poison - everyone repeats what someone said before, then Mukohda THINKS it too, so it's a third repeat of the whole theme and so on. I mean, yeah, it's very typical for a webnovel to have this, but... here in this one it's VERY often.
And yes, it is very cozy, because there is not much happening - i knew that beforehand bcs of the Anime, but still. There is literally no show, it's only tell, and even that isn't very good, because there are literally no emotions whatsoever. The Anime was so good with that, but here, ugh.
And yes reading about all the food is great, but because of the simple language, it also reads like it's always the same. The only good thing is, that the people speaking are differentiated with italic or bold letters, which helps a bit, because there is literally no 'Mukohda said' or stuff. It borders on boring, sadly.
Will i still continue it? Yes, because i love the anime, and i want more - it's 16 vols x,D also I'm kinda curious what will happen after the anime, if it stays like this or not.
I like how practical Mukouda is. Usually the isekai books I read had the heroines all born in positions of nobility. Here we see how to survive if that doesn’t happen. 1. find out the currency 2. Determine if the current location is safe to stay 3. Blend in by wearing local clothing 4. Don’t show off your powers if you don’t know if it is safe to do so. Item box may be a valuable skill.
I basically equated the gold coin currency to $ rather than yen. Like 1 gold coin is $100. Otherwise I would be stuck doing calculations a lot.
Mukouda’s budget 20 gold coins ($2000) After clothing trade off: 22 gold + 3 silver ($2230) After selling salt and pepper (and purchasing the stuff below): $1950+ (I didn’t really get this sum, so my calculator is either off or there were other deals not written down.) so I gave up already on keeping track.
Other world prices Skewers: $0.50 Shirt and pants: $70 One night at an inn with meals: $40 Soap: $30 4-day Wagon journey shared with others and guards: $100 Escort mission on foot: $700 (and this is if you want at least a C-rank escort and it’s under normal conditions) Border fee without guild card: $50 (+$20 for a familiar) Entering a town: $20 (+$10 for a familiar) Merchant registration fee: $50 (same for Adventure guild registration) Inn accommodation for one person and one familiar: $70-80 (depending on the town) Cutlery, stoves and ingredients: $80+$200+ Library entrance fee: $200 Low grade potion: $50 Middle grade potions: $100 High grade potions: $1000 Special grade potions: $5000
Reijseger: corrupt country that summoned heroes. Racist to the point they don’t allow non-humans entry and the nobles keep them as sex-slaves. Feenen Kingdom: possibly corrupt if the border guard leader and Marquess wanted to use Fel. Enslaves non-humans but gives them wages. Geisler empire: military dictatorship. Emperor threatens disobedience with death sentence. Non-humans are treated like livestock Holy kingdom of Rubanov: uses religion to promote racism, declaring non-believers as heretics Solace: vassal state, same culture
Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for a DRC! This omnibus contains the first two volumes of the light novels, with their accompanying artwork. I’ve really enjoyed the anime and first volume of the manga for this series, and the novel didn’t disappoint. It’s such a fun and wholesome (and mouthwatering!) series and I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this group’s adventures as the series progresses. Fel and Sui are real cuties and I’m looking forward to getting to know the goddesses and Dora-Chan more.
It’s a little repetitive at times, but so cozy that I don’t really mind. You will want to have snacks nearby when reading!
3.5? I enjoyed this quite a bit but I’ve watched the anime so nothing was new & the rating might’ve suffered a little because of that. It’s hard to say but I love the show and liked the book a lot.
