ARC Review~

Valley of the Stars is a thrilling and unique paranormal romance that dares to blend the primal intensity of a werewolf story with the mind-bending, reality-questioning atmosphere of a sci-fi epic. The result is a highly addictive and very well written debut that kept me hooked until the very last page.
The good pacing ensures there is never a dull moment. You are immediately pulled into a setting where a captivating mix of concepts truly delivers werewolf romance meets Matrix vibes.
The cornerstone of this story is the heroine, Giselle. I absolutely love the MFC, Giselle. Her journey, her choices, and her emotional investment make it easy for the reader to stay completely invested in her fate.
But what truly elevates Valley of the Stars is its masterful plotting. Just when you think you have a handle on the plot, Taylor delivers a big twist I did not see coming. It's a genuine shock that deepens the mystery and raising the emotional stakes significantly. I stayed invested in the story all the way through, eager to see how Giselle would navigate the shocking truths revealed.
Valley of the Stars is an exceptional blend of genres that feels fresh and original. If you're looking for a book with romance and a twist that will make you gasp, pick this one up immediately. I sincerely hope to return to this universe—I will definitely read any other books in this world if they are made!

I'm writing this review from a small room in Northern Ireland where I'm spending my holidays right now. I originally came across this book on Tik Tok and was lucky enough to have been invited to get early access to it right before my vacation. I first want to start off with thanking the author Cami Taylor for letting me have the opportunity to read this wonderful book. Now without further a due I will now share my utmost blunt opinion of this book.
When I first opened this book I was on my long flight of 8 plus hours and was bored out of my mind cramped into one of those small basic economy seats. The couple in front of me with their seats basically in my lap making the flight seem excruciatingly longer. I remember sitting back and reading the first chapter and whether it was my recent book slump or my seat neighbour spilling my orange juice all over me I just could not focus on the book. Skip to finally being able to breath and feel less stressed I finally got back to picking up the book and let me tell you it took me for a joyride and forgot to stop along the way. I binge read this book in one evening. Now, I'll try not to spoil anything too much for those reading the reviews before they read the book but do forgive me if I do say a bit too much.
Our wonderful living dead girl fmc, Giselle shows so much character development; between the confusion on what's a dream and what's reality the lines can become blurry and I love how she showed that to the full extent on just how bad it can get mixed in with a dash of trauma as well as living her teenage girl life as well and not letting it define her. This book made it easy to relate to the FMC easily by making her go through realistic life problems mixed in with the supernatural and that just made the book more jaw dropingly perfect to read. The way the author portrayed first time relationships, you know the puppy love we've almost all been through. Our eyes clouded we don't see the faults in the man until its too late sometimes. It showed just how much peer pressure can affect a person and change them in ways that make you feel so high on life until the crash happens and your feeling the lowest of the lows.
The connection between Alfie our ML and our glorious FMC Giselle is so deep its astronomical in a way. I love how the villain in this story wasn't right off the bat shown as evil as well as gives us a glimpse into their background making it hard to feel sorry for him through it all. Now I'm usually one to fangirl over villains in shows and movies especially one that quotes the amazing Scream line "What's your favourite scary movie?" but this time it just sent shivers down my spine and not the good kind. The villain in this story truly made my stomach turn in a sickening way. The underdogs winning this book made me even more excited to read the next book...there better be a next book. I cannot be left on such an amazing cliff-hanger.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to those that love a supernatural romance with a twist.

ARC Review
My overall rating of this book is 4.5
There are spoilers in this review:

Valley of the Stars is a mash up of paranormal romance and something akin to a sci-fi novel, in all honestly I have never read anything quite like this before, it's utterly unique. The prologue had me absolutely hooked. I loved reading from Alvie’s pov, I kinda wished that the whole book was from his perspective, as those were my favorite parts to read. This book is broken up into 3 parts. In the first part of the book there is a lot of world building which culminates in a very intense transition to part 2. The sudden change of pace gave me whiplash, especially since after these really intense and fast paced moments, it shifted rapidly to a calm and slow pace with down time and period jumps like nothing happened in-between, it felt like we were spending a lot of time focusing on things that we didn’t need to be. I struggled in part 2 because I kept thinking why isn’t Giselle attempting to leave town or demanding more answers, but as I thought on it Giselle is truly doing and thinking like a just barely 18 year old would be. The ending left me desperate for more answers while at the same time being satisfied with Giselle and Alvie's relationship. I hope Cami Taylor will continue to write more books that involve this universe as I will definitely read them! As a debut novel this was wonderful to read and I’m thankful I got to be an ARC reader.

Things I loved:
Alvie is amazing
You are on the edge of your seat through most of the book
I’ve never read anything like this before
Giselle is super sweet

Things I disliked:
I wish we had learned more about the coding system as a whole
I really wanted Giselle to have at least one good friend
I wanted to know what happens to the other brothers as well as more back story on all the boys

I was honored to receive an ARC of this book and I was super excited to read it once I found out that werewolves were involved. I really enjoyed the overall storyline of this book, however, I found the pacing to be a little slow and I felt that the author spent so much time on world building that sometimes it felt like it dragged on a bit. I will also say that the small scenes that were in between the major plot points at times felt a little unnecessary. I will also say that I loved the love story between Giselle and Alvie, but honestly Giselle kind of annoyed me through most of this book. I kind of wish Alvie had been the main character. But I will say that I was very happy at the ending and what happened to Royce. Overall, I really enjoyed the premise of this book and the background and world building was insane. This book really goes to show that love conquers all… even crazy football playing werewolves and their power trips.

I was hooked on Valley of the Stars from the very first page of the prologue! It’s such a cool mix of sci-fi and supernatural vibes that kept me guessing the whole time.
The characters are a huge highlight—the ones you love are super relatable, and the ones you’re supposed to hate are written perfectly. Plus, the plot is full of unexpected twists and turns that kept me glued to the book until the end. If you want a story that’s impossible to put down, definitely give this one a read!
