Spoiler-Free Summary:
In She’s Not the Only One,Jack Stevens, a former investigative journalist, is drowning in grief after the unsolved murder of his wife. When an anonymous message: “She’s not the only one”: lands in his inbox, Jack begins to understand what really happened to Lisa.

My Thoughts:
I’ll keep it simple; I hated Jack. His dialogue, his attitude, his fits of rage, and his ending sucked. The premise should have hooked me, but the main character was arrogant, impulsive, and completely unlikable. And I didn’t get the sense that’s what the author wanted me to feel.

This was an all around pretty good story! A decent mystery but I was left kind of missing a jaw dropping twist; with that being said I still liked how it was written and the basis of the story. I knew within the first 30 pages and about 10 seconds of meeting David’s character that he would be involved in the scandal and murders but reading a lot of mystery I would assume that was pretty given. I would definitely recommend to other readers and to the author kudos; I would love to read more from you and perhaps get that missing twist from future work.

A quick, easy thriller with an end I didn’t see coming. A little graphic and far fetched at times. Did the police do any investigating?? But I still enjoyed it!

She’s Not the Only One

This is the first psychological thriller I have completed in full in what feels like a lifetime. As someone who appreciates a mystery that is puzzling and twisty, yet remarkably real and relevant, I have struggled to find a story that truly captured my attention in recent months.

This story compelled me in a genuine and personal way. The gentleness of the main character and the unique pacing felt believable and human.

In many psychological thrillers I’ve found a plethora of characters or time jumps that create chaos and make it challenging to follow. The moment I have to take notes or reread chapters is the moment I begin to lose interest in a storyline. This story was simple in the best way and gave enough time with the principal characters for me to become invested and genuinely connected to them. The pathway was linear, and I was grateful for that.

There was never a point in this story where I felt I knew the “whodunit.” I couldn’t have fathomed or guessed the deeper mystery beneath it all. I was genuinely shocked by how the story unfolded, and that made for a fun and engaging read.

The only thing I personally struggled with was that while there was a great deal of tenderness and care throughout the story, the reveal of the antagonist felt ever so slightly underwhelming. Almost as though I was waiting for a jump scare that never quite came. I was surprised by who it was, but I would have loved a slightly more dramatic revelation.

I did really appreciate that the story was wrapped up so neatly in the epilogue, as I tend to enjoy books that offer a thorough sense of resolution. My least favorite reading experience is finishing a book while feeling uncomfortable in uncertainty.

One of the highlights of the story was actually the author’s note, which touched my heart and reminded me to follow my dreams. It felt like a unicorn chaser to a sordid story.

I would especially recommend this to readers who enjoy character-driven, slower-burn psychological thrillers with a strong emotional core.

Y’all. This book? Straight-up goosebumps.

One year after Jack Stevens’ wife was brutally murdered—case cold, trail dead—he gets an anonymous message that rocks him to his core: “She’s not the only one.” Five words. One rabbit hole. Zero chill.

Jack, a grief-stricken investigative journalist, dives back into the shadows, chasing whispers and buried secrets. Delplanque delivers a punchy, paranoia-soaked thriller that feels like a cold basement breeze and smells like burnt midnight coffee. The pacing is tight, the tension sharp, and the clues? Chef’s kiss twisty. You feel every gut punch Jack takes—and there are plenty.

No filler here. Just a dark, propulsive mystery that keeps your brain racing and your heart in your throat.

Final verdict: unputdownable. Creepy in the best way. Keep the lights on and trust no one.

Yikes! Not a page turner. The writing was juvenile. I ended up skimming to the end after chapter 13 just to find out who done it. I wasn’t impressed or surprised. I don’t quite understand all of the positive reviews. The reviews are why I got the book to begin with. What a mistake.
I don’t normally post bad reviews but I am hoping mine will save someone some time and money.

Thoroughly commend the author for putting his creativity to paper in his first novel! I wish I had other positive thoughts on this book. The banter didn't feel genuine, the time hop left me wanting for more personal connection with the characters, and ultimately it was very predictable.
