Update:

I can pretty much stick by what I said earlier. This was a book of sometimes sweet, sometimes funny stories. I enjoyed reading it. I enjoyed the author's way of sharing her stories, her family, traditions and her Michigan.

I love memoirs in settings like this. In a simpler time and place with family all around. Plus, how can I go wrong reading a book set in Michigan?
