The Famiglia #2

Rob's Struggle

Rate this book
He’ll do anything for the Famiglia. But will he risk it all to protect her?

Rob
My father was hauled off to prison for a triple murder he didn’t commit. Now it’s on me to secure his freedom at any cost.

Only one person could have tampered with the evidence to this degree and, lucky for me, he has a daughter in college who won’t see me coming. She’s the perfect leverage to force him to come clean. After all, what father wouldn’t move mountains to ensure his little girl is returned safe, sound, and untouched?

Except that he doesn’t.

Not at all.

In fact, it’s beginning to seem like the only one trying to protect Tessa is me.

Tessa

Until recently, the most stressful things in my life were my upcoming midterms and trying to convince my boyfriend that ‘good girls’ absolutely do not have to wait until they’re married.

But now, I’m being held hostage by the son of a notorious crime boss who’s using me to blackmail my dad. It won’t work—his dad’s the criminal and mine is the chief of police!

And if Rob thinks I’ll be a good little hostage and behave, he’s got another thing coming to him.

Then again, if he keeps walking around without a shirt on, I might be willing to do whatever he says.

Picking up where Damiano’s Rescue left off, Book Two in The Famiglia series follows the heir apparent to the Galliano syndicate as he grapples with an impossible choice: He can save his dad or he can protect the girl, but he can’t do both.

95K words, spicy romance. Forced proximity, enemies to lovers. Rob’s Struggle is the second installment in the Famiglia Series of interconnected standalone books. It is not necessary to read Book 1, but feel free to grab Damiano's Rescue on KU.

Rob and Tessa have sparks firing off like a metal grinder from the start. Tessa has a fiancé she knows little to nothing about, a father she believes could never be a dirty cop, a mother oblivious to her struggles, and feelings for a man that isn’t her fiancé. Rob has a LOT on his plate—He’s the main man while daddy’s locked away for a crime he didn’t commit, a family that needs his attention, and conflicting feelings for the woman he is holding at his penthouse that’s supposed to buy his father’s freedom. Then there’s Rob’s ideology of fidelity which is …. skewed. At best.

This is an easy, entertaining, sexy read. Rob does indeed struggle. But, with Tessa’s help, he just might make good decisions and learn what love really is all about.

Thank you for the ARC.
This book got better as it went on. I did have some LOL moments throughout. I liked the MCs together and how Tessa brings out a softer side in him but Rob sometimes comes across as younger with his obsession with boobs, referencing his favourite boob types was annoying, I wanted to slap him.
Will the manwhore that is Salvo get a book, would love to see him brought to his knees by Mary Jane.

This book was so funny. Think mafia but mafia as a rom-com book. It was kinda funny how Rob and Salvo kidnapped Tessa, and took her back to Rob's house.
It was funny when Tessa challenged him to boxing and kicked him where it hurts (literally lol) and won their bet. I liked that Rob took care of Tessa despite having technically kidnapped her.
Her dad was awful. I did like the mystery aspect behind who framed Rob's dad. I had my theories on what actually happened as I read the book.

There is something I like to address here first for the author of this story.
I just want to say something here about betrayals morals and loyalty in this book .

I get it this is friction and were dealing here with mafia tope.
Like killings cheating betrayal lies and so on ….
BUT WTF was this with Robs mother ? WTF dear author ?
I get it that his father is a cheating lying asshole it fits the whole mobster tope but WTF?!
We never met the mother thank god for that but Rob loving his mom and going to Sunday lunch regularly and having a loving mother obviously. Her own son Rob betrays her the worst!
He sets up his fathers whores for him in prison suggest it for the hard time his dad has in prison so he can fuck even the idea is from Rob to bring a whore sign in and act as his mom !!!
Yes his mom knows about her cheating ass of husband she’s looking the other way yes yes it’s all ok.Her own son Rob doing this to his mom is over the top betrayal it’s disgusting. You don’t need enemies if you have such an illoyal son!
This scene was worse than any stupid mention of his sexual encounters wit OW.
So when Rob is ok what his father is doing even helping him cheating how can he be better then his dad? Yes we have a HEA here but no way Rob can stay faithful and loyal to Tessa when he’s able to do this to his own mother.! No way!
Tessa is beautiful funny in his eyes and on top of that a virgin and according to him his strippers are badass fit beauties with killer bodies and mouths only lacking the virgin status here.
So again no way!

Thanks to the author here for not getting it worse then Rob though the whole book thinking and comparing about all his favourite strippers !

It really could have gone worse but then I would’ve DNF it for sure.
This could have been sooooo perfect good without Rob beeing the manwhore he is that gets the virgin.

Why why authors do this always?! Whyyyyyyy😂🙈
I liked the plot and all the kidnapping stuff was so funny and he never wanted to hurt her he was gentle and sweet.
I
Loved the how he felt and fights his father for her just loved it!

Ok I get it let him be the whore before no problem here but him always till the end of the book talking explaining thinking about his „ bj‘s threesomes sexorgies titts and asses of the strippers“ then him saying goodbye to his favourite stripper ugh come on dear author we don’t care about the real name of this girls.
Then the virgin part I am ok with it too no problem here at all BUT why is this inexperienced
virgin all of a sudden acting like a porn star ?!
Let her be shy und slowly growing to a manwhore like Rob in their hot scenes at least they were actually good.

Sometimes the h was badass I liked her but then she came to be a little doormat she took this bullshit he did to her like the videos fake or not I mean give him more fight.
She came out like she wanted him only to do the deed and took her cherry 🍒 she was a little emotionless but again that’s on the author here it’s her character.

She was fooling around with H while she was „ engaged „ for over a year guess both h and H are sluts now.

Even if she never wanted the guy she was engaged to she still begged him to take her back ?! What the f?
She was using the H to show her some stuff or what she could use on her fiancé finally getting him to f… her sorry but she is such a emotionless and dull character even as a virgin she was acting like a slut herself .Robs character was a least open and honest about being a manslut.

Then this whole her being in the strip club and he lets her leave with a total stranger Rob at first fights and then just let her go to a dark hallway were this stranger took advantage of her but yes I get it it was so she could act badsass and defend herself like Rob teach her right? He never came after her the dark hallway in the club after making a big fuss at first then she smacked the stranger who didn’t get the „no“ around and runs in to Robs arms he was like oh baby why are you running like this? What ?
Then him a being hypocrite about her engagement all to sloppy and not good written and thought through ….sorry

I am so so sorry this could have been 5 stars because I liked the chemistry between this two and even while there’s no cheating or other shit I couldn’t geht past him and this strippers mentioning all the time sorry just to much .
I am really sad about this low rating here because this could have been solid 5 stars if better written.
I liked how this guys fall for the h‘s in this series but I can’t read anymore and definitely don’t want to read about Salv if he’s getting his book I am staying far away from it.

Still 2.5 stars for the hot scenes and funny banter

I have to admit, I went into this one with high hopes after the rollicking ride that was Damiano’s Rescue. While this sequel didn’t quite match its predecessor in sheer fun or outrageous antics (nothing here tops Damiano playing dead, let’s be honest), there’s still plenty to enjoy—especially if you’re a fan of banter, inner monologues, and morally questionable charmers. Rob, our leading man, is a walking contradiction: exasperatingly stubborn, hopelessly single-minded in his quest to free his father from prison, bursting with charisma, and unapologetically ruled by his libido. His internal commentary is pure gold—his boob-rating system (yes, really), and naming Tessa’s boobs had me snorting into my coffee. He’s infuriating, ridiculous, and somehow utterly lovable… except for his maddening double standards when it comes to loyalty in marriage. That bit? Not so charming. Tessa, meanwhile, starts off a bit meh—wishy-washy, a little too trusting, and not exactly radiating backbone. But stick with her. As the daughter of the police commissioner (and perfect leverage for Rob’s blackmail scheme), she finds herself in deep fast. Her insta-attraction to Rob felt a little shallow, especially considering she had a hot boyfriend and, y’know, Rob kidnapped her. But over time, she surprises you. Tessa doesn’t necessarily transform so much as she quietly grows on you—like a flower you didn’t notice blooming until it’s suddenly there, soft and steady. She’s naïve, yes, but that wide-eyed belief in the good in people is exactly what knocks the wind out of Rob—and us, too. Let’s also take a moment to side-eye Brooke. Best friend? Please. Honestly, I found Salvo far more loyal and likable. Despite the darker moments (this is a mafia romance, after all), the story strikes a great balance between action, humor, spice, and emotional depth. Tessa doesn’t just change Rob, by the end, you know he’d burn the world down just to keep her. It might not have had me laughing out loud like Damiano’s Rescue (let’s face it, Paige was simply unique), but it still delivered an addictive blend of sass, suspense, and spice that kept me glued to the pages.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and getting to know not only Rob better, but Salvo too. Both were side characters in the previous book about their enforcer, Damiano.

This book expanded upon the Familia in a way that was refreshing, although it did take the whole book for Rob to admit he kidnapped Tessa. I would classify these books as ' Mafia lite' as it is there but in the background, if that makes sense. You definitely know they are Mafia, but the stories center around the men and the women that building them to their knees, as opposed to some other books that are so dep into the killings and other activities that the romance is pushed into the background.

The story evolved quite innocently, and organically even though it was labeled as a" forced proximity" story. I enjoyed that Tessa had more backbone than the heroine in book 1, and tried to stand her ground while falling for Rob. Both characters grew as the story progressed and I appreciated that safe sex was promoted seeing as the men in these books seem to be with many women.

I think that the storyline with Megan at the Cat couldn have been a longer arc, seeing as she and Rob had extensive history but I was also glad that once Rob realized he cared for Tessa he never cheated. Seeing how wrapped he was around Tessa's finger nearly did me in. And the sexy times were well worth it. Just read it, you'll see.

I did wish for more explanation about why Tessa's father did the things he was accused of - beating of working girls. I think there should have been an explanation given when Tessa finally spoke with him near the end of the book.

The ending felt rushed, and I was left wanting one more chapter to tie their story up. I am hoping to see more of Rob and Tessa in Johnny's book too, as I think there wasn't any closure to that particular storyline either. Especially since they live above Rob's former strip club that is now owned by Johnny! That's gotta be weird, having to see your ex with a new man all the time, even if Johnny really didn't seem to want Tessa, just using her to skate charges with her father.

I tried to stretch out my reading, as the book was so well written that I didnt want it to end. Looking forward to reading more books in this series.

I received this ARC (thank you for that) yesterday and read it immediately. I finished it in a day. Did I have other pressing things I should be doing. YES, yes I did. Didn't care once I started.

This review may seem cryptic but I don't want to spoil or share to much. But certain things need to be said.

I made notes as I read the book and that decision was made when I read the opening. Oh my. I was shocked. I almost felt a little prudish even. I think I blushed.

The MMC , Rob pissed me off a lot in this book. That isn't a bad thing. The story gave me an emotional reaction. Still not sure how I feel about Rob. I like parts of him and then there was the infuriating parts. He is definitely morally grey and it was perfect.

Rob is funny though. I love his list of favourite type of boob which is revealed out of sequence. Third favourite is reveal first, then fifth, two, four and finally one. Rob is definitely a boob man. And I never looked at boobs from that 5 part prespective.

I have read a lot of romance stories. A lot, a lot and you see the same phrases used again and again. There are only so many words that can be used when referring to male and female parts. The author used some unique terms that most writers don't include. I appreciated this and they added to the story. Soldier, Johnson, it continues...

The ending of Chapter 40, was an OMG moment for me. Did not see that coming. Made me like Rob again.

Here comes the cryptic part of my review. The Van. Did she or didn't see, that really is the question. I enjoyed that banter a lot. And both characters make very good arguments towards such reference. Sorry again, don't want to reveal.

Overall the story was frustrating, funny, dirty (yet a slow burn) and dark everything you want in a darker romance.

I will be going to read book 1 and I can't wait for book 3 (which was set up beautifully.)

📍My Thoughts

Oh my goodness! The ending of the book has left me eager to start the next one. You can already imagine that I loved it.

This book was a complete surprise from beginning to end. It was very different from the first book, with a noticeably different tone. In this story, we get a deeper glimpse into the world of the mafia—without losing the humor at certain moments, which I think the author balanced perfectly.

I was very excited to start Rob's story, and I was definitely happy and thrilled with the reading—and with my man. Because, let’s be honest, every MMC I read ends up becoming one of my men. 🙂‍↔️👀 Rob’s loyalty to his family is what captivated me the most—his intentions are always so pure, even when he has to do something unusual or not entirely legal to help them.

Our FMC? I absolutely loved her. Her innocence and her desire to explore, even when she finds herself in situations most would consider dangerous, were so refreshing. I loved her way of seeing things and how she reacted to any situation. Even if she’s in danger, she won’t stay quiet—she’ll speak her mind. I found that incredibly amusing.

📍Do I recommend it?

Of course I do! I love, love, love Rob’s Struggle. I feel like it’s the perfect book for those who want to dip their toes into dark romance while still enjoying moments of humor throughout. It explores themes found often in dark romance novel without diving too deep into the darkness.

So with that, I’ll end by saying—if you’re looking for a morally gray character with a slight obsession with boobs (😂), and a completely innocent FMC in every sense of the word, this is the book for you!

Don’t wait any longer—order Rob’s Struggle now.
And when you’ve read it, come back and tell me:

What was your favorite part?

Rob’s Struggle

The Famiglia (Book 2)

Leah Merrill

I really enjoyed this second-of-two presentation. Roberto Galliano, Jr, son of a mob boss, kidnaps Tessa Brisbane, the police chief’s daughter, because the police chief arrested his father at a well-attended banquet. Rob is convinced his father is innocent of murder charges while Tessa is equally sure her father had a good reason for the arrest and will soon be explaining himself and rescuing his daughter.

Rob and Tessa spar verbally, do a little boxing, argue about their fathers, and keep themselves entertained while waiting for Tessa’s rescue. Even though they both have Significant Others, that doesn’t stop them from being attracted to each other. The way they deal with that attraction is gritty, fierce, and right there on the page. No fade-to-black here!

One of the things I most liked about this story is the gradual lead up to the explanation of why it takes longer than a week for Tessa to get rescued. Along the way there are a couple of twists I didn’t expect, and an ending that surprised me while it provided a different kind of happily-ever-after than most books I’ve read lately.

I’m giving this book all the stars because not only is it a well-told story with flashes of humor, the writing flows well, the pace is quick, and the characters made me laugh. I’m definitely going to go back and catch up with Book 1, Damiano’s Rescue, while we all wait for Johnny’s Bombshell in September!

I have read a lot of books with man whores which is such an overdone plot point. This one takes the cake. The H and his friend got bored at a ceremony where his Dad is going to make a speech. So they take two girls outside the area and get side by side blow jobs. Very descriptive arguing about who was going to cum first.

He has a strip club where he gets blow jobs all the time and fucks girls from there with a favourite one named Megan. Him and this other guy who is in arranged engagement with h share girls all the time. Anyway the h’s father is chief and police and the H decides to use her for his own gain.

He is disrespectful and even during a scene tells h that Megan can really suck cock. Now he does not hook up with her then but it was a pretty nasty scene. Anyway, he decides he wants to break his own arranged engagement yep he’s engaged too and marry the h instead. A little conflict and he is forced to give up his strip club. There is a scene where he is saying goodbye to Megan that felt more emotional than most scenes with the h. He was thinking of all the awesome times he had with her. Writing was not bad but it read to much like HS drama at times and I never fully connected in the love story. It honestly felt like the sexual lifestyle he was leading and being in the mafia that it’s only a matter of time before he cheats.

I love a snarky FMC—the kind that doesn’t take any sh!t from the MMC and talks back but is still okay with doubling down occasionally.

Tess in Rob’s Struggle is that character and may resonate with many readers. She happens to be the daughter of the Chief of Police, whom Rob, a mafia heir, uses as leverage when things go awry when his father is arrested. Readers met Rob in Book 1, Damiano’s Rescue, and the way that book ended, I knew Rob’s story would be full of excitement, spice, and edginess that only Author Leah Merrill could deliver.

Rob and Tess’ romance is described as a slow teasing burn, yet the story is fast-paced, and the dialogue brings great comedic timing, steaminess, and a plot that readers can easily dive into.

I mean, when the characters debate on whether añ4l shmex is the plural vs. two añ4ls, followed by a hot and steamy detailed smutty scene, winky, wink—you know what I mean—Leah Merrill has indeed captured the essence of these two characters.

The Famiglia Series is a must-read—make sure you begin with Damiano’s Rescue; you won’t regret it, followed by Rob’s Struggle. This one does leave on a cliffhanger, and I am incredibly excited to see how everything unfolds!

3.75 - 4 stars.

I have read book 1 in this series so was interested in finding out what Rob would do next, and for the most part I did enjoy this book, I just struggled personally at times with who he was and how he did things he supposedly didn't usually do. I did like seeing the spark between him and Tessa, to see the change in them both, they grew on me as I read their story. I liked seeing them and Salvo together, you could almost forget about kidnappings, killings and corruption when it was just them spending time together.

Every so often there was a scene that would make me smile, then Rob would do something that made me want to kick him, then a scene with some humorous aspects would come along which would allow me to gloss over that. I would like to see Salvo and Mary Jane's story to be told, this seems to be a theme for me for this series, wanting side characters to have their story told....I know book 3 is going to have Rob's sister in it so he for sure will make an appearance, I just hope that he and Tessa make an appearance together as I would like to see how things are going for them. This is a dark romance, filled with some pretty intense steamy scenes, with lots of angst and anticipation. Rob's Struggle is in fact a tangible thing. Power isn't everything. Respect only goes so far. And your enemies don't want to see you win. What do you expect when reading a Mafia book. Once you pick this up, you won't be able to set it down until you've finished it.

Rob definitely has a lot on his plate between saving the Familia, setting traps for the unsuspecting, and putting out the fires that then arise. That's a lot for one man, especially when you throw in this little lady, Tessa. Sweet, innocent, naive Tessa. She will push his buttons like no other, test his patience and rile him up consistently. With so much uncertainty, secrets, and chaos brewing in their world, who knows what will happen tomorrow, or next week, or a month down the line. Fingers crossed they all make it out alive, relationships whole, and a brighter future than before.

I highly recommend!

I liked the first book, so I got excited when I saw book two popping up. And with good reason, since I had a great time.

This book has some action, great humor, and some fun 18+ content. It was a great mix, keeping me engaged the whole time. I read it in one sitting and even brought my ereader to the toilet, which I only do when I'm really deep into my book!

There were some plot points I found very fun in particular, but of course I won't tell them (because: ✨spoilers✨) and leave you all to find it out on yourself.

I got this book as an ARC, and I'm very grateful for that. I'm leaving this review completely voluntarily!

Rob and Tessa🥰

Second books in the Famiglia series. Roberto Galliano jr is the heir of the Galliano Syndicate. His father is wrongly accused of killing three men, the Bianchi. Wanted to get his father out of prison, he decided to “kidnap “ Tessa Brisbane, the daughter of the Chief Police of Chicago Neil Brisbane. He is blackmailing him so he confess that it’s a lie to get rid of the Galliano Syndicate. But what Rob didn’t know, was that he might fall for her, like really really bad for her. What is he going to do? Protect her from her father’s lies or just use her to get what he wants, his father freedom?

Well Leah Merrill did it again… this book is more focused on the dilemma between Rob wants to save his father or him falling in love with his enemy daughter. And she got it right!! And don’t forget the attraction between them. It’s so hot!!! I was at the edge of my seat just watching and waiting for it to explode!! And it was sooooo worth it!!! And she left us with what will happen next with Johnny in the next book!!! Congrats! Now I’m just waiting to see what’s next!!!

Rob’s Struggle is quite suspenseful and a page turning mafia romance. The story is amazingly written, exceptionally balanced with action/romance and phenomenally executed by Leah Merrill. This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and was blown away by the storyline. This novel has a marvelous plot, wonderful characters and a breathtaking ending for the main characters. Rob’s Struggle follows the story of Rob and Tessa. The characters are fabulously written and perfectly executed throughout the story. I absolutely enjoyed getting to know both Rob and Tessa as well as witnessing their story unfolding throughout the book. The chemistry between these two is absolutely amazing and undeniably irresistible. I love that they have a happy ending to their story with them being happy together as a couple. I would most certainly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a new mafia romance to read. I’m definitely going to be checking out more of this author’s work in the future.

After his father is put in jail for crimes he didn't commit, Rob Galliano is determined to prove his innocence. Since it was the chief of police that cooked up the evidence, Rob has an inspired idea of what it will take to make the crooked cop admit his guilt. When Tessa is kidnapped by the son of the notorious crime boss her father just threw in jail, she refuses to believe that her father won't soon be busting down his door and rescuing her. But after a week and there is still no indication that her father is coming to her rescue, she can't help but wonder if Rob is telling the truth, and it doesn't hurt that he seems to like to walk around shirtless.
Compelling and beautifully written characters that jump off the page and kept me engaged in their story. Some bloody violence, and plenty of steam with some surprising twists in the plot that kept me glued to the pages of this book. A must-read I recommend to other readers.

𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔~

Rob Galliano (26) has all the pressure of running the Famiglia along with the added stress of doing everything he can to get his father out of prison for a crime he didn’t commit.
Kidnapping the Chief of police daughter Tessa (18) sounds like a solid plan but it doesn't all end as planned for either of them.
Rob was super obsessed over the tatas and was a super softy for Tessa even when he didn’t want to be. Tess was innocent with a sass that had her giving it back to Rob.
I really enjoyed both these characters I do fell like it’s not your typical mafia there is more humor to lighten the darker side of the mafia. I liked the strangers to dislike to lovers element and the eight year age gap between the two of them. This is a standalone having a happy ending for these two.
Excited to continue this series into the next book.

'Family' means everything to Rob. In order to prove his father was set up he kidnaps the daughter of the Chief of Police. Tess is only supposed to be held for the weekend until the courts reopen on Monday morning, when her father is sure to seek the release of Rob's father by informing the judge that he is innocent. However this does not happen, and Tess is left 'stuck' at Rob's place. Meanwhile Tess' boyfriend Johnny is also searching for her. Johnny is from another 'family' and has the dirt on her father. Complicated right?
Rob, although a mafia son, is a gentleman too. He doesn't harm Tess in any way, finds that he enjoys having a her around his place and starts to fall for her. He loves that she is innocent, funny and kind.
Rob and Tess have a great connection, and his inner thoughts are quite cute when he is thinking of her. All in all quite a fun book to read with the spice.

Look, I just cannot put into words how much I love Leah Merrill’s stories. We have mafia, we have humor, we have age gap, we have kidnapping in this one, but “you got in the van on your own, Tess.” 😆 😂 (you have to read it to understand). There is so much banter, the typical guy’s way of thinking including all the spicy thoughts in the multiple POV’s and all the little details immerse you in the stories immediately. I have such a great time reading them! Leah has quickly become an auto-buy author for me. I will keep coming back for anything she writes at this point.

𝓡𝓸𝓫’𝓼 𝓢𝓽𝓻𝓾𝓰𝓰𝓵𝓮: 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓕𝓪𝓶𝓲𝓰𝓵𝓲𝓪 𝓑𝓸𝓸𝓴 𝓣𝔀𝓸 picks up where Book 1 left off, but we dive right into Rob and Tessa’s story. Rob definitely struggles with some huge decisions in this one, but it is so endearing to watch the way he and Tessa fall for one another. I’m fully invested and waiting for Book 3 now! (Also, I think it’s time for Salvo to have his own book 🙏🏼)

Rob’s Struggle is the second book in The Familia Series and can be read as a standalone but there are some plots from the first book.
We meet Rob the eldest son of the Galliano family in the first book. Rob is put in charge after his father is publicly arrested. Knowing his father is innocent he does everything to help his father prove the Chief of Police is behind it. He even kidnaps the daughter, Tessa. When Rob finds out who Tessa is promised to and why it changes everything.
Tessa is a college student living life with her fiancée Johnny and clubbing with her best friend Brooke until, Rob kidnaps her to get her father, the Chief of Police, to admit that he is framing Rob’s father. After spending time with Rob, Tessa realizes there is more to Rob then meets the eye.
He can save his dad or he can protect the girl, but he can’t do both, or can he?
I am loving this series so far. I would love to see Salvo get his HEA.

OMG the way this book started had me giggling it was perfection. What a way to start a story off had me completely glued to the pages. This is Rob and Tessa's story. When Rob's father is arrested Rob takes things into his own hands and Kidnaps Tessa the Police chief's daughter. LOL well technically she got into the van. These two have sparks flying from the first moment they are together but each is engaged to someone else as in arranged marriages. The story is fast paced as we get some sweet heartwarming moments with these two, Rob is very open about his attraction to her but she doesn't know how to feel about her emotions towards him. They push each other's buttons until they crack. The story is written at the perfect pace and spans just over a week in time, the way we see Tessa struggle with even thinking her father is a dirty cop is heartbreaking. We have suspense, mystery some twists and a very protective, possessive Rob who finds his true heart match.

Rob’s Struggle had all the makings of a forbidden, dangerous romance, a mafia man falling for the woman he should never have touched, and that setup really hooked me at first.

I wanted to love it. I was ready for tension, for fire, for something that would leave me breathless. But for me, the emotional pull just wasn’t strong enough.

The story had so much potential, but I kept wishing for more, more chemistry, more intensity, more risk between the characters, especially considering the danger they were supposed to be facing.

If you like slower-burn mafia romances with a softer edge, without heavy violence or a lot of heat, you might really enjoy this one. It’s a quieter take on a dark premise. It just didn’t quite give me the emotional storm I was craving.

Book 2 in The Famiglia is Rob's Struggle and it's Rob and Tessa's intense, wild ride. You know you're in for quite a journey when the son of a Mob Boss kidnaps a Police Chiefs daughter! They are absolutely hysterical together and needless to say smokin hot once they get past the arguing. I love the banter between them and of course the spicy times too. This author has written a great, engaging story that quickly pulls you in but doesn't let you go so quick. I can't wait for Johnny's Bombshell. If you haven't already, I really suggest going back and reading Damiano's Rescue. This is proving to be a fantastic series!

I did read Damiano's Rescue before reading Rob's Struggle as I personally like to read the books in series in order. I was glad I did as but it wasn't important to do so as this is a standalone even though some characters mentioned are introduced in the first book.

This is Rob & Tessa's book that starts off well. There are funny moments in this book, banter between the characters, and once the spice starts, it just keeps on going. Rob wasn't expecting the reaction he had to Tessa and I'm here for it. The relationship between these two developed into something sweet and well worth reading.

Overall a good read and I recommend this.

Somehow stayed intense through every page

Yes, there were moments of humour, many moments of passion, some moments of sadness, but the energy remained high throughout.

The main characters (Rob & Tessa) with their feelings & secrets (and various blends of truth & lie) kept me engaged. The supporting characters (especially Salvo) made the story that bit richer.

Although I often skip Mafia/gangster stories, I went for this book as I had so enjoyed book 1 ("Damiano's Rescue") and I was delighted to find that the quality here is every bit as high.

(I was fortunate to receive an ARC however the above is, as ever, my own opinion.)

I love the youthfulness of Rob. Yes he is basically the head of the family at this point but I love that he still has a playful energy about him. I read a ton of mafia books and by mid 20s- early 30s the MMCs are all so serious and lose that fun nature about them. But not Rob. He is such a unique blend of serious, possessive, alpha mafia boss and a good sense of humor. The banter between him and Salvo is gold! I love how Tessa matches his energy too. She isn’t afraid to stand up to him even though she’s young and kind of naive. The two of them together just make me smile. I can’t wait to read more in this world!!! I need more of Salvo and his mystery woman!

I saw this book advertised in a jealous/obsessive/possessive book so I was all about it. I think I missed all those parts. The book opens (literally the first page) with our H getting a beej from a random woman. Not really my thing but he hasn’t met h or even concocted his kidnapping plan so it is what it is. But it kind of set the tone for the rest of the book. In all honesty, I had to skim the book as I just couldn’t connect with the characters. Supposedly our H is “obsessed” with the h but even the parts I did read from skimming there’s constant mentions of his past conquests and how good the girls at his strip club are. I got the sense that he’d easily cheat or come close to it. Both characters come across as kind of immature even though our H is supposed to be temporarily in charge of a crime family. I can see how others really enjoyed it but it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
