Rowan Shane is an author of steamy romance. When she's not writing about protective guys and the women who have their hearts, you can find her curled up with a good book, experimenting with new recipes, or planning her next adventure.
Rowan loves connecting with her readers and sharing her passion for all things romance. If you crave dominant heroes, real heroines who can hold their own, and scorching hot scenes, then her books are for you.
Prepare for possessive alphas, undeniable attraction, a few cliffhangers, and a whole lot of happily ever afters.
This book was the final installment of The Dark Ascendent trilogy and it was perfect!
Rowan's characters blended to create the perfect cohesive whole. They are perfectly balanced and this makes Brigid and her men perfect for each other.
The wrap-up of their story contained so much emotion, they came together so perfectly and it made it hard not to feel what they felt. The raw emotions and the fight within were clear and achingly beautiful.
Definitely worth the read if you are looking for a why-choose, dark romantasy series in an academy setting.
Rowan is on my 'authors to watch' list. I can't wait to see what she shares with us next!
This whole series was a whirlwind and I was absolutely here for it!! I couldn't put any of these books down. Well worth the read!

Side note. Eff Liara. When I saw her POV I was like this B!!! I really enjoyed how B gave her chances on letting her help her instead of just simply attacking no questions asked.
I found myself skipping more scenes than actually reading them. The smut was oddly placed and didn’t flow well with everything that had been happening. The girl being instantly ready for any of her guys is an ick for me in RH books.
I found myself not really liking Brigid throughout the entire series. She’s just annoying and a push over. The guys all describe her as powerful and strong but we never see that tbh, it’s just something we’re supposed to believe from outsider input.
The plot felt super rushed in this book, but to be fair it felt super rushed in the other books as well. We were told about things that were happening instead of being shown so it was hard to follow what was going on at certain points in the book.
There were also so many grammar, spelling, and editing errors it’s astounding. I don’t know how this book made it to publishing. Although, the other top books in this series are the exact same. It gets to a point where it’s annoying and hard to glance over when it happens so frequently in the same book. I can understand it happening in one or two spots, but the amount I counted while reading this one book was aggravating. The author substituted publishing speed for accuracy in this series and it shows.
I don’t believe I will be picking up books from this author in the future.
I tried to finish this series several times because it kept showing in my recommendations. I forced myself to finish the series but regret the waste of time.
Three long books later and the FMC has literally learned and developed nothing. She has spent the entire time scared or having sex. Not at any point does she use her supposed great power on her own, knowingly and intentionally. What's almost worse is all of the unknown information. What happened to her parents? How did she lose two sets of parents and no one blinked an eye? Where are all the other gods? Are there other gods? What about the other types of supernaturals? What about the other faces of the Moriggan? Etc.
This was a bit a little better. She's still pretty much afraid of everything. Which is slightly annoying. She does have moments where ahe seems a bit more bold and not so timid. I just wish she was more confident and less wishy washy. Maria and Rory where my favorite.
Well I was not a fan of this series I feel like we missed a ton of the story between defeating the council which was no battle at all to apparently so not sure why they were thought to be so powerful to begin with also I didn’t like Bridget at all she was winny and self deprecating until the end with no real growth she was an extremely weak character this series seemed more about erotic scenes than any real story to me won’t be reading the author again
This is it—the final chapter in Brigid’s journey—and wow, what a wild, emotional, and completely satisfying ride. Awakened Destiny kicks off with action from the very first page and never lets up. I couldn’t put it down.
Brigid is literally losing herself to the darkness, and the tension is real. Watching her fight to hold on—while her fated bonds start to slip—was heartbreaking and beautiful all at once. The emotional stakes were sky-high, and I felt every twist. You can tell Rowan Shane put her whole heart into wrapping this story up, because the ending? Absolutely perfect. Everything came together in a way that made sense, felt earned, and left me so happy I could cry.
The guys? Still amazing. Still hot. Still deeply loyal and complex and wonderful in all the ways that make reverse harem romance so addicting. Each of their connections with Brigid felt real and intense—and I loved how their stories unfolded individually and as a group.
Honestly, this whole book just talks to you. It’s laid out so well, the pacing is smooth, and the emotions hit hard. I laughed, I got stressed, I swooned—then I immediately wanted to re-read the whole trilogy from the start.
If you’ve been following Brigid’s story, this finale will absolutely deliver everything you’re hoping for. And if you’re new to the series? Go back to book one and thank me later. Rowan Shane nailed this ending. 💜
I tried to like this series. The plot had promise. Brigid is the problem. She's not likeable. Sometimes she says or does something that gives me hope that she can be better. But the next thing you know, she's weak and stupid again. I really didn't like her. The whole scene with Laria was supposed to make me believe she was some benevolent being. But all I saw was weak stupidity. First she ignores her gut feeling that something is wrong. Then she goes out there like she's gods gift to humanity, only to practically get killed as she "considers her options". This is me inserting my eyes rolling here. Basically, she almost gets killed before Laria falls apart. The whole thing was stupid and anticlimactic. I didn't even get what Laria wanted. Laria wanted to be queen without dating the prince? How would she accomplish that when he hated her? What was Laria trying to accomplish for years? I didn't get it.
We also got no real resolution with the council. Sure, they took off, but nothing was concluded. What about the rebels? I didn't really see a plan for bringing them into the fold of the community.
The sex scenes were awkward and happened in weird situations. So many repetitive conversations during sex made the scenes predictable and boring. I honestly didn't care for this series. Again, it had potential. It just didn't have likeable characters and it dragged on.
DNF @ 35%. I just couldn’t take it anymore. I wanted to finish the series because I usually force myself, I don’t DNF often, but I just cannot. She hardly knows anything about the MMCs, you get no kind of real day to day at the academy, it feels like chapters are just missing, and like 85% of the book is just them sleeping together.

Writing Brigid, Lochan, Tiernan, Rory, Marius and Callen's happily ever after was so much fun, and bittersweet! It will be hard to say goodbye to these characters and their story. Thank you so much to everyone for reading and joining this journey! <3

This is the final book of the trilogy and it was action packed right from the beginning. I loved how everything worked out and the ending was just perfect.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The best ending to all the madness. I hated the way Laria died and how Brigid tried to save her instead of killing her. I would have killed her. But everything is right in this world and as it should be. Definitely will recommend to my friends.
I really wanted to enjoy this series but it lacked so much depth. There was so much happening but also barely anything happening at the same time. I felt most of the supernatural elements were often overlooked and made redundant. A disappointing RH series.
The characters were awesome I think there were some added details or things added on just to make the book longer in some spots but otherwise awesome story!
Tried to finish the series but couldn’t do it. There was no plot, they were doing it every chapter or so (even when one of them was almost dying). DNFed at 39%
I'm marking as DNF. I got to page 169 and just felt like I was reading the same things constantly and Brigid wasn't really progressing as a person or with her magic.
The plot line didn’t start off at terrible but there are so many plot holes and changes that my head hurts. I skimmed and skipped so much that I finished this series in maybe 5 hours tops over a few days. I had to force myself to finish it and I’m frustrated and annoyed that nothing ensured closure or more information. Frustrated.
