Truth.

They same names determine your path in life, and a life of Truth sounds like a virtuous promise. Secure, safe, and sometimes a little boring. But that's alright, because the thirty-five-year-old-lawyer has it all figured out.
Don't lie. Don't steal. Don't Kill. Everything else is negotiable.
Sometimes that's hard to do as a part of the largest King Pin family in Southern America, but his personal morals and guiding rules are rock-solid and serving him well. Right up until he falls into the trap of Consequence.

Quiet and elusive, Alise Hatchette uses her station as the baby of the family to build her own legacy. She knows connections are resources, and after watching her sister build countless connections in the industry, she's ready to put them to use according to what's outlined in her rigorous five-year plan. There's only one problem though, and that's Truth Greene and his rules.
Particularly his ridiculous dating rule.
However she soon learns why some rules aren't meant to be broken, especially his...

In Truth & Consequence, Truth Greene has rules for dating women, and being involved with Alise Hatchette would break all of them. Alise has a plan, and messing around with Truth was only supposed to be a small detour. Neither of them is ready for the havoc that they wreak on each other’s lives.

I received this novel as an ARC, and I very much enjoyed it. The plot is driven by conflicts, and the way in which the main characters try to deal with them. Truth and Alise were flawed people who could not help but to fall in love with each other. The author’s decision to makes use of the phrase “Man makes plans, God laughs” was very on point. I’ll admit that I was a little apprehensive due to the content warnings, but I’m happy that I decided to read it anyway. I adored this couple.

So, if you like Age Gap Romances, Rich Black People from Alabama, and unhinged people finding love, then this is for you.

Is it bad I wanted a bit more chaos 😅😅 Alise and Truth were very toxic cute. It was nice that they were a bit more subdued compared to the rest of the Burry-Hatchette clan, but I wanted to see more of that act up I know is deep in them. I think them having their own timeline of events would have helped build more of a connection to them, too. I still enjoyed their shenanigans! It was also nice to see more of the extended family that we’ll probably be revisiting 👀👀👀

Thank you to Aria Daze for the ARC of this book💚

Through this whole book all I could think was that I needed to go back and read Burry The Hatchette. Both because I loved that book so freak much and because the timelines run parallel and I want to see that story with this new perspective added in. Anyways this was absolutely a fantastic addition to this series. The dynamic between Truth and Alise was so fun, and it continues the theme from book one of being absolutely fantastical. The age gap combined with the domme dynamic made for an interesting read to me. But you should be aware that the fmc is 21, since that may not be your cup of tea. But I think that’s what made the power dynamic fun and different. However, the way the 3rd act came about wasn’t my favorite. I think Alisa just deciding she was in to deep and cutting and running would have been more true to character imo. But Truth’s response was the stuff of unhinged romcom dreams are made of, talk about crashing out lol. Even in that I think I would have really loved to see earlier instances of Slime taking the reins. Overall though I really liked and enjoyed this read when I tell you laughed out loud and talked to myself as I was reading this book, it was such an enjoyable reading experience.

Truth and consequences

One thing about Aria Daze? If she drops a book, I’m reading it—every single time. And more often than not, it’s my second read, because I already got the ARC and just had to spin the block again.

What I love most about Aria’s work is how you can literally feel her growth with each release. She continues to push herself, and as a reader, I’m happily along for the ride. Her stories aren’t just romance—they’re layered, emotionally rich, and steeped in nuance. She writes Black women into spaces we’re rarely centered in, with such care and intention. Whether she’s exploring mental health, complex family dynamics, the beauty of found family, or the quiet knowing of Black woman intuition—Aria gets it. And she doesn’t just write it, she sees us. Her characters are always allowed to feel deeply, to react, to stumble, and still be worthy of love and connection. Her stories are fiction, but they carry the weight and warmth of truth.

By now, my reviews of her books have really become love letters to her catalog as a whole. And this latest release? It’s another gem. I’m not sure if I loved it more than the first book in this series, but honestly, it doesn’t even matter—because it was still a 10/10 read. Would recommend. Every time

Alise and Truth were a funny pair. I lowkey wanted more chaos lmao but I loved how the story timeline was the same as Burry the Hatchette so it was nice to see a fresh POV on that story. This is an age gap romance so if that’s not your cup of tea then this book may not be for you. I wanted to explore more of the fem domme aspect of Alise. Once Truth was locked in though, he was LOCKED IN. I love when an MMC don’t play about who he wants. Thank you Aria for the ARC and happy release day!

I truly did not want this to end. Its been awhile since I read the first book so I forgot how much i enjoyed the writing and this family. Just a perfect balance of drama, humor, and romance. I mean the banter is *chef’s kiss*. I think i enjoyed Truth and Alise more than Andrea & Boogie. They were both crazy lol. I hope there is more planned for this cast of characters. Such a great read. Highly recommend.

Alise....you did it to yourself!

You see what happens when you play with fire......you get burnt!🤣
They told her to leave that man alone but noooooooooo now some random is dead and y'all are making big messes!

I really want to know how she did it though....some people really just got that power huh?

This man really cavemaned her and I'm not mad at it!

Yes...yes read the book these lil freaky frogs couldn't even handle themselves lol

4.5 on scale but, 5 because I could feel this was to dive more into the story of Alice and Truth. They were more docile in this one but, had to be so, as this story continues readers could still wonder about the follow-up novel. Great Job Aria.

Laugh out LOUD hilarious!

😂😂😂 Truth and Alise had me hollering at work at their shenanigans. I love this series and its chaotic characters. Aria Daze doesn't know a dull moment Willow because she kept the foolishness going the whole time.

I love Truth and Alise's Sexy selves!
This is truly the series I didn’t know I needed. Aria has outdone herself. This one was so good. I got it as an e-ARC. Yall need to get into it. Truth and Alise are sexy AF and bring so much laughs. There were moments my lil asthmatic lungs were hurting from all the laughing I was doing. It was a good time. I will be reading this again. Regardless of the trigger warnings Aria took care of us as readers as always and made sure to give a lot of light and laughs even though it got dark. There are definitely moments that can go there. I hope there's more from this Black Mafia family.
