Ghostverse #1

Pucking Feral: Part One

Rate this book
For two months, I've been hiding in the last place my NHL ex-fiancé would ever look.

The home arena of the Ghosts, his team's fiercest rivals.

And it's working. No one knows I'm here.

Until Wraith—the mute, scarred "monster" power forward fans whisper about—discovers me sick and weak in the maintenance tunnels that are his sanctuary.

Instead of turning me in, Wraith helps me hide. And when the team's new winger, Valek, discovers me, my feral-alpha-turned-personal-guardian-angel attacks him to protect me.

I finish the job with a fire extinguisher.

Now Valek's recovering in the Ghosts' pack house with a concussion, and I’m hiding in Wraith's loft.

The Ghosts are offering me a choice. A home. Protection from my ex without strings attached.

The problem? I don't know how to trust anymore.

Not when the last alpha's promises ended with me burning off my mark.

_____

THE GHOSTS ALPHA HOCKEY TEAM:
THANE, the team captain carrying the weight of the world
WHISKEY, alpha embodiment of pure of heart, broad of chest, dumb of ass
PLAGUE, the coldest alpha and the hottest mess
VALEK, the villain who knows he can't have a happy ending
WRAITH, a monster in everyone's eyes but hers

_____

Pucking Feral is the contemporary AU retelling of the Ghost Alpha Unit series. This story is a love letter to the same pack in a totally different world with one other major change—the slow burn is inverted. In Ghost Alpha Unit, Wraith is the last to bond with Ivy. In the Ghostverse, Wraith is first.

The Pucking Unhinged duet follows Cosima and her pack from the Ghost Alpha Unit series and will release after the second part of Pucking Feral in Q1/Q2 2026.

Lenore Rosewood is an Omegaverse and Reverse Harem Romance author who watched Beauty and the Beast too young and it ruined her brain. After a lifetime of being let down by "scarred" heroes with one decorative nick on an otherwise perfect jawline, she snapped and started writing her own fics, and it all spiraled from there.

Lenore lives a hermit's life in a foggy cottage in coastal Ireland, making her partner go out on all their errands so she can hide inside and avoid her neighbors (who have theories) while writing stories for women who feel safer with the secretly-cinnamon-roll monster than without.

A Miraculous Event in Omegaverse History

I went into this book emotionally prepared for the usual: a whiny Omega, a FMC with the survival instincts of a decorative plant, and at least one MMC who despises her for absolutely no reason other than ✨plot✨.

None of that happened.

First of all, the FMC? Competent. Smart. Not allergic to common sense. She doesn’t instantly trust everyone just because they’re hot and breathing—groundbreaking. Truly.

Then the Omega situation. No constant crying. No dramatic inner monologues about how unfair life is every three pages. I had to double-check the genre because… was this allowed??

And let’s talk about the MMCs. Imagine my shock when not a single one of them hates her for sport. No random cruelty. No “I despise you but also want you” nonsense without context. They behave like actual thinking beings with motivations. I KNOW.

The cherry on top? Yes, they’re scent-matched—but no insta-love. No “we locked eyes and now I’d die for you.” Instead, there’s actual development. Tension. Growth. Feelings that show up fashionably late like they should.

In short:
✔ FMC with a brain
✔ No unnecessary angst
✔ No irrational hatred
✔ No instant soulmate nonsense

I came for entertainment and accidentally found sanity. Would recommend to anyone who’s tired of screaming “WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS” at their books. 🤯📖
Can't wait for the second book🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

I will start by saying I am a HUGE, MASSIVE fan of the Ghost Alpha Unit series by the same author. My favorite was Wraith. I loved him. I was super pleased with the three books in that series and was really sad when it ended, so when I saw that the same author had made Pucking Feral, which is a contemporary AU retelling of the Ghost Alpha Unit series, I ran to the Amazon store to hunt the book down, needing it like you would not believe.

While the book is very different from the series I first read, I really liked getting to see Ivy, Wraith, Thane, Plague, Whiskey, and Valek again. I love getting a different story with characters I had already loved from another series, but in a new setting with a new story. Did I love it as much as Feral Omega? No, but I still loved getting a new look at much loved characters.

While I am not a massive contemporary fan at all, I have to say even in this book I love Wraith. He just holds a big old place in my heart, and I do not think I will lose that.

There is a story here, but honestly it sort of leans toward hockey and other dramas, which I know a lot of people love, and of course it is a sports omegaverse and why choose. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I really enjoyed it and found that it was a nice change-up from my last few books I have read this month.

I wished there was more going on in the story, but that might be a me thing. Otherwise, I enjoyed seeing the exchanges and learning about the characters, how they have changed, and what they are now like in Pucking Feral. I loved spotting differences, and I all but read nonstop all day until the book was done.

I was so happy that I could once again be an ARC reader for Lenore Rosewood.
Let me tell you, I ate this book in record time. I loved every moment of it. First the plot. It was nothing like the original trilogy, but I could see some similarities. Normally I don't like such fast paced books, but this one will be an exception. The action was packed, timelines brisk and kept the plot fresh. The character development of every one of them was exactly like I expected it. The banter between Plague and Whiskey was spot on, I laughed so hard at the scenes. Ivy is once again a badass, and the biggest support system for Wraith.
I absolutely cheer for Ivy and Wraith to have their emotional happy end and can't wait for the second part!

🎶 “And the funny thing is I would've married you. If you'd have stuck around” 🎶

For two months, Ivy (h) has been hiding in the last place her NHL ex-fiancé would ever think to look, the home arena of the Ghosts, his team’s fiercest rivals. No one knows she’s there until Wraith, the mute, scarred power forward whispered about by fans, discovers her sick and weak in the maintenance tunnels he calls his sanctuary. Instead of turning her in, he helps her stay hidden. Now she is confined to Wraith’s loft, offered safety by the Ghosts, but trusting anyone feels impossible after the last alpha’s promises left her burned and betrayed.

🤍•.¸✿¸.•💌•.❀•THOUGHTS •❀.•💌•.¸✿¸.•🤍

[Wraith]

He points to me, then spells out, S-C-A-R-E-D and gestures like it's a question. Then points to himself again. A-L-P-H-A.

"I'm not afraid of you," I say, surprising myself when I realize it's the truth.

He was the star of the book 🥹🤍💗✨. I love him with all my heart and it hurts for all the moments he thought he was unlovable or that people he came across made him feel like a monster. From the moment he discovered Ivy, he took care of her and didn’t even interact with her. He would just leave items he knew she would need and that was enough for him. He just wanted to know she was being taken care of. He is the epitome of a total softie and a sweetheart who is entirely misunderstood and isn’t appreciated by those around him. He has years of trauma and with valid reason he is afraid of what people might think of him, but he is such a gentle person with Ivy. She made him feel seen and human again when everyone else has always instinctively jumped in fear at the sight of him 🥹🎀✨. She never pushed him to give her more than he could handle in terms of physical affection. She checked in with his boundaries and was very respectful and thoughtful with what he was willing to reciprocate. It worked both ways. They have both experienced trauma, so they understand what boundaries are needed and they are gentle and sweet with each other in a way that they live in an orbit around each other. They gravitate toward each other through pain, are connected by being scent matches, but she likes him beyond that. He was the first alpha to make her feel safe and protected when no one else did. He is so precious and he doesn’t even realize it 💌🤍🩷💗. He is not a monster and I hate anyone who made him feel like he was. I have a soft spot for him for sure. He will absolutely be a fan favorite, especially since most of the book revolves around his arc. The way it ended with Ivy seeing his face for the first time and he ran away because he didn’t wait to see her reaction, but she realized she loved him. I am crying.

[Whiskey]

"What exactly is happening here?"

"I apologize," he starts.

"Not another one!" Whiskey yells. "A fuckin' she-Wraith!"

There is always a menace of the group and that is Whiskey 😭💌. He has no filter and loves to speak what is on his mind, and typically the others have to rile him in before he does what he does best, create chaos. He has good intentions even if he doesn’t always know how to approach and react accordingly. For example, when he wanted to see Ivy, he decided it was a good idea to break into Wraith’s loft. He doesn’t think much, but he is adorable and has a lot of love in him. Another one of his favorite hobbies besides being boastful, spamming the pack group chat, and lusting over Ivy is pissing off Plague. He was more upfront about his attraction to Plague, but Plague was in more of a denial stage which made it that much more fun. It’s always a good time when he is around.

[Plague]

"This is completely unnecessary," Plague says, his voice calmer than the others despite the situation. "We can resolve this without destroying the entire pack house."

He likes to be in control, so he hates that Ivy and Whiskey both throw him for a loop. He puts aside his feelings and keeps them in check because he doesn’t really like to express vulnerability nor let people know the type of hold they have on him. This is more toward Whiskey and Plague’s dynamic. They like to argue, but it’s just filled with all the sexual tension that they are hiding behind false anger. He is someone who likes to follow a rulebook and doesn’t like when things spiral and don’t go according to plan. He feels comfortable with having direction and knowing what’s going to happen and the limits of it all, but Whiskey is the one who tests those limits beyond what he seems to control. Whiskey and Plague are perfect for one another as the epitome of opposites, an attractive and controlled MMC with a golden retriever MMC.

[Thane]

"You always did share a weird fucking bond."

"What the fuck's that supposed to mean, bro?"

“That's why Wraith was so desperate to leave. He must be taking care of her,” Thane continues, ignoring me.

He is a protector to his core about his pack, but most importantly Wraith. He has similar traits to Plague where he likes order and control and likes to know that his pack is taken care of, so he feels this immense pressure to make sure everything is fine, but it’s difficult because everything tends to be out of his control. He has had less time with Ivy so it’s hard to describe their dynamic thus far.

[Valek]

"I was told the Ghosts are a tight-knit group," I mutter, spitting blood. "But I expected at least a handshake before the beatings began."

He has had zero interaction with her, but he knows who she is and that the pack is hiding her. He has been exceptionally curious to know where they are hiding her because she is also his scent match, but the others don’t know if they can trust him yet so they treat him like a provisional pack member.

🤍•.¸✿¸.•💌•.❀•OVERALL •❀.•💌•.¸✿¸.•🤍

This definitely was a book about Wraith and Ivy and the other characters were just there. I am not mad about it. Wraith is so pure and I love him. He is the epitome of a boy who deserves more love than the world gave him. The fact that his own mother locked him up in the basement because of what he looks like is heartbreaking. I can’t wait for him to realize that Ivy would never judge him nor be afraid of him.

My heart has split wide open and tears threaten to fall for Wraith. He deserves every scrap of happiness he is given. What a beautiful, kind, gentle man Wraith is. Ivy is brave, bold, sees past the scars to the man—Wraith can hardly believe it when Ivy sees behind the mask and doesn’t run away.

‘Pucking Feral’ is so pucking good! Carrying all the elements that make a great love story—well-fleshed, relatable, likable characters, a great storyline, and action for days.

I am really torn on this one.

On one hand, I want to rate this book a 1.

This is flat out retelling of another story by the author set in a "hockey" setting because hockey is popular right now. (This being the key reason I was hesitant to read this book.) I have added it to my list and removed it so many times because i was afraid of the concept.

When i finally decided to try it, I hoped it would be like the same characters but in like a new world something like how some shows are where every episode is different but also the has the same characters so it still feels cohesive.

But instead it was like this weird case of deja vu while the author wrote a fanfiction with her own characters. I hated it. I knew more about what was happing and what was going to happen because I rather enjoyed the other series from what I remember. (I can't remember what I rated the books but Wraith got his own little spread in my reading journal because I loved him so much so they were probably at least 4 stars.)

Honestly, the feeling I got while reading this book was worse feeling then when I read a certain majorly popular book and could tell you exactly how the last part of that book would go almost word for word because I had read that exact same thing in another book by a different author. It felt really weird that the author had to copy her own work but change it to a modern Omegaverse and throw in hockey words (because this is not a hockey book just because we say they play hockey) instead of the distopian original one. And then I find out she is doing the same with the spin off series and it just leaves a bad taste.

The other series told me the author can create characters, a world, and a story so why couldn't we do that here? I didn’t read the spin off so idk how she handles a new set of characters. But even if she fell in the usual writing certain tropes for characters thing, at least they would have been new and I think that would have really elevated this book. Some of what is being presented to us fit so well in that dystopian world but clashes so bad in the modern time. Like having the guys be all murder happy in the dystopian world were it is kill or be killed makes sense because they will kill to protect her. Because people will literally do bad things to her if there was no one to protect her. It just makes sense. But is so "WTF am I reading?!" overkill in a modern world that it is not even funny.

My biggest issue with the writing was the timeline. We would have a chapter and proceed to a certain point, change povs and just backwards in time and work our way back to that point and move a bit forward. Then repeat. Also, there were things that didnt make sense. Time jumps and inconsistencies. Characters would be shocked to learn something they already knew.

But I think my knowledge of the other series is both why I kind of liked this book and why I question how well it was written. Scratch that, Wraith is why I did enjoy this book enough that I am debating on reading the second part. He is just the greatest and needs to be protected at all costs. But I think the knowledge of the other series is why I understood this book as well as I did. Things presented here that are not explained have already been presented to me and wrapped up in the other series. All that said, I am not sure how well this book will stand up to readers unfamiliar with the original source material.

What the fuck is this, bruh?

Three things I can tell you about this book. It's not a hockey romance; the main character just appears in the tunnels, and none of the characters have ever interacted before.

Let's get the easy stuff out of the way. Ivy looks like a child on the cover. She has no background and no past. She was somehow smart enough to rig up cameras with old tech, but couldn't figure out a better way to communicate with Wraith. She goes with a random man to his home, and she does not interact with any other character besides Wraith.

Why is this an ABO or RH? This should be a dark romance between Wraith and Ivy. Whiskey and Plagues' issues with eachother are minute and not real. Thane is just there, like he might be the leader, but he's literally doing nothing. Valeck is both the emo boy at the back of the class and also the boy who killed ants under a magnifying glass. Like he was a moody teenager with his nice family.

Not to mention that this is advertised as a hockey romance???? Girl bsffr. The only thing hockey-like about this is that they fight each other. Which has been unnecessary every time.

SKIP SKIP SKIP, all the others that gave it five stars didn't read it. TRUST.

This book had me interested right from the start — the overall storyline felt like it had real potential, and I was genuinely excited to see where it would go.

Lenore Rosewood does a great job with character work. I could picture each character clearly, which made it easy to stay immersed. I especially loved the dynamic between Whiskey and Plague — their energy together was a standout for me.

Wraith was another highlight. You can really feel his pain and emotions through the pages, and I found myself most emotionally connected to him. I’m also very interested in seeing where Thane’s character goes — I’m getting full Daddy vibes from him at the moment and really hope that gets explored. Valek, I’m still unsure about. He’s hard to read, which I think is intentional, but I haven’t fully connected with him yet

Where this book struggled for me was pacing. It wasn’t that it was too long or had too many side plots — it felt more like interesting storylines were introduced and then paused, which caused a stop-start feeling and made parts drag when there was room for deeper story building.

This is an open-door romance, but while I enjoyed imagining the characters together, the execution of the intimate scenes fell a bit flat for me. The spice is there, but it needs more detail and payoff.

The story became most interesting in the final quarter… and then it suddenly ended. That said, there’s a lot of potential here, and I do plan to continue the series — cautiously hopeful.

Plot: 4/5 • Spice: 3/5 ————> I feel like something’s missing from me after reading this. Like there’s a hole. This ended so abruptly, and I wasn’t ready. I just wanted more.

Ivy is on the run from her former mate. She’s hiding for two months in his rivals skating arena. She’s done pretty well until one of the players finds her. Or rather scents her. Scent match! He starts slowly. Leaving her things to make her comfortable. Then Ivy turns sick, and Wraith finally makes an appearance. Trying to help her and make her heal. He takes her to the pack house.

His pack mates scent her through the air vent. Turns out she’s all of their mates. She’s hesitant with everyone except Wraith. She remains closest to him the entire book. She does hook up with Plague and Whiskey, but they were helping her through her heat spike. And each other 😉.

This ends ABRUPTLY (😡) when Wraith and Ivy are visiting his awful mother. I don’t know why he bothers, but whatever. His masks he wears gets ripped off and she finally sees his face, and he runs. That’s it? END.

Hopefully we get more once book 2 is out. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I kept thinking 'I should DNF this' but I couldn't sleep and couldn't be bothered to figure out what to read instead.

It's just... not good? The characters are paper thin, multiple POVs where they all sound the same, the plot is all over the place, information is spoonfed and repeated, scenes are repeated from other POVs for no real reason, the omegaverse seems to just be an excuse for insta-connection and no effort into relationship building? There's no hockey, and apparently none of them ever have to actually do anything related to it?
The story starts with her hiding in this stadium basement, from her ex who is also a hockey player? Surely you go as far away from Hockey as you possibly can to avoid him? It's also never explained why she's in this other teams basement and can't go literally anywhere else? Bizarre choice.

Just weak all round, unfortunately. Would love to understand how it's so highly rated tbh.

Edit: reading reviews it's an AU of the authors other work?? Huuuh?!? That somehow makes it even worse 🙃

I’m just vaguely annoyed. The beginning with Wraith isn’t bad but the other alphas are honestly annoying the more they’re in the book. Not to mention how information gets discovered more than once ALL THE TIME. Whiskey and Plague figured out Wraith took Ivy to the pack house and then suddenly realized Ivy was in the pack house?? Also the timeline makes no sense. Days pass and then are retconned. Also there’s not been a single hockey game since Thane’s first chapter.
