Ghostverse #1

Pucking Feral: Part One

Rate this book
For two months, I've been hiding in the last place my NHL ex-fiancé would ever look.

The home arena of the Ghosts, his team's fiercest rivals.

And it's working. No one knows I'm here.

Until Wraith—the mute, scarred "monster" power forward fans whisper about—discovers me sick and weak in the maintenance tunnels that are his sanctuary.

Instead of turning me in, Wraith helps me hide. And when the team's new winger, Valek, discovers me, my feral-alpha-turned-personal-guardian-angel attacks him to protect me.

I finish the job with a fire extinguisher.

Now Valek's recovering in the Ghosts' pack house with a concussion, and I’m hiding in Wraith's loft.

The Ghosts are offering me a choice. A home. Protection from my ex without strings attached.

The problem? I don't know how to trust anymore.

Not when the last alpha's promises ended with me burning off my mark.

_____

THE GHOSTS ALPHA HOCKEY TEAM:
THANE, the team captain carrying the weight of the world
WHISKEY, alpha embodiment of pure of heart, broad of chest, dumb of ass
PLAGUE, the coldest alpha and the hottest mess
VALEK, the villain who knows he can't have a happy ending
WRAITH, a monster in everyone's eyes but hers

_____

Pucking Feral is the contemporary AU retelling of the Ghost Alpha Unit series. This story is a love letter to the same pack in a totally different world with one other major change—the slow burn is inverted. In Ghost Alpha Unit, Wraith is the last to bond with Ivy. In the Ghostverse, Wraith is first.

The Pucking Unhinged duet follows Cosima and her pack from the Ghost Alpha Unit series and will release after the second part of Pucking Feral in Q1/Q2 2026.

A Miraculous Event in Omegaverse History

I went into this book emotionally prepared for the usual: a whiny Omega, a FMC with the survival instincts of a decorative plant, and at least one MMC who despises her for absolutely no reason other than ✨plot✨.

None of that happened.

First of all, the FMC? Competent. Smart. Not allergic to common sense. She doesn’t instantly trust everyone just because they’re hot and breathing—groundbreaking. Truly.

Then the Omega situation. No constant crying. No dramatic inner monologues about how unfair life is every three pages. I had to double-check the genre because… was this allowed??

And let’s talk about the MMCs. Imagine my shock when not a single one of them hates her for sport. No random cruelty. No “I despise you but also want you” nonsense without context. They behave like actual thinking beings with motivations. I KNOW.

The cherry on top? Yes, they’re scent-matched—but no insta-love. No “we locked eyes and now I’d die for you.” Instead, there’s actual development. Tension. Growth. Feelings that show up fashionably late like they should.

In short:
✔ FMC with a brain
✔ No unnecessary angst
✔ No irrational hatred
✔ No instant soulmate nonsense

I came for entertainment and accidentally found sanity. Would recommend to anyone who’s tired of screaming “WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS” at their books. 🤯📖
Can't wait for the second book🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

I was so happy that I could once again be an ARC reader for Lenore Rosewood.
Let me tell you, I ate this book in record time. I loved every moment of it. First the plot. It was nothing like the original trilogy, but I could see some similarities. Normally I don't like such fast paced books, but this one will be an exception. The action was packed, timelines brisk and kept the plot fresh. The character development of every one of them was exactly like I expected it. The banter between Plague and Whiskey was spot on, I laughed so hard at the scenes. Ivy is once again a badass, and the biggest support system for Wraith.
I absolutely cheer for Ivy and Wraith to have their emotional happy end and can't wait for the second part!

My heart has split wide open and tears threaten to fall for Wraith. He deserves every scrap of happiness he is given. What a beautiful, kind, gentle man Wraith is. Ivy is brave, bold, sees past the scars to the man—Wraith can hardly believe it when Ivy sees behind the mask and doesn’t run away.

‘Pucking Feral’ is so pucking good! Carrying all the elements that make a great love story—well-fleshed, relatable, likable characters, a great storyline, and action for days.

I am really torn on this one.

On one hand, I want to rate this book a 1.

This is flat out retelling of another story by the author set in a "hockey" setting because hockey is popular right now. (This being the key reason I was hesitant to read this book.) I have added it to my list and removed it so many times because i was afraid of the concept.

When i finally decided to try it, I hoped it would be like the same characters but in like a new world something like how some shows are where every episode is different but also the has the same characters so it still feels cohesive.

But instead it was like this weird case of deja vu while the author wrote a fanfiction with her own characters. I hated it. I knew more about what was happing and what was going to happen because I rather enjoyed the other series from what I remember. (I can't remember what I rated the books but Wraith got his own little spread in my reading journal because I loved him so much so they were probably at least 4 stars.)

Honestly, the feeling I got while reading this book was worse feeling then when I read a certain majorly popular book and could tell you exactly how the last part of that book would go almost word for word because I had read that exact same thing in another book by a different author. It felt really weird that the author had to copy her own work but change it to a modern Omegaverse and throw in hockey words (because this is not a hockey book just because we say they play hockey) instead of the distopian original one. And then I find out she is doing the same with the spin off series and it just leaves a bad taste.

The other series told me the author can create characters, a world, and a story so why couldn't we do that here? I didn’t read the spin off so idk how she handles a new set of characters. But even if she fell in the usual writing certain tropes for characters thing, at least they would have been new and I think that would have really elevated this book. Some of what is being presented to us fit so well in that dystopian world but clashes so bad in the modern time. Like having the guys be all murder happy in the dystopian world were it is kill or be killed makes sense because they will kill to protect her. Because people will literally do bad things to her if there was no one to protect her. It just makes sense. But is so "WTF am I reading?!" overkill in a modern world that it is not even funny.

My biggest issue with the writing was the timeline. We would have a chapter and proceed to a certain point, change povs and just backwards in time and work our way back to that point and move a bit forward. Then repeat. Also, there were things that didnt make sense. Time jumps and inconsistencies. Characters would be shocked to learn something they already knew.

But I think my knowledge of the other series is both why I kind of liked this book and why I question how well it was written. Scratch that, Wraith is why I did enjoy this book enough that I am debating on reading the second part. He is just the greatest and needs to be protected at all costs. But I think the knowledge of the other series is why I understood this book as well as I did. Things presented here that are not explained have already been presented to me and wrapped up in the other series. All that said, I am not sure how well this book will stand up to readers unfamiliar with the original source material.

This book had me interested right from the start — the overall storyline felt like it had real potential, and I was genuinely excited to see where it would go.

Lenore Rosewood does a great job with character work. I could picture each character clearly, which made it easy to stay immersed. I especially loved the dynamic between Whiskey and Plague — their energy together was a standout for me.

Wraith was another highlight. You can really feel his pain and emotions through the pages, and I found myself most emotionally connected to him. I’m also very interested in seeing where Thane’s character goes — I’m getting full Daddy vibes from him at the moment and really hope that gets explored. Valek, I’m still unsure about. He’s hard to read, which I think is intentional, but I haven’t fully connected with him yet

Where this book struggled for me was pacing. It wasn’t that it was too long or had too many side plots — it felt more like interesting storylines were introduced and then paused, which caused a stop-start feeling and made parts drag when there was room for deeper story building.

This is an open-door romance, but while I enjoyed imagining the characters together, the execution of the intimate scenes fell a bit flat for me. The spice is there, but it needs more detail and payoff.

The story became most interesting in the final quarter… and then it suddenly ended. That said, there’s a lot of potential here, and I do plan to continue the series — cautiously hopeful.

I already love these characters. I feel horrible for Wraith and can’t wait to see him integrate more with the group (or at least hope he does). I’m excited to see more of the group dynamic overall. Can’t wait for book 2!

I liked this just as much as the other version of this story. She accepted the alphas pretty fast and they were instantly enamored just because shes their scent match. I just wish we got more of their backgrounds. We get a glimpse of Wraiths but not much else.

Holy freaking cow!

This was the best book I’ve read in a long time. It had me on the edge of my seat, it had me fighting a losing battle with holding my tears at bay, it had me laughing along with the characters and it broke my heart into a million pieces.

Bring on part 2!

I didn't realise this is a spinoff from the author's other series (same characters, different setting), but that probably explains some of the issues I had with it.

The setup was strong, and had a lot of potential, but then after about 2 seconds the guys brought Ivy home and then it all stalled.

There was also no effort made to really flesh out the characters and give them a bit of back story. For example, we know Ivy is running away from her alpha, but we don't know anything about her - what are her hobbies? What does she like? What are her skills? And how do those things pertain to the plot?

Another example is Whiskey and Plague. They are meant to have chemistry, but mostly they just annoy each other (and by extension, the reader). The lack of explanation for Plague's shutdown of Whiskey makes it really hard to feel sympathetic.

I also noticed a few general inconsistencies. Characters forgetting they'd been told something in a previous chapter. Information being repeated (almost like the chapters had been released as episodes). World building not quite making sense.

Also for a game about hockey players, it really doesn't seem to have much hockey.

This ended up as a DNF at 70%. Disappointing as I was enjoying it initially 😞

For two months, Ivy’s been hiding in the last place her NHL ex-fiancé would ever look.

The home arena of the Ghosts, his team's fiercest rivals.

She’s survived by becoming invisible, avoiding cameras, and living in abandoned maintenance tunnels with a stolen ID badge. And it's working. At least until she meets the one alpha who understands what it's like to hide.

Wraith—the mute, scarred "monster" power forward fans whisper about—finds Ivy sick, weak, and alone in the tunnels that are his sanctuary, too. Instead of turning her in, he brings her soup and keeps her warm.

When the team's new winger, Valek, discovers her, Wraith attacks him to protect her.

And she finish’s the job with a fire extinguisher.

Now Valek's recovering in the Ghosts' pack house with a concussion, and Ivy’s hiding from him in the freaking loft.

Oh. And she finds out she’s scent-matched to the entire pack.

Wraith, whose broken pieces fit perfectly with hers. Plague, whose icy composure feels like solid ground. Whiskey, the himbo golden retriever who reminds her how to laugh. Thane, the captain who promises sanctuary and safety. And then there’s the strange, unreadable way Valek watches her.

The Ghosts are offering Ivy a choice. A home. Protection from her ex without strings attached.

The problem? She doesn’t know how to trust anymore.

Not when the last alpha's promises ended with her burning off her own mating mark.

Pucking Feral is the contemporary AU of the Ghost Alpha Unit series and a duet. The second part of the duet will be released in Q1/Q2 2026. The Pucking Unhinged duet follows Cosima and her pack and will release after the second part of Pucking Feral.

YOU'RE MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!!! Please read and pay close attention to the trigger warnings at the beginning of this book. There is some content and scenes in this book that are not suitable for all readers and could be triggering for others. Always remember that your mental health comes first at all times.

Tropes: FMC with a Brain, No Unnecessary Angst, No Irrational Hatred, No Instant Soulmate Nonsense, Paranormal Protector Romance, Touch Her and Unalive, Insta-Love (For Some), Slow-Burn (For Others), Alternate Universe, Slow-Burn is Inverted, Cliffhanger, Abusive Ex, Medical Trauma, Parental Abuse, Neglect, MM, MMFMMM, Post-Apocalyptic, Omega Subjugation, Ideation, Flashbacks, Unfettered Alpha Banter, Combat Violence, Fears of being Disowned by family, Omegaverse, Reverse Harem, Hockey, Disabilities & Scars, Sports, Caretaking, Alpha Male, Athlete MMC, Fated Mates, Himbo, Forced Proximity, Sweet/Gentle MMC, Height Difference, Famous FMC, Shy MMC, MF Romance, Poor FMC, Found Family, Enemies-to-Lovers, Grumpy x Sunshine, Independent FMC, Possessive MMC, Grumpy/Cold MMC, Dad-Bod MMC, Contemporary, Queer Awakening, MMF, Bisexuality.

Pucking Feral is the 1st part of the Ghostverse Duet by Lenore Rosewood.

Now this was such a wonderfully different Omega book. To start, our FMC, she was actually capable. Intelligent. And she actually knew how to make use of this thing called common sense. And she isn’t one to just go around trusting someone just because they’re hot and know how to breath – honestly this was just groundbreaking. Truly.

Then we finally get to the whole Omega circumstances. Ivy isn’t one to be constantly crying, she’s not prone to these dramatic inner monologues about life being unfair every other page.

And now we come to our MMCs. I was shocked when there wasn’t a single one of them hate her for sport, there’s no random cruelty, no “I despise you but also want you” and these is no nonsense without context. The MMCs actually behave like actual grown men with actual working brains and motivations. I know, this is really a concept.

And here’s the cherry on top! They are actually scent-matched – they’re scent-matched without any of the insta-love. There’s no “we locked eyes and now I’d die for you.” Rather, we get real development in the relationship with real tension, growth, and feelings that we watch show up fashionably late or at the most inopportune times just like they should.

What I thought would be nothing more than entertainment, and instead I found my sanity. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for sanity in their Omegaverse and are sick and tired of screaming at their kindles or their books “Why are you like this?”

I am so excited for the next book. I need to get my hands on book 2 like yesterday.

Thoroughly enjoyable hockey omegaverse story! ⭐⭐⭐⭐.25 of 5 stars

I read Lenore Rosewood’s Feral Omega a while back, but I honestly couldn’t tell you much about it now. I went into this one with an open mind, and it holds up on its own and easy to fall right into. I’ve read my fair share of hockey/omegaverse books, and this one is well written with an engaging plot.

This isn’t the darker, dystopian omegaverse vibe of the original. Instead, we follow Ivy, who’s hiding from her ex‑fiancé in the hockey arena where the Ghost play. Ivy’s still the same powerhouse, reminding aggressive alphas that she will resort to "blunt-force diplomacy" starting with a fire extinguisher and escalating as needed.

Her alphas are still very much alphas, but the personalities are toned down from “serial killer energy” to more of an intense, aggressive alpha vibe.

The first third of this book focuses on Ivy and Wraith. He's still the same scarred alpha that's beloved in the original but we get to spend more time with him.

Best moment in book with Thane: "I confronted Wraith...Tried to get answers...And he nearly crushed my windpipe before telling me he was going for pho" 🤣 If that's not dedication by a enamored mmc, I don't know what love is.

Tropes:
-Human omegaverse (ABO, scent matches, bonds, heats, suppressants)
-FMMMMM (with MM later)
-Hockey
-FMC on the run
-Scarred MMC

She hides by day in tunnels and sharpens skates at night

Ivy a.k.a. Hanna is hiding from her ex-hockey player alpha. He forced his mark on her, then abused her and treated her like she was his property> She decides to hide in where his is less likely to expect. She’s hiding in the competition’s, the Ghosts hockey team’s arena in the maintenance tunnels. She sneaks around but gets caught by Wraith. He is a hockey player who hides behind a mask because of acid burns he got as a child. Wraith and Ivy are scent matches. Wraith is protecting her from everyone his team included. Her honeysuckle scent attracts the newbie Valek. He knows she’s an omega and that she is his scent match. In this universe if you scent match one member of a pack/team you are more likely to scent match the entire pack. Everyone is on edge and Ivy goes into heat. I love this story! Lenore has given life to her characters. It is a cliffhanger though. I hate cliffhangers, so I’m hoping the next book comes out really soon!

I loved this retelling of the ghost alpha unit (original series that this is based on) and I think I like this version more! I was hooked from the start and I cannot wait for part 2, I hope I’m not waiting too long! That cliffhanger 💔 wraith has my whole heart, and it was absolutely breaking for him and what he’s been through. How he cares for and looks after ivy is so sweet. Whiskey is great fun, and the chemistry and tension between him and plague is 🔥 poor thane really has his work cut out for him trying to keep control of his pack and keep everyone happy. I can’t wait to find out what’s going on with Valek and what happens with ivy’s ex, who she’s on the run and hiding from.

It does touch on some dark themes, domestic abuse, childhood trauma and injuries, mental health struggles - but these are handled very delicately and with respect and not in any great amount of detail in my opinion.

I can’t wait for more to come with book 2!

Have you ever read a book and wished that the characters were set in a different universe? Because that’s exactly what Lenore did. She took alphas and an omega from a dystopian OV and threw them into a modern-day hockey romance. It’s WILD— I know, but it’s everything I never knew I needed.

I love the Ghost Alpha Unit series. I love the feral dystopian universe that Rosewood built and the various characters and dynamics she created, but pulling them out of that world and into a totally separate universe is making the Sci-Fi time-travel nerd part of me so happy. It’s like a parallel universe and I am loving every second of it.

I’m just speechless. The banter is amazing. Some of the best I’ve read in a long while. The spice, the tension between Plague and Whiskey is top tier and the eventual burn is hot AF. I can’t get enough of all of it.

OMG the cliffhanger. I’m dead until book 2 comes out.

such a fun twist

Honestly I have never seen an author make an au for their own characters but I love it. It’s such a fun way to get a new look at characters that already own my heart. You definitely don’t need to read the original in order to enjoy this story, but I really liked being able to compare this version of the characters to originals. Wraith is the only man ever and I love that this book was so centered around him getting the love he deserves. I adore him so I cannot wait to continue the wraith centric journey!! I’d go to war for wrath and it’s heartwarming to see the pack feeling the same way even before Ivy. This does technically end on a cliffhanger but it’s not a super high stakes cliffhanger, instead it just felt like the end of the chapter. Honestly I really enjoy a fun spin on characters who made me sob over their agony. I fear the second part will break me emotionally and honestly at this point I’m happy to be ruined by them yet again.

OH MY STARS.

Lenore Rosewood. You heartless minx. How could you end this on such a devastating cliffhanger.
I did NOT ask to try to click to the next page, SOBBING, but here I am. With exactly ZERO more pages to read.

I am thoroughly devastated. Thank you.

Now as for my review:

This AU features characters from another series. I have t read it YET.

The characters are fleshed out and carry life and personality across well. You get some relationship building with most of the alphas. Not instalove but budding relationships. Mostly with Wraith. His story is front and center. And honestly, I do wish there was more of the back story for the others but if it was only this, Wraiths story and their relationship, I would be a happy camper.

He is just so precious. My heart literally aches for them and the love they’re finding.

For an Omegaverse; the spicy scenes with Ivy are sparse but satisfy the development of the bonds.
Overall very enjoyable.

I absolutely devoured this story. I have been so excited to read it and it did not disappoint! I loved getting basically a new story, but with our favorite characters and pack. I loved that the dynamic was the same, but the new story kept it fresh and interesting. I still absolutely adore Wraith, and this version of him is JUST as perfect.

The plot does move a little slow, for being a duet I feel like some plot points could have moved a little quicker, there is a lot that will need to be wrapped up in the next book fairly quickly.

I will say, the hockey aspect is very abstract and not accurate at all. There are a lot of creative liberties with the timeline and just the logistics of hockey. Some obviously cause it is an omegaverse world, but also outside of that, it's just not overly realistic so keep that in mind.

It ends on a HUGE cliffhanger so I am not salivating for part two!

HOW DARE YOU END ON THAT CLIFFHANGER??? How am I gonna survive til next SUMMER 😭

oh my god what a book to jump into blind. I know nothing about who these characters are based on, I just found this book randomly on KU and thought “that sounds good”

Good is an understatement!!

Wraith and Ivy are perfect. I am so obsessed with the big scary monster that is vicious with everyone but gentle with Her trope ❤️ it’s my absolute favorite and they did it so so well. And this is the first omegaverse book I’ve read where the alpha finds his scent match and doesn’t go stupid in the head bc of it??? I love that so much.

I enjoyed the other characters as well and I’m sure book two will focus more on them but…. Wraith and ivy ❤️🤭

EDIT:
If, like me, you needed more after that cliffhanger you should join the authors patreon!!! As of today (12-17) she currently has twelve chapters of book two up! I devoured them in an hour 🤭❤️

Oh Lenore did it again!!!

This book has some of our favorite characters returning in a parallel universe and I am so here for that! Each of the alphas and our omega will grab you and hold you hostage while you read their story.

Our Omega FMC, Ivy, is hiding in tunnels below the hockey arena of her ex-fiance's rival team. She is struggling to survive in the dark, dingy, rooms and pathways that she now calls home.

Thane, Whiskey, Plague and Wraith make up the Ghost Pack and are the heart and soul of this hockey team. And, surprise! Valek returns as their newest teammate.

This book develops these characters so well. They are the most traumatized, dysfunctional and violent pack of men. Yet, they have the hugest capacity to love. And Ivy suffers her own trauma but has the inner strength and fight of an Alpha (or two).

I need Part 2 now!!!

No spoilers here… read this book for yourself. You can thank me later!!

Okay so if you're familiar with Lenore Rosewood and her Ghost Alpha Unit series you'll be absolutely thrilled to read this book in an alternate universe where the same characters you're obsessed with will fall in love and come together again in a hockey romance this time! I can't even put into words how excited I was to once again see Ivy, Thane, Valek, Plague, Whiskey, and Wraith in a whole new world. The great news is that if you haven't read the other series you can totally enjoy this one and get to know the characters in this light.

It's a slow-burn but it's absolutely so delicious. I love Ivy and her BA attitude! She's no meek little omega, I just love her, and her alphas had me absolutely feral.

THIS IS NOT A HOCKEY ROMANCE! This is the perfect example of why A's should NOT try to combine subgenres of romance. Also...how is this even romance? It only shows a bit of relationship development, but where's the HEA or HFN since nothing really happens?
THIS IS NOT A HOCKEY ROMANCE! This is apparently a retelling of another book by this A and she says it's set in a different setting or whatever. The title and cover are misleading. Just because they're supposedly hockey players does NOT make it a hockey romance. I think this is an attempt to cash in on the current popularity of hockey romances.
So readers, it's not a hockey romance just because they're supposedly players. FYI they come across as somehow poor or average financially in most of the book...it's weird. And there's barely ANY hockey aspects.
That combined with weak omegaverse content.
Also, where is the structure? There's no real rising and falling action...no defined 3 act structure.
