G.K. De Rosa has been an avid reader from a very young age. In fact, before she could even read, she tried fooling everyone into thinking that she could. At the precocious age of two, while living in Italy, she had memorized an entire children’s book in Italian and expertly turned the pages at the exact right moments of the story. As she grew up, she always enjoyed literature, no doubt having been instilled with a love of story telling from her early years in Catholic school where she was greatly influenced by exemplary teachers who taught her the value of English and Literature. Though she did not pursue writing in college and instead went for the more traditional route of International Business inspired by her love for travel and all things foreign, after a move to New York City, she found her creative writing side calling once again. She began writing a restaurant review blog, City Lights and Tasty Bites, detailing her other passion – food! The hectic hustle and bustle of the city, combined with long commuting times gave her the opportunity to spend more time reading and rekindled a lost love. After reading countless books in many diverse genres over the two years in New York City, and returning to her home state of Florida, she felt compelled to write something for herself. She had always felt particularly drawn to Young Adult novels and having been an eternal romantic at heart, a fantasy romance was a natural choice. She currently lives in South Florida with her real life Prince Charming and their fur baby, Nico the German Shepherd.
OMG. First of all, don't read this review of if you haven't finished the second book. I repeat STOP HERE if you haven't read the second book. Second of all, take my tears for Ryder because of the way the second one ended. I'm dead. Okay... on to the review.
Ryder's absence is palpable in Darkblood Academy and Luna has a hard time picking up the pieces of her heart. All she wants to do is go after Ryder, but Cillian won't let her. Instead, he advises her to focus on her training with her new instructor and to continue growing stronger with her team so they can continue fighting the demons who are attacking the humans. Especially with the possibility of Luxora seizing any opening to get to Luna.
As time passes, Luna tries to ignore what's going on with Ryder--even though it's impossible--and focus on fighting demons. However, smells of Ryder appear when she least expects it and it throws her senses into overdrive. Without his soothing presence, Luna finds herself growing closer to Drake. The more time she spends with him, the more layers she realizes he has. At the same time, her heart still aches for Ryder.
I love how we learn more about Drake in this one. It was nice to see a different side of him. I hated that Ryder has become the bad guy, losing control to his demon, but it can't be easy for Luna and Ryder. If it was, these stories wouldn't fill me with as much emotion as they do. It's one reason I love this series so much. There isn't an instant love where they're suddenly in a relationship. Instead, they have to work for it and it keeps me as the reader on my toes. This story has stuck with me ever since I finished it and I'm SO ready for the fourth and final book. It's so sad to know this series is coming to an end, but at the same time, I can't wait to see how everything unfolds.
I received a free copy for an honest review. I loved this one! It was by far my favorite out of this series. Luna is trying to come to terms with everything and the ice prince is right there to help her heal. *swoon* I had a big smile on my face whenever I was reading a scene with just Luna and Drake. They are so good together and are becoming best friends. However, everything isn’t sunshine and unicorns in this one. That’s what I appreciated the most to be honest. I cannot wait for the next one!!!!
Luna ended her first year at Darkhen Academy on a high. She’d passed all her classes, was joining her roommate and half sister at Draeko for Winter break, and admitted she and Ryder were meant for each other. But after the best night of her life, Luna woke up in a cold bed with Ryder gone with a trail of soulless supernatural bodies in his wake. Did his and Luna’s night set off the Demon in him he’d been so desperate to control?
With Ryder lost to her, Luna is broken and faces returning to Darkhen without him, just as they had found each other.
Luna now not only has to learn to deal with LAF (Life After Ryder), but Dark Lord Luxora still wants Luna for herself. Luna, you see, is the first female half Warlock ever, and was prophesied to take down Luxora’s reign.
The books in this series just keep getting better! With Ryder out of the picture, Luna and Drake begin growing their relationship, and the Winter Prince just brings out all kinds of feels for her. And of course, even more crossover characters from Hitched join us!
Wow what a ride! I loved this book but I wished there was more content. It was too quick of a read. Anyways I am kinda torn between Ryder and Drake. I loved Ryder in the other books and in hitched but Drake has been better for Luna! He isn’t as come and go and didn’t tell her to stay away. I really hope the next book doesn’t become cliche where Ryder decides to come back and fight for her affection because he realized he couldn’t live without her. Drake has been what she needed when she needed it and wasn’t the instant cliche attraction. I hope we get more development on the ice prince in the next book!

Another fun-filled adventure for Luna and the gang. The love triangle is in full swing, and I honestly can’t decide which love interest I like most. Great continuation of the series, but now I need book 4!!!
This is my favorite book in the series. Reading it, I felt relaxed, as if things were happening the way they were supposed to happen. Tbh, from book 1, I never really understood the romance brewing between Ryder and Luna. For me, it was just mere infatuation. And since many scenes were omitted that could've helped the reader understand the bond between them I would not likely say that i deliberately hated them together. I tried to let their ship sail in my mind but it never really worked though reading about them was cool.
The thing that's going on between Luna and Drake seems natural and fun. Though I have a small feeling that author would let this ship sail but a large part of me knows that it won't happen.
#TangledLoveLifeOfLuna
But this is actually what the story is all about. We are never really made aware what is happening in the background. Nothing notable about the training sessions and the school life. I actually hoped to see the friendship of the group but never really got to. I sincerely hope author would consider adding more details about the surroundings in any of the upcoming books.
Apart from that, the fight between the eight and Luxora was pretty fast paced. The book itself is indeed very fast paced. You'll realise months have passed in a few pages. When Cinder told Luna that it's been 6 months since her and Ryder's breakup, I was like "'holy crap! It hasn't been a week"". And ofc i was wrong.
The declaration of Luna's power was pretty decent but could've been made more badass. I do wanted a display for Luna's power apart from that in the battles.

3 & 1/2 stars generously rounded up. A new reader needs to start with book 1, as book 3 jumps in where book 2 left off, and new readers will not be able to follow, this is not a stand-alone series. This book has a very slow flow, that was really hard to stay interested in it. I thought of quitting the book several times, it was so boring. The overall mood of this book is very heavy, with Luna being so depressed over the Ryder situation, that it was almost more than I could stand. Too much angst, like in a high school or Y/A book. I had to take breaks & find other things to do than keep reading. I kept pushing myself to finish though since I was invested with reading the first 2 books, and the last 1/4 of this book improved enough to finish it. I think the series has lost it's steam. The first book was way better. I may or may not read the final book in the series after this book.
Action Packed But A Bit Predictable!!💔💥🔥😍 (Read using Kindle Unlimited) Demons (Darkblood Academy #3)
With Ryder's Demon taking him over & stealing souls, Luna is desperate to help find him to try to bring him back. She isn't initially aware of how far he's fallen.😲😢 The Super Slayer Squad are then informed of they see him it's a capture or kill order, she's devastated!💔
The Dark Lord is still after Luna & she strikes at the heart of them - not everyone will survive!!😭😡😭 This is an emotional draining semester for Luna. She relies on Drake quite a lot. A new Angel is added to the staff 🙏🌟 There is a huge betrayal but I think we've all known it was coming!😉💥 Roll on 1st December for the final book in this series so we get all of our answers & plots tied up!!🙏🎉👑💘
Holy mother this book was totally hot luna is still reeling as Ryder as succumb to his demon side and left many bodies in his trail. Luxora is set on getting Luna because of some prophecy and learning of her warlock side is set on releasing her demon side. Mean while drake and his letting his icey feelings out and is slowly falling for luna does she feel the same, who knows with all this going on around her heads a mess. Aboustly loved this book it was full of action and suspense cant wait to see what happens next
Another amazing book from G.K. DeRosa! This author has some of the best world-building skills I've ever read. Luna's journey in this one has her dealing with the heartbreak of lost love, yet seeing sparks with someone else and dealing with the mixed emotions that come with that type of situation. All the while, she has to watch her back because an evil high demon is after her, attacking at every opportunity. The ending left me gasping for more, and I can't wait for book 4!! So good. Loved it. Really.
I love this story of Luna and the supe squad. In this book Luna goes through lots of ups and downs regarding Ryder, which leave her wanting to hide away. But with everything else that's goes on including her trip to see the fae king she manages to grow into her powers more and learn how to control them better, with the help of Drake. In this book you get to see Drake's protective side over Luna come out with some crazy outcomes. Can't say much more or it will give the book away so just grab your copy asap
This was my favorite book in the series so far! I think it was because Luna spent a lot less time mooning over Ryder, even though there was still a lot of internal struggle about her love life. I really like the development between her and Drake, and I wish that would continue although I have a feeling it won’t last. There was a lot of action in this book, and I’m not surprised by the end but I’m excited to see how the series will be completed. And then I’ll be moving on to reading Royally Hitched!
Luna and the team search for Ryder and try to take down Luxora in this third installment of the series. I love the growing relationship between her and Drake and can't wait to see where i goes. Luna is growing more and more into her powers and is becoming a true force to reckoned with. This is a fantastic series. It draws you in and refuses to let you go. A true to must read. I volunteered to read this book.
Ryder has succumbed to his demon which leaves Luna trying to piece together what's left of her heart and encourages the decision to take the battle to Luxora.
There's more ice prince and a short excursion to the Winter Palace and King Elrian (a couple of chapters I would've liked to of seen more of).
This third instalment is every bit as awesome and addictive as the previous two! A highly emotional rollercoaster ride filled with action & battles with Luxora and the demons & I love Luna and really really feel for her over Ryder! Still she is full of sarcasm and snark and makes an awesome kick ass heroine . Throw in more twists and turns and you will be left wanting no needing book 4!
I literally can't wait to read more! This book kept me hooked the whole time. I enjoy the mix of characters and their romances! It has more and more sexy scenes which I absolutely love. I can't wait for more to come especially with how this one ended!
I've already shipped the perfect rehash so and unless this turns into a why choose I will accept nothing else.. especially not some fae who is engaged.. ugh.. I need Ryder.
What a rollercoaster ride this was! Glad I read it, but omg I’m kinda rooting for Drake & Luna after all the angst & BS that Ryder put her/them through, but who knows baddie demon guy redeeming arc could happen in the last book lol!!!!
Irgendwas bringt mich dazu weiterzulesen, obwohl ich die Übersetzung nicht so gut finde und die Geschichte nur mittelmäßig ist.. Ich bleib trotzdem dran 😅
Overall a really good series with lots of action. Looking foward to how the author finishes the series. The FMC is extremely mopy about a male protagonist that never treated her right and it's frustrating to see her not give someone who has been there since the beginning a real shot. #teamdrake
Demons is the third installment in the Darkblood Academy series and picks up right where the events of the second book left off. You should read the prior books before picking up this one as I don't think it works well as a stand alone. The supe slayer squad is picking up the pieces after the devastating series of events in the prior book that left them without their fearless leader, Ryder. Luna is dealing with this a bit harder than most considering her closer relationship with Ryder. She continues training with Drake and harnessing her powers as the first known female warlock. Ryder is always in the back of her mind and she never stops believing he will overcome his inner demons and come back. Can the team reunite and defeat Luxora for good? Ms. DeRosa really started to pull in other parts of her envisioned layered supernatural world in this book. Readers are taken to the land of the dragon shifters, kingdom of the fae, and the Underworld. It lays a good foundation for future installments in the series. Luna continues to grow as a character. Her and Drake start to test the relationship boundary waters, so even though Ryder is out of the picture, readers still get a hint of some kind of romance. Definitely interested to see what happens next.
Leaders, Fighters, lovers and fates entwined. A Dark lord of the underworld out for blood of one particular foreseen defeater. Luna is coming into more of her magic with the help of her father and a certain Ice Prince who she now starts to see another side to. Battles and lives of the students of Darkblood Academy are hanging in the balance. This series just keeps offering more and more gripping drama, it may be fantasy but everything feels so real in a world of blood and ice. Once I fall into its pages I struggle to resurface. The love story is amazing, This author must have so much light to be able to write love and create the emotions in me, it is both heartbreaking and beautiful. It could be set anywhere in any genre and still have the same effect, words can be written, feelings and emotions only felt. All this amongst an inventive and creative storyline keeps me coming back and craving more of this series.
❤️🙌🌟This series keeps getting better and better. I couldn’t put this book down. And I’m in love ❤️❤️❤️❤️ with all the characters... they compliment each other ... She writes with so much passion and so vivid, that it feels like you are a part of their world..... ❤️🙃 can’t wait to see what happens next.
It’s so exciting to see a few relationships forming , this book made me cry, laugh, scream 😱 at some of the underworld people, especially Luxora and her minions.
I definitely recommend this book this series.... I’m going to start reading the next book it’s already 3 :40 am.... guess I will not get any sleep soon, lol 😂 - Darkblood Academy: Book Four: Prophecies
I love seeing Luna grow into her powers and get more assertive. I also love that we get to know a bit more about Drake. Not everything is predictable, but I sometimes get annoyed with Luna. Mostly when she's acting like the teenager she is, when her emotions get the most of her... That is rather predictable and I can't help that I want to slap her on the head once in a while! This is often a part of YA novels though, so I can't really blame the author for this, and the rest of the book is really good! When's the next one?!
I received an ARC from the author and have promised to give an honest review.
Guys....I made a mistake. I read the entirety of Hitched and now all 3 of these books in 2 days. I'm obsessed. My boyfriend is concerned for my sanity. Emotions are high people. I will say that at the beginning of book 1 I was concerned. I thought the Ryder this was a little weird, considering her sister had been half in love with him before. But now...now I'm invested. If they don't end up together I will revolt. Sure, the other one (unnamed cuz spoilers) is cool. Originally I expected them to get together. But now? Ryder is love. Ryder is life. He took my sanity and if they aren't together I don't think I will ever get it back. That is all :p
Can I just say I am loving this series! I can’t wait to read the next book and find out what KJ’s visions are, and what’s going to happen with Luxora. Also, team Drake. I know it won’t happen that way, and that now with Ryder back, he will make Drake look like a “boy.” And I will hate reading in the 4th book how their friendship crumbles. I loved the chemistry from them that began at the start. I’ve always rooted for them. Books should let girls get over breakups and move on and end up with the a man that is everything. Not to take away from the great storytelling from this book though, and I would recommend this book.
Amazing! While her love life is up in the air, Luna and the squad are more focused than ever on trying to stop Luxora and her evil demon minions. Things are complicated by new instructors, a search and rescue for Ryder and cameos by the fae winter king and Lucifer himself. And when they finally think they have things under control a prison break sets them back to square one. Fantastic installment cannot wait to see how it all comes together in the final book!
