In a town where magic is feared as much as it is sought after, Carrie Moonshadow treads a delicate line. Some call her a witch, others whisper warnings behind closed doors—yet when grief-stricken parents plead for her help, she can’t refuse.
Summoning their lost son’s spirit should have brought closure. Instead, it unearths secrets that were meant to stay buried.
As restless spirits stir and the town turns against her, Carrie must rely on Finn, her ever-loyal (and opinionated) gnome companion, and Sheriff Caleb Thorne, a man who should stay out of her business but can’t seem to. As the mayor plots to use her magic for his own gain, Carrie faces a dangerous fight for the truth or disappear into the shadows.
But when a sinister warning is left behind by something much older—and much darker—than a grieving spirit, she realizes this is only the beginning.

Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
The magic seems to be getting darker with the introduction of a dark grimoire and bonding a demon. Carrie also seems to be battling some darker impulses. The ending may be related to that also. There are quite a few scenes that just didn't feel finished. Information seemed to be just outside the discussions. Carrie and Caleb's relationship swung from hot to cold and back again. From tattoos, to covens, to leviathans and dead bodies, to seances. Action and info but something just seemed to be either missing or withheld. Always an evil politician in the mix too. I'll continue with the series but not certain about what's coming next.
unexpected curve in this series about a country witch
Didn’t expect Carrie to do a seance, but the things leading up to it are mind blowers. Don’t want to give away any spoilers so I’ll just say that this is completely different from the other books in the series. I love how varied the magic is in each book. You’re going to love this one!
