Supernatural Suckers #2

The World's Wimpiest Vampire

Rate this book
The world’s wimpiest vampire meets the hunter who cannot believe this is their target.

Charlie never asked to be turned into a vampire. In fact, the whole thing was a drunken mistake. One minute, he was minding his own business, the next, some idiot vampire bit him on a dare—and then immediately regretted it and abandoned him.

Now Charlie is very bad at being undead. He faints at the sight of blood, refuses to bite people, and spends his nights trying to survive on beet juice, cherry Kool-Aid, and sheer denial. The vampire world wants nothing to do with him, and honestly? He gets it.

Simon is a seasoned vampire hunter. Ruthless, efficient, and completely dedicated to the cause, he’s spent years taking down deadly creatures of the night. When he finally tracks down Charlie Dracul, he expects a monster.

Instead, he finds a sleep-deprived disaster with ketchup on his hoodie who nearly passes out when he pulls out a stake.

Simon should end this embarrassment of a vampire immediately. But it feels unsporting. And, worse, the longer he watches Charlie bumble his way through undead existence, the harder it is to look away.

Killing monsters is easy. Figuring out what to do with a vampire who sucks at being a vampire?

That’s another problem entirely.

It's been a while since I read a book like this one and I quite enjoyed it overall.

When I started reading it, I didn't want to put it down. It was fun and intriguing and Charlie is the cutest.

However, I started losing interest a bit in the second half and towards the end. The way the events in that part of the story were described felt too juvenile and far-fetched for my liking.

This book was an absolute blast! Awesome read! From start to finish it’s engaging, never a dull moment. It’s fast paced, the dialogue is very well balanced. Charlie the whimpiest vampire is not only cute, he is adorable and should be protected at all costs. Something the vampire hunter Simon reluctantly accepts. These two melted my heart, this is slow burn, nothing happens between them till 50% but it didn’t bother me, since it’s more plot heavy. It was very funny and entertaining book, absolutely recommend! Also can’t wait for the next

Book 2 in the series. A 3.5 rather than a 4.

This one was not quite as cute as the first one - it was darker, higher stakes, more death.

In the end, I did end up forgiving Simon after finding out that he'd been
I feel like the last 35% of the book came too fast and there were some small inconsistencies. There was a lot to tie up and bring together and resolve. It worked, for the most part, but because it involved a lot more characters, it just couldn't be as clean and clear as the first one.

Noah remains a fave.

Looking forward to book 3 in May.

This was stupid cute! Loved it more than the first book tbh. Charlie and Simon were two characters I instantly fell in love with. Lighter on the spice but heavy on the story. I really enjoyed it!

Simon's story was so good. We got a fully developed backstory with "The Organization" and I REALLY got into my feels as Simon tested Charlie later in the book.

Charlie is a sweet angel, a clumsy little dude who just wants to live his life. He deserves sunshine.

Well, I loved the hell out of this. I really loved the first book, and as soon as the last chapter teased this one, I knew it was gonna be a winner. The concept of this series (Noah matchmaking?) is so funny but it’s the characters that make you fall in love. Charlie is an absolute disaster of a vampire: faints at the sight of blood and is clumsy as anything. Simon is the hunter tasked with taking him down. But my goodness does it take a turn when you find out what’s going on behind the scenes. The romance is cute but sexy as hell (Simon’s dominance, hello!) and the intrigue around what’s going on will keep you hooked all the way to the end.

Thank you Booksprout for the ARC. This review is honest and voluntary.

Oh my sweet little Charlie. What a rough go he’s had of it. He was turned into a vampire three weeks previously, as a drunken joke, and then left to fend for himself. Poor guy faints at the site of blood, so to be a vampire is the worst thing possible. Simon is a vampire hunter sent to kill Charlie under the assumption he’s been on a violent streak. Simon soon learns Charlie is not the least bit violent or even capable of feeding himself blood.

I loved Charlie so much, the description of how he escaped from Simon the first time by being so freaked out he used his super speed. Rather than skillfully run away, he bounced around the room off of walls and knocked things over. That cracked me up. I was so happy when Simon’s protective instincts came out in regards to Charlie and he felt the need to take care of him. Their attraction to one another was so cute.

There is an underlying sinister plot going on with the company Simon works for, and things take a dangerous turn. I don’t want to give anything away, but the animal Charlie is able to turn into is hilarious and fits him perfectly. This book was cute and had a great story as well. I look forward to the next one that takes place in the same universe.

Charlie is a newly made Vampire who is struggling to come to terms and faints at the sight of blood.
Simon is a hunter and he gets word of a dangerous vampire and sets out to execute him. However he finds Charlie, the wimpiest vampire ever.
Simon instead of killing Charlie, takes on educating him and turning him into a non wimpy vampire.
Great series and the next one looks like a hoot.

5 ⭐️ I absolutely adored this book!! Great plot, fast paced, lots of twists and turns. (But low in the romance department)

Though personally I needed a break from zero-plot-romances so this was the perfect palette cleanser!

Reposting under the ebook, tried to switch to this edition and failed, so...here we go again!

This book was utterly delightful!

Silly, fun, hilarious, charming, infused with danger and gentle romance. Stronger than book 1 in this the loosely connected series, with continuing character Noah showing up. IYKYK, and if you don’t, you’ll find out, no problem. There is no confusion and this can be read as a stand-alone. But this silly world the author has created is a delightful place to be for a few hours, and if you like this one, try the first too!

Charlie was turned into a vampire as a joke, and he’s a disaster as a vampire. Simon is an intensely trained hunter sent to kill him. But Charlie is nothing like any vampire Simon has ever encountered, and soon the cracks in everything he’s been taught start to show…

These two are perfect for each other and delivered such an entertaining read. I was riveted from the start. Charlie eating ketchup and syrup instead of blood. Simon constantly thinking he’s going to kill him but instead being confounded by the next confusing thing Charlie does and helping him instead. And the push-pull of Simon having to report to the Organization that made him what he is and try to explain why Charlie is still walking around in the night? Classic.

The romance is very sweet, and the steamy times come later in the book, but the pace felt right for them, and their emotional connection developed organically, first due to the physical changes their interactions instigate, and second from the subtle emotions (well, Simon’s are subtle; Charlie is pure chaos all the way) that grow all along. World-building happens as you go, but no elements felt contrived or out of nowhere, just revelation after revelation coming where it naturally would. Well done! And if things stretch credibility here and there, I was so engaged I was happy to suspend disbelief and go along with it.

There’s a shifter element I had to suspend disbelief about (especially since no one else engages in it…if it’s a Thing, why not?) that was extra hilarious, and a growing group of found family that comes late but promises a grand support structure and fabulous future for our dynamic duo. I could nitpick details but I’m not going to because the story was too much fun and I didn’t need it to make perfect sense.

The sweetness of Simon caring for Charlie a few times when he wasn’t supposed to but couldn’t help himself warmed my heart.

Secondary characters added depth and fun (and conflict!) to the read, and I’d love to see more stories in this world.

HEA, newly made disaster-vampire and vampire hunter, falling for your target, suspense and danger but also warm lovely found family. No OM action or drama at all, totally safe for me. Highly recommended.

My thanks to Booksprout and the author for the ARC; this is my free and impartial opinion.

The World's Wimpiest Vampire
Silvana Falcon

5/5 stars

If you liked "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (especially Season 4 - trust me on this), you'll like - or maybe even love! - this genuinely suspenseful paranormal m/m novel that begins as a slapstick comedy about an inept reluctant vampire and the exasperated hunter who can't bring himself to stake someone so pathetic, but then turns halfway through into an, er, pulse-pounding thriller that will make you ignore your phone and an m/m vamp/slayer romance for the 2020s. Silvana Falcon blends genres beautifully here, grabbing beats and tropes with both hands and throwing them into her narrative blender with inspired abandon.

Simon is your classic vampire hunter, his indefatigable deadly efficiency forged in personal trauma. When he's sent by the shadowy organization that trained him to dispose of a feared vampire named Charlie Dracul, he is confused by the staggering clumsiness of the real Charlie, a sweet-tempered convenience store clerk (night shift, of course) trying to subsist on ketchup packets rather than drink blood. As is the way of such stories, many things (and people) are not as they first appear and one mystery leads to another. The romance between Simon and Charlie is definitely of the slow-burning variety (understandably so, given that Falcon keeps them busy coping with plot twists), but when they do finally arrive at the very spicy indeed consummation of their passion in Chapter 28, it's well-earned. At the same time, throughout the story the author leavens even the climactic scenes with comedy, including one running joke that I'm convinced owes more than a little to a certain Monty Python film. The supporting characters are well-done, from Simon's shadowy superiors to the members of Charlie's vampire support group to the mysterious Noah, a librarian (what else?!) who nudges the characters in the right directions.

"The World's Wimpiest Vampire" is at the same time a paranormal comedy, a high-stakes thriller (sorry, had to use that one), and the best kind of romance: one in which love makes both the main characters become more than they are and do things they would not have thought themselves capable of for the other's sake.

In case you didn't already figure this out, I really liked - or maybe even loved! - this novel. And if the author does give us the sequel that she lays the groundwork for, The Further Adventures of Simon & Charlie & Friends, I'll preorder it in ... a heartbeat.

With thanks to the author/publisher for access to a digital ARC on Booksprout. All opinions are very definitely my own.

My Favorite Vampire! Fabulous Story & Narration🎧

The World's Wimpiest Vampire
Supernatural Suckers, Book 2
By: Silvana Falcon
Narrated by: John Solo

It is great to be back in Silvana Falcon’s “Supernatural Suckers” world again for another fabulous novel, an entertaining paranormal fantasy romantic comedy that has lots of heart and humor. Falcon has outdone herself once again, creating an imaginative story that is original and cleverly plotted, one that grabs your attention and holds it captive the entire time. I mean, really, a vampire who fails at being a vampire, one who faints at the sight of blood and one who is an adorable mess — yeah, that is Charlie, the one who is terrible at being undead and the one you can not help but fall in love with. Then there is Simon, the best of the best vampire hunters, and Charlie Dracul is his next target, because of the report his agency has received about him. When he gets eyes on Charlie, he is nothing like the reports state, and something is not adding up, but then again, vampires are fantastic actors and deceivers. Watching Charlie deal with his new vampire state was hysterical, and his bestie, Brent, added to that, and then there is Simon, and all the drama he brings, and humor too. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all plays out, with the perfect balance of drama, witty dialogue and humor, heartfelt emotions and slow burn, but so worth the wait romance. The world building, character growth and development are fantastic and besides the amazing lead characters there are some fabulous side/secondary characters, too, all adding to the depth of the story. Silvana Falcon, thank you for the “World’s Wimpiest Vampire”, I loved him, his wonderful story and the wild and fun ride!

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous audiobook production and listen, performed by John Solo, who was incredible with voicing the characters and bringing them to life. His talent and versatility as a voice artist truly shine with his portrayal of these characters, embodying them completely, giving their own distinct voice, a voice that fits their personality perfectly. I love how he owns each role, sounding believable and just as I imagine the character to sound. He handles the wit and back-and-forth dialogue naturally, lands the humor effortlessly and never misses a beat. John Solo is an entertaining storyteller, and his captivating performance keeps his listeners glued to the story.

Here's Silvana Falcon's "The World's Wimpiest Vampire." It's the second book in her Supernatural Suckers series.

I knew this book would be crack, based solely off the first book. But I understand estimated just how…Charlie Charlie would be. Adorable as hell, but clumsy and klutzy and anxious and a hot fucking mess, the largest of hot messes. Good thing Simon showed up when he did.

Or not, considering…everything that Simon is and does and believes in.

I didn’t realize how much of a slow burn this was as I was reading it. It felt smooth and…not torturous. We were given so many lovely hints and hits of romance and fluff that it didn’t feel like we had no hope for a future HEA.

Epilogue: I’d like the next book now please. Thank you.

Trigger Warnings: violence, stalking, murder, attempted murder, brain washing, and more.

Brent was such a freaking bro, I wanted him to be an MC.

Man, I felt so bad for Charlie. His life really did suck. It made Simon showing him mercy feel bittersweet because it was nice that he caught a break, but it also just emphasized how shitty his situation was.

Simon going easy on Charlie felt natural thankfully. He wasn't characterized as so anti-vampire that he was willing to KoS Charlie. I liked that we got some justification for him doubting the organization to not kill Charlie immediately.

I liked the story up until Simon kissed Charlie. Everything was written well to show that Simon was clearly trying to fight against his programming and take care of Charlie. I loved seeing that but it didn't really come across as romantic, it was just protective a lá protecting an innocent person or a young child. That, plus the lack of attraction shown from Simon's POV made the kiss feel like it came out of nowhere. Also, I needed him to apologize more for because that was heinous. It honestly made me a little sick seeing that scene followed by a kiss because it just made Charlie look like he was showing affection to stop the abuse.

wasn't really fun. I'd have liked it better if divine intervention wasn't a thing, but I suppose that sort of comes with the supernatural genre. Him also being the end-all "I have contacts that can get deal with the aftermath was pretty boring. If he had that much power, then why let things go on for so long? I know it's "the mystery of the divine" BS but that doesn't make the conclusion any less contrived.

TL;DR: Romance was kind of lacking tbh. You could've ripped out the sex and kissing scenes (yes, even that last one) and told me that Charlie and Simon were just best friends and the story would've been fine, which honestly tells you about how unintegral the romance was. Also, everything from when shows up felt very juvenile and too easy (an intentional choice from the author, but one that I'm not a fan of). Everything else was pretty good. Decent emotion, good characterization, actual stakes. 3.5 stars rounded down though because the romance needed more oomph.

Charlie & Simon

"I'm a vampire with a prey animal form who just sprouted a tail because someone kissed me. I'm like the universe's idea of a joke."

This story is both what I expected and absolutely not what I expected. The blurb makes the story sound sweet and silly and comedic and there are plenty of those moments. But after the turning point of the book, things go a bit crazy and I have been on the edge of my seat. Since that time, I have no idea what to expect from the ending and it is certainly not 100% predictable like some stories, but that's not a bad thing.

The story was incredibly engaging and surprisingly entertaining. I believe this is the first book I've read from Silvana falcon, so I've had several of her stories on my TBR for a while. I know I have the first book in this supernatural suckers series to read, but I'm kind of curious to see how the series will continue and how much Noah plays a part in it.
It's always entertaining to experience a new author and the way they write their stories because the environment is what really stands out to me as the initial focal point and the environment that Charlie and Simon are part of in this story is so detailed and visual and it really makes it feel like you're there with the characters no matter what they're doing. It's an important side character for authors too consider and I loved the way that it was presented in this book.
The worlds wimpiest vampire was a low angst plot driven paranormal action romance although the romantic side of things is very slow burn. But I had a lot of fun learning about these characters and watching them develop their complex feelings. They were quite a few little twists and turns in the story, but it kept me fully engaged and on the edge of my seat. It's a great read, especially if you enjoy some infused humor with your paranormal complexities.

In a completely random unrelated note, I enjoyed finding out that Charlie's fantasy novel collection contains a story. I've not heard many people know of called the name of the wind. It's a pretty niche novel, although it does have a following, but it was kind of surprising to see it, especially by name as one of the books on his shelf. Just random commentary there.

I received an authorized copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

I listened to the audiobook.

After DNF’ing the first book in this series, I went into this audiobook with very low expectations—so ending up loving it genuinely surprised me. This was such a fun and wildly entertaining listen. From start to finish, it stayed engaging, fast-paced, and never dragged. There truly wasn’t a dull moment.

The overall vibe was a great mix of silly, hilarious, and charming, with just enough danger mixed in to keep things interesting. The dialogue flowed really well and kept the story moving without ever feeling forced. It felt light and fun, while still knowing exactly when to lean into the chaos and when to raise the stakes.

The romance was sweet, playful, and definitely sexy. I really appreciated the pacing—nothing felt rushed. The emotional connection built naturally through their interactions before things heated up later in the book, and when the steamy moments finally arrived, they felt earned rather than thrown in for shock value.

What really made this audiobook work for me was the dynamic between the leads. Their contrast created constant tension and humor, and watching their relationship evolve was genuinely entertaining. On top of that, the intrigue around what was going on kept me hooked all the way through.

Overall, The World’s Wimpiest Vampire was a delightful surprise. It was fast, funny, romantic, and ridiculously easy to enjoy. An absolute blast of an audiobook—and far better than I ever expected.

It's surprising how hard it is to be the wimpiest vampire in the world but somehow Charlie has managed it, it might help that being a vampire is apparently not the only thing he struggles with. In his favour is the fact being turned wasn't his choice and he's had no one to guide him.

Simon is Charlie's opposite. For one he's not undead. Then there is the small fact that he is a vampire hunter and a seasoned one at that. He is sent to end Charlie Dracul and is led to believe he will find a monster. What he finds is Charlie struggling at the laundromat, ketchup stains on his hoodie and almost passing out at the sight of Simon's stake. So not the ruthless bloodsucker he was expecting.

By this point, which is only a matter of a few pages into the story, I was already in fits of laughter and that only continued with the telling of this wonderful tale. Silvana Falcon has a talent for humorous writing, short sentences which pack a punch and plenty of laughs, keeping the story moving at a great pace. She also allows plenty of time for us to get to know these characters, for the past and present aspects of the story to blend and move forward at just the right pace. Find yourself a copy and find out what Simon does with Charlie, after all how can he kill a vampire who is so completely not a monster that it's almost embarrassing for them both...

God, reviewing this book is hard. The first half is EXCELLENT, I was so ready for it to be my favorite book of the year, I wanted to rec it to a friend of mine when I was at 33% because of how good it was. It was funny, it was sweet, the book discussed important topics.

But the second half is just a mess. It's just too fast. The characters are on some kind of huge mission, which completely upheavals their lives, but it only takes like 3 days? I hate this kind of stuff because it feels forced, no one changes their world views that much or plans and executes such big actions in such a short time span. The main couple was also a bit too in love for two people who had known each other for like 3 days (specially considering Simon loathes vampires and has to change his world views). Furthermore, there were even a few plot inconsistencies. If this had been a longer book or a saga, the author would've been able to delve into that and really flesh out their quest and relationship. But as it was, it fell flat. And to top it all off, there's a ~mysterious~ character who seems to know everything and who's just too convenient, which really makes the stakes lower.

Slight edit: at least to me Goodreads is saying my review is of an advanced copy I got from the author. It wasn't, I read it on Kindle Unlimited.

The World’s Wimpiest Vampire is an absolute delight. Silvana Falcon takes a premise that could’ve been pure slapstick—a vampire who faints at the sight of blood—and turns it into a warm, funny, surprisingly tender story. Charlie is the kind of character you can’t help rooting for: anxious, awkward, and trying his best despite being spectacularly bad at being undead. His attempts to survive on beet juice and denial alone had me laughing out loud. Then there’s Simon, the no‑nonsense vampire hunter who expects a terrifying monster and instead finds a sleep‑deprived mess with ketchup on his hoodie. Their dynamic is fantastic. The banter is sharp, the chemistry is undeniable, and watching Simon’s tough exterior crack is one of the book’s biggest joys. Falcon balances humor with real emotional depth, exploring identity, belonging, and what it means to redefine yourself when life (or unlife) goes off the rails. The pacing is tight, the dialogue sparkles, and the romance is sweet without ever losing its comedic edge. If you love paranormal rom‑coms with lovable disasters, reluctant protectors, and a supernatural world that doesn’t take itself too seriously, this book is a must‑read.

The World’s Wimpiest Vampire by Silvana Falcon is a delightfully offbeat paranormal romcom. Charlie, a vampire by accident, is hilariously bad at being undead—fainting at blood, surviving on beet juice and Kool‑Aid, and bumbling through life in denial. Enter Simon, a ruthless vampire hunter who expects a monster but finds a sleep‑deprived disaster in a ketchup‑stained hoodie.

This story balances humor with heart, turning the classic hunter‑vs‑vampire trope into a quirky romance. The banter sparkles, the premise is fresh, and Charlie’s awkward charm makes him impossible not to root for. Best of all, it stands alone—you don’t need book one to enjoy it.

Verdict: A cozy, funny LGBTQ+ paranormal romance that flips vampire tropes on their head. Perfect if you like romcoms with bite (but not too much blood).

No spoilers ahead, as this book is TOO GOOD to spoil anything, so this may seem vague, but this story is one of the author's best. I love all the characters, especially Charlie and Brent, and Viktor's pretty fun, too. Simon is also lovable, but the poor guy's whole world is turned upside down by Charlie and what he brings to light. I was laughing SO HARD through so many scenes, even the intense, heart-pounding action scenes (you'll see!) - don't know how she/Silvana balances intense and hysterical so well, but she NAILED IT in this story! There were tears, there was laughter, nail-biting scenes, and of course, there was a bit of spice thrown in. Bottom line; I absolutely LOVED this book, I've read through it at least twice, already, and the lead-in to the next Supernatural Suckers book has me eager to see what happens in it, too! So much heart, humor, sweetness, scariness, and all the good stuff within these pages - ENJOY!

Simon is a very put together, very experienced vampire hunter who is mentally prepared to put an end to an ancient vampire known as Charlie Dracul, who he believes has been terrorizing the city. He does NOT expect to encounter a ball of chaotic energy with no control over his powers who is only 3 weeks old and has been existing on ketchup packets. He quickly realizes he was given faulty intel about Charlie’s alleged crimes, but why??
What a fun, cute, suspenseful ride! I read this as a standalone and didn’t feel like I was missing anything. Was it a bit predictable? Yes. Did I care? Not at all. You can’t help but love the disaster that is Charlie and neither could Simon. He caused Simon to question his entire belief system about the nature of vampires, good vs. evil, nature vs. nurture, and predator vs. prey. Had he become the monster in his quest to avenge his mother’s death?

I don’t know what it is about this series, but I absolutely adore it. The comedy. The romance. The plot. It flows together so perfectly and it’s the perfect amount of each. Simon and Charlie were so cute. Charlie, just being pretty much the gentlest hot mess of a vampire. And Simon being the very very, very confused hunter. I mean, I’d be confused too with the ping pong roll play that Charlie pulled when they first had an interaction. Charlie’s loneliness definitely hit me in the feels. And Simons conversations with his mother‘s grave were just sad. I absolutely just love how Noah just pops up randomly. And truly, you could probably read it as a standalone, but I don’t think you’d get the full picture of Noah if you don’t read the first book. Plus, I mean I loved that book too, so I definitely recommend.

This book was an absolute delight from start to finish. The premise alone is brilliantly offbeat, but it’s the execution that really makes it shine. Charlie is a wonderfully awkward, accidentally-turned vampire who is completely unsuited to undead life, and his refusal (and inability) to be scary makes him instantly lovable.

Pairing him with Simon, a hardened hunter expecting a lethal monster, creates a genuinely funny and surprisingly tender dynamic. Beneath the humour there’s a solid plot with twists that keep things moving, strong character development, and a romance that sneaks up on you in the best way. Sweet, quirky, and full of heart, this was a thoroughly enjoyable read with a very satisfying HEA.

I loved the first book in this series, and was so excited to read the second. I’m an absolute sucker for a hot mess character, and Charlie definitely fits the bill.
Charlie has only recently become a vampire, and I think it’s nice to read a vampire romance without the age gap that usually goes along with the genre.
Simon is such a complex character, and I loved his arc and development. While Charlie is mostly straightforward, Simon has a long way to go and a lot of trauma to come to terms with.
Overall, this book was funny, romantic, and an absolute treat. I’m looking forward to future books in this series, as the “supernaturals that are bad at being supernaturals” is so fun to read and leaves me laughing at my kindle every time.

Vampireness 0/10 Chaos 11/10

As per the title Charlie is truly a terrible terrible vampire, or at least terrible at being what Simon expects a vampire to be. Charlie is sweet and chaotic and completely unprecedented which makes him the perfect match for a stabby vampire hunter who’s finally opened his eyes and started paying attention. While this book had a little more action than I was expecting it was still adorable with a lot of funny moments and some sadder ones. I absolutely adore Charlie who is the most adorable vampire ever and I loved how Simon took care of Charlie even when he was confused about why he was doing it. These two are very cute together and I really enjoyed all their interactions and the new friends they gathered.

Charlie is possibly the worst vampire that has ever been created. He apologises for everything, faints at the sight of blood, and attempts to live off ketchup while continuing to work night shift at a convenience store.
On the flip side Simon may be the greatest vampire hunter that ever lived. With more than 100 kills under his belt, a strong desire to rid the world of vampires, and Charlie as his newest target, things are about to get interesting.
It becomes clear quite quickly to Simon that things aren’t quite adding up, Charlie’s clumsiness doesn’t quite align with the story he has been given, but will he work out the truth before he carries out his mission?
This one is definitely worth a read if you love a soft MMC, a clueless, but supportive best friend, and a bit of a laugh.
