My journey at Emberhold Academy has barely began, and things are already going sideways. My name is Reverie Hawthorne and my first year has been full of surprises.

Strange abilities that no one can explain.

Mean girls taking things to the next level.

Dark Faction starting to make their move.

With war possibly on the horizon, will I form my Faction in time?
Will I be able to live up to what's expected of me?
Can I unravel the mysteries surrounding my abilities?

There is only one acceptable answer.

Absolutely!
There are no other options...

*Inter is a full-length reverse harem PNR Novel with material that may be difficult for some readers. There is no mm or ff within the harem. This book will end on a cliffhanger. It's recommended for 18+ due to language and sexual situations. Check trigger warnings.

Dude get to the point!

This is yet another case of an author with a big story putting in too many extraneous I details and taking entirely too long to move the plot. I understand that it is a series. But continuing to add mysteries instead of actually moving the plot is unnecessary. 284 pages and there has been no plot movement. The Aurathians still suck, no one can be trusted still, Kristine needs to die, Reverie has questions she cannot get answers to, and the Dark Factions are coming. So what that Reverie has weird unexplained powers? We knew that from the first page of the story. No one is supposed to be able to do what she can do. So adding more surprise powers does not advance the plot. It’s honestly, a “no duh” moment. You’ve established that she is super special. Move on. Unfortunately, I am now invested and want to know what happens. That is the only reason that I gave the book 3 stars instead of 1.

This was soooo much better than the first book!!! I really enjoyed it. I'll write more after I've gotten some sleep, just wanted to express that I'm so glad I picked this up despite not loving the first book. There were obviously some factors I liked in the story, but I found the story to be pretty same-y and bland. I can't say that this is unique, but it was a lot more thrilling and kept me interested.
I do really like the use of Displacer Beasts aka Fellats.

3.5 ⭐️ I feel the same as I did in the last book. It’s good, but it leaves me wanting more from it. I feel like there were parts of this that had me on the edge of my seat, but then there were other parts where it dragged. I’m so intrigued by the plot but then at the same time it feels like nothing is truly happening. But then the cliffhanger always gets me😭 so I’ll be back for book 3 i guess.

Inter is the second installment in the ember hold Academy series by Frankie James. This book actually picks up before the cliffhanger at the end of book one. It goes through more of what Nathan was going through on his initiation and the lead up to Nathan and sly arriving at the Hawthorne home. After that review we pick up right where the cliffhanger left off with Sly and Nathan arriving in front of a burning Hawthorne home, and reverie and her crew standing shocked on all sides. With sly arriving home, which is a very emotional reunion, we learn about what has been happening on the planet of Arathia, and that the dark factions are trying to invade and take over earth. The book goes through reverie and her factions journey with being at the Academy during that time, planning to save earth, bonding with all of her faction members, and learning that reverie is even more special than we thought in the first book. She is in fact so special that her parents had been keeping secrets about her based off of information from a seer, and if they let anything slip they could change the future forever.

This book has just as many jokes and laughs as the first. It's highly entertaining while being completely engaging through the plot. The spice picks up a bit more but still does not override the plot of the book. We had a few new character introductions which is nice. We get more character development from all of Reveries men, and we continue to see how strong our FMC is. The men get a lot more unhinged in this book, with their dark sides being heavily prominent. Check your trigger warnings. Reverie has a lot more supernatural abilities start popping up that she doesn't know anything about, which is kind of frustrating but also you can feel her frustration by being frustrated you don't know anything about it. This book ends on another cliffhanger.

This was another good four star read. We still have a lot of editing Errors in this book. And like my first review, this book will not gut you but it will absolutely entertain you and keep you engaged.

When I said I wanted book one to be in multiple books I didn't mean drop the next book to what felt like half!

spoilers.

Alright guys. if we are going to have two of our characters be sexually assaulted we should give a tad bit more warning. If I missed it that is on me, but we have a pretty grotesque rape of her father by selene and then Jet as well. Not great. Also, very much not needed. I always get frustrated with books that add in that plot line because I don't know if it's ever handled properly. Her dad just suppresses it, and Jet doesn't even fully process it at all during his POV and everyone just is okay? I just don't know if that is how it should be handled.

This book was good, I think I just sort of wanted to skim the sections where Nathan and Sly are in the magical realm because u feel like we got more detail on their lives there than we had been getting with our main FMC. The story went from super fast forward in book one to slowing down significantly in book 2. I am not sure this was the way to go but I hope book 3 has more of a balance.

I still want more depth from our guys, more smut wouldn't hurt, and I hope this series stays this interesting.

The cliff hanger was so good and the foreshadowing that led up to it was so well written. I loved the growth we saw in our main characters but also the growth in their bond and how they are starting to really lean into it. I love the confidence and support that the faction gives each other, but also pushes each other to grow. The growth of Oren! I had a love hate relationship with him in book one with his choices but he has grown on me so much. The acceptance of their bond so early and confidence in it reminds me of Nathan.

Absolutely incredible

For some reason the cover didn’t immediately jump out and say “Read Me”. I’m really glad I picked it up. I took a few days to come up with a worthy review because I needed to stop and process.
First things first. We immediately get Nathan’s point of view months into his stay in Aurathia. Training to fight in the colosseum with Hayes and Damian. Nathan doesn’t explain who his Nexus is, as he’s keeping it under wraps. No one has put it together, his Nexie, is Reverie Hawthorn. Haye’s daughter, as Hayes is actually Sly. He’s been forced to bond into a pack he didn’t want and has been forcibly raped to many times to count due to the drugs he’s been forced to take. By Selene. Adelaide’s arch nemesis from their Academy life. With the bonding that Oren forced on Reverie, she gained his fire powers, as did Nathan. Which somehow allowed him to have access to his other powers of teleporting, which is what saved the three of them. Sorta. Hayes and Damian introduce Nathan to Razor who brings them down to the basement of the forced breeding facility of the Fellats that were captured. Surprise, he meets Mira, Adelaide’s Fellat. Mira creates a portal and they all teleport to Reverie who has just come upon her childhood home ablaze. Sly reconnects with Adelaide, their bond renewed. Mira takes Damian to his wife and family. Everyone is glad Nathan is back but no more than Reverie. They go back to school, and then the bullying starts. Kristen and her number 2, Sophie keep bullying Reverie a slut and that she’s cheating on the other guys as they are still hiding their bond. Oren, isn’t doing anything to help stop the bullying which kinda pisses me because it’s his Mate his step sister is talking about. Kristen still believes that she will attract and bond all the strongest guys. Her guys. Nathan, Jet, Zane and Zeke. Oren being her step brother is not on the table. They all turn her down time and time again, but she seems to think she has it in the bag. It just pisses me off to read a scene on rape, and Kristen’s thoughts on it. I don’t understand why they won’t go to the head master. She injected him with a drug that made him hard, and used her mind control abilities to force him not to move. I’m SOO thankful that this happened AFTER Jets epiphany, knowing that Reverie was his future. I’m unsure how he would have felt after the close call he had if Reverie didn’t come and knock Kristen out. I would have beat the ever loving Crap out of her, but she woke with a slight head ache and even flappier lips. She won’t admit defeat and the end just proves that with Kristen kidnapping Reverie. Probably back to Aurathia. No one else knows Reverie has her men’s powers. And now she has a trait that hasn’t been seen in a millennia. There are a few spots mentioned about this “trait” and about Queen Lillibet (?). Maybe a prophecy about her being the next Queen? She can bind her men into a tighter group, they each have a tattoo like sigil pop up on their skin after an intense conversation on how much she is their present and their future. So much happened in this book. I couldn’t get enough!

There was a lot to like if I’m being honest.
The thing I didn’t like was that it was such a short book. And that rape was handled so lightly in this book as if it was just something small and insignificant instead of it being so huge. Like if I walked in on my mate, being raped and I had magic that person would be dead. But that’s just my opinion.
And after the dream/premonition she had over what would happen to her in the other world I’m really hoping that doesn’t happen in book 3 cause that would make me not read book 3 to be completely honest. I’m trying not to give too much away but at the end of the book The FMC has some type of vision or dream or may be a premonition. And if that’s what’s gonna happen in book 3, then I’m not reading it because I hate shit like that to be honest. So let’s hope that doesn’t come to fruition.

4.75 ⭐️

Holy crap book 2 was even better than book 1. My only complaint is really how short it is because I need so much more. That cliffhanger is killing me. I knew I’d regret starting this series before it had more books out and I was right because I can’t handle waiting until December to continue the story.

The male leads continued to develop which I was super happy about. Sometimes with RH there’s like a formula where once they are with the FMC their personalities start to revolve around her. I did not find that with this book. Don’t get me wrong, they are devoted and she is definitely on their minds constantly, but they didn’t do a personality transplant from book 1. They continued to stay true to who they were and we got a better look that in this book and the plot continued to develop.

The FMC didn’t get annoying at any point for me. She’s strong and badass, but also has a sense of self to know her limitations and is smart about conceding to others who know better. She is a well adjusted, capable young woman who knows her worth, while also being compassionate and understanding. She doesn’t jump to conclusions and act impulsively. She pushes for communication and getting other’s sides of the situation. LOVE THAT!!!

Still love her parents and her best friend. I love that they were still in book 2 as much as book 1 and it didn’t just revolve around her harem. They have significant roles in the story and it seems as that will continue in the series based on events in this book.

Okay something that did kinda bug me: (slight spoiler but I won’t go into too much detail)
- when one MMC did something that I’m definitely not happy with, there was like no grovel and she gave in way too fast in my opinion. I understand there’s a bond/mate thing at play and she does have an internal struggle because part of her wants to make him work for forgiveness but the other part wants to just be with her bonds. And also his reasoning for what he did I can understand where he was coming from but that doesn’t make it okay. It’s messy for sure and I understand why she was struggling with holding a grudge. I get it, I do, but still I feel like he should’ve been made to grovel least a little bit. But he does prove himself later which helped but yea that’s my thoughts on that.
Even though she forgave him super quickly, I think the author did a good job of not making it seem like she’s weak or simpering for her men, which made it easier to accept in my opinion.

Anyways, I loved this book and I have so many burning questions and I just need the next book ASAP!!

Can I say I ate this book UP! I read Exordium when it first released and loved it so much I have read it like 4/5 times now. I actually read it yesterday in anticipation of Inter releasing today. I tried to work and read at the same time and it worked out pretty well because it gave me time to mull over what I had read.

Inter picks up where Exordium ends. And can I say poor Nathan was sucked into a literal hell for his initiation! He meets a friend, and oh how this friend really impacts the storyline. So much evil is uncovered. Key players in the parent’s history are revealed. Reveries relationships with her guys strengthens and of course we get to see her put the smack down on some “thirsty bitches” 🤣

This book is a bit darker than Exordium was, so mind the trigger warnings!! I believe I saw them at the front of the book but please reach out to the author if you have questions about specific content, she’s super friendly and responsive. I’ve seen some mixed reviews about the series and I want to say that the depiction of the younger characters is very similar to how my daughters and their partners act when around the family, and they are all approaching their 30s. Kids of this generation tend to be more free spirited for a longer period of time, so maybe take that with a grain of salt when reading. And there’s a few small editing errors or things that were missed, it didn’t take away from the story or interrupt my reading flow in any way. I only caught them because my job is to draft and review legal documents.

I’m not sure what I will do when this series ends, the world and characters are so dear to me. And I love the relationship Frankie cultivates with her readers. 10/10 I totally recommend this series and likely any others Frankie James graces us with. But mind the cliffhanger, it’s steep! Happy reading friends!

📚 Inter by Frankie James

Rating: 4.5/5
Spice: 🔥🔥🔥

I’m genuinely blown away by how incredible this series is. Inter is the second book in the Emberhold Academy trilogy. The book is fast paced and a bit short, but I absolutely love every bit of it. The world building, the characters, the growth throughout the story continues to impress me.

In Inter, the story picks up exactly where Exordium left off. This book delves further into the growing bond each of the men shares with Reverie. I absolutely admire Reverie for never putting up with anyone’s crap, not from the mean girls and not even from her own men. And how fiercely protective she is of those she loves. I also adore how each of her men is unique in personality, yet they’re all completely devoted to her and would burn the world down for her. Their witty banter is everything. It’s what makes me giddy every time. From Nathan to the twins, Zane and Zeke, and then Oren and Jet. Each of them brings something special to the story. But Nathan will always have my heart.

Beyond deepening her bond with her men and with the threat of war drawing near, will Reverie be able to form her Faction in time? Can she rise to the challenges and expectations that await her? And will she uncover the truth behind her powers before it’s too late?

If you’re into fated mates, magic, sexy time, and actions, then this series is a must read. I highly recommend it.

@frankiejamesauthor thanks for letting me in the cool kids club and for the e-arc.

Soooooo goooooood!!!!

This was an absolute rollercoaster. The story picked up right where the first left off, and I was instantly pulled back into the action. I honestly had a hard time putting it down—the pacing was fast, the stakes were higher, and the tension never really let up.

Even though the book ended on a cliffhanger (and yes, I’m still screaming inside), the journey there was totally worth it. The plot twists kept me guessing, and the character development felt natural and satisfying. There were still plenty of funny moments and witty conversations that gave me a breather between the intense scenes—I really appreciated that balance.

That said, I hated seeing the villains gain the upper hand at times. It was frustrating, but I also get why it had to happen. The story wouldn’t feel as real or as gripping without those darker turns. It made me root for the main characters even more.

Now I’m just counting the days until Book 3. After that ending, I need to know what happens next!

More of the Same, For Better and Worse

Inter, the second installment in the Emberhold Academy series, continues Riviere's journey without breaking new ground. This book doubles down on the concepts established in the first novel, following the same formula of magical training, faction politics, and romantic entanglements.

Unfortunately, the problematic themes noted in Exordium persist, and the plot becomes even more predictable. The narrative relies heavily on tropes where the characters' choices lead to foreseeable disasters, creating a sense of frustration rather than suspense. While the first book had a element of novelty, this sequel feels like it's simply going through the motions, adhering to a safe and overused romantasy blueprint.

If you enjoyed the first book despite its flaws, you may still find elements to like here. However, for readers hoping for growth, originality, or a resolution to the initial concerns, Inter is likely to be a disappointing read that offers more of the same, but with diminishing returns.

Inter by Frankie James 🔥

Rating: 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Inter is the second book in the Emberhold Academy trilogy.

Please read trigger warnings! A harem full of morally grey characters that are sexy, smart and lethal 😍😍

I have really enjoyed both books from this series. I was able to read Inter early and I’m so glad I did.
Nathan and the twins - love them. Their dynamic together and with Reverie - I die of laughter 😂 chefs kiss!

Oren and Jet - they are obviously the older of the group and have more life experience. Which also means more trauma and a set of responsibilities that they struggle with when it comes to Reverie and the bond. I really want to love them but they’re so serious lol
They do love Reverie and I hope they’re able to bond properly the next book butttt I have a feeling something major is going to happen.

I love how connected everything is, how easy of a read it is, I love the characters - okay well the group, Chloe, the parents and the animals. The female villains - don’t even get me started. They’re very Amarantha coded if you want to know what you’re getting in to. The banter is hilarious. The spice is decent. I saw minor editing issues. I would recommend reading this just prepare for that cliffhanger!!

am seriously blow away with Frankie James, I cannot get enough of this series and am already chomping at the bit for the next book in this series.

All of Reveries men bring something a little different to the table. I think Nathan will always be favorite but the twins and are close second. There were so many emotional ups and downs in this story that I was afraid to put it down. The are a few pure evil characters in this that I would like to see burn for the terror and damage they have caused.

This was a super fast paced read with lots of chaos and excitement. Spicy moments were a 10 and I am obsessed with the humor these charters have given what challenges they are facing.

Book Review of ‘ Inter’ by Frankie James

Book 2 continues where it left off in book 1.
It took me a little time to get into the story, was so excited to continue reading about Reverie’s journey with her upcoming faction.
Alltho I still love the plot, it felt dragging at times, then when the bonding occurred, it suddenly felt so rushed. Would have loved to see that more delved in to. Felt a little anti climax tbh.
But again, it was an up and down of drag and rush at times.
I still want to read the next installment tho to know what happens to them!
The 🌶️ picked up a notch compared to the first book.

3.75 stars, good story, not the best storytelling

I’m enjoying the story but the writing is a bit juvenile at times. It’s missing the nuances that come in interactions that draw you into the story and make good storytelling. I can’t even begin to count how many times in both books we’re told everyone is dying laughing…and it’s just abrupt when it happens and it jars you out of the story. It’s like hearing a friend recount a story to you as opposed to being there and experiencing it. Great storytellers have the reader experience it instead of telling them. The story is great but it’s missing that story telling factor which brings the rating and experience down for me.

“Inter” started off amazing, and I thought we were really getting somewhere. I kept the good vibes going until somewhere halfway this book, and then I noticed my attention slipping again. Honestly, the time on earth just feels a bit too cliché for me. I love my men slightly unhinged, but there needs to be some kind of balance in the harem to make it plausible. And that balance is missing here. They’re all a bunch of hotheads together, even the ones who are supposed to be the rational ones. As a result, I don’t feel the desire to read further. Perhaps in the future I’ll be tempted to give this series another go, but this time it unfortunately can’t keep my attention.

Enjoyable read

I’m enjoying this book and the growth of the relationships between the FMC and her MMCs, and between the MMCs themselves. There were a few minor things though that kept pulling me out of the story. The first is the constant response of ‘dying with laughter’ to things that aren’t even that funny which makes them seem juvenile. Next is the formatting as it’s often mid conversation or mid sentence that instead of continuing its set up as new paragraph. Will continue as curious how it will end given the cliffhanger though.

Coin toss for the rating

I'm invested now. Talk about long winded though.

So that ending.....

Reverie (heroine) you should know that by now it is book 2 lol anyhoo she has a nice bunch of MMCs. I'm totally here for this. The more psycho the better.

There are plot holes and you have to be into over the top l o v e, also a lot of things are repetitive.

But, yes I want to know how this ends.

Amazing series and story line.

This series just keeps getting better. The dialogue between characters is great with lots of sass. The world building is excellent and you can visualize the world around the characters. The author has a way of creating scenes that are very realistic. I would 100% recommend this series to everyone. Cannot wait for book 3 cause book 2 left me with cliffhanger that just isn’t fair.

This series is fantastic. The world building is superb. We learned more about the characters background as we moved through the story, the FMC's parents play more of a part in this book, and we find out what's truly going on in Aurathia and who is behind it. We learn a lot, but there is still more to learn. This author's debut series is freaking amazing. Go pre-order Book 3. You'll be glad to have it drop in your library when it releases!

I tried, truly…

I just can’t get past the juvenile writing. One second it’s a critical situation they need to discuss and have serious convos on and the next second it’s giggling and “busting out laughing”. All the nicknames and childish bickering that was funny at first and not it’s dumbs the story and characters down. I just can’t keep up. I really enjoyed the plot and truly wish the characters weren’t so dumb and stupid in their dialogue and behavior.

It took me a bit longer to fully get into this book than the first of this series. But that doesn’t mean it is not good! I just felt like the first 1/3 was a bit repetitive and then it picked up again.

I love the way this story is unfolding! It’s getting more and more exciting.

And excuse me. What do you mean this is the ending?!! That can’t be.

OMG! This book is fantastic! Frankie James wrote another fabulous book! I am so excited to see where this goes next. I hate that I read this in just a few short hours of it coming out and now will have to wait AGAIN for the next book. I highly recommend reading this series even though it isn’t finished.

Ehhh....I struggled with this one. The subject matter was really dark to be counteracted with giggles and juvenile behavior. It took a lot away from the believability of things.

Also, poor Nathan. The author continues to change the spelling of his name from Nathan to Nathen.

I think I'm done with this series. I tried, but it just couldn't hold my attention.

I am sad I have to wait!

I think this series is so good I can't wait for book 3! I almost didn't want to start it because I knew it was going to end on the dreaded cliffhanger! But because of the dream you can draw a conclusion on what the cliffhanger might be. I hate Kristine i hope she gets what is coming to get next book!
