Joining a long lost companion, a young champion embarks on a quest that will increase his godlike power—and challenge his humanity—in this dark fantasy.
Zeke Blackwood wields mana beyond imagination. A human/demon hybrid, he walks the path of arcane destruction, slaughtering monstrous and mythical creatures in one conflict after another. With every victory, he’s becoming more powerful—and less human. But despite the devastation he’s left in his wake, he’s also saved lives and become the reluctant king of a diverse community of beastkin, elves, kobolds, and other species. He protects them even as he follows the will of the god Oberon toward his destiny as a warrior in a forthcoming battle that could destroy the very fabric of reality.
Journeying through the Kingdom of El’Kireth, Zeke finds a land embroiled in civil war. Armies of vampires and undead clash with one faction determined to expand their empire and turn all living beings into zombies. Leading the opposition is Zeke’s old companion Talia Nightingale, who wants her people to survive but not at the cost of condemning everyone in the realm to undeath. She needs Zeke’s help to not only stop the war but also save her wounded friend Adriel.
Now, Zeke and Talia must conquer the trials of a dungeon to find the Seed of Life and Death. Inhuman, demonic, and unnatural beings attack them at every turn, but the dungeon’s true dangers come from the pair’s very own souls, born from their traumatic pasts and prophesizing dark futures that threaten to consume them. And outside the dungeon, an enemy they long believed dead prepares to take his revenge . . .
The ninth volume of the hit LitRPG fantasy series—with more than a million views on Royal Road—now available in paperback, ebook, and audiobook!
I immensely enjoy this series, but sometimes I get frustrated with it.
The dungeon felt a lot like filler and it wouldn't be half as bad if it didn't take up more than a third of the book.
Also I have issues with how the power scaling in respect to the stats works. As far as I can remember the grades should be exponentially better the higher they are. This creates a problem in how to assign free stat points as mathematically giving an S+ stat an additional point is four times more impactful than adding one to a C stat.
But as I wrote in the beginning, I really enjoy the world and the characters even if they sometimes infuriate me. The rapid progression and the impact of Zeke in the world is amazing to see. I'll definitely be getting the next book to see some brilliant warfare strategies. And a continued meteoric rise within the world.

Is it just me, or is there no consistency in the book. First kobolds can't step foot into undead kingdom, cuz lack of vitality is ☠️. But with no change to the situation, are able to now fight in the capital of undead kingdom without issue. Builds up that he has the sorceror prepping to blow the hole city if necessary. Then finds out he needs to blow the whole city, and decides to invade with army (that should be quickly dying due to the location) instead of blowing it all...

I've been waiting for this meet-up for several books and what do I get? A sandbox episode that is mostly filler. Books used to be self-contained stories that progressed the series. Now they are episodic filler that pad a series count. This all might as well have been written by AI.
Another great addition to this series. I liked that this book was more focused on the MC and his growth. It will be interesting to see where the author takes the story in the next book. Looking forward to reading it.
