Great book for beginners. I was probably not the right target for this book. Mr. Elad provides great examples of how to set up your first profile, make recommendations, network with others and participate in groups.


Five stars for beginners and 3 stars for intermediate to advanced users.

Like most I’ve read in the Dummies series, this one easily and thoroughly explains how to get started in the task/use—in this case LinkedIn.

There’s an annoying amount of grammatical errors (annoying to me any way).

Much of it I already knew or have managed to get done on LinkedIn before I read this. But that’s no dis to this book. It merely shows how easy it is to get started in LinkedIn. Some sections of the book, having to do with company pages and the like, didn’t apply to me. These are easily skipped without loss of the other values.

I came across this book at the library by chance and decided to check it out. And I'm glad I did. While I have been on LinkedIn for quite a while I'd never taken the time to explore the full scope of the site. Talk about a newbie!. After a run through Linked for Dummies, my profile is now up-to-date. Heartily recommended to other newbies.

I kept hearing about LinkedIn and finally gave in to my professional curiosity. I decided to set up my account before I stumbled into this immensely helpful to-do book. From what I've seen and read of the profiles of my local LinkedIn network, it seems that most people only tap into the very basics of LinkedIn and don't realize how valuable this tool is and what it can do to promote a business, help one land a position or be found for a position.

"LinkedIn for Dummies" teaches all the ins and outs, the right ways and the wrong ways, and how to make the most effective use of the LinkedIn web site. What's great is that it is written in such a manner that you can skip or move to the chapter which interests you more.

Still, the more you read, the more excited you get of trying out all the new and cool things you learned in this extremely detailed manual. For me, this is the book that uncovered the mystery LinkedIn can seem to be at first sight.

More a walk-through of LinkedIn than an in-depth guide to using it, this is a good introduction to the many features and tools on the networking site. Joel Elad is maybe a bit too cautious, offering multiple warnings about ways one might be tagged as a spammer, but he does offer a useful reference work.

Read for work, not a lot of new info in here... I'm still not convinced about the use of their intros and the author even questions the upgraded membership for job search and networking. Seems like face to face needs to happen to.

This book was not useful. It did not provide enough technical detail to set up a LinkedIn site. I just figured out LinkedIn myself. I purchased a kindle version. If you want to purchase this book, purchase hardcopy. It would be easier to read while fiddling with LinkedIn.

The information was new because it was published in 2021, and it was easy to understand because many images were cited; it also helped me understand LinkedIn's advertising operations.
