His blood made me. My choice will destroy him.Sterling’s formula doesn’t just kill. It rewrites who we are. And I’ve seen what happens when it takes hold—because it’s already changing me.
My scent is shifting. My designation is unstable. And the man who made me this way is the one I have to my father.
Inside Sterling’s sanctum, the truth cuts deeper than • Ryker’s control is cracking under the pressure of love and command. • Jinx grows more feral every time I pull away. • Finn’s racing against time—his cure, his body, his heart. • Theo’s heat is near, and with it a bond none of us are ready for.
And then there’s Mona—my sister, my mirror, my wild card. She’s playing her own game. And we’ll either win this together—or watch everything burn.
I didn’t ask to be a weapon. But now? I’ll use every line of Sterling code running through my DNA to bring him down.
This isn’t just about saving betas anymore. It’s about saving what’s left of our humanity. When blood says one thing, and love says another—choose your pack.
This is the 3rd book in Cayenne's Sugar & Spice SeriesWhy Choose, Fast Burn, Forced Proximity, Broken Hero, Frenemies-to-Lovers, & Adrenaline JunkieLove Fast Paced Action and Adventure with some spice? Then you will love Reckless.
I've enjoyed this series overall, but with that being said, I wasn't expecting a 4th book, but bring it on...
New siblings have entered in, and I have taken a liking to Mona. She's very calculated in everything that she does. Just when they think they've got everything under control, other stuff starts happening and it's a race against a clock. There's more twists and I need more answers and I can't wait for the last one after the end of this one...
Once again, we’re reunited with Cayenne, Ryker, Jinx, Finn, and Theo as they race against time to save Cayenne from Sterling Labs and her father’s grip.
These books truly continue to amaze me; it has been such a thrilling journey so far.
Jinx remains my all-time favorite character. His wild, chaotic nature really shines through, and the way he connects with Cayenne is just beautiful to witness. He brings a delightful humor to the story, especially with lines like:
"No offense to your very sexy brain... but if I have to watch you and Glitch have another four-hour strategic foreplay session over tiny carved pieces, I might actually cry. Like, full-on mascara running, snot-dripping emotional breakdown."
I also find Mona to be such a fascinating addition. I can’t quite decide if she’s completely insane, brilliant, or maybe a little bit of both—as well as being broken. Perhaps it's all three at once!
This series has everything—a fiery hacker beta who pushes boundaries while seeking healing, fiercely protective alphas, a dysfunctional family, unsettling experiments, and enough angst and twists to keep you glued to the pages. And that cliffhanger... I can’t help but feel the desperate need for the next book. I absolutely love it!
Thoughts: This was another thrilling instalment the series with lots of action, some spice and strong emotions. Poppy continues to write so eloquently and I love how she paints a scene. She continues to write each point of view with allegories that match their personalities. We now see the cohesion of a pack, built on love and trust. With her sister Mona, the team is poised to fight back against the biological warfare that attacks only betas. The mysterious engineered virus plays havoc with the team, but they rally around Cayenne and with Mona’s help train to take down the Sterling Corporation. With their brother Alexander hunting them down, the team is left split up during another shocking cliffhanger.

Reckless: Corruption is book 3 of 4 in the Sugar & Spice Series by Poppy Carter. You do need to read books 1 and 2 before this one as it picks up shortly after the end of book 2. There is a large cliffhanger at the end of this book.
Cay starts the book as a prisoner with her father. She meets a new sibling, Mona, who is a very interesting character. She has been raised by their father with Alexander. Cay needs to determine who’s side Mona is on. The complications don’t end there. Theo’s heat will be starting soon but he is trying to hold it off so everyone can participate. Another member of the pack becomes sick and it is a race to lessen the symptoms and find a cure.
This was another great installment of this story. By the end we see there is a much bigger game being played and it will be interesting to see how that drives the next book. Go out and read this book now.
I honestly just started skimming most of this book. So much of it was repetitive conversations and information. I skipped most of Mona’s dialogue because I couldn’t handle the repetitiveness. This series really could’ve been condensed into 1 or 2 books. I hate to say it because I’ve read 3 books and there is only 1 left but I honestly don’t think I’m going to read the 4th book.
Also I didn’t understand why the fmc was just off doing all these side quests while she while she was 1. Actively fighting off a virus/lethal injection 2. Had her absolute ass kicked and had severe injuries and stab wounds and 3. NONE of the pack cared. The fact that we didn’t see the alphas caring for her at all during this time or even voicing their concerns for her truly annoyed me.
★”The fight becomes a dance of blood and broken family ties.”★
Multiple POVs make for an exciting installment, with much helpful input from an unlikely source, Mona, Cayenne’s creatively brilliant omega sister. More information comes to light on Roman Sterling’s plan, making Cayenne more determined than ever to save everyone who will come into contact with the virus…including her own exposure, which seems to be changing her subtly, but she can certainly use the new version of her to fight her father and his forces. Looking forward to seeing what comes next for all involved, for the pack and for the Sterling family members.
This is another great instalment in this series. Cayenne’s character shines through as being chaotically brilliant. I love Ryker, Finn, and Theo, but Jinx is my favourite with his aggression and enjoyment at causing chaos. I think that Mona is a great addition and like Cayenne, has some weird but endearing quirks. I think that the additional family element works wonderfully. This story still continues to showcase multiple twists and turns from Daddy Stirling. The next book, which I believe is the final instalment, is going to be a doozy and I cannot wait to read it!
This picks up where the second book left off. Cayenne is still as Reckless as she was in the first two books. I love her guys. The book did feel a little repetitive. But I'm still fully invested. My mind also picks up on certain repetitive patterns. I'm wondering if the Arthur's favorite number is 7 or 73 because the number seven was used 29 times and 73 seconds was used 10 times. I would love to get to know Mona because I think her mind is brilliant.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
After writing my reviews for the first two books, I realized I am a little more bothered by things than I initially thought and finishing the series because of that one random spark of curiosity is not going to be enough for me to invest more time. DNF 75%.
I don't like the romance, starting to not like more of the characters, and it is getting pretty repetitive which is making me feel bored. This is just not for me.
Interesting. Book 3 picks up where book 2 left off. There is a sense of urgency that runs throughout and I enjoy the underlying story. That being said, there is a heavy feeling of repetitiveness and it would benefit from another round of edits. Some of the chapters feel extra long and could have been shortened up a bit. I do like the characters and I'm curious how this will end.
The third book took me a liiiiiitle bit longer for me to get through (hence 4 stars instead of 5) but the plot thickens!
I can't wait to see how it all gets wrapped up in the end. And I'm SO curious about Mona! She's such a character! Will she end up with her own series? I can't decide if the way she acts is genuine or an act at all. Much confusion! (hehe!)
Full of action and romance and amazing character growth. This book, like the rest of the series, is a whirlwind of a ride and will keep you turning pages until you're finished and will leave you craving for more
This book picks up where book 2 left off. We meet Mona and Cayenne's other family as well. After being captured and locked up by her father and brother can her new pack rescue her? Can her sister keep her sane and help her survive? What happens when Mona and Cayenne get out? Does everyone survive the book?
I once again loved the characters and the plot. While the book was good and much needed, I felt like it was more of a filler book. Some important info but a lot of random information and situations. I look forward to reading the last book in the series. Cayenne and her pack deserve a happy ending!!!
