Lakewood University #2
Treacherous
Willow Rogers has been passionate about hockey since she was eight years old and begged her parents to play for the Meadow Beach Jets. After years of toxicity from her teammates, she escapes to Lakewood University for her senior year with the hope of winning the Frozen Four. However, the move places her on a collision course with her best friend's brother, Jayden Allen.
Jayden Allen lives and breathes hockey. Ever since his seventh birthday, when his parents took him ice skating for the first time. After years of hard work and dedication, he is on track to play professionally once he graduates. All he needs to do is remain in control and lead the Lakewood Hawks to a Frozen Four victory.
The rivalry and hatred between Willow and Jayden has been brewing for the years, beginning when they were merely teenagers. Willow’s reckless streak and Jayden’s need for control clash at every turn, yet they soon find the line separating loathing and lust is flimsy and easily blurred.
It was only meant to be a meaningless fling to relieve tension because with scars etched into their hearts, both are terrified to fall in love again.
Will their treacherous love lead them together or drive them further apart?

Willow is the best friend of Jayden’s sister. Willow is also a hockey player who drives Jayden crazy, (or does she?) and of course his surprise brand new roommate in the hockey house.
Willow had faced some strong, toxic behaviour and was pleasantly surprised by the behavior her new teammates & coaches at Lakewood University. We get to explore why Willow & Jayden don't get along, what struggles Jayden has faced emotionally and what happens when they give in to the chemistry.
I loved that after some strong conflict, it was Willow trying to win Jayden over. It was a different take on the closed off emotion we typically see. I also really enjoyed that Jayden allowed himself to feel his emotions, and turned to his sister for support. At first I was upset by the sister’s reaction to Willow, but by the end I understood and appreciated it more.
I definitely recommend this book if you enjoy hockey romance, college romance, best friends brother, good mentions of mental health struggles & a healthy amount of spice, with great verbal consent required by Jayden. Also had one of my favorite microtropes with little kids coloring in a tattoo (very small but it always brings me joy!)
This is book 2, in an Interconnected part of a series, but I read this first and it didn’t bother me. Reading book 1-Afterglow now.
Thank you to the author for the ARC!

This was my first introduction to Grace's writing, and I enjoyed reading about Willow and Jayden.
Their semi-second chance romance was fun, and I loved the slight rivals to teammates to lovers that they had going on, even though I struggled at times to understand where the "enemies to lovers" trope came into play, as I didn't find that they were necessarily enemies.
I LOVE that Willow was a hockey player, absolutely adore seeing FMCs in male-dominated sports, and I loved the banter and the relationships she had with the wider team.
You could feel the tension between the MCs, but at times, I felt the chemistry almost lackluster. The spice was certainly spicing, and was well written into the narrative, and I liked the overall story of Willow finding her love for hockey once more.
There is so much banter and comedy within the pages, as well as the romance. I especially loved the mini-golf scene, and the texting between Willow and Jaz had me cackling in some points. I adored the found family of this book, and I definitely swooned with Jayden's little acts of kindness towards Willow in secret.
There were a few niggly things with editing and grammar that got to me as I read (I found at times Grace over-used the characters name when personally I would have thought it would have flowed better with a "he" or a "she") and I understand that the author chose to write in Australian English, but it seemed a bit odd to me when the characters were American (but these grammar things did not cause the lower rating).
Definitely a fun read and would like to see where Grace goes with this series and her writing journey in the future.
Thank you to the author and @phoenix.rising.literary for the eARC opportunity. These are my honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.

What a beautiful surprise with a roller coaster of emotions! I was waiting for this book for a while, and finally being able to read it was very exciting.
The main characters are unique; it has been a while since I saw a dynamic like this. Seeing a boy so obsessed was thrilling, but one that was so in touch with his emotions and wasn't afraid of asking women for advice? That was just unbeatable.
On the other side, seeing how Willow finally got rid of her past and accepted her faults and put so much effort in order to win Jayden's trust and affection was fascinating.
The mental health representation was delivered with a lot of honesty and respect; it was another element without having all the attention, but it was highlighted when it needed to be.
Thank you so much @livvygrace.writes and @phoenix.rising.literary for giving the chance of being an ARC.

I received an early advance copy and this is my honest review.
The tension and chemistry is off the charts. Jay & Willow seem like an unlikely pair until you realize they've subconsciously villainized each other to protect their hearts for YEARS. The Lakewood hockey team is a FAMILY FIRST. They welcomed Willow in and acted as big brothers when they started to see some of the turmoil she went through. Jay loves his control, in and out of the bedroom and it is HOT.
I couldn't put this book down, and the dirty talk [degr@dation] had me feeling scandalous reading it in public.
Make sure to have your toys ready before you dive into this book because it'll have you skimming paragraphs ahead in excitement.

Willow seems to think loving her is a chore, but that couldn't be further from the truth.
I want her loud moments,
the vulnerable pieces of herself that hide under her rough exterior.
I want to love her on the hard days and the easy days.
I love her
I'm in love with her.

This was such a lovely read. I came into this one having not read book 1 so I'll be ordering that asap to catch up on what I missed.
But even reading this without the backstory of book 1, it was completely fine. I suspect nuance and detail was missing, but it didn't take away from the enjoyment of this one.
I'm a sucker for hockey romance, so this was a nice take on that with both the MMC and FMC being hockey players with professional career aspirations.
It was fantastic to read about a world where a woman playing in a "mens sport" was treated with the same level of respect as the guys. That's not something I've come across in a book before (let alone the real world).
I enjoyed the dynamic between Willow and Jayden and that simmering that was under the surface for the first half of the book.
I really enjoyed the relationships with all the other side characters. They were funny and sweet and really fun to read.
Was it predictable, yes, but that didn't take away from it. I was hooked and couldn't put it down.
There was so hard stuff in there, not dark, but do check the trigger warnings just in case.
Really hoping there's a book 3 of this series and very much looking forward to going back to read book 1.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a hockey romance, but this was the perfect one to pull me back in. Both the FMC and MMC play college hockey on the same team, and while they can’t stand each other, the tension between them is insane. Jayden is completely obsessed with Willow, doing all these little secret things to make her happy, even when they’re supposed to dislike each other. Jayden and Willow have known each other almost their whole lives (he’s her best friend’s brother) and they’ve never been able to get along. I really enjoyed their story and banter, especially watching both of them try to grow and be better for each other. It was nice to see a strong FMC who fought for her dreams, made mistakes, and wasn’t afraid to grovel for the relationship when necessary. I really liked their dynamic and Jayden had me swooning with how devoted he was to Willow.
Even though I haven’t read book one, I had no trouble jumping right into the story and understanding everything. That said, I’m definitely excited to go back and read it xx
thank you for this arc <3

"Treacherous" by Olivia Grace is the second book in the Lakewood University hockey series. It features Willow Rogers, a female hockey player, and Jayden Allen, a male hockey player. Willow has been best friends with Jayden’s twin sister since childhood, which has resulted in a long-standing rivalry between her and Jaden due to his perception of her recklessness.
As Willow moves to Lakewood University for her final year of college to pursue hockey, she brings her experiences of being treated poorly as a female player in a male-dominated sport. Willow also moves into the “Hockey House” where Jayden also lives with other teammates.
The story is a classic enemies-to-lovers romance, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Willow knows how to push Jayden’s buttons!
Once they are on the same team, Jayden discovers that he and Willow have much more in common than he previously thought. It's a captivating read, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys hockey romance novels.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5
🌶️/5
Enemies to lovers, best friend’s brother, hockey romance
This was a quick read for me, but I found it hard to follow at times (I even caught myself going back a couple of chapters to verify something I thought sounded off) and it had some typos. It is written in Australian/British English which felt a little weird since it took place in the States but that is acknowledged at the beginning of the book.
Jayden and Willow have hated each other since they met 13 years ago, but it never stopped them from being each other’s first kiss or biggest cheerleader. Both characters bring a lot of trauma into their situationship and it ended up bringing them together in the end. They were very sweet to each other and very…not sweet in other ways. There are a few explicit scenes and minor kink mentions. Overall, I liked it, but I struggled through some of the inconsistencies.

This book… wow. Treacherous completely took over my heart. Olivia gave me angst, tension, and heartbreak in the best way possible( almost couldnt handle it ) The characters felt so raw and real almost felt like I was in the book myself😊 , and the Lakewood University setting made it impossible to put down. I wanted to do it in one sitting but I couldnt “ I have a child “ 😂
If you love: College romance
Enemies to lovers vibes. Angsty twists & emotional rollercoasters
A broody hockey player who makes you scream at your Kindle/paperback/ebook
then this is 100% your next read. I laughed, I cried, I kicked my feet in the air. This story had me hooked from page one and didn’t let me go. So you can say I loved it.

Short and lovely read! I think it’s the first sports romance I’ve read where the main characters play the same sport and are in the same team, which I enjoyed a lot.
It’s frustrating that Willow had to endure the treatment she got from her former team, so I’m glad her new team is way better and treats her with respect! Also she’s so awesome oh my gosh what a star player!
And Jayden’s such a teddy bear! You wouldn’t expect it but he’s so considerate, and I love that he pays attention and actually remembers what Willow likes.
I recommend reading this story if you like:
- Sports romance
- Enemies to lovers
- Best friend’s brother
- He falls first
- Found family
Thank you so much to Olivia Grace and Phoenix Rising Literary for the ARC opportunity! ❤️

Being an ARC reader for this Taylor Swift loving author has yet again been a pleasure.
This time we are taken back to the same university, but with a new love story approaching.
Willow and Jayden, started off as enemies, slowly becoming lovers and UGHHHH it was so perfectly done!!
Adding back in our protagonists from the last book as side characters was done so perfectly, and so was every other character present. The hockey team had my HEART!!! (I’d love to see more of their lives if this author ever chooses to continue this story.)
Definitely a book worth a read, and a reread, and another reread after that!!

I really think I wanted more from this. I think it was cute and pretty good, I just wanted more.
FMC Willow comes from a traumatic experience at her old university's hockey team. After an experience she couldn't move on from, she transfers to Lakewood. Which is where she is forced to reencounter her past, aka Jayden.
MMC Jayden desperately needs to be in control of everything. But Willow returns to his life and changes all of that with the snap of her fingers.
I love their dynamic from the beginning, pushing to hurt each other because they cannot accept their feelings for each other.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this novel, but all opinions are my own! 💕
Treacherous by Olivia Grace was a fun read that once I started reading, I had a hard time putting down! Although there is a lot of Hockey romance novels, this was the first I’ve read where both the FMC (Willow) and MMC (Jayden) were both hockey players. The female empowerment was great to see! I also enjoyed both characters and connected with how they were written.
This novel has a few spicy scenes 🔥 but they don’t overshadow the plot of the book, which is what I prefer! Overall would recommend to others 🫶

The story is strong, Willow being a female Hockey player in a male orientated sport, she's making waves and wanting to be someone to look up to and she's smashing it. The enemies to lovers dynamic between Willow and Jayden is absolute gold- they're fiery and fierce, crossing that fine line between hate and love, but denying their feelings comes from both sides.
I really enjoyed reading this one, the Hockey side of the romance is unique- I haven't read where the female is making something of herself by playing in a male focused sport and it makes it even more epic.

Wow, I really liked this one! The representation of women in male dominated sports was super fun to read about and is not super common. I think I've only read about it one other time. It really shows how resilient Willow is, because she had to deal with a lot before coming to Lakewood.
I loved all of Jayden's little acts of kindness towards Willow, even if she would never find out that it was him who was doing them. The showering, the matcha powder, etc. I loved all of it!
Thank you Olivia Grace for the e-ARC. All thoughts are my own.

I absolutely devoured this book in one day! Did not! Want to put it down. The author brought every character to life and so clearly represented women in a male-dominated field. Everything about the book was amazing. I'm so glad I came across her page months ago with a little blurb of this book. One of the best things to happen to me this year. Definitely one of the best reads of the year for me, honestly, might stay on top for a bit. 1000% Recommend this book to any ice hockey romance lover.

~I have an essay plus pre-labs–a booklet with questions to fill out before we head to class–to finish. The only thing about studying dietetics and nutrition along with playing sport is it can be hard to find time for everything.~
Such a quick and fast paced read! I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I also loved that the texts were included. To those that love sports romance and a female lead who is in LOVE, highly recommend!

This wasn’t my favorite but it also is 100% worth the read. I liked the characters and the enemies to lovers trope vibes, but it just didn’t fully hit for me.
If you’re into college hockey romances with lots of tension, you might enjoy it!
Remember reading is subjective and not everything is for everyone so even if it wasn’t a 5 star for me it absolutely could be for you!

As the second book in the Lakewood University series, it delivers all the drama, suspense, and romance I loved in the first installment. The characters are compelling and multi-dimensional, and the twists kept me hooked from start to finish. Olivia Grace’s writing style is engaging and immersive, making it hard to put the book down. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the series!

Unfortunately not a favourite for me - I love my college romances, in particular sports romances but I struggled with this one.
The writing felt over explained/articulated and I didn’t relate to either character so it made the story hard to invest in.
It’s a fine book, i read it between night shifts so it’s a nice quick and easy read.
As always, grateful for the ARC.

This was way filthier than I expected in the best way. The dirty talk, the consent all of it. So hot. I loved the themes, the communication. It's so good. Devoured it.

After years of being on a toxic hockey team, Willow Rogers transfers to a new school and a new team in Lakewood. When she gets there, she runs into her best friend’s twin brother, the one person she always fights with. As the season goes on, and the two of them get used to being back in each other’s company, their relationship shifts from what they thought was hatred.. to something more.
I loved the second installment of this series. The strong feelings and emotions and experiences described throughout the book was absolutely heart wrenching in the best way, and just so well written. The team’s camaraderie and love for everyone was infectious and I loved reading about the shenanigans they got into in the background of Willow and Jayden’s story.
Thank you to Olivia Grace, the author, for sending me an eARC copy of this book.
