Alpha Enforcer's Forbidden Mate

Rate this book
I woke up with no memory, hunted by shadows, and powers I can't control.

Luminescent markings pulse beneath my skin. An ancient evil wants me dead—or worse, corrupted. And the fierce wolf shifter who saved me? He's hiding secrets about what I really am.

Liam swears he's protecting me, but his pack sees me as a threat. They're right to be afraid.

Because I'm no ordinary woman.

I'm a portal guardian—half-angel, half-fae—sent to protect the gateway between realms. An ancient darkness is spreading through the portals, corrupting everything it touches. If I can't remember who I am and master my powers, every realm falls.

The only thing anchoring me is Liam. His touch silences the chaos. His wolf recognizes something in me that I'm only beginning to understand.

But claiming our bond means facing the truth about my past—and the monster who's been hunting me since before I was born.

Some mates are fated. Ours might be the key to saving all worlds.

Alpha Enforcer's Forbidden Mate is a spicy fantasy romance featuring a half-angel guardian, a fiercely protective wolf shifter, fated mates, portal magic, and an HEA. Book 1 in the Shadow Peak series.

Liam is Beta, a wolf shifter and one third of the leaders of his pack, well at the moment only one half as it is he and his best friend and Alpha Caleb, who currently run and protect their pack. They live in the Colorado mountains, in a magical town of shifters and fae as well as humans. The magic they possess keeps the humans unaware of them which, given the events about to unfold, is a very good thing.

If you are familiar with Skylar Cassidy as an author you may know that she loves to write fantasy, with angelic beings, dragons and shifters. Her stories often feature an enemies-to-lovers trope and come in series so that we can get to know all the characters and embed ourselves in the worlds she weaves. This time the world is one we will most certainly recognise but it is equally one full of magic and surprises.

Liam's wolf pack live in the Colorado mountains and protect the fae portals. When a routine patrol leads him to the nearest one, the scent of a rival pack strong in the air, tinged with blood, he finds Elysia. Alive but clearly injured he takes her back to his cabin, determined to hide her until he can find out who attacked her, why and what the link is with the portal.

What Liam, Elysia (once recovered sufficiently) and the pack do not expect is a fierce battle, one that requires every ounce of their strength and courage. They are going to be fighting evil, magic imbued and enhanced evil. They have no choice. They need to protect their world, the portals and the world of the fae. A large portion of this story helpfully focuses on Elysia's recovery and her relationship with Liam. It is helpful as it provides the opportunity for us to understand more about this new world, about these characters, the threats they face and how the story may evolve.

It is not just about mysterious women, wolf shifters and fae though, there are beautifully magical moments in the forest, family moments, a few laughs and lots of very swoony romance with a few steamy scenes. The whole blends together perfectly and anyone who is a fan of fantasy can't go wrong with discovering Skylar Cassidy and this first title in a promising new series.

Elysia, a Portal Guardian, is sent by Samuel on a mission. When she exits the portal she is set upon by Storm Ridge wolves who are under the influence of a banished Guardian Maelik.

Liam the Beta of the Shadow Peak pack and also protector of the portal, finds Elysia and realises immediately what she is to him. He takes her to a remote cabin to tend to her wounds and find out who this mysterious woman is, and is she a threat to his pack.

They both feel the growing attraction between them. Liam knows that he is going against his Alpha by keeping her a secret, but he can't let anyone know about her especially when she has no memory of who and what she is.

The pack defenses are getting tested by the Storm Ridge wolves, and Caleb has to make a decision knowing his Beta and best friend is keeping information from him.

Eventually, Liam has to come clean about Elysia, she is getting better and some of her memories are returning. Elysia knows she has to defend the portal from Maelik's corruption.

Because of Shadow Peak's history of guarding the portals, Liam discovers his true heritage which allays any doubts he had of being worthy of Elysia. Both have to come together and combine their strength and their love to fight against corruption with the aid of the pack.

I can clearly see from other people's reviews that my experience with the book was different from everybody else's. But this is my honest opinion on the book. The first 10% of the book was amazing caught my attention and had me wanting more. Then from there it just kind of went stagnant for me. It was all Liam saying I should tell my Alpha Caleb but I can't tell him and back and forth with him keeping the secret not saying anything but never stating why he didn't trust his Alpha to tell him the truth. Elysia was injured and tainted by poison. What I don't understand is if she had the ability to teleport why didn't she do that when she was fighting the Shadows wolves. If she had the ability to use the forest and the vines to capture the wolves why didn't she do that when she was in the original fight. The last 25% of the book was really good it was just everything in the middle that just wasn't what I expected. I've never dnf'd and so I didn't want to do it with this. But I will admit that I skimmed over all the intimate scenes Because by the time they got to where they were being intimate I was just ready for the book to be over.

Wolf shifter's fated mate

This is the start of a great wolf shifter/fae series; full of action, attraction, wolf shifters, fae and humans, humor, love, spice and romance.

When Elysia goes to protect a portal she finds an unwelcome party waiting for her. Liam is the Beta of his pack who protect the fae portals. When he scents a rival pack and blood near one he goes to check and is surprised to find an injured Elysia. Realising what she is to him he takes her back to his cabin to help her recover and find out what happened and how she might be connected to the portals.

As they spend more time together they grow close. Liam knows he needs to tell his Alpha about her but keeps her hidden as she has lost her memories. But eventually he needs to come clean and his pack is wary to accept her. With her memories starting to return she realises they will all have to find a way to work together with dark magic threatening the portals and both the worlds of the fae and shifters/humans.

Fae Portals, Angelic Guardians, and Wolf Shifters… Oh My!

Liam, pack beta, stumbles upon a strange woman lying half-dead in front of a portal. Neither know what she is or why she was even at the portal; all he knows is her name’s Elysia and she’s somehow his, pushing him to betray his duties as beta to protect a literal stranger.

A lot happens in this first installment of the Shadow Peak Guardians series, including quests for super secret info that feel more like excuses for nookie, and several incidences of Liam being a dumdum by keeping important info from the people who NEED to know. Luckily, the quests also serve to deliver a whole lot of important background and lore.

Overall this was a good read. Even the parts that slowed down laid a lot of groundwork for the rest of the series. Author Skylar Cassidy is skilled and creating compelling stories and fascinating world building - despite the aforementioned detracting elements, I very much look forward to picking up book 2, which just released. Three stars.

A fated love.

Elysia is an Angel/Fae hybrid whose celestial mission to repair damaged portals in the realm of Tir na Sorcha is threatened after a vicious attack wipes her memory. She is rescued by wolf shifter Liam who risks everything to protect her and neither of them are prepared for the passion that flares between them whilst Elysia struggles to regain her memory and harness her powers. This author’s beautiful, descriptive writing totally immerses you into the story and you can feel the inner turmoil experienced by the characters. Fate has already determined the pathway that Elysia and Liam must follow in order to protect the portals between realms and they must learn to combine their strengths in order to defeat the encroaching darkness. I received an ARC for this book - this is my true and honest opinion.

This book is a great read.
Elysia is sent to protect a portal but things end badly for her due to a welcome party waiting for her.
Liam running through the woods catches scent of her and finds her on the floor covered in blood. He takes her back to his cabin to let her recover and keep her a secret for a bit.
But things start getting bad on the enemy side so he has no choice to come clean.
Liams alpha knows he is hiding something but Liam refuses to tell him until an ultimatum is brought to the table.
Strange markings which glow to how Elysia is feeling. No one knows what they are until she is brought to the pack and the Fae leader. Only then does everything become clear.
Would love to say it’s a happily ever after but there is a bit at the end which hints at a second book so the enemy isn’t defeated just yet!!

What a great story!

There’s a bit of everything in this story, from angels and the fae, to shifters and evil, but most importantly there’s love as well as acceptance. I have to admit, this is the first of Skylar Cassidy’s books I have read, but I can promise that it won’t be the last. This author has a way of wringing every emotion possible out of me while reading this. From feelings of terror to happiness and everything in between. I won’t bring up the plot line in this review, because Skylar does that much better than I ever could, but the emotions and how I felt while reading this…WOW! Even though I’m repeating myself here…what a great story!

Wow, I loved this story. Angelic/Fae and wolf shifters doing battle against a malevolent force who wants to capture Elysia for her powers and take over all the portals. Liam, the Beta of the Shadow Peak pack is prepared to risk everything for Elysia and to help her regain her memories. As the dangers become greater and Elysia's memory returns, the fated mate bond takes on a new and more powerful meaning, one that they hope can stop the evil from taking hold. Great storyline which ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. Lots of drama, some spice and great characters. I can't wait to find out what happens next.

I couldn’t put this down! I love a story with danger and romance and this has that in spades!

The action was intense and had me on the edge of my seat quite a few times wondering how it was all going to play out. I loved the chemistry between Liam and Elysia and the strong bond they shared. All of the Shadow Peak pack were likeable, well apart from Rhea lol. I thought she was going to cause more trouble than she did and I’m glad she didn’t.

The ending had me shouting NO WAY!!!! I love a cliffy and this didn’t disappoint. Really great read and deserving of five stars.

I absolutely loved this book & the fated mates storyline was well written. I have been hesitant lately to read fated mate books because they haven’t given me the warm gooey romantic feeling of an unexplainable bond between two people… but Skylar pulled me right into the story and I was hooked. Great story building. I loved that there was a focus on more than just the main characters & storyline was very well executed. Great book. You won’t be disappointed with this read!

Portal Guardian

Liam finds an injured and partial amnesia inflicted Elysia. Keeping her secret from the pack becomes burdensome, but as her memories return, so does the reason she has been sent. This story as suspenseful, and the added mystery of their intertwined fate was fantastic. It was a remarkable read that was truly enjoyable.

5 stars

The world building, story and characters earned the five stars. Those were good enough to get me to finish the book.
I struggled not to remove a star just because books written in the first person present tense are my absolute least favorite. It’s awkward and it was sometimes hard to figure out which character was speaking. The overall plot continues, but the romance of these two characters is complete. I don’t think I’ll continue this series.

This is a great book. There are many liberties taken in this book, and that just makes it that much better. The story revolves around a guardian who has fae and angel blood running through her and a werewolf who has an angelic bloodline. They are fated mates, too. They are sucessful in accomplishing what they needed to do, but they didn't complete the job. I can't wait to read the next book.

I really enjoyed this romantasy. The characters were really well developed and the storyline was one that kept you reading til the end of the book. This book had my favorite two elements in it: fae and shifters. You just can't go wrong with that combination. I loved this book and can't wait to read more by Skylar!

Another excellent love story in yet another separate but uniquely intertwined world.
Characters from previous books play a guidance roll, while reinforcing interconnected bonds, stretching over realms.
If you love Paranormal and Supernatural wrapped in one package, then this is the start of a great series that will absolutely be a journey not to miss

DNF @ 29%

I don't like characters that keep secrets, especially from their "mate". Throw in the fact that they are both not saying what they think, and then Liam is keeping things from his best friend / alpha...
Then he goes to town and gets aroused by a woman he says he doesn't want??? Um, no.

This is everything that you are looking for in a fantasy romance. You have your alpha hero. You have a strong but vulnerable female. They bond is strong and enforced through adversity. The story flows quickly and there is lots of steamy passion. A good read.

His Angel
From the moment Liam saw Elysia he knew she was meant for him, forever. But was he enough for her? She was so much more than he could imagine and he felt that he had so little to offer. Will fate step in so they can be together?

OMG this was another great story. It was addicted and It was a steamy page turner and the suspense was so intense. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn't even put it down. Portal Guardian Liam now was injured and he had partial amnesia that was in inflicted on Elysia as it was intertwined between fate of the love between the angels and the fae, to shifters with the passion of good vs evil, but most importantly there’s love will be acceptance in this moment. Now they have fight the temptation and the romance of being together. But love will overcome the madness of being with his true love and fate mate in this rollercoaster of drama.
I highly recommend this book and you won't be disappointed. I received advance copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest review. Trina Jones

This book was short and a very quick read. The story flowed easily and the characters were likable (for the most part). The spice in the book was great but didn't take away from the plot at all which is fantastic. It does end on cliffhanger so I am excited for the next book to come out

Fated mates, protect her at all costs, action, suspense, chemistry….I don’t know how the author managed to put all that in one book but she did and it’s fantastic!! The ending had me screaming (well silently screaming because my husband was asleep next to me lol). I could not put this one down! I NEED MORE. I do wish there was a glossary of how to pronounce some of the locations….but that’s just who I am as a reader!

A new spin off world to the Celestial Bonds series? Count me in! The Pack Beta and a mysterious angelic fae get caught in a battle to protect the world - from the Colorado hills! With aspects of pack omegaverse combined with the Celestial Bonds series' fae and angel races, you're sure to devour this book.

This was such an easy read. Fast paced with some twists and familiar faces. If you like thriller, fantasy, and romance, give Alpha Enforcer's Forbidden Mate a read.
