Time Stops With You

Rate this book
Ronan Cullen is a silver-eyed, terminally ill millionaire who blows into my life with two simple words—‘marry me.’

After years of caring for my genius little brother, the kid finally does it—he hacks into a top-secret coding program and lures a reclusive millionaire straight to my door.

Cullen's health is failing and he wants to secure a legacy, but one wide-eyed plea isn’t nearly enough to convince me to become the next Mrs. Cullen.

Even if the request comes from a man with hypnotic eyes, endless wealth, and the power to sweep me off my feet.

Falling for a man marked for death means crossing a line I can’t uncross. And with every moment I spend with Cullen, I feel myself slipping deeper, knowing that no matter how tenderly he holds me, no matter how sweetly he kisses me, no matter how much I crave him…

Ronan Cullen is running out of time.

Love, but be ready for the tears!

Usually, I’ll rate a book, but I won’t leave a comment unless it’s a very, very good book. Yep, this is one of the good ones. This book was excellent and a true romance novel in the best way. That said, my eyes are red and swollen. My nose is stuffy. And, I have a headache. All of this because I was crying throughout the whole book. It is a wonderful story of love between two unlikely people dealing with a harsh reality and knowing they are living on borrowed time. I considered not finishing the book because emotionally it was tearing my heart out, but it was so worth it. I highly recommend, but this is not a lighthearted novel; it is a deeply heartfelt one though. Enjoy!

Now I remember why I stopped reading Nia Arthur books, the women are immature ,exhausting, tired and act like their shit don't stink. And i'm only at 35%. Nardi is an incredibly unlikable woman and the way she stomps around is beyond country acting.

WOW

Having my husband of 34 years go home last year it was easy to understand what Nadia went thru. I still say one more. You handled the grief so very well. Thank you

RATING: 2.25 Stars. BW/WM). Kindle Unlimited 564 page e-book,
SETTING: Contemporary times somewhere in America.
TROPE: Unclear.
MAIN CHARACTERS:
1. Ronan Cullen, male lead, is a multimillionaire, a germaphobe, CEO and founder of Cullen Tech and a lung cancer patient.
2. Nardi Davis, female lead, is a lower middle class Belizean immigrant street vender of Caribbean food.
3. Josiah is Nardi's eleven-year-old genius brother who attends Galilei Newton School for the Scientifically Gifted.
4. Big T is Nardi's neighbor who helps with set up and dismantle her heavy equipment on weekends.
5. Darrel Hastings is a casual acquaintance and neuropsychologist who helps Cullen cope with personal interactions.
6. Jeanna is an associate of Cullen and a person looking for a romantic relationship with him.
7. Cathleen is an administrator and PTA head at school that Nardi's brother attends.

The mechanics of the writing in this story is fine; however for me, the preachiness, the redundancies, the dislikable female lead and its length diminished the story. The author's writings seem intent on reminding the reader that Caribbean/ Black immigrants are industrious, hardworking and smart via Nardi saying things like this, " The moment I came to America, I could do nothing but keep my head down and take people's crap." Nardi left Belize because of a love affair gone wrong and brought her younger brother with her. She worked odd house keeping jobs to get their green cards and to afford Josiah's attending this private prestigious school for scientifically gifted children. It defies belief that Cullen, a highly educated and well connected multimillionaire would consider his legacy to be embodied in a tech savvy unknown child and his sister.

I cried so much sometimes I couldn't read the writing. I have read most if not all of NA's books. I will just say that this one did not disappoint. That being said I realize, since there was an interjection of some of the farmhouse ladies, that there is a sameness to each of these books. Not in each situation of the couples but rather in the lead characters. Almost all of the men are, while brilliant and successful, unusually socially awkward. Meanwhile, the females are almost always financially struggling, and fiercely independent. Most of these females in establishing their fierce independence usually come off as bull headed and just barely likeable. They are happy to point out the rudeness of others toward them while unable to recognize the same trait within themselves. Sometimes they are bigger jerks than the men, which is the case with Nardi.
It seems to always be important to romance authors to establish that the female lead is not interested in the financial relief and benefits of being married to these super rich guys. Well great, but in that case why does the guy always have to be a multimillionaire or a billionaire. Also, I wonder how true that is for a person who can barely pay their rent in a run down apartment, is working two jobs and is barely able to keep their head above water, especially when they have a dependent. A person who recognizes a lifeline and grabs it is not intrinsically bad, and I wish authors would stop trying to make it essential that the female would not get involved with a man who is offering her financial freedom. Many contractual relationships can develop into love and true commitment as a relationship develops.

“i’m glad you don’t like me, nardi. keep that wall between us intact. don’t let it break down any further. it’ll hurt less to bury me if you hate me when i die. you’ll hate me while i fall in love with you. you’ll despise me while i cherish you. seeing that cold look in your eyes will destroy me, but if someone has to get hurt in this, i’d rather it be me.

i had to force myself to put this book down last night bc my sobs were starting to veer into not-able-to-breathe territory. my eyes are puffy but my heart isn’t, bc as emotional as this book was, it still wasn’t the all-encompassing, heart-breaking, or heart-filling story i hoped it’d be.

a large part of that is due to the author’s lack of commitment to certain plot lines and the major issues i had with how invasive some of the side characters were. nardi’s mom and even sunny at times behaved really inappropriately imo, and it got to the point where i started to tense whenever they’d come on page. but the things nia arthurs managed to do right, she did RIGHT.

nardi and cullen were a fascinating pair from inception. the relentless, unapologetic way cullen chose to pursue nardi was everything, and the fact that their dynamic was reversed once nardi finally admitted and accepted her feelings for cullen only made their relationship that much more compelling to follow. i don’t often read closed-door romances, but i knew what i was getting into w. a nia arthurs story. at the end of the day, i actually think it’s a testament to the depth of the connection these two characters have that you don’t feel like you ever miss it, despite how long this book was and how long it took for the relationship to develop. theirs was a love of commitment. the commitment to keep choosing each other over and over, for as long as they had, and regardless of the inevitable devastation.

Emotional Feelings

OMG..this book is AWESOME!! Nia Arthurs....this was MY FAVORITE BOOK! Nardi and Cullen had me "in my feelings" the entire story. The books will DEFINITELY keep you wanting to read more. The truths, lies, deceit, secrets and love in this book. I love how Cullen decided to keep Nardi mad with him to protect her heart. Nardi was determined to take matters into her own hands. Josiah was one smart 11 yr old. He was the light in both their eyes. I cried so much it wasn't funny. Asad, Sara and Dr. Young knew their stuff and was a team to bring new ideas to life. I love seeing how the characters from the other books came together as they do to befriend Nardi and Cullen. The PTA moms were definitely 2 faced , Big T finally got the message about Nardi and Jenna was pathetic . Nardi's mom is the typical Caribbean mom. The Bonus Epilogue was priceless. Can't wait to see what's coming up next.

Truly amazing. Oh my gosh!!!! I’ve been in such a reading slump and I came across this book randomly, and when I tell you IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!!!’ There’s so much to say. Cullen is SUCH a sweetheart omg I just love the way he was written. There is no drama with him and he ALWAYS has had the best intentions with and for Nardi. I also love her as a character. All the characters were written so well and I love that their love was a slow burn. This is my first time reading a book like this. This book gives me “me before you” and “five feet apart vibes” so if you like those movies PLEASE read this. My heart was broken when I thought Cullen died omg it felt like I knew him personally LOL. My heart was SOOOOOOO happy when he came back. Their love for eachother is something I feel everyone should be able to experience in their lifetime (minus the sickness of course). Such a pure, sweet, and funny book. Absolutely adored it.

Nia Arthur’s has done it again

Where to start… First grab a tissue - you’ll need one for sure. Nardi and Cullen’s story is a great addition to the Farmhouse! This one was hard to put down, one moment I’m crying the next I’m laughing followed by shouting. The grief is so real that you feel the ache as if you were the one experiencing it. From stubbornness to love, it makes a complete love story. Round of applause Ms. Nia Arthur’s for another story that is well written and for giving us readers another friend named Nardi and another person support to Cullen. Pretty soon that farmhouse is going to need an upgrade.

All the emotions!

This might be my favorite book of Nia Arthurs. I usually don’t read emotional books because I don’t like to cry but this one has me hooked. I loved the love in this book (platonically, romantically, and familiarly). It really expressed the devastation of loss and love. I was crying for the last 40% of the book and I didn’t mind at all. It will be a book that I will remember! I’m happy that I gave this book a chance, was not disappointed!

Oh dear

This story didn't quite hit the mark. You have Nardi, who was supremely immature and impulsive, and Cullen, who had virtually given up on life. Cullen was pursuing Nardi nonstop, and she reacted by being rude and ungrateful. Nardi's 11 year old brother was the most mature and level-headed person in the bunch.

There were a lot of gaps in the story, and parts of it were not properly explained or tied together to be more cohesive. Very disappointing.

Flawless

This book had me in my feels from beginning to end. Narli & Cullen journey to falling in love took me through all emotions. This book made me respect the time I spend with my loved ones and made me appreciate more the 101 times a day me, my husband and children say I love you to each other everyday without missing a beat. I haha don't like clean romances but this story falls into my top 10 of favorite books.

This was my first Nia Arthur’s book and Ronan Cullen the man that you are 😭 selfless and selfish at the same time.

I enjoyed how there were tears but not too much to where I had to put the book down, and grateful that there was a happy ending.

I do feel like the ending was a bit rushed but all in all I loved it 😭😭😭

Intense BWWM Romance

Be warned, this book has some heart wrenching moments. Keep the tissues handy. It also has insightful reflections on life, love and loss. The characters are well developed and the plot is intriguing. The author adds charm to the story with touches of cultural elements from her native country, Belize.

Okay novel

I usually love Nia Arthurs’ books, but this one was not like her previous books. This one was tedious and it dragged like crazy. I was hate-reading it just to get to the end. I felt there were so many misses in this book. And it was way too long. I’m afraid I’ll be more critical when seeing her new offerings.

I was not prepared for this book to have me weeping 😭😭 This was somehow what I was expecting from this author and also so much more. Already knowing from the blurb that Cullen was terminally ill did not take away from emotional impact in the latter half of the story and honestly it's exactly what I want from a book. I want to feel something and this book delivered.

Time to read, a time weep, a time was had

I am not usually a fan of slow-burn closed door romances but I Nia Arthurs makes them worthwhile. I loved how the MMC was not a hulk of a man but actually described like a sick computer nerd. I was engaged from the beginning to the end. The story was so well written that I felt the grief and loss described as though it were my loved one.

I liked the overall story very much, up until the ending - I thought this was a little weird and took me by surprise, and not in a good way.
I also just didn't really like the main character, I understand struggles and all that, but I really dislike it when people are downright mean just because they've suffered in the past.
And the way the author described a homeless man was so disrespectful, I was in disbelief.

Nia, I absolutely have a love/ hate relationship with you for this one. You had me actually sobbing so much I couldn't read the words through my tears. How could you?!? I must say, I am so glad I read this book. You are phenomenal. If anyone is wondering, you will be blown away and inspired to wish for love like these two characters. I want to go to Belize!!

That was an emotional roller-coaster. I was happy, sad, annoyed, and feeling the love. The characters had a rough road to their hea. I loved every minute of it and found it hard to put the book down. The book is well-written and the characters well developed. Great book to enjoy.

This was SUPER cute!! Cried my eyes out towards the end… but him coming back and being alive felt almost rushed? And the fact that he wasn’t cured and the book ended happily but with us knowing he would die in 1-5 years kinda ruined the vibe for me??
