🎯 Nowhere left to run – the ravine was supposed to be their way out, but Marcus has turned it into a death trap. 💥 A new player enters the game – heavily armed and highly organized, they have their own agenda—and no one is safe. ⏳ Jake makes a final stand – as gunfire erupts, one man must risk everything to buy the others time.
The endgame is here. Betrayals will be exposed, blood will be spilled, and the survivors must make their last, desperate break for freedom. But even if they escape the city, what waits beyond?

⚠️ If you love high-stakes, action-packed survival fiction, dive into Blackout Nation by the author of AMERICA FALLS now!
We finally learned who set off the EMP. This is the last book in the first season.

Note to self. This is the one where they shoot the dog.
Liam crawled to his dog, gathering the animal's head in his lap. All his earlier mania had drained away, leaving something broken behind. “Just go,” he whispered, not looking at them. “None of it matters now.” His fingers stroked Kaiser's blood-matted fur with terrible gentleness. “He was all I had left. The only one who understood.” 😭
Granted, this is the bad guy’s dog, and they really didn’t have a choice. But did the author have to hurt my heart like that?

This finale mainly focused on Marcus chasing the other characters and trying to finally catch up to them. There wasn't really much plot progression other than meeting another character who had his own issues.
I did like the tense fighting scenes. They really showcased how thr main characters have such good connections that they're able to create solid plans and then carry them out.
Marcus's POV added some interesting chapters and I liked cliff hanger ending
I just wish I’d found it after it had been completed. This is the final “episode” of this season or in literary terms, end of book 1.
I can see how the writing format could be a challenge for the author but as a reader I find it frustrating. I can also guarantee that had this not been available on KU I wouldn’t have read it.
This “episode” brings more information to the survivors about who may be responsible for the EMP attacks, despite how improbable that “bad guy” is. Additionally, it doesn’t explain how Marcus got his information on who might be responsible.
Despite that it’s still a high octane read. Presumably there will be another mini series to follow.
Blackout Nation Episode 5 is the conclusion to season one of Blackout Nation and finds Jake, Sarah, Maya, Devon and Pete facing both the Russian forces and Marcus' men. The characters don't really gain much dimensionality in this Episode, its non-stop chase action. No spoilers, but I'll say I'm greatly looking forward to Season 2! 4/5 stars. Perfect for someone looking for an EMP survival thriller in small pieces at a time!
4 stars ⭐️ This is the end of the novella series on the EMP thriller and I feel like it had some great action in it but it really could have been better. Great plot and action through every novella for the series but I’m a person that needs more, I feel like it just ended a little too quickly and it was getting really good.
They are lured to a hide way by a convict and his dog. Although injured they escape only to be followed by Marcus. Following a culvert they escape when the Russians arrive.
These short books were filled with action and the characters were all great. The issue I have is I don’t want to read 40-50 page books in a “season” and then wait for the next season like a TV show. I prefer to wait until a complete series is written and then read it in its entirety.
Is there another Season? Can’t just leave it with Sarah and Jake wondering. I guess we will just have to see what comes along. Nice little series, Scott.
