Decent OV story, BUT…

(Spoilers ahead)

I almost never write book reviews, but I feel I have to for this one. I’d give this book more stars, because it’s a good story - interesting plot and characters, good spice, etc - but that ending…ugh. So abrupt and left a lot of unanswered questions. I couldn’t, in good conscience, give it more than 2 stars. It felt like only half the story was told and then the ending was so rushed it actually made me angry. It’s like the author reached the high point of the story and then decided she didn’t want to write it anymore, so she just threw in a one page epilogue - one year later - that resolved NOTHING. There could have been another hundred or more pages about Marnie’s rescue, her reunion with the pack, her recovery, the MMCs’ recovery, dealing with the press about both her kidnapping and ties to the cult, her horrible roommates having to face the consequences for what they did (and providing reasons for why they seemed to hate her so badly they would not only turn the whole team against her but then arrange her kidnapping like that), bonding with the rest of the pack, the trial, etc etc etc. The author barely even scratched the surface with the MMCs’ back stories and the pack members’ relationships with Marnie solidifying when her heat started and she was kidnapped, and then BOOM…story ended. I don’t think the pack name was even stated in the story itself. Really disappointed in this one. I’ve already read the first 2 books in this series, and while they were kind of rushed endings too, they weren’t like this one. I honestly don’t know if I even want to finish this series now.

where’s the ending

This book is great and then suddenly it ends out of nowhere. Where is the conflict resolution. I was eating this story up and then suddenly my plates empty….

Too short and undeveloped, with room for potential

This book was filled with potential, and, had it been longer, it would have been incredible. However, the themes were underdeveloped, the characters less fleshed out than they should’ve been, and the ending was majorly disappointing.

*spoilers* There is no true happy ending here, nor is there an actual heat.

Well, that’s a lie, there is a heat, but it’s suffered alone, behind prison walls, with none of the expected comfort or cuteness you can expect from omegaverse books. It’s awful.

There is no true resolution to this story, and what answers we do get are hastily thrown together and depressing - a trial doesn’t equal a conviction or justice, and she spent a year of misery ahead of it. My recommendation to the author would be to spend more time with this book, develop the characters, and especially, provide a satisfying ending. I’m not sure whether I’ll be reading any more of her books until then.

I think the author couldn't be bothered to write anymore

This is hands down the worst, most abrupt and dissatisfying ending to any book I've read. I'm not exaggerating at all when I say less than 10 pages were given to wrap up complex backstory antagonists and we don't really see much of it. There's just an impression of what probably happened but no real resolution. Adding insult to injury, she takes one of the most impressive FMCs and reduces her to a college dropout who never leaves home. It would be less annoying if the characters and base storyline weren't so good but this author just lets herself down by pushing out poor quality at warp speed and leaving so much potential on the table.

Needed a longer ending

I was hooked and happy reading this book until it got to the end. It felt like the end to a chapter not the end to the book. It didn't go over her recovery, her reuniting with her pack, what happened to her room mates, etc. It was just rushed liekt he author was tired of writing and just said done. It's a shame because it was good. If her next book has a similar ending I won't be reading anymore by this author. Nothing worse than getting hooked on a story just to have it abruptly end.

2 stars purely bc wtf was that ending????? It’s like the author got to the climax of the story and was like ya I don’t feel like writing anymore, fuck y’all. I’ve never been more pissed at a book.

Good Read

That’s was both sad, frustrating, and so sweet.

Sad for her background, and the drama that unfolds, frustrating because of the mean girl bull, and so sweet because her guys are the best!

This was a quick read and it was a really good one.

I was torn between giving this book either two or three stars… It had so much potential. It had a very solid beginning. But there are so many loose threads to this story. It’s like the author quit and decided she didn’t want to keep going. I don’t understand this Sudden climax at the very end of the book with no real resolution. And we don’t get all of the MMC’s together with her. This is supposedly a pack romance, but only one member for the pack actually bonds with her. We don’t know what happened after she’s rescued. That epilogue told us nothing. We don’t know what happened with her roommates who apparently set her up and are the reason she was captured by the cult she had originally escaped. We don’t know anything at that ending. And where was her happy ending because she didn’t seem very happy in that final epilogue. In fact, she seemed to have gone backwards, immensely from where she was at the very beginning of the story. If the author had said that there was going to be a follow up book, it would have gone so far in making this a better story but at this point it sounds like this is the end and yet the story isn’t over.

Good story…..

The story has a really compelling plot and pulls you in right away. I enjoyed the premise, but parts felt a bit rushed, especially with character development. I wanted to see more of the ups and downs in the protagonist’s journey and how the pack and its members built their bonds with her.

Some details were a bit unclear, such as the pack’s actual purpose, the identity of the head alpha, the name of the pack (only visible on the tile), and the development of the courtship. The ending also felt abrupt, transitioning from intense punishment to recovery very quickly. It would have been great to see more of the protagonist’s growth and how she coped with the aftermath of the kidnapping. Additionally, it would have been interesting to explore how the pack handled the situation and whether they were able to bond with her after the trauma.

Overall, it’s a strong story with a great foundation — adding more depth to the characters and relationships would make it even more powerful.

Another book in this series that I really enjoyed.

It wasn’t quite as good as the 1st in this series as I felt like the author/s didn’t quite pull off the “escaped from a cult” aspect. She knew how to do way too many things for someone who has been locked on a religious compound her entire life, has only been allowed out for volleyball games (also weird?), was only allowed to read religious books and not watch tv. She just instantly knew how to catch buses and taxis, knew how to shop and pay, knew how to activate bank card and how to operate a brand new smart phone. Then the twins took her on a date to meet one of her favourite movie stars and authors … even though she wasn’t allowed to watch tv or movies or read books on the compound? These things let it down and jarred me out of the story periodically.

We also had another abrupt ending. Nowhere near as abrupt as the 1st book, but it still could have been fleshed out more.

All in all though, I enjoyed the story and I’d read the rest of the series.

I have been on streak reading this a whole series in order. I loved just about every minute of until I got the last chapter of this book. It just ended. She was taken, she was found, the leader of the cult is now on trial, book done. I have so many unanswered questions. How did the find her? What were her injuries from being taken? What happened to her roommates for basically instigating the kidnapping? What happens to the rest of the people who took her? Does she bond with the rest of her potential pack? And don’t get me started on her dropping out of school; that felt very uncharacteristic of her. It’s like the author got tired of writing her story and just stopped. She needs to write an extended epilogue to wrap up all the loose ends. If I want left hanging with all my questions I’d give this book a higher rating.

Great beginning, but poor ending

The book is decent, with a great storyline. I felt though that some things were rushed. The characters seemed to develop well, except for the twins. The ending was horrible. It was so rushed and and honestly regretting purchasing. This is the second book she wrote for this series, and don’t think I will read the third. The first book was just as bad. The2nd, 4th, and 6th books I will read just based on the second book alone. That author is great and actually finishes her books to give a good ending with no questions about the end. Sorry, but not sorry. This author shouldn’t be in a rush.

Good until the end, which just stops.

This is the second book I've read by this author in the series and, unfortunately, they both have the exact same problem. The ending just cuts off. The action goes on, Marie is rescued, and then it's over. There's an epilogue that doesn't help at all. In fact, it takes so much away from the book that it's ridiculous. I am so disappointed at everything I missed in this "ending." It's lazy writing. If the author didn't want to take the time to write the end, she shouldn't bother to write the book. I'm extremely disappointed and won't be reading the rest of the series.

what did I just read

No, honestly what did I just read?

I felt like I was reading half a book by that ending…

I know I skimmed a lot but still.

While yes Marnie slept with every pack member she only Bonds Kincaid… by the end of the book.

And that epilogue did nothing to make me feel better about the ending.

Honestly, this probably was a regular contemporary story but was went back through to make it more omegaverse.

Author should write a part two for this book. So we get a good ending.

Great story until it wasn’t

I really loved this story. Marnie and her pack were super cute and I loved how the relationships were developing. But then like others said it just kind of ends. She gets rescued but you never see her again with the rest of the pack so those relationships don’t become solid and there’s no resolution with the roommates just a barely one page epilogue. This needs at least a few more chapters at minimum so it doesn’t feel like the author got tired of the story and so just wrote that epilogue and washed her hands of it.

What is the deal with the endings in this series?

Solid writing, empathetic characters, not a lot of background or growth of characters but in shorter books you get that and you deal. BUT what is with the ending of the story immediately following the climax of the story?? This ending was ridiculous. Spoilers. Kidnapped, beaten, rescued and then a lame epilogue where she stops playing volleyball all in the span of 3 pages? Come on do better for those that actually get invested. Seriously, what happened to the bullies?

what an odd ending

Pretty good read until last 10-15%. FMC had only bonded to one alpha, went on dates with 2 others but really no relationship building beyond that. Would’ve liked more info on all characters (including why the team kept whispering about her, why they all hated her etc) and seriously.. the ending was just the oddest I think I’ve ever read. No closure just “I have scars and this is my life now”. It felt more like a cliffhanger than an ending but there isn’t another book for this pack. Very unsatisfying.

I really enjoyed this book. From the very beginning, I was rooting for Marnie. She had a ton of baggage to deal with after growing up in a cult, but she was a great character.

I loved her pack! They were such a great combination of men, and each one was exactly what Marnie needed at different times.

This would have been a 5 star read but for the ending. It was extremely abrupt and felt like a lot was missing, and/or could have been added to complete the story.

I am so in love with this series, and am so excited for the next one. The FMC is running away from a cult. I am angry because her roommates call the cult and have them come kidnap her all because she is better than them. People like that are why I hate people. I think the ending was a little messy. It went right from getting saved to one year later. I think she should have just added the bonding at least. I loved the book but wish there was more to the ending.

Ending not up to par

I rarely write a review because who am I to judge someone’s writing. I know what I like and some offer it and some don’t, but that’s not the author’s fault.
Saying all of that
The ending was lacking closure.
Spoilers
What happened to the girls that turned her in? How did her men handle the aftermath? Soooo many unanswered questions. Is this a duet? Will we get the closure? Unsure!!!!

NO RESOLUTION - RUSHED ENDING

spoilers:

Seriously, a 1 page epilogue that wrapped up nothing. i don't know if the author was in a rush for a deadline or had a wordcount limit but it feels like there are multiple chapters missing at the end.
Minimal nesting (seriously it's one line about her stealing their clothes). No actual heat. She only bonds one out of five pack members in the story. Where's the rest of it? I feel like I only got 2/3rds of the book.

kinda disappointed

I loved the first 2 books in this series this one though while I did like it I felt like it wasn’t long enough and was very rushed she didn’t even get to bond with all her guys just 1 and we wouldn’t know the packs official name if it wasn’t for the title of the book. I’m disappointed but I’ll definitely be reading the next book when it comes out.

Usually, I don't rate two stars for any book, but this one really deserves two stars. Story line could have been way better. There was so much potential, but book disappointed me like hell. It felt that it has been rushed like a bullet train. I could not connect to the leads. It could have been much more interesting if the plotlines would have been rechecked.

Nope, the author needs to develop more the story, because the last chapters are terrible. It's ok to write a novella, but it needs to have a sense, not just writing a good start, throw inside some drama and fuck the finale. I'm not giving 1 star just because there was some potential in the beginning.

Wonderful story until about 97% in!

I'm frustrated! This was a really great story, until the end. Th last chapter was rushed and there was not a lot of closure. Marine found her pack but only actually bonds with one of them on the page. The team? Her roommates? What happened to the rest of the story? Seriously, it would have been a 5 star read had it actually resolved things.

2.75 ⭐️Marnie being raised in a cult and escaping that cult to go to college was a really interesting plot line and this book could easily been 5 stars if it was longer! It was so captivating but had a massively unsatisfying conclusion due to it being so short. Even just 50 more pages could have gave a satisfying conclusion to many plot holes and loose ends.

Ugh! I hate giving bad reviews and the first 3 books in the series were great but this one is rushed, spelling errors, no table of contents, and every chapter is over before it really began. If felt like pages and pages were missing. Even including the epilogue which just left u with more questions than answers. This could have been an amazing story- the premise was there but that was it….

that ending 😒👎🏾👎🏾

I really liked the book until the end. The story ends abruptly and traumatically, it’s not a cliffhanger but it’s definitely left me with questions. It was so rushed and the that epilogue was also mid and left with more questions; I think what bothers me is that it was a really good story and and then I felt like the ending was just thrown at me.

I loved this book. Her awkwardness was so cute and endearing. I love how she kept running into them. Her roommates were terrible and I can’t believe that they called her family. The pack was so cute and the twins were funny because she could tell them apart just by facial expressions. I was shocked that she was held for so long before being found but she got home safe.

Initially great

I loved the build up in the story with Marnie finding her pack. But the end in was shockingly short with not really much conclusion. It feels like it’s missing a part of the story. Or the author gave up on writing it. Wouldn’t recommend this one, which is a shame as loved the others.
