Borrowed Chaos: A Paranormal Women's Fiction Urban Fantasy
Megan has lost the dragon mage Enfys to Mordred.
Now she has only a short amount of time before she must present Enfys for a wellness check with the Irish dragon queen. Consumed with guilt and fear, Megan has to find the dragon mage, free her, and hope that she is forgiven before the Irish queen decides Megan is only good for a tasty snack when her highness is feeling hangry.
Only nothing is easy. Especially when you throw in a few Faerie pirates—things tend to go sideways when you least expect it.
To make it easier on herself, Megan has also agreed to a temporary truce with Merlin. He’ll stop constantly reminding her she’s human, and she won’t poke him with Excalibur every time he opens his mouth. It’s a start.
Meanwhile, Sorcha is upset, the bounty hunter’s guild needs both of them to keep working, and Megan’s back to the question of how she’ll find an ancient Fae mage, who now has a magical dragon, across all the splinters of reality.
Merlin’s magic and her own borrowed magic better be enough, otherwise this is going to be a very short quest. Dragons, besides being a girl’s best friend, are grumpy at best, and utterly merciless at worst.
Megan knows she’s tasty, she just doesn’t want it proven posthumously.

What a fantastic book.
I love Urban fantasy. I love bigger than life characters and fast paced, exciting story telling. This series hits everything I desire in a book.

Phewww I was spiralling between fits of laughter, despair, in awe of Dana's magical creative magical bombs, etc, and sure as hell had an exciting time reading. Deadly magical cuffs racked up everyone's tension as well as the dragon fights. Just as I thought at last Mordred was finally captured, the jail break, with the Guild fired to smithereens. Let's not forget the mind blowing revelation of Merlin and the kiss at the end. All boxes ticked once again. Got to love this series.

We’ve come to the second book in this series, and poor Megan is pretty much running on empty with everything going on. Her and Merlin are on a peaceful track, and they are on the hunt for Enfys, but nothing goes as planned. This is a great addition to the series, and while it’s slightly a little too much tell instead of show, I enjoyed every minute of this latest. I am ready to see what comes next for Megan, Merlin, Sorcha, and all their friends in the next installment. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

I loved Borrowed Chaos -- It's is the perfect follow-up to Borrowed Amulet! Megan and Goch are back for another adventure, and it was a good one.

Goch, Megan, and Merlin are all growing as characters and I love where everything is going. Some good stuff happens, some bad stuff happens, and we're left with a fantastic ending for a book two. Not everything is resolved, but we're at a great place for the next book.
One thing I like about this series is how Megan's grief is dealt with - as a reader, it's pretty much Goldilocks. It's not rushed and it's not glossed over. Nothing takes away from the great story, and the time is spent with it that feels realistic for the characters.

What a great and exciting start to this book! I'm so thoroughly enjoying this spin-off series all about Megan and her dragon Goch. She left a huge mark on me in the original series, Splintered Magic, where she's the bestest friend anyone could have. Her support, her love, her protectiveness of her friend Brigid is unparalleled, her exuberance is contagious, her pain at losing the love of her life, heartbreaking. Yes, a whole host of emotions course through me about Megan, which Jill has captured superbly. In fact, ALL the characters are constructed with flair, with care, with skill, so very likeable, so very fleshed out. And then there's Merlin....yes, MERLIN Merlin, who is soooooo misunderstood by Megan that she'd rather disregard him, rather loathe him, rather avoid him than look within herself. And I can't help adoring Merlin, ok, so he's arrogant, he's all knowing, he's said some really dreadful things to Megan but besides the truce they have in place, the bigger problem is Mordred, he has Enfys and they need to get her out Mordred's evil clutches and neferious plots, so, with the clock ticking before the Irish dragon queen unleashed her wrath on Megan, they have to work together. Well, that's not the only reason, Megan feels very guilty that Enfys WAS taken, WAS enslaved yet again, when she had promised never to let that happen again. Yeah, unsurmountable pressure and guilt abound even though, technically, it really wasn't Megan's fault. And poor Sorcha, once part of the king's personal guard and now a bounty hunter like Megan, is just as devastated at Enfys' abduction, Sorcha was her dragon and rider, an aspiration that was realised for a very short time.
I really loved the tone of this book, the wonderful quick banter and unforced impeccably placed humour, together with the drama, action and tension, I'm all gooey inside one minute, the next I'm gnawing at my nails! The plot unfolds brilliantly, each piece of the building blocks placed to perfection. The pacing was so great, it ebbed and flowed beautifully, never allowing me to get complacent. I love a visually descriptive book and Jill always delights me, I get to "see" it all. Experiencing what the characters do, feeling their emotional turmoil, witnessing them being played like a fiddle, through all the potholes they face, watching them stumble, watching them dust themselves off, seeing them push forward through incredible odds, well heck, this entire world comes alive under Jill's expertise. I really enjoyed the build up to the story, the build up of the tension, the relationships and warmth they exude. Besides Brigid and Lugh, and Dana and Mr Mittens, there's also Milkdud, the coolest baby unicorn on the planet! But mostly I do adore Goch and Megan. Both have grown throughout the series beautifully and their relationship is gorgeous, their bond unquestionably strong, so pure it's, well, just beautiful!
So many pulse racing moments, I swear I in danger of a coronary, interspersed with warm and sweet ones and a couple of really teary ones too! Oh glory did I have a jaw wobble, blinking furiously to relieve the "film" that suddenly settled over my eyes moment, when the normally suave, confident Merlin, turns into an uncertain and bashful Merlin, awesome awesome awesome! What was also awesome was all the red herrings, the crumbs Jill left a trail of did not lead where I thought they would, she took me to paths well hidden, she made same jaw drop in disbelief when Merlin, when Enfys.... yeah, no can tell...but FREK!!! And when there are the dragon queens who surprised the socks off me! I do adore Goch and Megan. Both have grown throughout the series beautifully and their relationship is so gorgeous to behold. And that's the amazing way Jill reels me in, giving me a concoction of incredible events that are so engaging, I'm beyond hooked on her books!
Action, check... fast paced, check...awesome banter check...magnificent worlds, check... Arthurian influence, check... betrayals, found family, dragons, fabulous creatures, excellent plot, swoony ending, check .. check..check..check! So, once again, Jill nailed it!

She’s snarky, grumpy, and WILL decapitate you with Excalibur! Enjoy this read, I definitely did! Absolutely 10/10

Megan has lost the dragon mage, Enfys, to Mordred. Now she must figure out how to save her before her mother finds out and possibly eats her. But nothing will easy, and Megan must keep her truce with Merlin and do her best to actually be nice to him. So they all must come up with a plan to not only get Enfys back, but to capture Mordred all while keeping innocent people safe.
This was another fun book in this series! Megan is still struggling with her grief over Luke being gone., but after a surprising (to her at least) revelation, she is finally starting to see that there is life after Luke. She is able to look back and see where she was mistaken. I love her resiliency and ability to function in the supernatural world as a human. She never lets a silly like not having her own magic stop her and uses her "borrowed" magic. Goch is also an amazing character. In the short time we've seen him in these few books, he has grown from a teenage dragon into a diplomatic, confident teenage dragon. I love the friendship that Megan and Goch have. Merlin is also starting to worm his way into Megan's heart and now that she is seeing him in a different light, we get to as well! He's not been the jerk we thought!
This book has a little bit of everything! There are some emotional breakthroughs, friendship bonding moments and definitely some high stakes! There are magical fights, dragon riding, new magical "equipment" (I wish I had some magic balls with a paintball gun!), and the humor is great! I mean, I still giggle every time I read magic balls. This is such an easy, quick read and I am loving this whole series! I can't wait to find out what happens next! (I also really need to get to the Splintered Realms series because this makes me want to jump right into that one as well.)

This is book two in the Splintered Realms paranormal urban fantasy series, and it was full of all the fun, magic, excitement, and action I enjoyed with the first book. The book picks up with Megan, a Guild bounty hunter, and her red dragon, Goch, on the trail of crafty pirates and their treasure, only to find the task more difficult than anyone anticipated. This assignment was a favor to the Guild, as most of the other bounty hunters were out looking for a big score by capturing Mordred, the most wanted criminal wanted by the Guild. Megan, who has a violent and deadly history battling Mordred, knew she was destined to be the bounty hunter to capture, return him to the Guild for justice, and receive the huge reward. With the help of Merlin and her other allies, Megan sets off on her dangerous quest, only to find Mordred mysteriously one step ahead of her at every turn. The final battle sequence was brilliantly composed and cleverly written.
I enjoyed reading this urban fantasy and the continuing story of Megan and her companions. The plot was well-written, action-packed, suspenseful, and thrilling. The interactions between the characters were full of emotional sentiment, ranging from love to hate, making this a spellbinding story. The author did add some surprises, which added to the story’s entertainment. I would recommend this book, and series, to all who enjoy this genre. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader's Copy of this book.

This series has it all heroine overcomes , dragons magic Mystery humour Adventure romance
Megan always been my favorite charcter her love of dragon riders of Pern books I grew up reading and her becoming a real dragon rider then defying odds over coming grief of loss of Luke and becoming a badass and loyal friend with fun mischievous side. Who wouldn't want to be like her or route for her. This series been great from dragons , fae magic legend of and real life Merlin lady of lake etc Mr muffin . Sorcha and other fighting battles to save mage dragon . it just great book when you finish and it is one you stay up all night to finish you want more. That is highest complement I can give any bo

This is Book 2 in the series and I would recommend starting with Book 1 or you will feel lost for most of this book. Plenty of action, magic, and highs and lows in this one. The series continues to be written in first person from the Megan's, fmc, viewpoint. You will definitely see plenty of character development from book 1. For not only the bipedal characters (human, fae, etc) but with the dragons too. The primary drivers in this book were to free Enfys and capture Mordred. This required realigning with previous acquaintances - the hard way - as well as bringing more of the team in to assist. Actually, a bit of romance comes into the story - surprisingly for Megan. Pretty major occurrences set up book 3 but there is not a cliffhanger.

Megan has managed to get the dragon mage, Enfys, as a companion for Sorcha with the provision that Enfys reports back to the Irish dragons once a month. There is just one small(?) problem, Enfys has been captured by Mordred.
With a temporary truce with Merlin, who has let Megan know that he has been attracted to her since they met, they team up with Lugh and others to get the dragon back.
This book has some action, intrigue, suspense, magic and humour.
It’s an easy reading book that adds so much to the series. The relationship between Megan and Merlin is changing, the enchantress, Dana, is making some amazing magic balls. Paintball guns are in use.
This is another series that gets better with each book.

This was an action packed story with a few surprising additions, but I won't talk about them because I don't want to spoil it.
There was also the expected love interest which I knew was coming and I can't say that I am happy about it, too predictable.
I really wish Megan's character was deeper, currently very shallow and we still don't know anything about her except the loss of Luke, her love for adventure, dragon fighting and having Dana create magic balls for her. Literally no depth.
I did enjoy Mr. Mittens in this story as usual.
The author could have left out all the back story from the splintercat series, it was not necessary.
Overall though a good read and I will read the next one.

Action packed and heart tugging emotions
Wow, this latest book in the series grips hold of you and doesn’t let go - you just won’t want to stop reading until the end!
Mordred needs to be defeated and destroyed, but achieving that is easier said than done, especially after he stole Enfys away. Megan, Merlin and the others are determined to save Enfys and will go to any lengths to do so.
This book is packed full of non-stop action. At the same time the relationship between Megan and Merlin is explored further, as she still struggles to recover from losing Luke, and attempts to learn to trust Merlin.
I just HAD to know how the book ended and now cannot wait for more!

Mordred needs to be defeated and destroyed, but achieving that is easier said than done, especially after he stole Enfys away. Megan, Merlin and the others are determined to save Enfys and will go to any lengths to do so.
This book is packed full of non-stop action. At the same time the relationship between Megan and Merlin is explored further, as she still struggles to recover from losing Luke, and attempts to learn to trust Merlin.
I just HAD to know how the book ended and now cannot wait for more!

The truce between Merlin and Megan could just possibly hold. Each has taken a new perspective and lesson in humility. Wit and humor add depth to these characters. There could even be sparks of a different sort. Enfys must be rescued as Sorcha is not herself without her dragon, although not driven to either madness or tantrums. However, Mordred is determined and evil, utilizing every tool to thwart the would-be heroes. I'm imagining myself falling from a very high roof, completely at the mercy of Goch and my borrowed magic. Good story!

I have increasingly loved the novels with these characters from the initial stories centred around Megan's best friend and her cat to this new series based round Megan herself. As for Jilleen's series co-authored with Heather G Harris I find the wait for the next novel in the series interminable and really struggle to combat my impatience. It's usually no more than a month so I will survive.

Foiled again
The hunt for Mordred is on after he used Megan's amulet to brain wash the dragon mage Enfys. Now Megan, Merlin, and their friends have to find them, rescue Enfys, and capture Mordred all before the queen dragon decides to kill them for letting Enfys be enslaved. The characters are fun and well written and the storylines are full of action, magic, and tension as you get immersed in the book and can't wait to see how everything turns out. I am now going to dive into the next book in the series and see how things get resolved.

Enfys rider Sorcha is heartbroken when she discovers her soul Dragon has been captured. Trying to rescue Enfys from the sorcerer Mordred is a lot harder than it looks. Megan teams up with Merlin to try to rescue Enfys but they run into strange obstacles along the way. In between trying to rescue Enfys, Megan goes home to visit Mr Mittens and her friends. So great to hear how they are all doing.

OMG this second book is so good! Megan has a temporary truce with Merlin whilst they hunt down the dragon mage Enfys whose been taken by Mordred. Of course nothing goes to plan as we jump back in, feet first to join in the hunt and embark on this magical adventure and once started, I could not put this down. Brimming with twists and turns, incredible world building and some fantastic intriguing characters, this was emotional and captivating and I cannot wait for book three!

Jilleen not only provides the above but ensures a good gripping storyline, strong friends to support and the right level of evil opponent.
Megan and the teenaged dragon and marrying in their relationship and their might just be a hint of understanding and thawing between her and Merlin.
Always a case of started so I’ll finish when reading these stories.

Wow, this is another book that fit right in. I will admit not having read book one I was ready for whatever this author threw at me. I couldn’t stop reading, I was engrossed from the start to the finish I did not see (though I should have done) coming. I loved it, cannot wait for book three to see what happens. Highly recommended.

Try to track down Mordred and free the dragon mage, Enfys. Wonderful story with great descriptions and characters that let you envision what is happening. Another good story! Like most good books it has an interesting and entertaining storyline that draws you in and keeps your interest until the end.

This book has it all, adventure, magic, dragons, the impossible made possible with a touch of romance.

This was even better than the first. I still love Goch. I would definitely adopt him, were he an orphan. There were a lot of tense moments. I won't give the plot away. I'll just say it was a very good read.

Great series! This installment continues the fight to defeat Mordred (yes, THAT Mordred). Lots of action, fast paced, dragons, magic, multiple worlds, even romance! I highly recommend, and can’t wait for the next one!

Megan and her team of dragons and magicians are still chasing the evil Mordred . But he is always two steps ahead of them and life turns to chaos repeatedly. I love these stories and always look for the next In the series.
