A pre-birthday gift turns into a life and death nightmare for investigative San Juan Islands reporter Adele Plank, testing the limits of her sanity and toughness as she struggles to make sense of it all even as a new enemy seeks to take advantage of her suddenly fragile state.
ROLAND'S LAMENT is Book #12 of the ongoing and bestselling San Juan Islands Mysteries by local island author, D.W. Ulsterman. _________ "I love this series. When I start reading each book I can't put them down." -Vickie/Amazon 5-star review "The most amazing series ever! When you read these books, you are taken to the San Juan Islands and the main characters become your best friends. Exciting, suspenseful, a little scary, and books you just can’t put down." -Melvena Scholl/Amazon 5-star review __________
Book #1: The Writer Book #2: Dark Waters Book #3: Murder on Matia Book #4: Rosario's Revenge Book #5: Roche Harbor Rogue Book #6: Turn Point Massacre Book #7 Deadman Island Book #8: The Truthing Tree Book #9: The Book of Bloodbone Book #10: The Walking Ones Book #11: Anacortes Haunting Book #12: Roland's Lament
I read this way too fast. I was so drawn in by this book that I read it too fast and now I have to find something else to read 😂. Can’t wait for the next book!
In typical Ulsterman fashion he sucks you right into the thick of things… again the preservation of the islands and the island life is at stake… the Old Russian threat is at it again and this time he is serious. Engaging a slick business man to do his dirty work.
Like the other books there is the immediate plot and then there is the ongoing undercurrent of protecting the island at all cost using all the power the islands can unleash!
I love the characters, I’m so familiar with them that they bring me comfort and make the reading effortless. Until one of them is in mortal danger!
Well written, intricate motives and fast paced action with so many secrets. What’s not to love?
Another wonderful read by DW Ulsterman. Roland's Lament takes us onto the mainland to Concrete. It once again reminds us of the difference between the mainland and the San Juan Islands. The scene shifts back and forth from San Juan Island to Concrete to the island to Seattle back to the islands several times. A choice is made and everyone has to live with the result of that choice. The story continues. D.W. Ulsterman is one of my favorite writers. Each book is an easy read and eventually we go back up to the islands to find the items referenced! Win win all around, a good read and a fun trip! I recommend this series to everyone that comes to visit Washington state.
Another interesting storyline with Adele, Roland, Lucas and the rest of the island's caretakers are battling Vlad Vasa and those who are trying to take over the islands.
Roland and Adele are flying in a newly purchased helicopter when it crashes into the sea and they nearly die. Adele has dreams where Bloodbone visits her regarding her future. She doesn't want to accept what he is telling her will happen.
I won't give any more away but I am still enjoying this series even if each book doesn't move the story forward too much.
book 12 seemed like I waited anxiously for a long time.
Well worth the wait? I just absolutely adore this series. The plot, characters, set and setting wrap around me in full tapestry of all that came before, with the glint of threads to come and partial blending of up to now and possibilities to come.
I just can't get enough of Ulsterman's literary world. I love each and every book he's written. I especially enjoyed visiting Concrete, a town I've heard many stories of, and visited once with said stories on my mind.
I hung in there too long, I guess, hoping all this outlandishly fairytale stuff was going to go away. I fell for it! But this dead Roland coming back to life was just too much.....I'm out!
If you like intrigue and great characters, in idyllic setting, you'll like this book. Ulsterman has given his characters great personas that makes you take a side; you love them or love hating them. It's classic good vs evil. I can't wait for the next one to be released.
I am really enjoying this author. This is#12 of the series and I feel I would know the characters it the books if I saw them on the street. Can't wait to find out what happened next.
