Who even believes in love at first sight anymore? Certainly not me.

At thirty-five, I thought I’d never find love and was perfectly fine with it. My life was fulfilling—running my own business and enjoying casual flings whenever I felt like it. But the day I went to pick up my favorite coffee, she caught me off guard—spilling hot coffee on my chest. And just like that, everything changed.

I didn’t know her name, her story, or if she was married. All I knew was that I had to make her mine. Later I found out that she comes with a lot of baggage. A single mom starting over in my small town, she wasn’t ready for a new relationship. She also carried scars from her previous marriage, making her wary of trusting anyone again.

Yet, when have I ever backed down from something I truly wanted?

Violet is everything I never thought I would want. She is gorgeous, a devoted mother to her boy, and everyone in town loves her. I’m sure I am not the man she thought she would fall in love with, but I might finally get the chance to say the words I’ve never dreamed of… I want to spend the rest of my life Loving Violet.

Loving Violet by Maria Esther
4/5⭐
2,5/5🌶️

This is such a sweet and heartwarming story about love, friendship, and found family! Violet, who has just gone through a tough divorce filled with verbal abuse and betrayal, decides to start fresh in Honey Springs with her son. Luckily, her best friend offers her a place to stay and a job, giving her a supportive foundation to rebuild her life. On her first day at work, Violet accidentally spills hot coffee on Austin, and it’s almost love at first sight for him! Austin, who has never been in a relationship, is smitten with Violet. However, he knows he needs to be gentle and patient, considering what she’s been through with her ex.

Violet is such a strong and resilient character. After enduring so much, she finally gathers the courage to leave her past behind and chase her dreams. It’s inspiring to see her determination to create a happy life for herself and her son. Austin, in his mid-30s and unsure about love until he meets Violet, falls for her hard and fast. I appreciated how understanding he is about her situation, and he shows such patience as she starts to heal.

Adrian, Violet’s cool 11-year-old son, is another standout character. He brought a lot of laughs and warmth to the story, and the bond he shares with Violet is just beautiful. I loved how Austin connected with Adrian too. Austin’s parents are also fantastic; they quickly embrace Violet and Adrian, adding to the sense of community. The love between Austin and Violet developed naturally, which I enjoyed. There’s no misunderstanding between them, and it’s heartwarming to see Violet open up over time. Austin’s support helps restore her confidence, making their relationship even more special. Plus, the suspense in the plot is an exciting twist that keeps things interesting!

Violet was a woman who, from the outside, seemed to have the perfect life. She was a mother, a wife, a daughter, and had what many would consider a spectacular home. But within those four walls, the story was entirely different. Violet felt alone, unloved, and undesired. She was constantly mistreated by her husband—not physically, but emotionally—which led to a change in her personality. Her self-esteem began to decline, and she constantly felt worthless, believing she wasn’t capable of doing anything right.

She decides to take a new path after discovering through a text message that her husband is cheating on her with his secretary. With the help of her best friend, Josy, she embarks on a new adventure in Honey Springs. As a mother, Violet constantly had doubts, but she knew she needed a change for herself and Adrian, her young son, who had always been the light of her eyes. She had sacrificed her life, her dreams, and her interests for him.

Her best friend, Josy, gets her a job at her coffee shop, but Violet soon feels like she’s just in the way, as if she can’t do anything right. She constantly remembers what Taylor, her ex-husband, used to tell her—that she was incapable of doing anything well.

On her first day at the coffee shop, Violet accidentally spills coffee on Austin, a longtime bachelor who had no interest in a serious relationship with any woman. And that’s where our story begins—because at that moment, Austin falls hopelessly in love with her.

Lovin’ Violet is a love story that teaches us that sometimes, change is necessary in our lives. Even if we don’t understand it at the moment, it will eventually bring us valuable lessons. It reminds us that true friendships will be there for us, cheering us on when we need it most and offering support in our toughest moments. Along the way, we will meet people who will completely change our lives, showing us that even after experiencing bad relationships, we will learn to appreciate the right person when they come along. That special someone will make us feel like we are the most important part of their world, creating a magical experience. But above all, the most important lesson is that, in the end, we all have the chance to find and cherish our very own Austin in our lives.

I think honestly I’d give this about 3.5 stars. I had high hopes and the cover was super cute. I think there was just A LOT going on in the story. I get it’s a new town and a new series so there is world building that needs to take place, this was just maybe hard to get into.

It almost seems like a bit of a Pinterest book. A little bit of everything. Horrible ex husband, new guy is ex military and doesn’t want commitment, single mom, 12 year old who says “bruh” constantly, romantic suspense, therapy, trauma- there is just a lot going on.

It wasn’t horrible, it just wasn’t really for me.

Loving Violet by Maria Esther is book one in the Honey Spring Series. I’ve been trying to read more new-to-me authors lately, and after seeing reviews, I knew I had to check this one out. Plus, the author is Puerto Rican like me 🇵🇷—so of course I wanted to show my support. And let me tell you... I devoured this book in a day!

"One day, I’ll spend every moment proving to her that she deserves to be loved without conditions. Without fear, and without limits."

Synopsis:
At thirty-five, he had stopped believing in love—until a chance coffee spill introduced him to Violet, a single mom with a guarded heart. Despite her reluctance and painful past, he couldn’t stay away and was determined to earn her trust. Violet quickly became everything he never knew he needed… and now he’s ready to fight for forever with her.

My thoughts:
As a small-town romance lover, I had a feeling I’d enjoy this book—and I was right. Violet moves to Honey Springs with her 11-year-old son, Adrian, after a painful divorce. Wanting a fresh start, she accepts her best friend’s offer to work at her café and live in the small apartment upstairs.

Then there’s Austin—35, an architect, and utterly smitten from the moment they meet. That adorable meet-cute left him thinking about her nonstop. When Violet decides to build her dream home, Austin ends up being the one to design it, and their planning sessions quickly start to feel more like dates.
Violet’s past left her scarred, with deep-rooted self-esteem issues, but with time—and therapy—she begins to heal. The mental health representation in this book was so well done, and I truly appreciated how thoughtfully it was handled.

Austin? Total cinnamon roll book boyfriend material. He was patient, understanding, and fully willing to go at Violet’s pace. Watching her start to believe in love again, gain confidence, and open up was so rewarding. Not only did Austin cherish Violet, but he also went out of his way to bond with her son, Adrian, which melted my heart.

The spice? Deliciously done. Austin has a dirty mouth and knows how to worship a woman—especially one who’s learning to feel beautiful and confident again. The intimate moments weren’t just steamy—they were emotional and empowering.

The suspense element added just the right amount of tension without overpowering the romance. Adrian was an amazing kid—sweet, thoughtful, and protective of his mom. I also adored that they adopted a miniature schnauzer (I have three of them, so that part especially made me smile 🐶).
The found family aspect was heartwarming, and Violet’s group of friends added such a cozy, authentic vibe to the story. I’m super curious about Josy and Noah’s story now!

If you love small-town romances with found family vibes, a little suspense, and beautifully written mental health rep, definitely give this author a chance. Loving Violet is available in both English and Spanish!

ARC Review

I thoroughly enjoyed Loving Violet, but I felt it could have been trimmed down a bit. The passion that Austin has for Violet is palpable, and I loved that aspect of their relationship. However, I found the last few chapters unnecessary. While I understand they serve as a lead-up to the conclusion, I personally would have preferred a more concise ending.

What stood out most to me was the authentic portrayal of single-parent romance, which is a favorite genre of mine. Violet is endearingly clumsy and insecure, but her journey to overcoming those insecurities is beautifully depicted, and Austin plays a pivotal role in boosting her confidence. Their chemistry was electric from the very beginning, and it was such a joy to read.

Adrian, Violet's son, was another highlight for me. I've grown accustomed to younger kids in stories, yet his character was written with such depth and sweetness that I simply adored him—especially his “bruh moment” that made me laugh out loud!

I was particularly excited about the extra snippet featuring Adrian and his best friend; it added an extra layer to the story that I didn't know I needed. Now I’m curious if they'll get their own story! And let's not forget Noah and Josy—there's definitely something special brewing between them, and I’m eager to see where their tension leads.

Overall, this series has captured my interest, and I will be on the lookout for future installments. Maria Esther has crafted a heartfelt story that resonates, and I’m glad I took the time to read it!

After getting a divorce from her emotionally abusive husband Violet decides to move with her son to Honey Springs with her best friend Josy for a fresh start. So while she gets them settled down she starts working with her self esteem and going to therapy while working in her friends coffee shop.

Austin is an architect that has lived there forever and he is the type of man who doesn’t do relationships and is solely focused on his job, family, and friends. That immediately change when he has an encounter with Violet in the coffee shop he usually goes to.

-my opinion-

I wanted to read this book because I really love the cover, some of the tropes are my favorites, and because I wanted to support the author since she’s Puerto Rican like me.

Unfortunately I didn’t really connect with the characters and the story, and I’m extremely disappointed and sad because I really wanted to like it. Also I’m going to open a parenthesis here because the book wasn’t bad it’s just that it wasn’t for me!

It was really difficult for me to get into the story. I felt like the writing was repetitive and with too much descriptions, and I really felt like it was too much going on really fast and I just couldn’t get through.

What I really enjoyed was the way Austin treated Violet. He made her feel beautiful and that she could believe in herself and in love again.

There's stories that stick with you and this would be the one for me. Violet's story was so similar to mine that I felt her emotions intensely, I was rooting for her and felt the need to embrace her. Austin, was everything she needed, the man was patient but on a mission and had me smiling in so many moments. There's an element of suspense in this story that caught me by surprise and held me interest throughout. The journey, the friendship and the small town had that feel good coziness that we all love.

The FMC is so easy to love, but the story also allows you to feel WITH her. The author does a great job of describing the struggles she’s faced and why this new start is so incredibly important. Violet is strong, independent, and doing her best for her son 👩‍👦 My heart broke for her past, but watching her open herself up and grow was just SO GOOD. 🥰

And Austin is a true TEDDY BEAR MMC. 🧸😍 The {He Falls First} trope couldn’t have been more intense for this one. 🥹🔥 The way he pursues her is how every woman deserves to be pursued. 💘✨ Also, the author was a MASTERMIND 🧠🙌 at how she described all the characters. You could literally visualize each one with every detail. I loved that!

I’ll be honest, the mystery/thriller/suspense portion of this book came out of left field for me and I was NOT expecting it! 😳😱 I love it when genres are intertwined and you get to have the best of both worlds!

This had all the small-town goodness 🏡, sweet moments, palm-sweating suspense😱, and some heavy spice (IMO). 🌶️💖 I really adored every second of it!!

If you’re into protective heroes, single moms, and the kind of romance that everyone deserves… this one’s for you 🫶✨

I thought I was reading a love a first sight, kind of Hallmark romcom type of book and boy was I wrong!! I must let you know that this is not a pink, flowers and kisses romance book. Here you will read about the resilience of Violet coming out of a verbally abusive relationship; one that distorted her self image. A woman that left the life that she build to find a better future for her child and herself. Let’s say a fresh start! Austin hasn’t found what he is looking for! (That sounded like a 80’s song, LOL) Maybe he was looking on the wrong places until stumble into someone that caught his eyes and eventually his heart. But before our characters have their happy ending, they have to go through some trials. Mental health, abuse, self image, ex’s and a lot of other situations I don’t want to give away!
The spice was spicing, the suspense had me on the edge of my seat and I also had the urge to slap some “humans” (what can I say! I’m an equal opportunity type of girl).
Also I’m really interested in what the author will come up with next! She dropped some “easter eggs” through the book of possible stories developing in the background!
As a first solo book for this author, I can said it was a success! I don’t usually read this type of romance books, her writing style kept me engage the whole time I was reading. Looking forward to her new projects, well done Maria!!

If you're looking for a romance that not only steals your heart but also makes you reflect in life, Loving Violet by @mariaestherauthor is for you. 🖤

Here we meet Violet, a recently divorced woman looking to rebuild her life with her son, Adrian. Thanks to her best friend Josy, she arrives in a quiet town where no one knows her... but where her story is just beginning.

And it's there, in a coffee shop, where the encounter that changes everything happens: Violet accidentally spills Austin's coffee. A man who has always lived by "one-night stands," but with just one look at Violet, he understands that love at first sight does exist. From that moment on, Austin decides he'll do everything possible to win her over and help her heal... and Violet begins to open up to the possibility of loving and being loved as she truly deserves. 🥹

This is the first book I've read by María Esther, and I'm delighted! 💜 I thought it would be a cute and simple romance, but it's SO much more than that. It has emotional layers, delicate themes, and a healing story that touched my soul. ✨

I do recommend reading the trigger warnings before starting. It's a beautiful story, but intense at times.

I'm more than ready to read Loving Josy! Also, if you didn't know, María Esther will be in Puerto Rico this July on a mini tour 😍

Fall into this 4 Heart Lavender Haze that is Loving Violet by Maria Esther!

Is love at first sight still a thing anymore, was it ever? Not for our man Austin, at 35, had come to terms with the notion that love was no longer in the cards for me. Which isn't ideal, but it's ok. He has his own business and tends to indulging in casual flings whenever the mood struck But then, everything shifted for him. He goes to get his Monday coffee and was completely blindsided when Violet spilled hot coffee all over him. Just like that, he was captivated. He didn't even know her name or her story, but deep down, he knew he had to make her mine.
Austin learns that Violet that carries a significant amount of baggage-she is a single mom starting fresh in his small town— he realized she isn't quite ready for a new relationship. Having endured the scars of a previous marriage, she's hesitant to trust again. But Austin is focused and won't back away from something I genuinely desired?

Violet is everything he never knew he wanted. She's stunning, dedicated to her son, and well-loved by everyone in town. He's not sure if he's the man she envisioned falling in love with, but he's ready to take the leap and express the words he's never dared to before... he wants to spend the rest of his life Loving Violet.
This story features some of my all-time favorite tropes!
With its charming small-town setting, the 'he falls first' dynamic, and thoughtful mental health representation, it offers a beautiful exploration of connection and healing.
Plus, there's just enough suspense to keep you on your toes!

While I do agree with some other reviewers who noted that certain parts of the story a little repetitive, with elements that could have been trimmed, but then again, that's just my perspective-other readers might see it differently!

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey of Austin and Violet as they navigate love and rediscovery.

Violet story was so captivating going from her verbally abusive ex-husband who was a manipulator to a handsome kind man named Austin who turns out not the committal type later on he visits his parents and we get a understanding why but soon as he sees Violet he’s into her from the moment he laid eyes on her and everyone in town can’t help but to notice his interest in Violet. I love how he always reassured her how beautiful she was even when she didn’t see it in herself because of her ex husband and accepted her and her child Adrien and wants to be there for both of them I enjoyed Violet’s friend Josy and all the towns people that come to the coffee shop to gossip lol also enjoyed Noah and Esteban and Austin’s friendship and and how the guys Joke around with Austin but are there to support him and cheer him on I love how we get some back story on the awkwardness going on between Josy and Noah this book was super cute I give it 2 chili peppers🌶️🌶️ 10/10 I recommend this small town romance book and I can’t wait for book 2! If you read any books by Lucy score and liked it you will definitely love Loving Violet I liked it even more i recommend it to anyone who loves small town romance books it will have you turning the pages 😊💜

Loving Violet was a sweet, heartwarming story about new beginnings, friendships, and healing. This story follows Violet Pearson, a recent divorcee and single mom to an 11-year-old son and Austin Caldwell, an ex-military man turned architect, who didn't do relationships; that is until Violet crashed into his life, literally.

First off, Violet and Austin's meet cute was a messy one, but oh, so precious. Violet was so endearingly clumsy as she tried to find her footing at her new job, after years of being a stay-at-home mom. Her resilience and bravery in seeking a fresh start for herself and her son were admirable. Violet's struggle with her self-image was heartbreaking, and I loved how Austin showed up for her in every way possible.

Austin! This man was so kind and patient. He did everything he could to help Violet heal, and I loved how protective he was of her and her son, Adrian. Adrian was quite the character. His brand of humor brought laughter and sweetness to the story.

Just when I thought this story was going to be a sweet romcom with a bit of heavy, I was thrown back by the added suspense in the plot and steamy encounters that kept me turning the pages.

Loving Violet (Honey Springs Series Book 1)
by Maria Esther

In this captivating tale, Violet embarks on a heartfelt journey toward a second chance at love, while Austin experiences an unexpected spark that feels like love at first sight. After enduring the shadows of an emotionally abusive marriage, Violet, a resilient single mother, relocates to the charming small town of Honey Springs. Here, she hopes to reclaim her strength and embrace a new beginning.

Austin, a 35-year-old architect with a steadfast commitment to bachelorhood, has always steered clear of romantic entanglements—until fate intervenes. The moment he lays eyes on Violet, he is spellbound, realizing she is the woman he never knew he was searching for. Her strength and grace captivate him, leaving him irresistibly drawn to her.

Amidst the unfolding romance, the story is filled with twists and turns. I correctly identified the bad guy, but my confidence in that guess was low, which made the revelation a pleasant surprise.

With its rich character development and emotional depth, this book serves as a perfect introduction to a promising new series. I find myself eagerly anticipating the next book, excited to see where the journey will lead!

A second chance at love for Violet and its love at first sight for Austin. Violet is a single mum, divorced after an emotionally abusive marriage and moving to start over again in a small town. Austin is a confirmed bachelor, set in his ways at 35, not interested in love until it literally hit him square in the chest. He’s an absolute golden retriever/ cinnamon roll hero her, and there is no one more deserving of his attentions than the gorgeous Violet. He’s so patient and kind and I’m so pleased it all paid off for their HEA.

I voluntarily reviewed a free advance copy of this book provided by the author. The opinions expressed are my own

If you are looking for a cozy small-town romance with a twist you will not expect, then this is the book for you. I absolutely loved the pacing of the book; it felt steady throughout the read.

María Esther does a very good job representing trauma after surviving and leaving a verbally abusive relationship. It is easy to be inside Violet's mind as she struggles and overcomes her insecurities.

I am truly eager to discover how the next couple in the "Honey Spring Series" develops their relationship 🤭

I love a good single mom book and Loving Violet was it. Violet and her son, Adrian move back to her home state after her divorce. Her ex-husband was not so kind and talked down to her and emotionally scared her. Austin is a playboy that never wants to settle down. It's insta-love for him when he sees her the first time. It takes her a bit to let him in. He proves to be so supportive and loving to both Violet and Adrian. When something happens and puts their new relationship in danger, can they make it through it?

Loving Violet is a cute and lovable romance with a touch of drama, making it a perfect palate cleanser. I’m a sucker for an interconnected romance series, so I loved seeing the setup for future books—definitely excited for what’s next!

Loved reading this book
He’s a total golden retriever with a dirty mouth
A bit repetitive on his ogling but just a great twist and storyline otherwise
Can’t wait for the rest of the series

Wow this had me on my toes throughout! The twists and turns, I did not see coming and guessed wrong about what was going to happen or rather who was the delulu person. This story showed so much resilience and shined a light on the impact of emotional and verbal abuse, the most unspoken and misunderstood components of abusive relationships. I highly recommend

This book was so cute. THE PLOT TWIST, I was for sure it was one, BUT IT WAS ANOTHER.
