Let the world burn, for vengeance demands no less.
On the desolate Draugr Coast, Skadi's name has become legend—giantslayer, shieldmaiden, wyrd weaver, and jarl's daughter. She has conquered all who stood in her path. But now, her quest for vengeance leads her to an ancient, festering evil buried deep within the Coast—a force so malevolent that even the mightiest warriors tremble before it.
They tell her it is hopeless. To fight this darkness is to condemn the land to ruin. Surrender, they say, and accept your fate.
But Skadi bows to no one but her goddess. And when dread Freyja commands her, Skadi will defy the impossible and let the world burn to ashes.

How this is not more popular among fantasy readers is beyond me.
Skadi's Saga is the second book in a fantasy trilogy by Phil Tucker set in a dystopian Norse-themed environment. It has elements of LitRPG and historical fiction woven together with your more classic fantasy tropes (in a good way!) in a fairly easy to digest format.
The worldbuilding here is incredibly well done and you can tell Phil has done his homework on Scandinavian Viking lore and mixed in a believable magic-system.
The characters are relatable and likeable in their own way. We only get Skadi's POV during the whole journey so it's an easy story to follow and hence perfect for both new and old fantasy-readers. MC's character development is solid, however my only gripe is that it might feel a little Mary Sue at times.
Sadly the whole Skadi's Saga world was shortened down from half of a dozen of books to a trilogy because of lack of interest from readers. This is very surprising to be honest because this work might be the author's best and definitely on par with some of his best books.
I really enjoy reading about Skadi's adventures. The story is rich and has really well captured the old tales of the vikings into a modern fantasy. Being Swedish myself I am delighted and amazed how well the expressions and words from the old language has been adopted and adapted into this. It could well be a story told by my own ancestors and I really enjoy that. Often times when authors try to portray "vikings" it's difficult to read, they are depicted in a way that is more Hollywood than any reflection of reality. There is none of that in these books, instead the story is rich with the flavour of northern humanity, in a fantasy setting. Go read it if you haven't already! I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do.
I really enjoyed never knowing what might come next. Skadi in this book rode a high and the suspense of when that would end kept my attention and made it hard to put this book down. Can't wait for book 3 of skadi's story.
Genuinely one of the best new series to have come out in recent memory! Great world building, strong characters and pacing, all set in a progression fantasy based Norse mythology world. Eagerly awaiting book 3 and would recommend to all!
It felt even stronger than the first one - and that's saying a lot. Skadi is growing as an awesome heroine. The book had plenty of fantastic scenes, emotion, twists and turns, clever use of magic and strategy, and so much more. Can't wait for the next one!
very happy with the way this series is going. the characters are well developed and the story pacing was great. definitely looking forward to more in this series.
4.5 stars. The author built on book one and made this into an amazing series. The characters are so very lovable. I can’t wait for the next book to release
