Bernadette Baxter, the youngest of the four Baxter sisters, is known throughout Hatfield for her herbal remedies, quick wit, and compassionate heart. Whether crafting lozenges, setting broken bones, or delivering herbal teas, Bernadette has earned the trust and reliance of the townspeople. But when a new doctor arrives, her place in the community is suddenly under threat.
Dr. Glynn Williams has seen his share of battlefield injuries and is determined to bring modern medicine to Hatfield. But his arrival is met with resistance from Bernadette, whose strong will and herbal expertise challenges everything he believes about healing. Their rivalry sparks plenty of tension, and more than a little attraction, as they clash over patients, practices, and the stubborn belief that they know best.
As Bernadette and Glynn are forced to work together, their animosity begins to soften into admiration. But with Napoleon’s escape from Elba casting a shadow over England and Bernadette’s father still missing in France, both face challenges that threaten to drive them apart. Can Bernadette and Glynn find common ground - and love - before duty and danger tear them away from each other?
Step into the charming world of Regency England in this witty, heartwarming series about family, love, and the courage it takes to follow your heart.
The Bookshop Belles is a series of sweet historical romances which do not feature on-page sexual content.
I've been writing since I was 5 years old. I've always had to set it aside and try to concentrate on so-called 'real life' though. I've had a number of interesting careers - engineer, real estate sales agent, owner of an electrical goods store, silversmith - but finally the time has come for me to return to my first love. Writing.
I've always loved the works of Jane Austen, so perhaps it's fitting that my first published work should be a variation on the much beloved Pride And Prejudice.
Visit my website, www.catherinebilson.com, to read several free short fics in the Pride and Prejudice fandom, and to leave me comments on my work!
I also write not-for-profit fanfiction set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and if you'd like to read those free works please go to the Archive Of Our Own and search for the user handle ozhawk.
Bernadette has been acting as herbalist for the town, growing and supplying concoctions for the local apothecary for years. It's logical that she would clash with the town's new, young doctor, Glynn Williams, who gives little credence to old fashioned remedies.
With her three sisters now married, Bernadette is now in sole charge of the book shop, and still must deal with cruel relatives, a serious problem with the vicar's daughter, and the Baxter's missing father. Loose ends are tied in this last book of the series, which has been delightful.
All four covers of this series are brilliant. They even reflect Crafty the cat's evolving story. 4.5 stars
A most enjoyable final installment of The Bookshop Belles. I loved the challenges and obstacles to Bernadette and Glynn's romance and how the whole series concluded. Crafty the cat created problems as usual, and the family rallied to help in the end. I highly recommend the series of entertaining Regency Romances.
This series has just about everything, mystery, danger, sweet love stories and villains you will love to hate! If you like swoon worthy heroes and strong heroines with sweet love stories this will definitely not disappoint.
(My 4 stars is probably your 5.) Unable to review timely in detail, but I enjoyed this series of prequel+4 books, which should be read in order -- you'll want to find out what happens to all the sisters!
