After failed relationships, where she gives her all and receives nothing but disappointment, Monroe is seeking a life of success and independence. With a family that means more harm than good, she buries herself in a career as a fitness instructor.
When Gavin’s engagement ends and his dream of being a father goes up in flames, he realizes some things just aren't meant to be. Despite his misfortune with relationships, he hasn't completely given up on love.
A mishap places Gavin in the path of an intriguing woman. He can't seem to shake the pull he feels but she is afraid to let her guard down. Fortunately, the universe has a bigger plan and they may be granted permission to love.
I loved the book. The were just what the other needed and deserved. The ones that deserved it got their karma. I would love a book on the brothers or the bestie.
I really wanted to enjoy this book, but the lack of character development made it hard to stay invested. Almost the entire story is centered on the FMC’s toxic ex, leaving very little room for the actual romance to grow. Instead of moving forward, the plot keeps circling the same drama.
The FMC’s choices also felt confusing and inconsistent. She refuses to move in with her supportive best friend, yet she’s perfectly fine taking money from her while continuing to live with the same toxic family she claims to need distance from. It made it difficult to believe her motivations or connect with her as a character.
And the romance… isn’t really a romance. The FMC and MMC go on one date, and suddenly we’re supposed to buy that they’re in love. There’s no emotional build-up, no chemistry, and no real bonding moments just a rushed insta-love that doesn’t feel earned.
Whew! 🤦🏾♀️😩 When I tell you I wanted to jump into this book 📖 and shake some self-respect—and a backbone into Monroe, I mean it! I have never read a story with such a frustratingly weak female lead 😤. She allowed her ex to humiliate her 😡, steal from her 💸, and even put her out. Then, on top of that, she let her mother and sister treat her like absolute trash 🗑️💔. It was a lot! 😮💨
Gavin, on the other hand 😌, came in after dealing with his own heartbreak 💔—his ex tried to play him by making him believe he was her baby daddy 👶🏾. Talk about messy! 👀🍿
Despite all the chaos 🌪️, these two broken hearts 💔💔 came together unexpectedly ✨, trying to figure out how to trust and love again ❤️. And that’s exactly what Permission to Love is all about—learning when it’s okay to open your heart again 💞🔓.
She let way too many people run all over her for more than fifty-two percent of the book and then wouldn't accept help for the man who loved her until she almost lost him. I only finished this because I had read so much but I was not impressed with how she was bullied, emotionally, physically, and suffered through racism by her own family and the man who allegedly loved her for five years. In the end she got her happily ever after but the journey was rough and disheartening.
I truly enjoyed this. It was messy but not too much. Just enough to keep you engaged and enthralled from beginning to end. I love how Monroe and Gavin found each other. Love Ms. Luella and his brothers and loved her best friend too. I ain't go on who I hated in the book cuz that would be a whole paragraph abs giving the story away lol I felt enjoyed this and definitely recommend if you want to be smiling in the end.
This was my first read by the author and I loved it! Monroe was finally loved properly and I’m glad her ex got what he deserved. To think he played in her face the whole relationship upset me. I got so excited when she bought the lottery ticket thinking she was about to become a millionaire lol 10/10 read
Ugh i didn’t want this to be over. I love when there is drama but the author doesn’t make the whole story about the drama. I was worried about Monroe being a “weak” FMC but I enjoyed her character development. Her and Gavin had been through so much before finding each other, I enjoyed reading their relationship grow.
This was a quick read! I liked the drama from beginning to end. I couldn’t believe that it was the Momma because I was definitely thinking it was the sister. Monroe and Gavin was better than me.
She went through a lot. Financial abuse is real and just as damaging as physical abuse. Kraig didn’t suggest enough for me. What was up with the mother? In the end, true love persevered.
This was my first read by this author and I found the story to be lackluster. I didn’t believe the romance between the two MCs and the overall plot lacked tremendously.
