Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.
Wow! This was a fantastic addition to the True Crime Junkie series. Although we have seen Logan, an Alaskan State Trooper, in the previous books in this series, he is the prominent character in If You're Reading This. We get Logan's backstory and the guilt that he and Morgan both carry. The plot was well-crafted with a serial killer using Morgan's photographs as part of his sinister plan of murdering people. Logan knows Morgan's abduction is linked to the murders, and he and the Arctic Circle Murder Club members are determined to find Morgan and the killer. The identity of the killer was a surprise. I do hope there will be another installment in this series.
Finally! Gibson got attention! The first third of the book was slow to me. I think it’s because it was a missing person’s case and they were just looking but the stakes weren’t ramped up yet. But when things got heated up, boy did they! Another creepy, creepy bad guy.
This book didn’t really have as much Faith content as the others.
The romance was sweet.
All in all, I’m super happy I made it through the entire series.
This series was a stretch for me at first, but I quickly fell in love with the characters and the secrets they held. Alaska State Trooper Logan Gibson initially seemed like an outsider—unsure about this ragtag team of would-be detectives—but over time, the bond between them deepened in a way that felt authentic and earned.
Now, Gibson is front and center as long-buried secrets come to light. He’s desperate to find the woman he believes he doesn’t deserve—before it’s too late.
As a photographer, I loved that Morgan’s character captures stunning landscape shots. Barritt does a fantastic job painting those scenes through vivid commentary, adding another layer to the story’s tension.
This story leans darker than some of the earlier books. It reminded me of an episode of Criminal Minds, as the killer plays cat and mouse with the team, recreating Morgan’s photos in grotesque detail—adding a chilling twist that ratchets up the suspense.
I enjoyed this installment immensely and found it hard to put down. Just when I thought I had the villain figured out, Barritt surprised me again.
If you’ve enjoyed the True Crime Junkies books, this one takes things to the next level—in all the best ways!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was under no obligation to write a positive review, and all opinions expressed are my own.
4.5 stars "Each murder had been meticulously staged to mirror her photographs."
Just when Morgan Riley had gotten up enough nerve to demonstrate her true feelings for Logan, the stoid state trooper had responded with brutal honesty, revealing something about himself that had rocked Morgan to the core. Needing to distance herself emotionally . . . . .
Morgan had seemingly disappeared into thin air. Logan Gibson becomes deeply concerned, and rightfully so, for all signs point to an abduction. Thankfully his friends Andi Slade and Duke McAllister, both members of the Artic Circle Murder Club (a popular true crime podcast), are willing to pour their resources into the case, because a sinister killer seems delighted to stay infuriatingly elusive, giving them a terrifying glimpse into the disturbed mind of someone who believes cruelty should be considered art!
These books continue to be some of my all-time favorites! The author's clean, crisp plotting skills are on full disply in this tenth book of the series and having become comfortably familiar with the characters and knowing how well they work together, makes what could be a really dark story into something quite readable.
True Crime Junkies is one of my favorite series by Christy Barritt, and I have been waiting for State Trooper and friend Logan to have his own story. After putting his life and reputation on the line for the friends and podcasters many times, we finally hear who and what brought Logan to Alaska, and the guilt he has been carrying. The night beautiful, talented photographer Morgan Riley gets up the courage to tell Logan how she feels about him, he knows he has to tell her the truth, which causes her to flee from him. Then she disappears, leaving Logan desperate to find her and to try to win her back. Ashamed of his past action (or inactions), Logan knows he has to involve the Artic Circle Murder Club if he is going to to find Morgan alive, as the madman is always two steps ahead of him, using Morgan's own work as a blueprint. Every time they think they know what he will do next, he changes it up. This was a riveting read and I could not put it down!
I received a free copy of this book with no obligations for a positive review. The opinions are my own.
I had a BETA copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Alaska state trooper, Logan Gibson is in love with Award Winning Photographer Morgan Riley, but hasn’t told her. When she disappears, and bodies start piling up, he knows she has been abducted. With his friends from the Arctic Circle Murder Club the search begins but the murderer is always one step ahead of them. They must figure it out before Morgan’s time runs out. Great book full of suspense and intrigue, friendships, and hope for the future.
Alaska State Trooper Logan Gibson has been a side character throughout the series. His mysterious backstory, which had been hinted at, is now brought into the light, as he races to save brilliant photographer Morgan Riley after she vanishes. I thought this book was the best of the series--deeper characterizations and a mixture of narrative devices. While the book can be read as a stand-alone, having read the other Arctic Circle Murder Club stories gives a fuller understanding of the Club members and why Logan Gibson is so important to them.
Like the perfect photo, Logan's story marks perfection
Morgan carried her grief and guilt, Logan is carrying his share as well. Together just doesn't seem to be the answer until they are forced to face the facts. A sick, twisted human being is determined to take the perfect interpretation of Morgan's series and in that perfection he will meet his demise. The Artic Circle Murder Club joins together to untwist his sinisterly plot.
Thank you MS Barritt for writing that keeps a reader guessing and digging for the truth.
If You're Reading This by Christy Barritt is the latest book, book 10, in the True Crime Junkies series. This book focuses on Logan and Morgan. I have really enjoyed the previous books in this series and I honestly did not feel like the series could get any better. I was wrong! This book is truly crazy with suspense. It will keep your attention throughout. Make sure you have enough time to read when you start because you will not be able to start. So good! I received a digital copy of this book from the author with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
Another marvelous book in the True Crime Junkies series. This is Alaska State Trooper Logan Gibson’s long awaited story. He and Morgan Riley have been friends for about five years, but he has kept an important secret from her. Morgan disappears then a serial killer uses her photos as inspiration to pose his victims. The killer seems to always be one step ahead of the team as they search for Morgan and save the victims. I recommend you read this book for a fast paced book of danger and suspense in the Alaskan wilderness.
One suspect after another is brought as the possible murder. Each of them has things that point to them. As the story unfolds your suspicions bounce to and fro. Logan and Morgan share a special relationships but they each have secrets that could destroy their future.
As the Artic Circle Mystery Cluster race to save one of their own secrets come to life. Will relationships survive? Will the members survive.
Heart pounds no nail biting suspense right to the end. The characters and relationships created in this series are wonderful. It doesn’t get any better than this. If you want good clean keep you guessing right up to the end this series needs to be your next read
Mostly I am disappointed, because this is the final True Crime Junkies book. I loved this series and hate to see it end. But I really enjoyed reading this final chapter in the series. It was certainly a thriller. I went to sleep reading it, and picked it up and finished it when I got up in the morning. Great story, terrific mystery and a happy ending. Sorry there will not be more!
Another excellent book by Christy Barritt. It was definitely a book that was difficult to put down. I love the True Crime Junkies series. This book was one I never saw who the guilty one was until the revelation. It was thrilling and such a page turner. It’s definitely a book I recommend to anyone!
Just when you think you've discovered the killer, your suspect becomes a victim, a "completion" of a beautiful photograph! There are secrets that need to come out, emotions that need to be released -- but is there time before another victim dies in the beautiful Alaskan wilderness under the aurora borealis?
I wish this wasn't the last of the True Crime Junkies stories as I've enjoyed every one of them. I think Christy Barritt saved the best for last. This story kept me wondering who and how, it's absolute page turner. This is a series that I will gladly read again.
I seldom nail the perp(s) in a Christy Barritt thriller, but I was able to figure this one by process of elimination. It was gratifying that Morgan & Gibson finally admitted their love for each other, although at the very brink of death. I wonder if there'll be any more installations to the series.
Note: previous volumes of the series are not required, but highly recommended.
Yet again, Christy Barritt pens a unique suspense loaded with intrigue, red herrings and shocking surprises. With scenic descriptions so real, readers are drawn to vivid, imagined landscapes of arctic proportions.
I received a copy of the book without obligation for a positive review. This is my own opinion.
Hold on tight for a thrill ride of suspense and romance. The plot was well done and it keeps you guessing and guessing until the end. I enjoyed being back with the crew and getting to see a story with Logan as the main character. All the characters were fantastic.
This is clean reading, no bad language and sweet romance. A mild faith thread is woven in.
The killer is a master manipulator. He knows what you are going to do, because he is leading you to do it! The signs are all there, or are they? Ms. Barritt is excellent at writing stories that keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat. Close the curtains, turn on all the lights, and sit down to read this chilling story set in beautiful Alaska!
Wow! This is an outstanding book. I was unable to put down this suspenseful story. I love the main characters, Logan and Morgan. Each of their links to Morgan’s brother, Bobby, establishes a solid foundation for the whole exciting story. This book in the series, “True Crime Junkies” easily stands alone as the best book in the series.
Another great read by Christy Barritt. I've read the entire series and excited to finish this one. Follow Logan Gibson as he and some of the Artic Circle Murder Club try to find the love of Logan's life, Morgan Riley. Someone wants to duplicate and finish Morgan's work and is killing people to do it. Read this to find out why. Great reat.
Logan story has me thinking if I missed a book in between. As always best five stars ever. Christy Barritt has done it again. I like to guess who the killer is but I didn't think I was Tom. Christy reminds me of murder she wrote. Mystery romance suspense all into one book. I'm a follower of true crime junkies.
I have loved every book I've read by Christy Barrier. They are the perfect balance of on the edge of your seat suspense with some romance thrown in. They are always so enthralling you can't put them down, no mater how late it is!!
You won't be disappointed. Christy Barritt is one of my favorite author's and this series is one o f my favorite series. And she did it again, she wrote a book you can't put down and kept you guessing till the end. I highly recommend this book.
Another absolutely amazing true crime book! It held a sense of mystery, murder, intrigue and some romance thrown it. Kept me on the edge of my seat not wanting to put it down. Highly recommended!
I enjoyed this much more than the past few books. It felt much more thorough and less rushed. The story of a background character in the series was a great choice, instead of another person from the murder club. Thank you Ms. Barritt!
Oh, my! I love reading about the Murder Club! I was hooked from the first word to the last. I couldn’t but the book down. It was an edge of your seat up all night book! Loved it! Sure hope there are more of these!
