What would you do if your elderly parents vanished without a trace? Would you assume they’d simply wandered off? Or would you start to suspect something far more sinister? When retired couple Violet and Lawrence Braithwaite disappear from their quiet home in Birtley, their three grown-up children, practical Karen, anxious Sam, and sceptical Josh —must put their differences aside to unravel the mystery. But as they search for answers, they soon discover that their parents’ seemingly ordinary life hides secrets even they never suspected. Enter Faye Chambers, an amateur sleuth with a sharp mind and an eye for the details others overlook. As she digs into the case, she quickly realises that nothing in Birtley is quite as it seems. A sighting in the park, the arrival of a postcard, and a missing library book are all clues which lead to the shocking truth that will keep you guessing until the very end. Can Faye find Violet and Lawrence before it’s too late? Or is someone in Birtley determined to keep the past buried forever?
Perfect for fans of cosy crime, this suspenseful yet heart-warming mystery invites you into the charming streets of Birtley, where gossip spreads faster than the truth, and danger lurks behind every picket fence.
A nice easy read on a tough subject. Older Parents go missing and their family are rightly worried about them. Faye is taking the case on as an amateur sleuth. Set locally to me it was interesting with the extra details and photos captured too. Enjoyed it a lot
