Shattered Gravity, book 1 of the new series Unhinged

What an absolutely amazing book about Reid & Owen! Tropes: Contemporary, Darker, Male/Female, CNC, Unaliving,🐝B$M, PTSD, Stalking, Age Gap, Ex-Military, Secrets, Mid Book Break Up Single Dad, 3rd Act break Up, Not Enough Groveling IMO & HEA!

This was quite a different series than what I normally expect from St. Claire. The book follows Reid, the owner of a vintage couture shop, who’s had her fair share of bad Valentine’s Days—including finding her fiancé and friend in bed together the night of her engagement party. Reid has a side she keeps hidden from most people, though her sister and best friend know how to reach the real her.
Enter Owen, a Marine vet working in security with a troubled past. The two meet online, exchanging messages—and eventually, some photos. Through their connection, Reid discovers her submissive side, and Owen turns out to be the perfect match for her as a Dom.
The overall story was good, though there was a bit too much back-and-forth and too many secrets between the main characters. It was definitely spicy but felt a little long and drawn out at times. Still, I liked how the story wrapped up and will definitely keep reading whatever comes next in the series.

feral, emotionally deranged gush because Shattered Gravity by Ari St. Claire has me lying on the floor, staring at the ceiling, questioning every choice that led to me reading this book WITHOUT EMOTIONAL PREPARATION.
Owen and Reid???
OH. MY. GOD.
These two didn’t just fall—they free-fell, collided mid-air, crashed into each other so hard that my HEART is still vibrating from the impact.
Owen: the Marine vet, single dad, grumpy, emotionally battle-scarred, quiet storm of a man who walks around carrying enough guilt to drown in. The way he loves??? The way he tries not to love because he doesn’t think he deserves it??? PAIN. PURE PAIN. But in that delicious, addictive way where you’re like “hurt me more, sir.”
Reid: the angel girl with a camera, soft but steel-spined, seeing people in ways they never see themselves. And she SEES Owen. From the first click of her camera. From that very first moment. Their connection is instant, intense, impossible to look away from.
And when he breaks her heart??
WHEN HE SHATTERS WHAT THEY WERE BUILDING???
I swear I actually stopped breathing.
You can FEEL the cracks in both of them.

This story is messy and raw and tender and devastating and hopeful and sexy and EVERYTHING I want romance to be. It’s about falling, yes—but even more, it’s about what happens after the fall, when someone decides you’re worth picking up piece by piece.
Owen and Reid didn’t just shatter.
They became something new.
