Scott Jarvis is a ship captain…he’s also a private detective, ex-Navy SEAL, author, international counter-criminal enforcement (ICE) agent, and a ladykiller. His self-described talents include, “door kicking, snake eating, cooking, solving mysteries…some flying, sailing and…pleasin’ the ladies!” This book is very nostalgic to read in the summer, having grown up on a lake. The story starts in Florida, and includes very accurate and confident descriptions of boats and docks. Scott lays out $950,000 on a massive red and black vessel, “two-hundred tons of solid girl” named Surprise, with plans to go out on the water with his girlfriend and companions, all possessing more-or-less sailing experience. He dreams of something akin to his very own pirate fighting adventure. However, this plan and the summery and bright tones of the book are put on hold in the aftermath of an attempted murder. From here, the book has clear directive and suspects in sight as we follow along with Scott in the first person…for the first nineteen chapters, that is. Later on, things go awry when greed isn’t the motive it seemed to be. Scott all but fails, and falls to his lowest point. As he disappears, numb and detached, we see things from his girlfriend Lisa’s point of view, as well as perspectives from the other side of the table… A great read! It’s only a little confusing if you haven’t read any other books in the series, as this is #11, because some of the recurring characters are introduced by mentioning their roles in previous novels. But overall, this was an interesting action drama!
"Suffer Not Evil: A Florida Action Adventure Novel" is one of those novels that grabs the reader from the start. The plot that Scott Cook offers us is original and fresh; in addition, action and adventure are the protagonists of this novel. Veronica Bradford is a successful woman who recently widowed and now someone wants her out of the way. Detective Scott Jarvis is in charge of the investigation to find out who wants to kill Veronica. I really enjoyed reading this novel as it has many unexpected twists and turns. The writing style of the author seems very good to me and I certainly recommend this extraordinary book.
This is the eleventh book in the Scott Jarvis Private Investigator series. Suffer not evil, written by Scott Cook, is a book that I certainly liked. I am amazed at the ability that the author has to write so many installments in a series and keep the readers entertained; it is certainly not an easy task. Characters are very well constructed; they are believable and readers can empathise with them. Also, the plot was carefully created; I did not find a single thing left to chance, which I loved. The story is entertaining and got me guessing more than once, for these reasons I would totally recommend reading it.
I really enjoyed this novel written by author Cook. The plot is captivating and what surprised me the most is that this is the eleventh installment in the series and it keeps on being engaging.
The story develops smoothly and each chapter ends in a way that demanded me to keep on reading; it was a book difficult to put down. Characters were very well portrayed; I liked how they interacted and their dialogues. The narrative is very clear and easy to read.
The story is not predictable which is the main reason why I recommend reading this novel! I would love to read more books by this author.
This book jumps straight into the action that drives the storyline and details slowly unravel. ‘Suffer Not Evil: A Florida Action Adventure Novel’ (Scott Jarvis Private Investigator Book 11) by Scott Cook follows the story of private investigator Scott Jarvis and his quest to uncover a foiled murder plot. The book is very detailed and action-packed. I read that each book in this series could be read as standalone books, so this was the first book I read in this series. I was able to follow along, but I do think it would have been better for me to read the rest of the series' first to learn more about the characters along the way. It’s a good read for those who like action and adventure.
Scot W. Cook is the author of the thrilling novel titled “Suffer No Evil”.
In the book, he writes about death, mystery and savage murderers. I consider this book as action-packed because in every chapter there is something that left my mouth open and my mind intrigued. Nevertheless, I did not like the ending. I felt at some point that there was so much happening in no time, and that the end came abruptly. I would of course give this author a second chance because I do believe he is talented and that he has a lot to tell his audience. I give this reader three stars because it was a good time-killer!
Scott Cook again puts forth an exciting adventure yarn. There are a lot of twists and turns in this knotty puzzle, and Scott Jarvis is up to his neck in the Florida everglades with murder attempts, villains, drug kingpins, and deadly intrigue. A great read with our hero, Scott Jarvis!
Scott Cook has given us another action packed "who done it" set in southwest Florida. His writing style is fun and pulls the readers in. The suspense is good as well as all the Florida knowledge. Look forward to the next story of Lisa and the evil doctor Scott Jarvis.
Very interesting, extremely well written. Found a few editing issues but were minor. Lots of laughs, some sadness but lots of adventure. Feed read Rock on!
To do now???? I've read all 11 of the Jarvis books in less than a month. Clean house? No. I'll gently suggest to Mr. Cook that HE HURRY UP WITH BOOK #12!!!
