To Honor We Call You: A Florida Action Adventure Novel by Scott Cook is the ninth book in the Scott Jarvis Private Investigator series. The author again weaves another action-packed sea adventure with plenty twists and turns that will easily captivate the reader’s attention from the beginning.
The story had every element a good story should have. A solid plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. There’s an abundance of well-illustrated scenes that make you feel like you are right there in the story, and that’s something I look for in a good book.
I liked the story, character development, and dialogue. There were plenty of plot twists that I didn’t see coming and that added to the book’s mystique. When I stopped reading to work, I found myself wondering what happened in the book, and replaying parts of the story in my head to see if I could figure more out. It has been a while since I enjoyed a book this much.
If you are looking for a well-written thriller with amazing characters and a gripping plot then ‘To Honor We Call You’ will not leave you disappointed. As I mentioned before about this author, fans who like their action and adventure infused with mystery and suspense will enjoy the ride! Highly recommended and a well-deserved five stars from me.
Another Scott Jarvis novel with riveting action and thrilling intrigue that will captivate and entertain you.
A wild romp through nautical history and modern day intrigue with a large dose of thrilling action. PI Scott Jarvis and his beautiful assistant, Lisa, receive a straightforward assignment from a seemingly nondescript client to find a medallion that is of some historical value. The same mysterious medallion is also linked to his ancestor, Katherine Cook, a beautiful woman who becomes one of the few women to become a captain of a ship during the time of Napoleon Bonaparte and just after that period. But her adventures are inextricably linked to the modern mystery of the medallion which also plays a part in the harrowing adventures of Scott and Lisa, in the twenty-first century. Packed with mildly naughty eroticism and harrowing scenes of action, it also manages to convey the atmosphere of life at sea during the height of Britain's dominance of the oceans as Katherine's destiny plays out over two hundred years ago. Interspersed with sardonic humor as well, this is a riveting novel and addictively entertaining at the same time.
What a fantastic story for what was already an outstanding Scott Jarvis series! This is the ninth book and I dare to say that it is a very delightful read. This piece of work has all of the action, pacing, and well-drawn plot lines that I was expecting, but what really excels is the heart of its characters. I totally believe that although the novel is great, the protagonists are what make the whole series. I was immediately drawn in from the first instalment. Scott Cook, the author, did a great job by fully developing all of them throughout the novels, so by the time the climax rolled around, I was fully invested in their story. I enjoyed the book very much and I’m looking forward to similar genres from this author since he didn’t disappoint me!
“To Honor We Call You” is a book that I read at the edge of my seat because it is full of twists and turns that left me, in some parts, breathless. In fact, I got my blood pumping from the first page. It is a book with a mix of genres: thriller, adventure and suspense. The writing is top-notch and character development is impeccable. There is also an excellent plot handling and originality that set the story apart. It includes such beautiful places and thanks to the author’s writing ability I felt that I was there: the jungles and the crystal-clear water of Central America left me stunned. To conclude, I would definitely recommend reading it.
The introduction of Kate was quite incredible and reminding me of the Bull Sharks letters from the crew. It was quite a stretch believing on so young could fight with such strength. Her back ground added mystery and intriguing to Scott's adventure and ,without Kate, a very short story. Mr.Cook seem to be have a fashion interest with all the details of the different characters dress. I enjoyed and will move on to the next story.
very good book, spoilt by the use or another novel in the collection
The story was very good, nice use of characters, Interesting plot and good use of technical data. Kind of spoiled for me by the pages and pages of another book in the Scott Cook collection . Seemed unnecessary to me.
Once again, Scott has presented a book you just put down. The addition of historical and modern is fantasy as fix. Well written as usual. Great believable characters as always. Fantastic book, well written, who could ask for more.
An excellent read, fast, furious, action-packed page turner. Somewhat less of the vile language which made for a somewhat more pleasant read. I will be unhappy when I finish book 11.
Love the SJ and LG flipping between their perspectives. I had to reach to dictionaries and even they went to helpful with all the sailing and ship references. That really bogged me down.
