Another book in the adventures of Orlando Private Investigator Scott Jarvis, now accompanied by Lisa Gonzalez. Together, the two PI’s take on a few small cases that quickly evolve to be much bigger and more connected than they originally thought. One case unearths a connection to Lieutenant Sharon Nolan, a close friend to the two PI’s. Nolan’s father is kidnapped, a battle over claimed land with drug runners and added to the mix are the private interests of two politicians that involve themselves in the case.
If the synopsis seems a bit convoluted to you, that would be because it is. There is a lot packed into this book and I must say I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as I did the others I’ve read. The book moves fast and if you don’t pick up all the details, it is easy to get lost in the overarching plot. I know I had to go back and search for some clues that were previously revealed. If you like complex stories full of tidbits and misleading information that is not unveiled until the end, then this book is certainly for you.

What Lies Beneath: A Florida Action Adventure is Scott Cook's tenth book in his Scott Jarvis Private Investigator series. Jarvis makes quick work at solving business espionage for a client, when things begin to get bizarre and dangerous. Two cases merge into something much bigger and lives are at stake. When a friend's past is unburied, the private investigators find themselves in the mists of a dangerous game played by the wealthy and corrupt.

I found What Lies Beneath fascinating as Scott Cook embellishes the work of Scott Jarvis and his girlfriend's, Lisa Gonzalez, cases. His unique way of telling a story brings his characters alive with vibrant personalities. The story becomes more bizarre as Scott Jarvis gets closer to the evil lurking outside his scope. What I loved about this novel would have to be the way the author adds unique twists to his characters. They are at times quirky, but lovable.

Dad

Once again, Scott Jarvis is on another Florida case. Scott Cook's brilliant writing style will pull you in, make you smile, cry, GRT super angry and allow you to feel like there really are folks like his characters in the world. Being from Florida, I enjoy the history and true places he uses to make the stories even better. Truly enjoyable and great reads! Thanks to both Scott's.

What a great series!

I rarely write reviews. Sometimes I am moved to write something about a story in which the author has a character who maybe uses a Colt Patterson in a time frame where better firearms are available, but most often, I just smile and think to myself, good yarn, or not. But I just finished the 11 book series of Scott Jarvis and Wow! Robert B. Parker, W. E. B. Griffin and others have nothing on Scott W. Cook. Keep 'em coming. Thank you for these.
