BrokenVerse #2

Chain Me Knot

Rate this book
Two years in a basement. Four heats of torture. Sold to alphas who only offer me darkness.
That's what being omega has meant for me since I was caught escaping The Haven Institute.
My half-bonded alphas made sure I knew my place - chained, broken, nothing but property to use and discard at their whim.

When three new alphas break down my prison door, I think it's just another nightmare.
But Asher, Phoenix, and Soren are different.
They promise protection, freedom, a chance to heal.
How can I believe in safety when I still carry my abusers' partial bonds?

Even Asher's claiming bite, born of protective rage, feels like another chain around my neck.
Yet something about them calls to the part of me I thought died in that basement.
Asher's fierce devotion, Phoenix's gentle humor, Soren's quiet strength offer glimpses of a life I never thought possible.
A life where omegas aren't property, where bonds can heal instead of harm.

But my former alphas won't let me go without a fight.
And the trauma carved into my soul runs deeper than any claiming bite.
Now I must run from the connection that terrifies me,
Or trust these alphas who swear they'll tear down heaven and earth to keep me safe.

How can I have a future when the last thing I want is to be chained to alphas with bonds I never asked to have?

Much too slow and long

I love Omegaverse books. I love reclaiming yourself after trauma, but this book just dragged. I skipped scenes and almost dnf'ed. I think the only reason I finished was because I wanted to see what was happening with the bigger plot. But that was in spite of the book, not because of it. Someone else mentioned the switching scent, and I noticed that, too, which bothered me. But really, it was just much too long and slow.

Oh my heart, I didn't think things could get worse than they did in Break Me Knot and I was so very wrong. Poor Emma has endured far worse where her choice and autonomy were brutally stripped away from her for years. I was significantly more paranoid in this one after the betrayals established in Mira's story and turns out, rightfully so! A lot more angst and danger right off the bat but her acceptance of her Alpha's I think was eased slightly by having Mira to lean on for a source of truth. The overall plot of this story is infuriating - the audacity of these evildoers! It's definitely not always the easiest thing to read - at least not without screaming in frustration (but in a good way)! I loved Emma's story and her moment of vengeance was so satisfying, while simultaneously giving me a minor heart attack! And of course, the cliffhanger at the end of this was brutal - looking forward to Ruin Me Knot!

Omegaverse stories tend to be rather hit or miss for me. I will say this one’s a lot darker than I prefer. The past experiences of Emma in particular are horrendous and at the beginning she’s rather vividly wishing herself off this mortal coil, and it’s A WHOLE LOT. But if all that plus a HFN is your jam, you’ll love this.

The men are intense and too good to be true but luckily for Emma they’re the real deal. Asher is the prime alpha, Soren is the organizer/enforcer, and Phoenix is the deadly with a supremely tender middle rounding out the pack.

Political intrigue and mass corruption play a significant part in the storyline, and it’s part of a larger series with recurring characters and villains, but so much exposition is provided within the pages it’s not necessary to read the previous work

I received an advance reader copy from the author, and I’m sharing my honest review.

Really enjoyed this one- even more than the first, though it is definitely darker (given what our heroine went though). I appreciated how her trauma was handled and the smart way the author kept her heat at bay so she wasn't forced to undergo the physical side of things after being so traumatized, even with biology being a factor- that was clever and enabled this to be a slower burn and for the characters to truly connect. I loved all the alphas in the pack and felt they were distinct and fleshed out. Particularly loved the forced biting dynamic and how that impacted things- both being a sort of new trauma but also because of it allowed her to be safer AND trust the guys more because of the window into his feelings because of the bond. The writing still is still very meta (lots of internal POV), but the pacing felt a bit more steady in this one , even though the finale itself still felt a bit hurried because there is so much going on and some unanswered questions for the next bok (especially with the big baddy thing in the end PLUS the big heat). Very excited for the third book given what was set up- think this will be our most traumatized omega of the three AND the most rough around the edges/yummy alphas yet too. Think that dynamic will be loads of fun to read.

Once again we are thrown into this world where omegas are treated as possessions and evil lurks around every corner. But in the darkness, there is light and some omegas find the alphas who worship their omega and fight for what is right.

Emma has endured so much. It was heart wrenching the trauma she went through. Asher, Phoenix and Soren were unbelievably gentle and kind. I loved Phoenix’s playful side, Soren’s gentle caring and Asher’s alpha protectiveness. They way they helped Emma was so heartwarming.

I love a good romance filled with mystery, suspense and spicy goodness. Chain Me Knot had all that plus a beautiful story of survival and rebirth. It had emotion, heart and love weaved together.

I feel a pattern here. This book was more emotional than the last and I have suspicions the last book will be the most heartbreaking.

Maybe 3.5 stars for book one and 4 stars for book two? Not sure how to rate this exactly. This wasn't quite what I expected and honestly that is a good thing and I was immediately relieved and kept reading. I initially thought i was going to dnf book one.

But this is still a darker romance book and I'm not sure how to feel about that since I usually like fluffier books. So I think part of my issues with this series at the start are more me having issues with the seriousness of the topics and less about the book or how the book handles the topics.

I'm not sure i am entirely in the right mental space to fully appreciate this series.

Having binge read books one and two i can say for sure I enjoyed book two more and I am hoping the release date for book three is accurate and I can read it tomorrow because I am now invested in what happens next.

"This could become my favorite way to exist. Surrounded by peace instead of pain, held instead of chained, choice instead of restriction."

Heartbreaking, soul-gripping and hopefull!
A broken omega ,enslaved, raped and abused for years ,three caring and devoted alphas and a corrupted sistem that twists the designations for profit.
This book pulled all my strings, outstanding the sensivity of the author in the creation of this characters, specially Emma.
The descriptions, attencion to detail and internal dialogues were masterfull.
With her words she painted vivid imagery in my mind with a perfect balance of angst, drama, secrets hope and love.
I was utterly captivated from the 1st word until the perfect ending.
Highly recomend!

I love a good traumatized fmc and supportive mmcs...

For the most part these characters were great but I do wish Emma had been a little more open to the guys considering they do nothing but prove themselves throughout their entire relationship. It was hard for me to see where she was coming from when she literally felt how toxic the bond with her abusers were compared to what she could feel from Asher...

Her reluctance of having a happily ever after just started to get a little repetitive throughout...

The other thing that was a little annoying was literally the whole world seemed to be against them... it was just TOO convenient. The bad guys were too obvious which made it hard to believe that this shit was happening and no one was really doing anything about it?

This Omegaverse story of Emma's journey from her abusers to finding her scent match mates is so beautifully written. I could not put this book down. Charmaine is a wonderful author. I highly recommend this book. It takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions and has a very HEA for Emma and her Alpha mates. I love how they help Emma through her trauma with very supportive mental health care. Very patient and understanding. Lots of very steamy spicy scenes. I'm so looking forward to the next book.🤗💜

sweet Emma

My heart broke,
My heart shattered, but there’s always light at the end of the tunnel no matter how dark and bleak it may seem. For Emma it was a dark cold basement. She knew nothing but fear, hurt and pain. No love, no tenderness, no warmth just pure darkness and hatred and a one way bond that never should have existed.

But then her real Alpha mates rescue her from that dark cold basement and then the real healing begins, but not without bumps along the way a the cold hearted pack that want her back.

needs some major editing.

This book and series has potential but it’s vastly disappointing. It’s SO incredibly verbose that it’s hard to get through. It could greatly benefit from some major editing.

The characters are decent and the development and pace is fine, but it gets so boring sometimes to read the same descriptors over and over. If I had read “acrid” one more time I was going to lose it.

The dialogue is a bit messy and forced sometimes and there are definitely a few typos thrown throughout.

Chain Me Knot

Chain Me Knot was a very heartbreaking story, but I feel like the next book in the series is going to break my heart even more all over again. These alphas in this book are so patient and gentle with her. Even though the Prime alpha made a mistake, or I should say his alpha made a mistake, and it tore him up so bad. That's how you can recognize a true genuine man and not like the men she was kept by. Definitely read this book. I do recommend reading book one just because of some mentions of them in this book but it is not required. Happy Reading Everyone!

Emma

I normally would have a favorite out of the pack but I love all of the Alphas in Emma’s pack, I like how all the packs are fighting together to help their omegas friend they all consider each other family , and the take down of the commissioner, and the invasion was everything her alphas comes through for her everytime. Can’t wait to read Leah’s HEA but I hope we can also read about Aubrey

From the Dark

She's found and they wasn't even looking. Fate is funny like that.
Emotions bred from fear and anger, caged in the damp dark like a animal. A broken Omega. The laws only see Omegas as property.
The fight is on, not only against the law, the Alphas that held her but fighting the Omega. She's determined to run, they're determined to protect.
Can she find her dream or will she be resigned to darkness again?

This was a relatively good book. I understand that trust takes a long time to form. But I do not want to start feeling that length in the book. I found myself just flipping through pages because it was too wordy and long. Also, I feel like the three alphas didn’t have enough character development. We didn’t get to know anything about them. They barely had any personalities. In the end, I couldn’t even force myself to read til the finale.

great book

This was an emotionally charged booked. Lots of turn and turns definitely kept you turning the page. Very well written right to the very end. Some much abuse for the omegas but redemption as well. They were shown not every one is evil, that there were still good honorable alphas in the world.

First time reading this author and found the writing style just wasn’t my thing. There was a lot of describing emotions, too much for me. The spicy was just kinda meh. I felt like the book was too long, especially with the majority of the content was internal monologue. Told from all POV. I didn’t realize this was the second book in a series, either.

Great book I love this series. And this one did not knot disappoint. It has a great amount of angst and I love the alphas and how they treat her and help her and try to find the last friend the girls have left from the three of them that ran away. The beach scenes are especially great.

traumatically good

This book was hard to read in the best way because it was so well written but so full of angst and trauma. After the first chapter I almost couldn’t read on but it was gripping and well worth sticking through to the end. Well Done

Read in one sitting

This book was compelling, overcoming trauma and blending nicely with book one but still able to be great as a standalone. Can't wait for Leah story.

This is a pretty dark OV, which, if you've read book 1 in the BrokenVerse series then you already know! Emma is rescued by some amazing guys but has a lot of trauma to work through. Charmaine does an amazing job not making this just a heat-centered, fluffy book (and sometimes those are great!) but is very emotional and plot-driven as well.

Can't wait for Leah's book!
