Not What I Expected
When considering this review, keep in mind that I was expecting something more nuanced than I got. For the most part, I found the language simplistic,,suited for telling the story of Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection to preteens rather than adults. When Jenkins uses more complex language, he tends to choose the wrong word, e.g., bazaar for bizarre. I found the narrative to be flat without evoking any of the awe, wonder, or horror that the Bible itself evokes. There are also some errors in chronology. I found the book to be a well-meant effort that misses the mark. It might have come closer with some professional editing and formatting help.

3.5 stars rounded up. Could have been a little more accurate of the Gospels… The dialogue was a bit stilted.
